I am trying to find out what happened to Robert CHEEK and Margaret COX CHEEK after 1880. They were married 22 Sep 1849 in Claiborne Co., TN, and they moved their family to Laurel Co. sometime between 1870 and 1874. The family is listed in Laurel Co. in the 1880 Census. Children include Emaline, Matilda, Floyd, Henley, Andy, Elizabeth, and Robert. Andy (and perhaps others) was married and lived in Clay County until the 1920's. I cannot find any info on Robert or Margaret in the 1900 census.

I'm interested in finding more information on the following Hammond family, of which, the most distant connection I have is in Laurel. He is William Finley (called Finley) Hammond, born 31 Jan 1871 in Grey, Laurel, KY. He had left the area by 1893, when he married Mariam Shackleford in Madison Co., AR. They had children: Lonnie Gail, Floy S., Carl Rubie, Benjamin Troy, Lexie Dewey, Joseph Richard Alfred, Mary, James Arch, Olivia Audrey, and Viva Serena. All were born in either Madison or Boone Counties, Arkansas.

Finley Hammond was murdered in Harrison, Boone, AR, 6 Feb 1925. My husband's uncle says that his brothers moved to Muskgokee, OK.

I have had no luck locating the early William Finley on censuses, in any of the known areas in which he lived. Any suggestions would be wonderfully welcome. I, think, surely, his family must have left Laurel County by 1880, but, where did they go?

Peter HASH appears in tax records of laurel co. from 1848 through 1858, then apparently removed to Greene co. IN. He had a number of children, including certainly John Hash b. 1827 d. 1910 in Laurel co.; who were his other children? Some possible prospects include the William Hash on tax lists beginning 1850; the Aaron Hash who m. Rachel Johnson in Laurel co. in 1863; the Rutha Hash who married Frank Williams in Whitley co. ca. 1858; and Ahart Hash, b. ca. 1842, d. Los Angeles, CA 1919. Anyone interested in this family is urged to contact me!--Richard O. Johnson, roj@nccn.net, P. O. Box 235, Grass Valley, CA 95945,.

I have been looking for the parents of my g-grandmother, Martha J. ANDERSON for over 3 years. She seems to have just appeared in Greene Co., IN overnight. Martha and George W. CRANE applied for a marriage license Dec. 13, 1853 in Greene Co., IN but it was not returned so I have no parents names for her. In the 1860 Monroe Co., IN census, Martha states she was born in KY and is 23 years old. In each census, she held to being born ca 1837 and being born in KY. The 1880 Greene Co., IN census states that her father was born in TN and mother - unknown. No death cert. was filed. Martha and George were first buried in a small church cemetery in Monroe Co., IN that kept no records. They were later moved to a larger cemetery but as they were buried previously, no records as to family were made. Martha's tombstone shows her dates as April 12, 1835 to October 21, 1898. This does not match the ages she gave on each census. Now to get to where Laurel Co., KY might come into the picture. An Ezekiel and Jane ANDERSON are listed in the 1850 Laurel Co., KY census. They next appear in Greene Co., IN in the 1860 census. Martha could easily fit into this family in the 1850 census but if she did, where was she? Ezekiel was first married to Lucinda McFARLAND. What happened to her? Was Martha with her somewhere? Ezekiel's 2nd wife, Jane, had been married to a MORRIS. I also have records from the Old Union Cemetery. This lists a John M. ANDERSON 5-26-1798 to 3-16-1851, and his wife, Mary C. ANDERSON 9-26-1803 to 12-22-1848. Could these be Martha's parents? I realize I am grasping at straws but I am getting desperate. I feel Martha had to leave some family in KY that could still have ties there. In the case that the names of Martha and George W. CRANE'S children could help, here they are: Martha Jane, John Asbury, Lucinda Abigail, James M., Joseph Wesley, George Hannigan, Thomas Franklin (my grandfather), Horace Edward, Charles Elmer. Also, possibly a William E. CRANE who died Dec. 8, 1866. All were born in IN with the exception of Horace Edward CRANE who was born in Windsor, IL Aug. 25, 1875. I know this is awful long but I hope all of this will make sense to someone. THANKS!

Anderson D. Jones married Mildred Yager November 11, 1844 in Laurel Co., Kentucky. Searching for their parents. Anderson Jones was born ca. 1812 in Kentucky. Mildred Yager was born ca. 1821 in Kentucky, and may have been the daughter of Joseph Yager and Sally Chick/Cheek. Have a hunch that Anderson may have been the son of a Darling Jones. William J. I am seeking information about Jeremiah (Jerry) Young, b. about 1843 in Kentucky and d. 12/30/1917 in Knox County, Kentucky. He was the son of Hiram Young and Elizabeth Shell Young of Laurel County. He was a Sergeant in the Kentucky 49th Volunteer Infantry, Company E (Union) from August 1863 until he was mustered out in December of 1864 at Lexington, KY. I lose track of him from 1864 until he shows up again on the Laurel County 1890 Special Census for Civil War Veterans who have applied for pension. He was then again living in Laurel County. I know that he had at least one child, Mary Frances Young Gregory and that he was married three times. The questions I would like answered are: where was he living from 1864 until 1890; who were his wives; and who were his children? Any help in finding answers will be greatly appreciated!

Elihu CORNELIUS md Mary HE[N]SON in Knox co KY in 1804. John CORNELIUS md Rachel BUNDS(BONDS, BOND) in Madison co. KY in 1806. Do any of you CORNELIUS researchers have either one of these guys or girls in your family database? Do any of you know any of the names of children born to either of these marriages. SOMEBODY PLEASE! SOMEBODY must have these guys. The last immaculate conception was more than 1800 years before that.

Elizabeth SIMPSON md A.CORNELIUS in Laurel Co in Nov 1838. Delila(maybe Debra)SIMPSON md John CORNELIUS in 1846 in Laurel co. Prior censuses of Laurel show a John Simpson with a bunch of family and the 1840 census shows him to be 87 years old collecting a military pension. I am wondering if anybody know whether Elizabeth and Delila(Debra) are sisters and if this John SIMPSON is their father or perhaps grandfather.

I have ESTILL Co cemetary book and will be glad to do lookups.
