Moreland- Services for Herbert Hale were held today at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs.: Arthur Selch and Marvin Lane. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford. 

Pallbearers were Tony Cooper, Bill Abbott, Brad Brock, Mitch Adams, Marvin Lane and Louie Sayre.

Waynesburg, - Bessie Mae Hall, 86, of Waynesburg Route 1, died Saturday, April 4 at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford.  

Born in Ash County, N. C., on Aug. 8, 1900, she was the daughter of the late Jonathan and Margaret Calhoun Cornett. She was a housewife and a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church.  

Survivors include her husband, Felix Hall; five sons; Roy and Ray Hall and Clarence Vanoy, all of Waynesburg, Joe Hall of Eubank and Thomas Hall of Summerville, S. C.; three daughters, 
Audrey Carter and Eva Petrey, both of Waynesburg, and Mary Spaits of Nicholasville; a sister, Viola Ellis of Piqua, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great- grandchildren.  

The funeral was held Tuesday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home, Waynesburg, by the Rev. Wayne Stevens. Burial was in Parlor Grove Cemetery.

Felix Hall, 95, of 90 Johnson Road, Waynesburg, died Tuesday, July 13 at the Stanford House Nursing Home in Stanford.  

A native of Pulaski Co. he was born Sept. 29, 1903 to the late William Henry Hall and Selena Francis Vaught Hall. He was a retired farmer, member of Double Springs Baptist Church and widower of Bessie Hall.  

He was also preceded in death by two brother, Marian and Thomas Grant Hall; two sisters, Myra Lanham and Lula Padgett; and one son, Leonard Hall.

Survivors include five sons, Roy Hall, Ray Hall and Clarence Venoy all of Waynesburg, Joe Hall of Somerset, and Thomas Hall of Summerville, S. C. ; three daughters, Audra Carter and Eva Harris both of Waynesburg and Mary Coleman of Somerset, a half sister, Martha Hurley of Pineville; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and nine great -great grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Friday, July 16 at the Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home with

Bro. Brad King officiating. Burial was in the Parlor Grove Cemetery, Waynesburg.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

HARMON, Carl Thomas  

Carl Thomas Harmon, 67, of 208 Pleasant Dr., Danville, died Saturday July 7 at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington.  

A native of McKinney, he was born Sept. 3, 1933 to the late William and Lucy Carson Harmon. He was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of Willow Grove Baptist 
Church, construction equipment operator, and owner/operator of the Pleasant Acre Mobile Home Park in Danville. He was also a 40 year retired state officer of the Alcohol and Beverage Control and had

served as an Alcohol Beverage and Control Consultant for the City of Paducah and had recently retired from the Danville Planning and Zoning and the Danville Memorial Gardens Boards.  

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William, and John Harmon.  

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ann Catlett Harmon of Danville; five sons, Thomas Lee Harmon of Moreland, Carl Gene Harmon, Byford Hurst, John Hurst and Jeff Hurst all 
of Junction City; three daughters, Patty Coontz of Stanford, Johanna King of Moreland, and Kathy Carman of Liberty; three sisters, Nancy Ewing and Martha Dunn of Danville and 
Alice Wilcher of New Salem; 20 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 10 at the Willow Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Denton officiating. Burial was in Danville Memorial Gardens.  

Military rites were conducted by the Caswell Saufley Post # 18 of the American Legion.

Active pallbearers were Jeff, John and Todd Hurst, Mark and Michael Wilson, Donnie Wayne King, Adam Harmon and Brad Luttrell. Honorary pallbearers were agents of the state Alcohol and Beverage Control.

Stanford - The funeral of John Leslie Harmon, 69, of Stanford Route 4, was held Saturday, Sept. 27 at Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, by the Rev. Albert Gisler. Burial with full Military 
honors by American Legion Post 18, Stanford, was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery
 

Harmon died Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington, after an illness.

