GADDIS, William    

August 28, 1894 - d. April 23, 1979  

William Jasper Gaddis, 84, of Moreland, a retired farmer, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at his home.

A Native of Lincoln County, he was also a former employee of Southern Railway. He belonged to Harris Creek Baptist Church. He was the husband of the late Gertrude Webb Gaddis.  

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Carol Abbott of Covington, Mrs. O. L. Jones of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Mrs. Paul Carter of Moreland; two sons, David of Harrodsburg and 
Albert Gaddis of Tullahoma; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Hardin of Moreland, Mrs. Sally Martin of Junction City, and Mrs. Laurel Donavon of Akron, Ohio.  

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home. The Revs. Glen Abbott and Vance Singleton officiated. Burial was in Moreland Cemetery.  

Active pallbearers were Eugene Hardin, David and Ernest Bodner, Horace Gordon, Herman Hatfield, and Elmer Cox. Honorary pallbearers were Mack Gaddis, Ed Vermillion, 
Chris Driesler, Eugene Rice, Stanley, Jack and Butch Hardin.

Mr. Homer Garrison, 64, of 390 H. Garrison Road, Waynesburg, died Saturday, Sept. 23 at the VA Hospital in Lexington.  

A native of Boyle County, he was born October 29, 1924 to the late Laura Bishop Garrison and Homer Garrison, Sr.  He was a welder at the former Lear Siegler Plant in 
Somerset, a farmer, an Army Veteran of WW II, and a member and deacon of Double Springs Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, June Canaan Garrison of Waynesburg; two sons, David and James Garrison, both of Waynesburg; three daughters, Janice Sims, Salvisa, Lori Ellis of 
Harrodsburg and Sandy Woodall of Waynesburg; a brother, George Garrison, Stanford; a sister, Lucille Crawford, Stanford, and 8 grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24 at Double Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Burney Manning and Rev. Wayne Stephens officiating. Burial was in 
Double Springs Cemetery
in Waynesburg.

Graveside military honors were given by the Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.

Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

GIVENS, Sarah  

June 23, 1903 - January 25, 1990  

Sarah Givens, 87, of 3910 Bluelick Road, Stanford, died at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at  Ephriam McDowell Medical Center, Danville, after a short illness.  

Born June 23, 1903 in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Laura Kennedy Goode. She was a housewife and a member of Bethel AME Church in Boneyville.  

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Hocker of Stanford; a sister, Mary Jane Harris of Stanford; two stepdaughters, Etta Pearl Williams of Brooklyn, NY., and 
Lillian Logan of Stanford; and a stepson, Barney Ray Givens of San Teplo, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.  

The funeral was held Jan. 29 at Bethel AME Church, Boneyville. Burial was in Gooch Cemetery.  

Pallbearers were Cecil and Richard Alcorn, and James Alfred, Albert Jr. Robert and James H. Gooch.

Smith-Jackson Funeral Home, Danville, was in charge of arrangements.

GOINS, Mildred  

December 26, 1917 - May 02, 1990  

Mildred Goins, 72, of 3488 Blue Lick Drive, Erlanger, died May 2 at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood.  

Born Dec. 26 1917 in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Kathleen Doan Sims. She was a retired employee of Robertson Drapery Co. in 
Cincinnati and a member of Ludlow Christian Church.  

Survivors include her husband, George A. Goins; two brothers, Raymond Sims of Kings Mountain and Randall Sims of New Salem; a sister Enid Pallan 
of Ludlow; and several nieces and nephews.  

The funeral was held May 5 at Locust Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. John Dean. Burial was in K.P. Hall Cemetery.  

Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

GOMEZ, Pearl Burton  

Margaret Pearl Gomez, 70, of Rt. 1 Waynesburg, died Saturday, December 18, 1976 at Fort Logan Hospital Extended Care Unit after a long illness.  

Ms. Gomez was a native of Lincoln County and was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of Barcy-Nicholson Company of Detroit, 
Michigan. She was a daughter of the late David and Lena Butt Burton.  

