Louise Belcher, 80, passed away Thursday August 21, 2014. She was born in Stanford, Kentucky on November 24, 1933 to the late John William and Irene Lewis Coffman and was the widow of Ray T. Belcher.

Mrs. Belcher was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Danville, worked as an upholsterer in both California and Kentucky, was an avid gardener having won awards for her beautiful flower gardens, and enjoyed going bargaining for Antiques, dancing and socializing.

Survivors include Mrs. Belcher's son Phillip Ray Belcher, Sr. of Danville, five grandchildren, Timothy Ray (Brandi) Montgomery of Moreland, Deborah Lynn Montgomery of Danville, Joni Jolene (Kerray) Wooton of Glendale, Kentucky, Phillip Ray Belcher, Jr. of Danville, and Francis Louise Belcher of Junction City. Mrs. Belcher is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, a brother Johnny Coffman, 2 sisters Birdie May Coffman, Emma Jean McIver, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Belcher is preceded in death by a daughter Brenda Carolyn Belcher, 5 brothers Homer, Thomas, Chester, Wesley Coffman, and 3 sisters Birdie Daughtery, Joan Raley, and Gladys Raley.

The funeral service will be 11:00a.m., Monday August 25, 2014 at Preston-Pruitt Fuenral Home with Pastor Andrew Mikels officiating. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday August 24, 2014 from 6-8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Wooton, Christopher Pendygraft, Tim Montgomery, Marvin Coffman, Lonnie Coffman, and Donald Raley.

Sharon Brent, 65, of Waynesburg, KY passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. She was born March 7, 1949 in Stanford, KY to the late Grover and Grace Vosburgh Farris. She was a former employee of BPI Inc.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years: Kenneth Brent, of Stanford, KY, two sons: Charles Archer and Anthony Archer, both of Stanford, KY, one daughter: Grace Grissom of Eubank, KY, one brother: Joe Farris of Stanford, KY, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Farris.

Mrs. Betty J. Bullock, age 64 of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Broughtontown, KY on Apr. 11, 1948 the daughter of Geader and Maxine Bruner Adams. She was a retired employee of Rockcastle Manufacturing and was a member of the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Bullock; her son, Scottie Bullock and wife Michelle of Mt. Vernon; her daughter, Sherrie Creech and husband Calvin of Mt. Vernon; one brother, David Adams of Lancaster; and two sisters, Josephine Mills of Liberty and Mary Lou Dowell of Stanford. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brandon Bullock, Rylee Creech, Callie Creech, Ciara Johnston, and Taylor Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver and Billy Adams; and a sister, Alene Pittman.

Mr. Burchett was a member of the Faith Temple in Jesus Name in Stanford, enjoyed playing many musical instruments, attending church, reading his Bible, and watching old movies.

Mr. Burchett is survived by a son, Melvin (Shelly) Alsman, 4 daughters, Melissa Burchett, Ellen Harrison (Rob Bowser), Jennifer (Bobby) Dotson, Katrina Burchett (Scott Wilson) all of Danville, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jimmy Burchett, Johnny (Belinda) Burchett, 4 sisters, Connie (Ray) Warren, Ann Tate, Wanda (Brent) Curtsinger, Betty (Harvey) Mullins, and his ex-wife Jenny Stevens.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burchett is preceded in death by a brother Tom, and sisters, Marie, Fannie, and Hattie.

