Mary "Polly" (Magdalene) Spoonmore (Spoonamore, Spoonemore, Sponmore, Sponmoore, Sponheimer) was born in Lincoln County in February 11, 1798 - the daughter of Frederick Sponheimer (b. 9/1/1754 Bucks, PA) and Nancy Harvie (daughter of William Harvie). Polly and her husband (Cherokee Indian) had 5 children: William Sanford Spoonmore (b. 1/6/1826, Lincoln Co, KY) George Anne (b. 10/24/1827 Lincoln CO, KY) Margaret Ellen (b. 7/11/1829, Lincoln Co, KY) America "Marcia" (b. 1/6/1831, Lincoln Co, KY) Thomas (b. 1833, lincoln Co, KY) So Polly married likely around or before 1826. This indian left on the Trail of Tears (we're told) around 1838 and was living in Arkansas later than 1850 as William's grandson (George Spoonmore) went to live with him. But we have a GIANT brick wall as we can't find anything out without knowing this indian's name. Is there ANY information to search or anything that might give us a clue? One posting to GenForum suggested the name might be "Fish" but can not prove that. I've been researching this family for the past 14 years. HELP! THANKS so much for any assistance . . . Jo
