A. WITT died at his home Monday at 8:00 a.m., March 19, 1900. He had been ill for more than a year. He was a native of Virginia, and came to Kentucky with his parents when a child. His ancestors were of old Virginia stock, a family of some distinction. His father resided in Hancock County, Ky., for some years where he died. Then his mother married to Joseph McPHERSON of this city (Cloverport). She resided here for some years, and died at an advanced age. Mr. WITT received his early education in schools of Cloverport. At age 14, he started out in life for himself. Mr. WITT was twice married. His first marriage was to Miss Mary JARRETT of Stephensport (Breckinridge County), who died in 1863. His second marriage was in 1874 to Miss Eliza HARDIN, who resided near Rosetta, this county. His wife and two adopted daughters, Misses Allie and Julia, survive him. Also surviving him are two brothers, William WITT of this city, and Richard WITT, a farmer of Rosetta. Mr. WITT was 69 years of age. The funeral services took place yesterday (March 20, 1900), at the Methodist Episcopal Church South, in Hardinsburg, of which Mr. WITT was a member for years. The Reverend F. M.