Funeral service will be 2:00p.m., Saturday January 4, 2014 at Faith Temple in Jesus Name Church 219 Swope Road Stanford, KY 40484 with Bro. Roger Stevens officiating. Norman Russell Burton, 92, of Stanford, KY passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Born February, 27, 1922 in Lincoln County, KY to the late Clarence and Grace Walls Burton, he was a WWII Veteran having served in the South Pacific Theatre in the United States Navy. He was also a retired employee of Square D. Inc., a member of American Legion Post #18 Honor Guard, a member of Baptist Brotherhood, and a member of the KY Baptist Disaster Relief Team having worked on several natural disaster missions. He was also a member and Deacon of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Allene Burton of Stanford, KY, two sons: Phillip Burton (Beverly) of Stanford, KY, and Steve Burton (Janie) of Glasgow, KY, one daughter: Linda Christopher (Lee) of Lancaster, KY, one daughter-in-law: Betty Jean Burton Byrd (Kermit) of West Point, MS, one brother: Warren Burton of Waynesburg, KY, seven grandchildren: Rusty Burton (Kate), Nathan Burton (Teonna), Dan Burton, Michael Burton, Randy Christopher (Shannon), Steven Burton (Jennifer), and Brandi Miller, eleven great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She was born on October 23, 1944 in Stanford, KY the daughter of the late Oscar and Louise Wilson Owens. She was a retired bookkeeper, enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors are: two daughters; Lynne Clifton and husband Kevin of Dallas, TX, and Joan Barney and husband Steve of Naples, FL. Three sisters; Mrs. Sadie McHargue of Shepherdsville, KY., Mrs. Bernice McEldred of Louisville, KY, and Mrs. Carol Hamm Barnett of Mt.Vernon. Four grandchildren; Blake, Embry, Chase, and Chancellor, by one great grandchild; Toren Manard, several nieces, nephews, and one special friend; Marion Williams also survives. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband; Charles Denver Burton, and by one brother; Norman Owens.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Edgar Conatser and Ivan H. Carrier; son, Ivan Dale Carrier, grandson, Troy Richey and great grandchild, Michael Baldock. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Leslie) Richey and Brenda (Marvin) Wilson, both of Hustonville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Earl Curtis, 78, of Harrodsburg, died Friday August 22, 2014. Born January 18, 1936 in Lincoln County, was the son of the late Tyre Arnold and Mary Jane Dunaway Curtis. Earl was a 1955 graduate of Hustonville High School and was a farmer. Earl is predeceased by a son Johnny Earl Curtis and siblings, Arnold Curtis, Clyde Curtis, Bernice Hanson, Irene McCloud, and Mattie Chandler.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Gina Curtis (Gary) Hunter of Parksville, a brother, Orville Curtis of Moreland, and a grand daughter, Rebecca Roark.

Patsy Ann Mullins Dowell, age 61, of Brad Petrey Road in Waynesburg, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at her residence.  Born Monday, June 29, 1953 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Everett & Myrtle Evelyn Denney Mullins.  Throughout her career, she worked in a factory and was a homemaker.  Patsy was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved reading, working puzzles, watching cooking shows, and sitting on her picnic table in her spare time.

Daniel Jacobs, of Waynesburg, died Wednesday morning after a severe illness of two months.

Mr. Jacobs was 68 years of age, and was born in Virginia and came to Kentucky from Greenville, Ohio, about twenty-five years ago.

He was married twice and two children by his first wife are still living, a daughter in Richmond, Ind., and Harry Jacobs, the monument man of this city. His last wife
was Miss Lucy McMullin and to them were born seven children, four boys and three girls, all of whom are living.

Mr. Jacobs was a member of the 84th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and served three years in the Civil War. At the time of his death he was a faithful member of the
Olive Baptist Church and died in the hope of a resurrection at the last day when God shall call forth his sleeping saints from their graves to give them the promised
reward for serving him in this life below. He was laid to rest in Olive cemetery.

Danny Privett’s life here on Earth ended on Friday, October 3, 2014, as he was taken to Heaven to be with the Angels.  Danny was born Tuesday, March 12, 1940 to the late Minnie (Owens) & Virgil Privett.     Danny deeply loved his family, children, horses, and classic cars, of which he had two.  Danny won seven trophies, at area car shows, for a 1950 Ford.

Danny will be forever missed by his loving girlfriend of 30 years and caregiver since August 6, 2010, Valerie J. Bell of Stanford; one brother, Hester Privett (Lib) of Junction City; two daughters, Marcie (Edwards) Fisher of Lexington and Christie Griffitt of Harrodsburg; two sons, Donny Privett of Danville and Ricky Privett of Junction City; a special granddaughter, Malajah Danyelle Hodgens of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by four sisters, Eva, Opal, Lillie Mae, and Ruth; and four brothers, Emerson, Elvin, Lewis, and James.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Gladys Marie Coffman Raley, 79, passed away Saturday May 31, 2014. Mrs. Raley was born January 7, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late John William and Irene Lewis Coffman and was the widow of Joe Raley.

Mrs. Raley had a caring heart and would regularly help others in need. She was a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church, VFW Post #3634 ladies auxiliary, American Legion Post #345 ladies auxiliary, enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army, and was a homemaker and loved caring for her children and family.

She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Irene (Johnny) McConaha of Parksville, Melissa Jo (Deacon) Adcock of Danville, Mary Ellen (Randy) Coleman of Stanford, two grandsons, J.J. (Maggie) McConaha, Steven McConaha, a great-granddaughter, Aubrey McConaha, a brother, Johnnie William Coffman, three sisters, Emma Jean Mciver, Louise Belcher, and Birdie Mae Case.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joe, she was preceded in death by her son, Stevie Gene Raley, five brothers, Homer, Thomas, Chester, Wesley Coffman, and Billie Joe Caldwell, two sisters, Joan Raley and Birdie Daughtery.