Survivors include 2 sisters, Mrs. Roberta McGuffey of Rt. 1, Waynesburg and Mrs. Kathleen Powers of Detroit, Michigan; 4 brothers, Clarence Burton of Rt. 1, Waynesburg and 
Orville Burton of Stanford, Lloyd Burton of Largo, Florida and Chester Burton of Garden City, Michigan.  

Services were held at Morgan & Fox Funeral Home at 9 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Elmore Ray. The body was sent to Martenson Funeral Home in Detroit, Michigan 
Monday morning, where services and burial were held Tues at 2 p.m.

[Margaret Pearl Gomez was buried at Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan. Her address was at 1914 Sharon Street, Detroit.

GOOCH, Leonard

Leonard Gooch, 75, of Hwy 328, Waynesburg, died Saturday, January 22 at the Friendship Nursing Home in Danville.  

A native of Lincoln County, he was born Oct. 4, 1918 to the late Fred Oxly Gooch and Nettie Ball Gooch. He was a retired postmaster and a member of Double Springs 
Baptist Church. He held many local, state and national positions in Ruritan Club International.  He was also instrumental in the beginning of the Waynesburg Fire Department.  

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Martin Gooch of Waynesburg; three sons, Fred Gooch of Richmond, John Gooch of Stafford, VA., and Ed Gooch of Oakton, VA.; 
one daughter, Peggy Spears of Noblesville, IN; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home with Rev. Burney Manning and Rev. Dan McGinnis officiating. 
Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery

GOODE, Bobby G.  

Liberty - The funeral of Bobby Gene Goode, 45, of Hustonville Route 2 was held Friday, Dec. 26 at Bartle Funeral Home, Liberty, by the Rev. 
Arthur Selch. Burial was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.  

Goode died Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Humana Hospital University, Louisville, from injuries received in an automobile accident several weeks ago in Marion County.  

Born April 13, 1941, he was the son of Frances Hale Goode of Liberty and the late Dennie Goode.  

Survivors include four daughters, Paula, Sheila and Sandy Goode, all of Waynesburg, and Tonya Goode of Hustonville; two sisters, Mildred Thome of Louisville 
and Betty Clements of Liberty; three brothers, Steve and Freddie Goode, both of Liberty and Gary Goode of Frankfort.

Frank Goode, 75, of 8324 West Promenade Drive, Homosassa Springs, Fla. formerly of Stanford, died June 25, 1992 at the Seven Rivers Hospital, Crystal River, Fla.  

Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Beckville, Texas, he was the son of the late Francis Marion and Birdie Harris Goode. He was a retired mechanic for Texas Eastern Gas Company, 
a member of the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church,  a member of Beckville Masonic Lodge No. 922, a member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 60, F&AM, and a 
member of the Eastern Star in Stanford, Ky.  He is the widow of Ruth B. Goode.  

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Morton, Stanford and Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Harden , Campbellsville; one sister, Neva Talmadge, Beckville, TX.; and 7 
grandchildren, Amy Alexander, Michigan, Deanna Bess Young, Stanford; Samantha Sue Morton, Stanford, Tommy Harden, Nashville, TN., Ronnie Harden and Sandra Kay Harden of Campbellsville.  

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 28 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Larry J. Vickers officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Masonic services were held by Lincoln Lodge # 50 F&AM.

Mrs. Josie B. Goode, 81, of Rt. 4, Stanford, died Friday, March 6 at the Ephriam McDowell Hospital in Danville.

Mrs. Goode was a member of Turnersville Baptist Church and The Rose of Sharon.

Survivors include 2 sons, James (Skinny) Goode and Robert Goode of Rt. 4, Stanford; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 5 great grandchildren; host of cousins; 1 
daughter-in-law, Ms. Jeanette Bates, of Hamilton Ohio.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10 at the Turnersville Baptist Church with the

Rev. Herman Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in the Turnersville Cemetery.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert S. Goode, 59, of Rt. 4, Stanford, died Wednesday Dec. 4 at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Ky.  

