From: "Teresa Baker" Date: Monday, October 08, 2007 10:14 PM I have an Absalom Quinn b. 27 Feb 1821 in Lincoln Co, KY, who married a Sarah Suddarth on 22 Mar 1843 in Crab Orchard, KY (according to a newspaper article written about their 50th anniversary). Their children were born in Lincoln and Meade counties and then some moved on to Floyd and Harrison counties, Indiana. The children are: Henry G. Quinn b. 07 Aug 1844 Thomas Rice Quinn b. 25 May 1847 (I don't know if and how they might be related to the Rice family). Mary E. Quinn b. 1852 Robert Quinn b. 1853 Freeman Quinn b. 1864 William C. Quinn Here's a copy of the newspaper article that my grandfather had about the wedding near Crab Orchard: Newspaper clipping, must be from March 1893 On Sunday the 26th inst., Mr. and Mrs. Absalom Quinn, residing two miles west of here, celebrated their golden wedding. Their children Mr. and Mrs. Henry Quinn, Thos. Quinn, of Pekin, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Quinn, and Mr. and Mrs. John Tenney, of New Albany, together with their twelve grand children and three great grandchildren got the affair up in the shape of a surprise. There were present Andrew Suddarth, of New Albany, Oley Marshall of Jeffersonville, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Burkhardt, of this place. Mr. A. Quinn was married to Miss Sarah Suddarth, near Crab Orchard, Ky. They have been zealous members of the Christian church for a period of fifty-two years, and are held in the highest esteem by a large number of friends. After a most bountiful repast and many valuable and useful presents were bestowed, the assembly was called out on the lawn in front of the residence and photographed by our artist, Mr. A. Burkhardt. Group work is becoming quite popular in this vicinity. Anyway, I would love to find more information on Absalom Quinn's parents, siblings, etc and also the Suddarth family and how they could be related to the Rice family. I haven't had much luck with Ancestry or anywhere else online. Any tips or hints would be appreciated. I did find another Absalom Quinn who was born a generation earlier than mine, but I don't know if/how he is related to mine. Thank you for your help, Teresa
