From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Woodson.David.Meade.1910.Franklin-Jessamine.OBIT David Meade Woodson May 10, 1910 Franklin-Jessamine County KyArchives Obituaries The Kentucky State Journal, Frankfort Ky, Monday, May 9, 1910 News reached Frankfort relatives from Oregon Monday conveying the sad intelligence that Mr. D. Meade Woodson, formerly one of the best known and most popular citizens of Frankfort and Franklin County died, Sunday, May 2, 1910 at his new western home, aged sixty-five years. Mr. Woodson belonged to one of the most prominent families of this section and was universally respected and beliked at his old home here. He was a number of times surveyor of Franklin County and several times city engineer of Frankfort. He was an expert civil engineer and during the first term of President Cleveland held a responsible government position as a surveyor of public lands in Washington and adjoining states. Twice married he leaves two children to survive him as well as his last wife. His children are Mrs. Ben Hughes of Frankfort and Mrs. Ellen Woodson Cooper of Colorado. The funeral will likely take place at his Oregon home today. The Kentucky State Journal, Frankfort Ky, Tuesday, May 3, 1910 The remains of Mr. D. Meade Woodson, who died at Grant's Pass, Oregon, will arrive in Frankfort on the 9:35 east bound L. & N. train this morning, and the body will be taken to the residence of his daughter, Mrs. B. W. Hughes on Shelby Street. The funeral will be held from his daughter's residence this afternoon. Burial will May 9, 1910 in the Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, Kentucky.
