Media Bledsoe to Daniel Garrard 1824 |

This Indenture made and entered into this 30th
of September 1824 between Media Bledsoe of Garrard County and State of
Kentucky of the one part and Daniel Garrard of Clay County and State aforsaid
of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of one thousand
dollars the sd. Bledsoe has this day bargained and Sold unto Sd. Garrard
four thousand eight hundred acres of Land lying in Knox County on Laurel
River. It being that part of 16,000 acres of Land pattented in the name
of John Watts which was allotted to Sd. Media Bledsoe in the Division
of the Lands of William Bledsoe Deceas'd., and bounded as follows. (Viz)
Beginning at two white oaks and a Spanish oak corner to A. Bledsoe's thence
West 480 poles to a Maple Spanish Oak and gum north West corner of the
original Survey of Watts thence South, corner of the original Survey thence
East 480 poles to a Stake thence North 1,600 poles to the beginning. Which
Sd. land the sd. Bledsoe does hereby warrant & defend from the claim
of all and every person whatsoever to the only use of Sd. Garrard his heirs
or assigns forever in witness whereof &c.

Garrard County to wit
I Benjamin Letcher Clerk of the County Court
in and for the County aforsaid do hereby certify that the within and foregoing
Indenture of Bargain & Sale was this day produced to me in my office
and acknowledged by Media Bledsoe and Mahala his wife to be their act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the Sd. Mahala being by me
examined Separate and apart from her sd. husband freely and Voluntarily
relinquished her right of dower and inheritance in and to the Land intended
to be conveyed by Said Indenture as the law directs. All which is Certified
to the Clerk of the County Court for Knox County where the land lies for
the purpose of being there recorded. Given under my hand at my office in
Lancaster this 30th day of September 1824.

I hereby certify that on the 23rd of March
1826 the foregoing Indenture of bargain & Sale together with the certificate
from the Clerk of Garrard County annexed thereto was produced to me in
my office & the same is truly entered of record.