Born Aug. 27, 1917, in Marion County, he was a son of the late William and Lucy Carson Harmon. He was a farmer and a member of McKinney Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, Nadine Davis Harmon; two daughters, Martha Jane Harmon of Oneida and Doris Jean Harmon of Danville; three brothers, Charlie Harmon of Stanford, William 
Harmon of Danville and Carl Harmon of Junction City; and three sisters, Mary Alice Wilcher of New Salem, Martha Dunn of Terre Haute, Ind. and Nancy Ewing of Danville.

Charles Edward Harness, age 50, Rt. 1, Crab Orchard, died August 31, 1981, at his home of a long illness.

He was born Jan. 2, 1931 in Lincoln County to Adela Dennis Harness, Franklin, Ohio and the late Chester Harness. His daddy preceded him in death, April 30, 1980. He was a 
construction worker and a veteran of WW II.  

He is survived by his wife, Marie Harness, Rt. 1, Crab Orchard; two sons, Charles Harness, Jr., Darrell Harness, Rt 1, Crab Orchard; one brother, Melvin Harness, Cincinnati, Ohio;

three sisters, Mary Frances Martin, Miamisburg, Ohio, Patsy Hanna, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Linda Wilson, Middletown, Ohio; and two grandchildren.  

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home with Earl Davidson officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lincoln County.  

Pallbearers were Ray and Dale Harness, Danny Wilburn, Carl Rouse, Danny Benge, and Glen Smith.

Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cloyd Clinton Harris, 48, Stanford, Kentucky, Route 3, died Tuesday, July 6, 1982, at the

V. A. Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky, after a short illness.  

He was born December 26, 1933 in Casey County. He was a construction worker and a member

of the Baptist Church.  He was also a Veteran of Korean War.  

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. JoAnn Harris, Stanford, Kentucky; his mother Anna Todd, Stanford, five daughters, Mrs. Kay Carey, Mrs. Laura Jean Siler, Mrs. Vonda Young, 
Bonnie Harris, all of Stanford; Mrs. Phyllis Siler, Waynesburg, four sons, Clinton Harris, Boyd Harris, Johnnie Harris, Billy Reed Harris, all of Stanford; two step daughters; 
Francis Mae Franklin, Liberty; Lelious Faye Means, Yosemite; one step son, Ricky Lee Buis, Liberty; one sister, Phyllis Wilkinson, Lexington; two brothers, 
Lloyd Harris, Ohio ; Floyd Harris, Liberty, and six grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Morgan and Fox Funeral Home.

Rev. Glen Keller officiated with burial in Popular Hill Cemetery, Casey County.

Eleanor "Billie" Campbell Harris, 84, of  Oakwood Dr., Stanford, died Tuesday, Nov. 21 at her residence.  

A native of Stanford, she was born May 9, 1916 to the late Ernest Bohon Campbell and Ellen Mays Ball. She was a homemaker, member of Stanford Christian Church, and widow of James C. Harris.

She is also preceded in death by a sister, Martha Campbell Doan.  

Survivors include one son, James Reuben Harris of Stanford; three daughters, Martha Harris Bastin of Nancy, Jane Harris Saufley of Harrodsburg and Linda Harris Best, of 
Lexington, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Baughman officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.  

Active pallbearers were Hugh "Mac" McCulley, Noel McCulley, Craig Maffet, Hunter Phillips,

H. R. "Short" Saufley, and James Austin Ballard.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Nunemaker, George Saufley, Nellie Means, George Naylor and Dick Cooper.

Elsie Mae Denny Harris, 80, of Rt. 1, Crab Orchard, died Friday, Sept. 11 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford of an extended illness.  

She was born in Lincoln County on October 17, 1906 to the late Frank Denny and Mollie Oaks Denny. She was a housewife and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Crab Orchard.  

