Tuesday, September 27, 1977, McCreary County Record:
Funeral services for Oscar Roosevelt Whitehead, 74, of Whitley City, were held 
Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hickman Funeral Home Chapel here with the Rev. Clark 
Stephens conducting the service. Burial was in the Clark Cemetery in Wayne 
County./  A U.S. Navy veteran, he died unexpectedly Sept. 21 at his home. He 
was born Nov. 24, 1902, in Wayne County to the late Benjamin and Linda Mae 
Mason Whitehead. He was a hospital worker and member of Freedom Baptist Church 
and had lived here many years./  He is survived by three children, Kenneth 
Whitehead of Somerset, Carita Hosier of Salisbury, Md., and Roger Whitehead of 
San Bernardino, Calif.; five grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Luther, 
Leamon and Grover Whitehead and Mrs. Goldie Matthews of Beulah Heights.
