Helen Addington, 82, of Hustonville, KY passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Stanford. She was born November 5, 1931 in Letcher
County, KY to the late William and Pearl Oglesby Champion and she was the widow of the late Ernest Acton Addington. She was a lifelong farmer and
homemaker and was a member of the Christian Faith.

Survivors include two sons; Melvin Addington (Kaye) of Hustonville, KY and Ernie Wayne Addington of California, two daughters; Ruby Pennington (David L. Rine)
of Hustonville, KY and Vickie Martin of North Charleston, S.C., one brother; Ronald Champion of Ohio, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson; Larry Lucian Rodgers, eight brothers; Charles, George William, Woodrow, Elwood, Emery, Delnoe,
Daniel, and Thomas Champion, and two sisters; Dolly Louis Champion and Bonnie Letaz.

A one day service has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel (Stanford). Visitation will be from 11am-2pm and funeral
service will begin at 2pm with Rev. Clifford DeHart officiating. Burial will follow at Moreland Cemetery in Moreland, KY.

Kaden Robert Elliot Fletcher Allison of Stanford, died Wednesday, Oct. 30.

He was born Oct. 30, 2013, to Jonathan Allison and Michelle Fletcher of Stanford.

In addition to his parents, survivors include three sisters, Payton and Chaylynn Fletcher, and Serenity Allison; paternal grandparents John and
Marian Broce; and maternal grandmother, Bonnie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Wallace Fletcher.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 2, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Stanford. Burial was in the Crab Orchard Cemetery

Myrtle Tinsley Austin, 77, of Hustonville, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born January 6, 1936, in South Fork, Ky. to the late Clarence and Rosettie Yocum Tinsley, she was the widow of the late Arnold Austin. She previously worked for
Genesco Inc., McKinney Elementary School, Fort Logan Hospital in the kitchen and as a salesperson for Avon. She was also a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald “Red Dog” Wheeler of Hustonville and Bobby Wheeler of Danville; one daughter, Anita Wilson (Willie) of Hustonville; one sister,
Helen Rowland of Hustonville; two grandchildren, Brent and Darren Campbell; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson Larry Joe Wheeler; one brother, Clyde Tinsley; and two sisters, Edna Short and Elsie Rogers.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford.  Burial will follow at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in New Salem, Ky.

Ora B. Bradley, 96, of Hustonville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, at home.

Born Dec. 13, 1916, in Pulaski County, Ora was a daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Lucy Watkins Wells. She was a homemaker, the widow of
Allen Bradley and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Charles Wells of Mooresville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, (Nov. 21) at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jared Moore officiating. Burial will follow in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Benny Dean “Jack” Brock, 61, of Hustonville, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, at his home. He was the husband of Janice Darlene Blevins Brock.

Born Sept. 13, 1952, in High Splint, Ky., he was the son of the late Ben and Sarah Whitehead Brock.

He worked as a logger and farmer and was a member of McKinney Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Darlene Brock; a son, Jason (Tamara) Brock; two daughters, Sherry (Mark) Maddox and Jessica Brock;
three sisters, Betty Drury, Donna Brock
and Nancy Sharon Miller; two brothers, David and Jimmy Brock; and three grandchildren, Dakota, Bethany and Sean.

He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Morgan Brock; a brother, Elbert Brock; and a sister, Jewell Cummins.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at McKnight Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Jeff Draper. Burial will be in
Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery
.

Etherage "Babe" Carrier, 84, of Danville, Ky., passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at home.

Born Nov. 5, 1929, in Highland, Ky., he was a son of the late Logan and Della Bastin Carrier. He was a farmer for most of his life and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Carrier of Danville; a son; Barry Carrier (Patricia) of Danville; two daughters, Crystal Wesley (Ricky) of Highland and Lesa
Willmott (Curtis) of Harrodsburg; a brother, Eugene Carrier (Dessie) of Highland; a sister, Evelyne Kritzer of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Joshua Wesley (Marie)
of Danville and Adam Carrier of Danville; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Wesley and Brittan Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
three brothers, Edgar, Elda and Elmer Carrier, and one sister; Edith Young.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Sims officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Highland.
Casketbearers will be Jose Angel, Dennis Baugh, Lanny Hubbard, Raymie Long, Steve Long and Jimmie Ray Sims. Honorary bearers are Rodney Johnson and Robert Wayne Young.