Survivors include her husband, Cordie Harris of Crab Orchard; two sons, Cecil and Virgil Harris of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Mildred Clausen of Crab Orchard and 
Dorothy Muse, Versailles, Ind. ; one brother, Peyton Denny of Crab Orchard; three sisters, Nellie Johnson and Cerettia Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rosie Oaks of Waynesburg; 
9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.  

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept 14 at the Martin Funeral Home with Cecil Roundtree officiating. Burial was in the Allen Cemetery in Lincoln County.  

Pallbearers were grandsons, Dennis Clausen, Darrell Clausen, Roger Harris, Glen Harris, Kenny Harris, Donald Harris and Larry Muse.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Elvis Harris, 71, of Bldg. B. Apt. 3, Stanford Greens Apartments, died Wednesday, March 27 at his residence.  

A native of Lincoln County, he was born March 3, 1920 to the late Luther Harris and Minnie Harris. He was a construction worker, a Kentucky Colonel and the widower of

Dolly Berry Harris.  

Survivors include one son, John Harris, Mayslick; one daughter, Sue Fox, Stanford; half brother, Dallas Harris, West Minister, MD.; two sisters, Jewell Young, Stanford and  
Marcella Phillips, Williamsburg, OH.; two half sisters, Mary Wheeler, West Minister, MD. and Louise Doherty, Cockeysville, MD.; 1 grandson and 1 great grandson.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30 at the Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Gary

Yocum officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Military services were given by Caswell Saufley Post # 18.

Ethel Harris, 55, of Rt. 1, Waynesburg, died Monday, June 30 at the Fort Logan Hospital.  

A native of Rockcastle County, she was born Aug. 2, 1930 to the late Allen and Fannie Saylor Brock.  She was a housewife and the widow of Luther Harris.  

Survivors include five sons (five brothers), Marion, Floyd and Ledford Brock all of Waynesburg. Willie Brock, Liberty and Ralph Brock, Stanford.  

Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 2 at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Elmore Ray officiating.

Fox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Howard C. Harris, 76, of 15115 Somerset Road, Waynesburg, died Saturday, September 29 at the Fort Logan Hospital.  

A native of Harlan County, he was born Feb. 17, 1914 to Frances Harris and Dora Coldiron Harris. He was a retired Chrysler United Auto Worker from Detroit, MI., and attended Double Springs Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, Eliza Petrey Harris, Waynesburg; two sons, James Harris, Stanford and Donald Denny, Waynesburg; one brother Edward Harris, Milo, MI; two sisters, Eva Estymyer ? (misspelled) , Belleville, MI. and Elsie Deckery, Gould City, MI ; 2 grandchildren.  

Pallbearers were Billy Petrey, Donald Kocker ?, Leon Petrey, Jerry Petrey, Kenis Hall, Jr., and Jeff Denny.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, at the Fox Funeral Home, Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg.

Lillie Harris, 67, of 17580 Old Somerset Road, Waynesburg, died Friday, November 17 at the  Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.  

A native of Lincoln County, she was born May 21, 1922 to Frank Delaney and Minnie Busse. She was a homemaker.  

Other survivors include her husband, Rollin Harris; three sons, Ronnie Harris, and Donnie Harris, both of Calvert City, and Ronald Harris of Waynesburg; four daughters, 
Ruth Caudill and Rose Leach, Waynesburg, Brenda Smith, Calvert City and Linda Harris of Alabama; two brothers, Vic Busse and Jerry Busse, Crawfordsville, IN.; 
two sisters, Stella Busse, Ohio and Marie Norse, Crawfordsville, IN.; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Monday, November 20 at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home with

Rev. Viola Brown officiating. Burial was in Olive Cemetery.

Rachel Harris, 74, of Rt. 3, Crab Orchard, died Friday, May 20 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Donald (Linda) Baker in Garrard Co. of an extended illness.  

She was born July 12, 1913 in Clay County to the late George Bennett and Margaret Philpot Bennett.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Watts Chapel Baptist Church.  

