McGinnis - Et al Walker May 10 1825 Mercer County KyArchives Deed Written: May 10 1825 Recorded: August 3 1825 Book 18, page 536 Laws's Heirs to McGinnis This Indenture made this 10th day of May 1825 between Alex'r Walker and Charlotte his wife late Charlotte Laws and John Wright and Jane his wife Jane all of the county of Mercer and State of Kentucky of the one part and Greenberry D. McGinnis of the county and state afs'd of the other part. Witnesseth that whereas Thomas Laws Dec'd late of Mercer county died intestate leaving three heirs namely Charlotte who intermarried with Alex'r Walker and Jane who intermarried with John Wright and Sally who intermarried with Greenberry D. McGinnis and whereas sd. intestate died seized and Possessed of a certain Tract of land lying in the County afs'd and on Quirks run containing 159 acres And the Same Heirs by themselves and their Husbands mutually agreeing to have the Same equally Division to be made now for the above recited consideration the said Alexander Walker and Charlotte his wife & John Wright and Jane his wife doth hereby convey unto the Sd. Greenberry D. McGinnis and his heirs forever 53 acres of said Tract of land bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at a stone corner to John Davenport thence N87E 141-1/2 poles to a stone and sugar tree corner to John Wright thence N3W 28 poles to a stone corner to same thence S87W 12 poles to a stone Corner to the same thence N3W 79 poles to a stone corner to the Same in Pawlings line thence with Pawlings line S78-3/4W 30 poles to a stone corner to Alexander Walker thence with his line S12E 28-1/2 poles to a Stone corner to the same thence S72W 87 poles to a small black Walnut bush corner to the same thence S12E 40-1/2 poles to a Stone corner to the same at the graveyard thence with a line of said Walker S61W 29 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the above described fifty three acres of land with all its appurtenances to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Greenberry D. McGinnis his his heirs forever and the sd. Alexander Walker & Charlotte his wife and John Wright and Jane his wife shall and will forever warrant and Defend the sd. parcel of land against the claim or claims of their heirs and all persons claiming under them forever. In Testimony whereof the said Alexander Walker and Charlotte his wife and John Wright & Jane his wife hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals this the day and year first Written. This day Charlotte Walker and Jane Wright parties to the within instrument personally appeared before us Sam'l Ewing & J. P. Mitchell two of the Commonwealth Justices of the peace for & in Sd. county & being examined Separate and apart from their husbands hath voluntarily relinquished their right of inheritance to the within described Tract of land and consented that the Same shall be made of record. August 3rd 1825 The within Indenture was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by John Wright a party thereto to be his act and deed and on the 8th day of April 1829 the same was acknowledged by Jane Wright wife of the Sd. John Wright a party thereto to be her act and deed and on the 17th of Sept 1832 the same was acknowledged by Charlotte Walker wife of Alexander Walker a party thereto to be her act and deed and the Sd. Jane Wright and Charlotte Walker being examined by me privily and apart from their said husbands declared that they did freely and willingly sign seal & deliver the said writing again[crossed out] and wished not to retract it and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to them to be their act and deed and consented that the same may be recorded whereupon Said Deed Together with this certificate hath been duly recorded in my office.
