From: "Dove Sky" Date: Saturday, February 21, 2009 11:16 AM I am trying to find information on early Solomon people who would have been in Lincoln co. Ky. I have an obituary for a Sherill Solimon and that may be a nick name for Sherrod. and for some reason in early times this family used the Solimon spelling.. Shirell Solimon died at age 82 his obituary states he was born 1866 in Lincoln co. Ky. and that by age 9 they moved to Mo. However the family of Sherrod Solomon is found on the 1850 Mo. Census. I also found information that the Sherrod Solomon Sr. would have been in the Civil War, Confederate side. So maybe Shirell was incorrect when he said that he was born in Kentucky could it have been his father born in Lincoln co. Could the parents have married there.| So I do not have access to the 1830-40- or 50 census. Just have 1860 and forward. Could that family have left Mo. or the father and went back to Kentucky to fight the Civil War. The father does not appear with the family in later census reading. However I do not have a way to go back and check that. Sherrod Sr. was married to Amanda Shifflet. Such confusion is caused by people giving interviews late in life. A descendant said in 1977, that it was John Solomon Sr. who was married to Amanda Shifflet and that he was born 1838, in Mo.and that he had served in the Confederate Army under Robert E. Lee. So was the name of this older Sherrod.- Sherrod John Solomon. So goes the passed on down family history sometimes just spoken and not written. So if you can find names of Solomon families in the Census let me know. This family was in Mo. by 1850, maybe they may have gone back to Ky. an then came back to Mo. as that is where the family descendants are found. For this one family. Thanks Nancy