Other survivors include her husband Aaron Harris of Crab Orchard; three sons, William Gobel Harris, Eugene Harris and Jessie Harris all of Crab Orchard; three daughters, 
Marie Martin, Stanford, and Pauline Smith of Crab Orchard; (3rd daughter not mentioned) four brothers, Leve Bennett of London, John, Frank and Ed Bennett all of 
Crab Orchard; one sister, Gracie Martin of Crab Orchard; 28 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.  

Funeral services were held Monday, May 23 at the Watts Chapel Baptist Church with

Rev. James Clark officiating. Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery.  

Pallbearers were grandson Rodney Baker, Donny Martin, Jesse Harris, Jr., Frankie Harris, Gobel Harris, Jr. and Bill Smith.

Martin Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.

Verlin Helton Hasty, 79, of Calhoun, Ga., formerly of Crab Orchard, died Sunday Jan. 10 in the Gordon Hospital in Georgia of a short illness.  

She was born in Rockcastle County, Ky, on Aug 20, 1908 to the late William H. Helton and Laura Osborne Helton.

She was a housewife and a member of the Baptist Church in Georgia formerly a member of the Watts Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hasty in 1971, 
and one son, Albert Hasty in 1982.  

Survivors include four sons, Delbert Hasty of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ralph Hasty, Weaverville, N. C., Michael Hasty of Resaca, Ga., and Lonnie Hasty of Calhoun, Ga.; four daughters, 
Imogene Dockery of Gaylesville, Ala., Wanda Frix of Calhoun, Ga. Janet Swanson of Calhoun, Ga., and Augusta Manuel of Cold Springs, Ky.; two brothers, John Helton 
of Brodhead and Curtis Helton of Cincinnati; three sisters, Viola Waldon and Geneva Farris both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary

Bussell of Brodhead; 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.  

Funeral services were             1 p.m. Wednesday at the Watts Chapel Baptist Church with Sherman Adams officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were the grandsons.

Lancaster- Services for Russell "Bear" Helton, 52, Harmons Lick Road, Crab Orchard. will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Ron Harpe. Burial will 
be in Crab Orchard Cemetery. He died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.  

Born April 27, 1944 in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Bertha Roark and Alex Helton, Sr. He was a retired state highway department employee 
and farmer and attended Beech Grove Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, Janice Wynn Helton; two brothers, Alex Helton and Reed Helton, both of Crab Orchard; and three sisters, Lucy Ellen Pingleton of Garrard County, 
Juanita Carroll of Lexington and Fannie Mae Grimes of Lexington.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Haitt, Earl Fletcher, Earl Baker, James Haitt, Dallas and Harry Helton and Billy Jo Carpenter.

HENRY, Mattie M.

Lancaster- Mattie Mae Henry, 88, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died there Saturday. Born June 26, 1908 in Hubble, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo Goode and Anna 
Anderson Hubble. She was a retired elementary school teacher in New Smyrna Beach and former farm manager in Lincoln County. She was a 1925 graduate of Lancaster 
High School, a graduate of Sullins College, Bristol, Va. and Stetson University, Deland, Fla.

She was a volunteer of the Extended Family Program before becoming a participant.

She was a member of Lancaster Christian Church and United Church of Christ, New Smyrna Beach, and a member of the Sunset Garden Club there.

She was the widow of Cecil Henry.  

Survivors are two daughters, Anna Neikirk of Somerset and Virginia Arnau of New Smyrna Beach; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill Hawkins. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery

Julian Ewalt (Dude) Hester, 67, of Florence, Ky., died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, Ky.  

Born and raised in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hester.  

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Knox Hester; a son, Gary Hester of Florence; a daughter

Mary Ann Flynn of Erlanger; a brother T. J. Hester of Stanford; a sister Mrs. Lawrence Goodwin of Stanford and two grandchildren.  

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home in Florence. Burial was in Florence Cemetery near his home.

