For the year 1800 there is a birth listed for Lindsey Powell Marshall.  The father listed is 
John T. Marshall, and the mother is unknown.  My records show that the mother's name is Mary 
Powell.  Her marriage to John Taylor Marshall is in the Lincoln County records.  Mary was the 
daughter of Lucy JOPLING and Edmund POWELL.  Mary's one brother is Lindsey POWELL, MD.  Our 
family is trying to find proof that Mary and Lindsey are children of Edmund Powell.  The 
'authority' (in published records) on the Powell family only lists the older two children.  Yet 
the Lincoln County marriage records show that Edmund Powell signed as father of others.  Edmund 
Powell's ancestry goes back to Thomas Powell and Mary Place of Virginia in the 17th Century.
