Looking for any information about the George Washington WYATT (b.1869) family, who raised a family of 10 children near "peoples" or "letterbox" thought to have been in Jackson County or perhaps Laurel County. His wife was also raised around there, her name was Clara VENABLE (b.1876). I am trying to find out who their parents were, their marriage date and any other information about their past.

I am looking for information on Robert and Margaret Cox Cheek/Chick. Both were born in TN, possibly Claiborne County, around 1830. They married on 22 Sep 1849 in Claiborne County, and they moved to Laurel County between 1870 and 1873. The last Census record I have of Robert's family is Laurel County in 1880. Their children include Emaline, Matilda, George, Floyd, Henley, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Robert.

I know that some of his children moved to Clay County. They may have lived very close to the Clay/Laurel border. I found a listing for a Robert Chick in the special census of 1890. He was listed as a Confederate soldier, residing in Pigeon Roost, Clay County. Since his son Andrew lived in Pigeon Roost, I am pretty sure this is him. Does anyone know more?

I am trying to find out where and when Robert and Margaret died. I am also trying to find out if Robert was the son of James Chick, Jr. of Claiborne County, TN and Knox County, KY.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information pertaining to the Rogers family that lived in and around the Whitley Co. area from about 1800 to 1925. I know for sure that my gg-grandfather was John J. Rogers, b. 1 Apr 1832, in Williamsburg, KY, m. Sarah J. Sammons, 3 Aug 1860, in Williamsburg, and d. 15 Nov 1915 in Williamsburg. Sarah Sammons was b. 23 Jan 1841, d. 4 July 1925. John J. Rogers MAY have been the grandson of James Rogers of (VA) b. ca. 1760, and Judy Eaton (NC) b. ca. 1760. They were married in Grayson Co.VA in 1795 and migrated to Whitley Co. by 1818. James Rogers Sr. filed for pension from the Rev. War in 1818. John J. Rogers and Sarah Sammons had a son, John Raleigh Rogers, b. 10 July 1879, m. Sarah Angel, d. April 11948 in Terre Haute, IN. They had children, William B., b. 1906, Richqard Syler, Ova Henry, and Maude Alice. All were born near Corbin, in Knox or Laurel County they say. Family legend says that John Raleigh Rogers was a Sheriff in Corbin around the turn of the century or a little while thereafter. Would really like to verify this. My grandfather, William Rogers, talked about living in Corbin and Somerset (Pulaski Co.) when he was a boy. Anyone with any information on this Rogers line, please contact me.

I am seeking information on Bryant and Susan Cole RUDD who were married in Knox CO, KY in 1832. I have no other info on Susan COLE and would like to be able to find out who she is and where she came from. I know that she is Bryant's second wife and that they had two children together. I descend from the youngest--William Pinkney. I also know that Bryants father is named John but am unable to locate who he married or where he and Bryant are from. Any help would be most appreciated. I am looking for info on my Grand Parents. My Maternal Grandfather was Rice Thomas a Coal Miner born in Laurel County, KY (he put his birthplace as Laurel County on his marriage certificate) born 11/4/1883 and died 5/15/1966. His wife was Della Mae Johnson born 2/28/1888 in Elliott County,KY and died 2/28/1957. Her Father was Mason Lafayette Johnson whose wife I think was Ellen. Rice's father was Lafayette Thomas. His brother Bill Thomas put his birth at Jackson County in his marriage certificate. Lafayette's wife was listed as Elizabeth Thomas born in Jackson County. I don't know her maiden name. Known brothers and sisters of Rice are: Sam, Bill, Anderson, Lee and Lina. Rice married Della Mae Johnson 6/29/1905 in Laurel County, Ky. Bill married Mollie Gains 7/27/1912 in Laurel County. Lina married a Houston (I believe he was Warren Houston in 5/9/1898) by the 1910 Census she was a widow.

ARTHUR. Searching for the parents and middle names of four men surnamed ARTHUR who served in the 12th Kentucky Infantry (possibly from Pulaski County, KY): James, Samuel, John, and Chesley. They enrolled at Camp Clio in 1861 and mustered into the 12th Kentucky Infantry from on 30 January 1862. Also searching for Ambrose ARTHUR, whose DAR headstone in the Cooper cemetery, Laurel County, Ky, reads: Co. H., 24th Kentucky Infantry. Ambrose (b:1805-1810, d:1883 ) mustered into the 24th at Camp Jackson. He was wounded and hospitalized at Knoxville, TN, 25 November 1863. Ambrose married Ester (Easter) STORMS (b:1810-1814, d: after 1887) in Whitley County, KY, on 19 October 1831. In 1887 Ester lived with John and Sarah (Arthur) COOPER in Pulaski County. ARTHUR.

Tradition says her father was Joe "Bear" BLANTON of Longs Creek, Breathitt Co. Have never been able to locate such a person. My Mother and father were born in Laurel County. My mother Pearl Hopkins in 1910 and father Bartley Lawson in 1908. They came to Hamilton, OH in 1931 where they lived until they passed away. I am a 42 year old just starting to search my family tree. I am related to the Lawsons and Hopkins and Sweets in and around Laurel County. I have relatives still there.

I had traced the Hopkins name until around 1800 in and around Laurel County. My grandmothers are Pheba Idell and Julia Sweet from Laurel County. Most of my roots are in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. I know nothing of the Lawson side except my great-grandfather fought in the silver war. His son (my grandfather) was Elisha Lawson who died sometime in the early 1950's in Hamilton, OH.

Birth year for Robert James LOVE 1858. I have nothing to speak of on my ggrandfather, Robert James LOVE, who married Mary SINGER. They had 8 children: George, Elmer, Tom, Brian, Emery, Grace, Icy and Sue. Most of these children migrated north to Butler Co., Ohio. Robert James LOVE may have originally come from the Swain Co., N.C. area. I have been told that they are buried in a cemetery on Sufferage Slate Lick Road. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I am looking for information on the GEORGE ALLEN family. He was my great-great- grandfather. He was married to REBECCA CORDELL. They had two boys, RUSSELL & ELIHU and a sister who died while young. I'm looking for any information on Cynthia Owens, Mahala Owens, James M Owens, or Dock Wilburn from Laurel/Knox Co. areas. Mahala and Dock married and had at least two sons, Frank and James, in the late 1880s or early 1890s. Mahala was the daughter of Cynthia Owens. At some point Mahala and Dock divorced, and Mahala and sons went back to live with Cynthia Owens. Any information on these folks (dates, where buried, other relatives, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. James M Owens married Helen Shorte and both are buried there.

Searching for any information related to Robert DIXON who married Emily SPIVEY (DIXON). Robert may have died in an accident related situation, possibly in Mt Washington Ohio area around 1934. They had a son Robert DIXON born 1931 and a daughter Grace. In 1823, my ancestor Perdelia Pitman eloped from her home in or near Laurel County. She eloped with William Akers. They married in Clay County, Kentucky. Peter Akers witnessed the wedding. Solom Pitman signed a paper saying that both Perdelia's parents were dead. However, we believe that this was not accurate information. According to oral history, the Pitmans lived near a river. Apparently her parents were well off. William Aker/Akers worked for her father as a hired hand. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Their children were Thomas W., Charles W., Samuel Sydney, William Christopher, and James Ashberry MASON. Arrived in Laurel Co, KY, about 1830 from Hawkins Co, TN.