Aline Coleman, 77, of Stanford, Ky., passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at home.

Born March 11, 1936, in Stanford, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Jackson and Kate Mason Hodge. She was the widow of the late Farris Coleman and a member of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include four sons, Boyd Coleman, Garland Coleman (Lisa), James “Rex” Coleman and Benny Coleman, all of Stanford; three daughters, Wilma Rogers (George) and Dolly Schmiers, both of Stanford, and Maxie Walls (Jimmy) of Hustonville, Ky.; a brother, Kelly Hodge (Irene) of Geneva, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Carlos Coleman; a daughter, Ann Coleman; and several brothers and sisters.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Ridge Cemetery in Liberty, Ky.

Kelly Ray Cook, 56, of Monroe, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Born Oct. 7, 1957, in Middletown, Ohio, Kelly was the son of Alice Willena Smallwood Cook and the late Kenneth Cook. He was a graduate of Monroe High School, Monroe,
Ohio and worked at AK Steel and as a union steward at General Electric.

Other survivors include his son, Ryan Kelly Cook; daughter, Meghan Leah Cook; sister, Connie (Daniel) Duell; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Nov. 4, at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.

Today our family had a Visitor, the Lord came knocking at our Mother’s heart’s door. He said “I have come to carry you home, to be with me forever more. Come home, my child, come home.” She will also be reunited with her loving Husband whom she has longed to see. So we gladly let her go to be with our Heavenly Father forevermore.

Dolores I. Crowe passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013. She was born on February 14, 1928 in Shady Valley, TN to David Alvin Jones and Elizabeth (Wright).

Dolores is survived by her children: Tammy (Eddie) Krakowiak, Deborah (Aaron) Clark, Sandra (Henry) Sanchez and Lawrence E. (Linda) Crowe Jr.; grandchildren: Corey and Cole Krakowiak, Heather (Steve) Simmons, Rebecca Clark, John (Carrie), Joseph and Nicole Sanchez, Alana (Wade) Caffarel, Larry, Alexis and Stephanie Crowe; great grandchildren: Hailey, Kayla, Johnny and Waylon; brother Howard Jones; nieces: Kim Brown, Alma Jean Hall, Brenda Conn, Wilma Stepp, Juanita Roper and Claudia Warren; nephews: Gary (Peggy) Crowe and Larry (Linda) Reardon. Preceded in death her husband Lawrence E. Crowe, grandson Michael Hayden Jr., siblings: Eva Warren, Marie Warren, Earl Jones, Walter Jones, Willard Jones, Oran Jones, Clyde Jones and Ida Hall.

A Visitation will be held 2-6PM Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home in Hammond, Indiana. 

A Second Visitation will be held 11AM-12Noon Monday, November 4, 2013 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg, Kentucky.  A short graveside committal service will follow the visitation, in Double Springs Cemetery, with Bro. Kerry Jones officiating the service.

Dolores, a loving and caring woman, cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed making crafts, especially Christmas ornaments. Dolores served as a Cub Scout leader, enjoyed crochet and loved to cook. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.  Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home, Wayneburg, Kentucky is entrusted with Delores' local arrangements.

Marvin Lee “Gomer” Crutcher, age 70, of Franklin, Indiana, formerly of McKinney, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 in Franklin, Indiana.  Born Saturday, November 6, 1943 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James J. & Susie Naylor Crutcher.  He was well known in the McKinney area of Lincoln County for riding his bicycle.

Marvin leaves behind one sister, Revina Henry of Detroit, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Boyd Elwood, and James Crutcher; and one sister, Gladys Followell.

