This indenture made the 6th day of January 1834, Witness that Lot P i t m a n Clerk of the Laurel County, by order of Jed. Hibbard, Thomas Jones, James P. Carpenter, William G. Pitman, John Marsh??, and J.B.Catching, Justices of said Court, do place and bind Allen Hicks age 9 in October, 1833, and William Jackson Hicks, age 7 in March 1833, Children of Allen Hicks dec'd, to James Wyatt with him to dwell and him to serve from the date hereof until they shall arrive at the age of 21 years. They shall demean themselves honestly well towards James Wyatt and serve him in all lawful business during sd. term and sd. Wyatt doth bind himself, his heirs ----?? with sd. P i t m a n Clerk as aforesaid, and his sucessors in office that he will well instruct sd. apprentice in the business of farming and provide him sufficent, meat. drink, apparel, washing, lodging, and mending and all things fit and necessary for an apprentice and teach or cause to be taught, reading, writting, and arithmetic including the rule three and at the experation of sd. term give him three pounds ten shillings and a decent new suit of clothes.