Dewan Correll Smith, age 85, of Pleasant View Drive in Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.  Born Thursday, January 31, 1929 in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Correll, Sr. and Thelma New Correll.  Dewan worked in retail and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.  In her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts and needlework.

Dewan leaves behind two sons, Gregory Howard Smith, Sr. of Fort Myers, Florida, and Ronald Lawrence Smith of Melbourne, Florida; one brother, Charles S. Correll, Jr. (Vicki) of Somerset; two sisters, Marie Bonner of Lancaster and Doris Lanigan (Jack) of Science Hill; four grandchildren, Noah Miller, Nathan Miller, Gregory Howard Smith, Jr., and Jennifer Stanhouse; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Valerie Cox of Moreland.

Gail Tolley Sparkmon, age 61, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at University Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Born Sunday, August 16, 1953 in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Carl & Flora Hines Tolley.  Her loving husband is Glyn Sparkmon of Cincinnati, Ohio, whom she married June 12, 1971.  Gail worked as an assembly line inspector and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, and loved to quilt in her spare time.

In addition to her husband, Gail leaves behind two sons, Brian Sparkmon and Jason Sparkmon both of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven siblings, Jean Eldridge of Mt. Washington, Clayton Tolley (Doreen) of Science Hill, Georgeina Davis (Donald) of Harrodsburg, Anita Foley (Carmon) of Waynesburg, Michael Tolley (Brenda) of Hamilton, Ohio, Sharon Gillis (Larry) of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Irene Childers (Larry) of Waynesburg, and two honorary grandchildren, Savannah Embry and Brayden Embry.

Danny Stevens, 54 of Brodhead passed away Friday, September 19th, at his home. He was the husband of Teresa (Brown) Stevens whom he married October 4, 1980. Danny was born on March 30, 1961 in Springfield, Ohio to Helen (Broughton) Petrey and the late Orville D. Stevens. Danny had worked as a foreman for Ware Construction Company for 24 years. He was a very faithful and dedicated member of the Liberty Baptist Church and served as the church clerk. Danny loved horseback riding and he was a loving husband, son, father, brother, papaw and was a friend to many.

Willie Oscar “Bill” Tarkington II, age 83, of Sims Road in the New Salem Community of Lincoln County, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence.  Born Friday, February 27, 1931 in Briggs, Texas, he was the son of the late Willie Oscar & Theresa Tarkington.  Bill was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.  He worked as a third grade elementary school teacher and was a farmer.  He will be remembered for his love of animals.

Bill leaves behind one daughter, Anne Catherine Slone (Terry) of Georgetown; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Willie Oscar Tarkington III; two sisters, Cora-Lee and Naomi; and six half-brothers and sisters, Kate, Sammie, Josie, Paul, Louis, and Robert.

She was the widow of the late Vernon Eugene “Gene” Trowbridge, who preceded her in death on April 2, 1996. Edith worked as a farmer, where she enjoyed cutting hay on her John Deere tractor. She also was a homemaker.

Edith leaves behind one son, Larry Trowbridge (Betty) of Somerset; two daughters, Sherry Spigle and Bridgett Cress (Doug) both of Eubank; two brothers, Lloyd Gastineau (Debbie) of Stanford and Lindell Gastineau (Linda) of Eubank; one sister, June Dickhaus of Waynesburg; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Jacob, due in December.

Marjorie T. Williams, 91, passed away Friday June 20, 2014. She was born April 28, 1923 in Kings Mountain, Kentucky to the late Ollie and Gertrude Hamilton Thompson and was the widow of Herbert A. Williams. Mrs. Williams was also preceded in death by her two children, Ted Williams and Susan Williams.

Mrs. Williams, along with her husband were both nurses while he was in the military in Germany during World War II. She was a member of the Baptist faith, was an animal lover whose favorite color was Blue. She collected cookbooks, enjoyed flowers and butterflies, looked forward to thoroughly reading the newspaper every day and loved to read magazines to search out new recipes.

Mrs. Williams is survived by three siblings; two brothers, Conrad (Juanita) Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Eldred Thompson of Stanford, and Marilyn McCurdy of Palm Desert, California.

The funeral service will be 1:00p.m., Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Pastor Choe Sergent officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be 2:30p.m. at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