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Estes officiating the service.  Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.

The Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Saturday at the funeral home.  Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, is entrusted with Marvin’s arrangements.

Russell Morris Denham, 95, died Saturday, Nov. 9.

Born Aug. 22, 1918, in Jumbo, Russell was a son of the late John and Birdie Terry Denham. He was a World War II Army veteran, a former employee of Bendix Corp, and a member of Stanford Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Denham; one son, Tom J. (Randee) Denham; one daughter, Linda Denham Amos; three grandchildren, Mark and Jennifer Wheeler and Michael (Tracy) Denham; and five great-grandchildren, Sarah and Hayley Wheeler and Ella, Caroline and Benjamin Denham.

Graveside services were Nov. 12 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post #18.

Spurlin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lee Denson, 80, of Chandler, Ariz., died Saturday, Oct. 26.

Born June 3, 1933, Lee was a son of the late Stuart Denson and Ethel Fletcher Denson. He was a construction worker and volunteer firefighter.

He was also preceded in death by sisters, Lois Pollard, Lucille Clemons and Kathleen Spurlock; and brothers, Isaac and Harry Denson.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah McGrite of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Ernest Denson of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Marie Denson and Helen Denson of Waynesburg; and seven nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Ephesus Cemetery at a later date.

Richard Franklin “Dick” Dunn, 80, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013.

Richard was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Cordova (Grant County), Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Homer and Shirley Limerick Dunn, of Stanford; sisters Jocelyn Limerick Dunn and Jeanette Violet Anderson; and grandson, Conner David Dunn.

Richard grew up in Stanford and married Martha Harmon Dunn in 1956, in Stanford. Richard was the third Eagle Scout (Troop 148) in Lincoln County in 1948. After graduating from Stanford High School in 1951, he attended Centre College, Eastern Kentucky and University of Kentucky before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He was commissioned in 1954 and earned a B.G.E. (University of Omaha, 1963), and a M.A. (Baylor University, 1971). Richard was a decorated U.S. Air Force pilot, flying 570 combat missions in Vietnam. He earned basic, senior and command pilot wings, was a rated navigator, and an electronic warfare officer. After 23 years of service, he retired in 1975. Among his numerous awards he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal and 22 Air Medals.

After retiring from the Air Force, Richard and Martha lived in Terre Haute, Ind., for 15 years, and Richard flew for Britt Airways and Combs Freight Air. They moved to Danville, Ky., in 1993. Richard was an avid UK Wildcats fan and kept stats on more than 1,000 of UK’s basketball games. He loved to garden, fish and tinker in his workshop. Richard was a member of the Free Masons, Lincoln Lodge 60, for more than 40 years. He will be greatly missed by remaining relatives and friends, especially his family, for the love and support he provided them through the years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years; sons Richard Nelson of Kansas City, Kan., and Michael Homer (Sandra) of Bloomington, Ind.; grandchildren Michael Hogan, Richard Robinson (Kathleen) and Caroline Elizabeth; a great-grandson, Elijah Richard; a sister-in-law, Nancy Ewing of Danville; and brother-in-law Charles Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va.

Richard has bequeathed his body to science and medical research. Burial of his remains will be at a later date at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

William “Bill” Elliott, of London, Ky., died Friday, Nov. 1, in Lexington.

Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of the late William Nelson. and Mary Whitaker Elliott. He was a restaurant owner and Army veteran. He was a memebr of Church of Christ. 

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie J. Reichenbach Elliott; four sons, Paul Curtis Elliott (Denise) of Clearmont, Fla., David Lee Elliott (Lora) of Hartsell, Ala., W. Joseph Elliott (Suzanne) of Coca Beach, Fla., and Kelly Elliott of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Leah Elliott of London, Ky.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at London Funeral Home. Burial wil be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Stanford.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at London Funeral Home.