Ruth Hinds, 91, of 731 Davis St., New Madrid, MO, formerly of Stanford, died Sunday, March 19 at the Sells Nursing Home in Matthews, MO.  

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Sept. 5, 1898 to the late James T. Carson and Susie Carter Carson. She was a housewife and a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church. 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Hinds.  

Survivors include two sons, T. Hinds of New Madrid, MO., and Charles F. Hinds, Frankfort; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Baughman of Stanford.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 22 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Baughman officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Jane Cawood Bowling Hocker, 88, of 106 Logan Ave., Stanford, died Monday, November 5 at the Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center.  

A native of Garrard County, she was born Jan. 30, 1902, to Green Adams Bowling and Etta Belle Rose Bowling. She was a retired Lincoln County school teacher, a 
Centre College graduate and a member of Stanford Christian Church. She was the widow of Jessie Shy Hocker.  

Survivors include a son, Air Force Brigadier General Jessie Shy Hocker, Jr., Irvin, TX; two grandsons, Jessie S. Hocker III and George Bowling Hocker; and 1 great grandson, Clarke Bowling Hocker.  

Pallbearers were George Bowling Hocker, Jessie S. Hocker III, Cabell Francis, Sr., George Saufley, H. R. Saufley, David Horseman and Lawrence Gorin.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday, 7 at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. William Arvin officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery

She was born April 26, 1899, Highland, Kentucky, to the late Rockey Godbey Young and Cyris Young.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W. D. Laswell. She was a member of the Highland Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Bill Laswell, Columbus, Ohio; three step sons, Shirley, Taylor, Michigan; Haskey, Detroit, Michigan; David, Stanford; two daughters, Roberta Sue Laswell, Dayton, Ohio; 
June Fryxell, Downey, California; three step-daughters, Cynithia Englemyer, Bridgeman, Michigan, Margaret Froehlich, Rockwood, Michigan; Mary Curtis, Lincoln Park, Michigan.  

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 1 p.m., at the Highland Methodist Church.

HOSECLAW, Edith Petrie (Petrey)  

February 13, 1916 - September 28, 1990  

Edith Petrie Hoseclaw, 74, of 17955 Martin Road, Roseville, MI., died Friday, Sept 28 at the South Macomb Hospital in Warren, MI.  

A native of Tennessee, she was born Feb. 13, 1916 to the late Albert Petrey and Nancy Morgan Petrey. She was a retired bakery worker and the widow of John Denny Hoseclaw.  

Survivors include four sons, Bruce Hoseclaw, Marlett, (Marlette) MI, Brent Hoseclaw, Colgate, OK., William Hoseclaw, Waynesburg and Gilbert Hoseclaw, Venton, MO;

three daughters Betty McKim, Washington, MI, Nancy McCrachen, Roseville, MI., and Maxine Herman, Utica, MI; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2 at the Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Humphrey and Rev. Eddie Fulford? officiating. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.

HOWARD, Virginia  

April 22, 1892 - May 08, 1978  

Virginia LeFevers Howard, 86 of Cincinnati, Ohio, died at her home Monday, May 8.  

A Native of Bell County, she was a housewife and member of the Church of God. Her parents were the late Sidney and Mahalia Osborne LeFevers. Her husband, 
Garfield Howard preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1972.  

Survivors are a daughter, Margaret Leifling of Cincinnati, Ohio; 3 brothers, U. S. Osborne of Lancaster; Dwight Osborne of Crab Orchard Rt. 1, and Adrian Osborne of Middletown, 
Ohio; 3 sisters, Lucy Butts of Crab Orchard; Sarah Cash of Brodhead and Carrie Goens of Cincinnati; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  

Services will be held at 2 p.m. at Beazley, Speaks, and Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Rollie Short officiating.  Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.  

Mrs. Howard was formerly of Elm St., Crab Orchard until the death of her husband. She stayed at home there until disabled and went to Cincinnati to live with her daughter.