He was a member of the Turnersville Baptist Church and a veteran of WW II (Army)  

Survivors include a brother, James H. Goode, Rt. 4, Stanford; 2 nieces, Mrs. Jacqueline Stone, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Cheryl Meadows, Stanford; three nephews, 
Steven Goode, Cincinnati, Ohio, Terry Goode and Gary Goode, Hamilton, Ohio; 1 aunt, Mrs. George Goode, New York, New York and a host of cousins.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Turnersville Baptist Church with Rev.

Willie Stewart and Rev. Herman Bradshaw officiating. Burial was in Turnersville Cemetery 

Pallbearers were Robert Gooch, Billy Roy Masterson, James Gooch, Glen Gooch, Clarence Gooch and Ernest Gooch.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Bernard Goode, 72, of Rt. 5, Danville died Monday, Nov. 12 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. A native of Penn. she was a retired school teacher, 
a member of a Methodist Church and also a member of the Eastern Star.  

Survivors include her husband, Frank Goode, Rt. 5, Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Morton, Stanford, Mrs. Billy (Dorothy) Harden, Campbellsville, Ky.; 
two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Guthrie, Kenneth Square, Penn., and Mrs. Maurice Alexander, Cochranville, Penn.  and seven grandchildren.  

Pallbearers will be Cecil Witt, Tommy Harden, Ernie Downs, Ronnie Harden, Shawn Stull and Orville Lankford.  

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at the Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. John Savage officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

William Arnold "Tink" Goode, 80, of Stanford, died Thursday Sept 12 at the Garrard County Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.  

A native of Casey Co., he was born Jan 15, 1922 to the late Myrtle Leonard Goode and Josh Goode. He was a retired farmer and member of Ellisburg Baptist Church.  

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Kathy Sue Goode and Sue Temple Goode; one son, Georgia Bell Goode; and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Gene Goode.  

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Alois Mullins Goode of Stanford; three sons, William Earl Goode Sr. and Vertrese Goode both of Junction City, and Tommy Goode 
of Waynesburg; four daughters, Myrtle, Pamela and Debbie Goode all of Stanford, and Karen Brock of Casey Co.; two brothers, J. L. Goode of Danville and Raymond Goode 
of Liberty; one sister, Evelyn Goode of Hustonville; 13 grandchildren, nine step grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept 14 at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland with Rev. Johnny Adamson officiating. Burial was in Moreland Cemetery.  

Active pallbearers were William Earl Goode Jr., James Goode, Nicholas Goode, Junior Gosser, Derek Gosser and Jimmy Hicks.

GORDON, Rachel Tucker

Mrs. Rachel Holmes Tucker Gordon, 70, died Monday, June 14, 1976, at her home after a short illness. She was a native of Lincoln County and resided at Route 1, Stanford. Kentucky.  

She was the daughter of the late John Andrew and Addie Holmes Tucker and a member of the Hebron Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late Lucian Gordon.  

Other survivors include two brothers, Mack Tucker, Route 1, Stanford, Kentucky and J. A. Tucker, Shelby, Ohio; and two sisters, Elizabeth Arnette, Columbus, Ohio, and Eleanora Simpson, Lexington, Kentucky.  

Pallbearers were Jimmy Gover, Bill Folger, Newland Scott, Henry Blankenship, Clarence Simpson, and Lawrence VanWinkle.  

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Beazley Raney Speaks & Martin Funeral Home, Crab Orchard, Kentucky.  Bro. Joe Messer was the minister, and burial was at 
Buffalo Springs Cemetery
, Stanford, Kentucky.

GOVER, Curtis King

Curtis King Gover, 71, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, April 4 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Somerset, of an extended illness.  

He was born June 8, 1916 in Crab Orchard. He was the son of the late Wallace T. Gover and Katie King Gover.

He was a retired farmer, a livestock dealer for a number of years, a member of the Ky. State Fox Hunter Association, a member of the Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge # 636,

co-owner of the former Lincoln County Stockyards, a member of the Crab Orchard Christian Church, where served as Sunday School superintendent for a number of years.  