James M. Greer 87, passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky to the late Marion and Frankie Greer. James was a millwright for General Motors for 38 years; an Army veteran; a member of Beech Grove Masonic Lodge # 694; Eastern Star # 465; a Bethel Grandpa for Jobs Daughters # 32 and a lifelong member of Southwood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children Brenda (Gary) Snell, Rodney (Teresa) Greer, and Donna (Kevin) Piland; grandchildren Ashley, Lindsay, Aaron, Jessica, Chelsea and Franky; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Sherman Greer and a sister Darlene Brunson.

James was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Greer; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held Sunday Oct. 9th from 3:00-8:00 PM at Little and Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel. Born Feb. 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Riley Logan and Clara Emma Lane Vaught. She was a homemaker and the widow of Arthur Hale.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail (Elvin) Turpin of Ellisburg; a sister, Mattie Wheeler of Indiana; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) Sears of Moreland and Mike and Nicholas Turpin, all of Ellisburg; and three great-grandchildren, Ashton and Hannah Sears and Brooklyn Turpin.

William Thomas Lackey, 85, of Frankfort, died Sunday, Nov. 3.

Born March 1, 1928, in Stanford, William was a son of the late Gracie Lackey and Cornelius Whitley. He was a retired accountant for Kentucky State University, a member of Boneyville Baptist Church in Stanford and a graduate of Kentucky State University. William was a veteran of the United States 505th Air Infantry Division of Fort Bragg, N.C. (Army 82nd Airborne) during the Korean conflict and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. He was also a very active member in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Urban League and the Kentucky State University Alumni Association.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Arzella H. Lackey; and sisters, Mary Griffin and Gertrude Searcy.

Survivors include two children, Ariana Lackey and Wendell (Abby) Lackey; grandchildren, Aaron, Emily and Sean; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at St. John A.M.E Church, 210 W. Clinton Street, Frankfort. Rev. Dr. Robert A. Strode will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

            Ollie Eugene Lane, 67, of Preachersville passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at his home.

Born Oct. 7, 1946, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Ollie C. and Mary Martha Naylor Lane. He previously attended Drakes Creek Baptist Church. He was
a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired employee of the Timberland Corp.

Larry R. Ledford, 67, of Anderson, passed away on May 27, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on August 20, 1944 in Anderson, Indiana and resided most of his life in Anderson. He retired in 1999 from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 35 years of service. Larry attended The Bridge Community Church in Anderson.

He served his country in the US Navy. He was a member of UAW #662, former member of the Anderson Corvette Club and enjoyed all types of racing and car shows, fishing and the Colts. He was also very active in his homeowner's association. He especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting and musical events. Larry is survived by his loving spouse whom he married August 23, 1964, Carolyn "Carol" A. Betty Jane Fletcher Martin, 85, of Crab Orchard, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Robert M. "Bobby" Martin who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1999.

Born July 22, 1928, in New Albany, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Sallie Elizabeth Baker Fletcher. She was a member of Watts Chapel Bapitst Church, a former co-owner of Martin Funeral Home and had worked as a seamstress at Cowden Manufacturing for many years.

Survivors Include a son, Wayne Martin; a granddaughter, Kim; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Laiken; a sister, Shirley Fletcher; and a brother, Lester Fletcher.

Ruth LaVerne Mitchell, 88, of New Castle, Ind., passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Born March 2, 1925, in Waynesburg, Ruth was a daughter of the late John Morgan and Arilla (Burke) Mullins. She worked for a fabric company in Cincinnati in the 1940’s and was a union member of the garment industry. She also worked for the Long Motel in Dunreith during the 1950’s and cleaned homes in the area for about 30 years. Ruth was the wife of a Navy man and a member of the Spiceland Alumni Association and Liberty Baptist Church in Dunreith. She was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues and enjoyed driving, reading, taking pictures, canning, gardening and keeping a diary.

The last of 13 children, she was also preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters and their spouses; her husband, Hobert; a son, David; two grandsons, Brent Hobert and Kevin Scott; and two great grandchildren, Laken Riley and Jessica.

