Tuesday, December 15, 1970, McCreary County Record:
Coy Othel Whitehead, 48, Stearns, died Friday, Dec. 11 in Somerset City 
Hospital, after a long illness./  The deceased was born August 29, 1922, in 
Wayne County, a son of Jane Davis Whitehead and the late Rev. Bennie 
Whitehead. He lived all of his adult life in McCreary County. He was a member 
of the White Oak Baptist Church and a disabled coal miner./  Survivors are: 
His wife, Mrs. Mae Whitehead, Stearns, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Helen 
Mason, Whitley City; Dallas Whitehead, Whitley City; Roy Whitehead, Sidney, 
Ohio, Mrs. Shirley McPherson, Toledo, Ohio; six brothers, Ronnie, Jerry and 
Bennie Whitehead, Stearns; Eugene Whitehead, living in Georgia; Elmer 
Whitehead, living in Ohio; Robert Whitehead, Hill Top; and four sisters, Mrs. 
Ethel Phillips, Barrier, Ky.; Mrs. Alice Matthews and Mrs. Stella Morris, Hill 
Top; and Mrs. Zona Gregory, Muncie,  Ind./  The Rev. Earl Davis conducted 
funeral services Monday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the White Oak Baptist 
Church. Burial was in the Cooper Cemetery with Hickman Funeral Home in 
charge.
