John Reynolds Family Cemetery
Located at 953 Walnut Grove School
Road, Waynesburg
Access to the cemetery should be obtained from Jack Jacobs, owner of the farm, at 606-379-5178.
"John Reynolds claimed 252
acres of vacant land and was granted a certificate for the land on 13 December
1803, satisfactorily proof being made that he actually improved said land. The
land was
surveyed on 21 January 1806 with John being a Marker on the survey crew. The original survey is on
file in the Survey Book, Page 217, at the Lincoln County Courthouse. John
was on the tax list for 1789.
John and his wife Elizabeth were born in North Carolina. John died 10 May 1845 and Elizabeth prior to 1850.
Twenty one stones were found in the
cemetery on 29 September 1994. Only five stones had markings. A
stone was not identified for Elizabeth. The farm remained in the Reynolds Family until 1874 when Rachel, a daughter of
John and
Elizabeth, traded the farm to John R. Wheeler for a farm in Pulaski County KY. One half
acre was reserved where the family graveyard now stands in the original survey, Deed Book 9, Page 83"

cleared the cemetery
This picture shows the wire that the property owner had
admirably placed
around this cemetery to keep cattle out. I commend him for that.
