Subject: Williams.John.1825.Woodford.WILL John Williams August 1 1825 Woodford County KyArchives Will Source: Woodford Co Kentucky Court House Written: August 1 1825 Recorded: November 1825 Woodford County Will Book G p. 308 In the name of God amen, I John Williams in the county of Woodford and State of Kentucky, being frail in body but of perfect memory and health thanks be to God for his mercies calling to mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed unto man once to die, do make ordain and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament. First of all I will and bequeath my soul to almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in Christian manner nothing doubting but I shall receive the same again at the last day by the almighty power of God. Next I do ordain constitute and appoint my brother Andrew Williams of Franklin County, my sons Thomas Williams and Henry Williams of Woodford County to be my whole and sole executors of this my Last Will and Testament. I will and bequeath to my loving wife Sarah Williams forty acres of land to be laid off in the following manner to begin eight pole south of the mouth of the Cave Spring to run twenty-five poles West and from each unit said line of 50 poles north for quantity during her life or so long as she remains my widow. I also will and bequeath to my wife Sarah two cows, two horses and six sheep, her choice, also her bed and furniture. I also will and bequeath that as much of my land shall be sold as will pay my just debts, what the movable property won’t pay, such parts as my Executor thinks my advantages for the balance and to make deed for the same the balance of said tract I will and bequeath to my children Andrew Williams, John Williams, Sarah Williams, Thomas Williams, Mary Williams, and Henry Williams to be equally divided. I also give and bequeath to my four youngest, Sarah, Thomas, Mary, and Henry one hundred acres of land each that I have on Licking in partnership with A. Sneed in Frankfort the balance of said tract. I also give unto my four youngest Sarah, Thomas, Mary, and Henry one feather bed and furniture each. I will and bequeath to my son James one dollar. Slade Woodford County Court November County Court 1825 This the last Will and Testament of John Williams deceased was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of Lemuel W. Slade one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and also proven by the oath of John McKenney Jr. and William Stevenson to be in the handwriting of said Williams whereupon said Will was ordered to record and thereupon Andrew Williams and Thomas Williams two of the Executors named in said will came into Court and took the oath required by law and executed and acknowledged bond in the sum of Twenty Thousand Dollars with Jacob Darneale, Lewis Peters, and Cyrus McCracken their securities conditioned according to law Certificate of probate is granted them in due form and leave given the other Executor named in said Will hereafter to qualify.