Survivors include five children, Helen Davis (companion, Carlos Espinoza) of Muncie, Ind., John (Carolyn) Mitchell and Larry (Vicki) Mitchell both of New Castle, Ind., Linda (Jerry) Allen of Rushville, Ind., and Mark D. (Julie) Mitchell of Windfall, Ind.; 16 grandchildren, Linda Sue, Michelle, Brent Alan, Misti, Traci, Aimie, Jerry, Katie, Tricia L., Paige, Aaron, Matt, Mike, David, Paul, Tammy and Brian; 25 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Born March 10, 1946, in Stanford, Bill was a son of the late Wallace Deward and Maude Brown McGuffey Mullins. He was a farmer.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Hobert, Harold and Anthony Mullins; and four sisters, Bernell, Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Hazel.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Carmelita Martin Mullins, whom he married Jan. 28, 1971; three children, William Wallace Mullins, Jr., Terrence Jonath Mullins and Stephanie Denise Napier; one sister, Doris Mullins; and three grandchildren, Paige Mullins and Caden and Averey Napier.

Mrs. Mildred I. Parkkila, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Hickory Creek of Scottsburg nursing center in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born March 23, 1912 in Hustonville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Melvin and Georgia Murphy Campbell.

Mrs. Parkkila had various career interests, including serving as a store manager for a dress shop in Detroit, Michigan, as an office clerk for K-Mart Corporation International in Troy, Michigan, and as the first manager of the Heritage Apartments in Madison.

She attended the Madison Presbyterian Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Detroit, and active in the RSVP and Carriage House Ladies, both in Madison. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, receiving and sending cards, fishing and loving and spending time with her children and families.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Daghir of Madison; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Daghir and his wife, Jacqueline of Madison, and Rebecca Daghir Wardzala, and her husband, John of Avon, Indiana; and three great grandchildren: Jarred Daniels, Jacob Daghir and Jack Wardzala; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Floyd E. Gulliver and her second husband, John W. Parkkila.

The Reverend Richard Draper will conduct memorial services at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church, Madison.

STANFORD — Noreen Southerland Peck, 91, of Waynesburg, Ky., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Lancaster Christian Care Center.

Born June 25, 1922, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph L. and Fanny Ann Moore Carrier. She was the widow of Hayward Southerland. A homemaker, she enjoyed
reading and writing, she wrote the Green River Church News for the Interior Journal newspaper and kept a daily journal. Noreen loved nature, beginning with the early morning sunrises.
She was a deeply faithful Christian and a life-long member of the Green River Pentecostal Church. She also was a member of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Cecil Peck, of North Vernon, Ind; two daughters, Agatha Patterson of Nicholasville, Ky., and Ruth Souleyrette (Roy) of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Victor Carrier of Hustonville, Ky., and Danny Carrier of Stanford, Ky.; two sisters, Lois Reed of Amelia, Ohio, and Mayme Carrier of Nicholasville; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Granville Southerland and David Southerland; four brothers, Roy, Alfred, Joseph and Richard Carrier; and an infant great-granddaughter.

Richard Lee Pendygraft, 79, of Hustonville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, after an extended illness. He was born in Danville, Ky., on Dec. 21, 1933. He was
the son of the late Sonny and Ada Lucas Pendygraft.

His survivors include his wife of 56 years and 10 months, Christine Petrey Pendygraft; his beloved daughter, Lori Pendygraft; his beloved grandson, Dustyn Richard Lane; two
brothers, Ira Pendygraft of Parksville, Ky., and Donald Pendygraft of Hustonville, Ky. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Steve and Charlie Pendygraft; and four sisters, Louise Pike, Lucille Pendygraft, Shirley Preston and Roberta Strevels.

Richard was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle.

Richard attended Crab Orchard, Pilgrim Rock and Rose Sharon Regular Baptist churches. He worked at Penn Ventilator, Whirlpool Corp. and Matsushita. In his 26-year
career at Whirlpool Corp./ Matsushita, he missed only three days and was recognized for his perfect attendance several  times.

Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at Funeral Home.Preaching the funeral will be Elders Murl Caudill, Haston Whitaker and Grant Tackett.

Pallbearers are Brad Petrey, John Peck, Darrel Preston, Leslie Sturgill, Chris Hopkins, Lonnie Cornish, Shay and Brian Pendygraft.

Born June 26, 1945 in Stanford, he was a son of the late James Ivan and Loretta Avanell Craig Pyle. He attended and graduated from McKinney High School in 1963, graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1968, was a former employee of Integrated Inc. (formerly known as Matthews) for 28 years before starting various businesses with his father and brother. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sherrel Davis Pyle of Stanford; a son, Kenneth Craig Pyle (Tashia) of Monterey, Tenn.; four daughters, Tammy Davis Kirkpatrick (Todd) of Stanford, Mora Lynn Snapp (Steve) of Paint Lick, Charla Ann Applegate (Robin) of Nicholasville and Samantha Davis Dunaway (Tyler) of Harrodsburg; a brother, James Lee Pyle (Janet) of Harrodsburg; a sister, Haldis Ethel Pyle of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends, coworkers, and a very special family, the Finleys.

Walter Roland Reichenbach, Sr., 90, of Eagle Creek in Owen County, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, at Norton Audubon Hospital.

Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Stanford, Walter was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Oehrler) Reichenbach. He was a World War II Army veteran, worked for
General Electric for 32 years and was a charter member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Louise; and a son, Charles.

Survivors include his wife Lula Sharp; three sons, Walter Jr., Michael (Bonnie) and Stephen (Rita); eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Born April 4, 1928, in Rowland, Ky., he was a son of the late Thomas Hartwell and Allie Hester Davis Rice. Jack was a retired corrections officer having worked at Northpoint Training Center and the Lincoln County Jail, and had also worked at National Casket factory for 18 years. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include a son, Steve Rice (Donna Slone); a brother, Roger Dale Rice; five sisters, Christine Henderson, Lucille Sudduth, Louise Spears, Annette (Ned) Stickler, and Linda Denham; three grandchildren, Erica Rice, Keaton Lunsford and Louis Rice; and two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Michael.

Thomas Reuben “Tommy” Russell Jr., 74 of Moreland, formerly of Washington County, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at home.

He was born July 12, 1939, in McKinney to the late Thomas Russell Sr. and Ada Bea Grubbs Russell. He had worked at Jackson Chair and enjoyed farming, and being outdoors. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. In his later years, he attended New Hope Baptist Church and was active in missions and with the youth.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ina Russell; two sons, Tim Russell of Moreland and Kirby (Trina) Russell of Knoxville; two daughters, Gina (Sonny) Flannery of Dawsonville, Ga., and Jan (Stuart Critchfield) Russell of Danville; one sister, Wyvonnie Springate of Moreland; and eight grandchildren, Chris and Stephanie Russell, Tabby and Andy Flannery, Hannah and Hunter Russell, and Billy and Katie Critchfield.

He was born June 9, 1920 in Stanford, Kentucky to Conley B. and Cora B. (Bastin) Stephens. He married Milah June (Gray) Stevens; she preceded him in death on January 23, 2004.

He retired from the United States Air Force after 30 years of service as maintenance crew chief. He had also served in the United States Navy during World War II as an aviation chief machinist mate where he had received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Atlantic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was a fifty year member of American Legion Post #70 in Shelbyville.
Survivors include his sisters Mary J. Brown of Shelbyville and Grace J. Lowe of Hamilton, Ohio; two grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and family relative Sherry Sever of Waldron, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Marie Kriner.
The Reverend John Eley will conduct a graveside service Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 1 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana with military honors to follow. Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center in Franklin, Indiana is handling the arrangements.

Melissa A. “Nitze” Stinnett, 53, of Harrodsburg passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at home.