He is the widower of John Iva Martin Gover.  

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marion D. (June King) Bastin of Stanford; a sister, Mrs. Newland (Martha) Scott of Crab Orchard; a brother, Jimmy T. Gover of Crab Orchard; 
2 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Martin Funeral Home with Joe Faulconer, David Calhoun and Virginia Shaw officiated. Burial was in Crab Orchard Cemetery.  

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Baker, Lawrence Goodwin, Edward Teater, Earl Teater, Jr., Jimmy Messer, W. L. Sears and Ray Shelton.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Wallace Gover, Marshall Scott, Lou Teater, Cabell Francis, Sr., Henry Blankenship and John Armstrong.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Mae Graham, 62, died Thursday, June 7 at the Garrard County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Lincoln County and a retired Palm Beach employee, 
she was a member of the Preachersville United Methodist Church.  

Mrs. Graham was the daughter of the late Hayden and Sallie Naylor and is survived by one son, Henry Elmore of Dayton, Ohio, and two grandchildren.  

Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Morgan and Fox Funeral Home with burial

in Lancaster Cemetery . Services were conducted by Rev. Julian Hammonds.  

Pallbearers were J. L. Sutton, Raymond Thompson, Jr., Maurice Thompson, Cecil Smith, Ewell Bolton and Carl Thompson.

Mrs. Willie Sowder Grider, 64, of Stanford Route 1, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, November 30 at the Garrard County Memorial Hospital.  

Born June 05 1914, in Garrard County, to the late Sarah and Daniel Reece Sowder, she was a housewife and a member of the Stanford Baptist Church.  

Survivors include her husband, Jess Grider; a son Curtis Grider and a daughter Mrs. Eugene (Nola) Carmen, both of Lancaster; five brothers, Herbert of Garrard County, 
Leonard of Cincinnati, Ohio, Warren of Lancaster, James of Falmouth, and D. L. Sowder of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Nola Dalton of Cincinnati, and Mrs. 
Para Jessie of Florida, five granddaughters, Mrs. Johnny (Charlotte) Denny, Mrs. Gary (Pat) Richardson, Janet Carman, Mrs. Ray (Kathy) Johnica, and Linda Curtis 
Grider, and a great-grandson, John Michael Denny.  

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs.; Bobby Brooks and Paul Toliver. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens near Danville.

Services for Everett Victor Griffin, 63, of Waynesburg Route 3, who died Tuesday, March 14 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Lexington, was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Barnett Funeral 
Home Chapel. The Rev. Harold Carter officiated and burial was in Singletown Cemetery.  

A native of Pulaski County, he was born Feb 3, 1915, to the late Deniza Ann Singleton and Emit Griffin. He was a retired clerk and the state highway equipment agency.  

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Dick Griffin whom he married Jan. 24, 1948 in Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Diana Daulton and Mrs. Nadine Smith, both of Eubank; 
a step son, Nick Griffin of Ohio; a brother, Sam Griffin of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Della Carter of Waynesburg, and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lloyd W. Griffin, 79, of Waynesburg Rt. 3, who died Saturday, July 2, at Fort Logan Hospital, after several years illness, were held Monday at Barnett Funeral Home. 
The Rev. A. L. Atwood officiated and burial was in Singletown Cemetery.  

He was born Aug. 5, 1897, in Pulaski County and was a farmer.

Son of the late Emmitt and Niza (Deniza) Singleton Griffin. He had lived all is life in Waynesburg and was a member of Singletontown First Church of God. He was the 
husband of Mrs. Ida B. Greer Griffin whom he married Nov. 10, 1920.  

Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Griffin of Corinth, Ky. and Wenzel B. Griffin of Christenburg, Ohio; three brothers, Samuel Griffin of Alabama, Luke Griffin of Illinois and 
Everett Griffin of Waynesburg; two sisters, Mrs. Dovie Anderson of Eubank and Mrs. Della Carter of Waynesburg; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
