Louisa Brown WALBERT - 13 Nov 1877 - 18 April 1940 "Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Brown Walbert, wife of City Councilman J. D. Walbert, were conducted at the Glasgow Baptist Church Friday at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Dr. J. A. Gaines and Rev. Sam Ed Bradley in charge. Burial was in the Glasgow cemetery. "Mrs. Walbert died at her home on Leslie Avenue Thursday morning at 4:10 o'clock of complications. She fell and broke her hip on Dec. 18, 1937, and never fully recovered. She received treatment at the Samson Community Hsopital for some time, her hip having remained in a cast for over seven months. "A daughter of the late John W. and Nancy Jane Brown she was born near Gamaliel in Monroe county, Nov. 13, 1877. She married Mr. Walbert Jan. 3, 1904, and has resided in Glasgow since 1907. She was a devout member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and was a fine Christian character. "Gentle, kind and affecionate, Mrs. Walbert was beloved by all with whom she came in contact. She was known by every one as a loveable character and her fine traits lingered to the end of her useful life. "Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, Messrs Carl Walbert and Earl Walbert, of Glasgow; Jewell Walbert, of Franklin, Ky.; a half-sister, Mrs. Harry Whitaker, Newark, Ohio; a half-brother, Mr. Otis Brown, Newark, a nice and four grandchildren. "The pallbearers were Mayor Winn Davis, Messrs Carey Jewell, E. H. Guthrie, E. L. Myers, Cecil Wilson and D. A. Pedigo."