Born June 23, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Linda Statom Baker. She was a Realtor. She was an active member of Business and Professional Women in Harrodsburg. She was an avid runner, a black belt in Kenpo and a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Stinnett; a son, Josh (Shelly) Stinnett of Danville; and two granddaughters, Kenadie and Ella Stinnett.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland by Father Noel Zamora. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh Stinnett, Bruce Devine, Shaun and Derek Southerland, Nick Moss and Austin Huff.

Edith Marie Trowbridge, age 82, of South Shady Lane in Eubank, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.  Born Thursday, December 18, 1930 in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Levi & Ada Taylor Gastineau.  She was the widow of the late Vernon Eugene “Gene” Trowbridge, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1996.  Edith worked as a farmer, where she enjoyed cutting hay on her John Deere tractor.  She also was a homemaker.

Edith leaves behind one son, Larry Trowbridge (Betty) of Somerset; two daughters, Sherry Spigle and Bridgett Cress (Doug) both of Eubank; two brothers, Lloyd Gastineau (Debbie) of Stanford and Lindell Gastineau (Linda) of Eubank; one sister, June Dickhaus of Waynesburg; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Jacob, due in December. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Willard Gastineau.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Monday, November 25, 2013 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery.

The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the funeral home.

Norma Katherine Whobrey, age 84, of Scottsburg, Indiana died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born February 23, 1923 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James and Rebecca (Scarborough) Hopkins.

Katherine was married Oct. 11, 1941 to Raymond Whobrey, who died Feb. 13, 1997. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church Of God of Prophecy in Scottsburg, Indiana. Survivors include a son: Charles R. (Doris) Whobrey of Venice, California; two daughters: Linda W. (Woody) Fortner of Clarksville, Indiana & Ruby (Chris) Wakeman of Scottsburg, Indiana. Katherine is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Curtis Wilcher, 80, a long time resident and businessman, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Moorsville. A resident of Moorseville, Indiana.

Curt was born October 19, 1930, in Hustonville, Kentucky, the oldest child born to Earl B. and Bonnie Hazel (King) Wilcher.    Curts love for automobiles led to a successful career, owning Wilcher Ford from 1961 until 2000.  With an ambitious spirit, he built the new Ford store at the age of 65, tripling his inventory. He remained in the automobile business essentially until his death, owning Wilcher Automotive. In addition, he was past president of the Mooresville Chamber of Commerce, served on the former Morgan County Bank Board, and was a 50-year member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78. Curt was an avid and accomplished fisherman, traveling near and far, competing in many Bass tournaments through the years.   

He married Rosemary VanHoy Wilcher on February 4, 1950; she preceded him in death on November 10, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kate Wilcher.    Survivors include his daughter, Pam Williams (Tim) of Mooresville; brother, Elwood Wilcher (Nancy) of Mooresville; sister, Sally Sterrett (the late Paul) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Shane Williams (Rebecca) of Mooresville, Bob Williams (Debbie) of Dayton, Ohio, Belinda Williams of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Adam, Shawn, and Brooke Williams.   

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m, Thursday, March 17, 2011, in the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m, Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Cremation will follow the service, and inurnment will be in White Lick Cemetery.

Jonas Nathaniel York, 24, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at the UK Medical Center.

He was born in Stanford, Kentucky on November 20, 1988, son of Larry G. York and Stacy McKinney Isaacs. He was a service technician for G & L Refrigeration.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Nicole Nichols York of Eubank, his father and stepmother, Larry & Diana York of Waynesburg, KY, his mother and stepfather, Stacy & Joe Isaacs of Berea, KY, paternal grandparents, Bernard York and Ruby York, maternal grandmother, Mary McKinney Ham, mother-in-law, Margaret Rutherford, father-in-law, Terry Nichols, grandparents-in-law, Sue and John Nichols, brother, Jordan Daniel York, step brothers, James Joseph Isaacs, Ben Isaacs, Phillip Donnie Lane and Robert Carl Lane, step sisters, Julie Beth Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs, Becky Isaacs and Cynthia Lane Oney and brother-in-law, Chad Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Balis McKinney.
