Eva Dye Alford, 83,  Rt.1 Waynesburg  passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3rd ,1980, at Friendship Home in Danville after a long illiness

She was born in Lincoln Counry  June 10th.1896  to the late Alta Long and Jim Dye. Preceded  in death by her husband Charles Alford  in 1966, They were married Oct. 5, 1919  at Double Springs Baptist Church.  She was a housewife and Member of Double Springs Baptist Church

Survivors; one son,  J.W. Alford of Waynesburg, one brother, Lawrence Dye of Ohio, one sister, Bertha Morgan of Ohio,

 3 grandchildren  2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held  Feb. 5th,1980 at Barnett Funerial Home  with Revs. Clyde Rhea and Vernon Clark officiating.

Burial was at Pleasant Point Cemetery.

Della Marie Hodge Baugh Age 50 Route 3 Waynesburg Died July 31st at Fort Logan Hospital after a short illiness.

Born Dec.23rd, 1930 to the late Eugene “Gene” and Ludena Kidd Hodge. She was a housewife and Member of the Chruch of Christ.

 Survivors include her husband Cell Baugh, of Waynesburg, three sons: Gene Hinds of Waynesburg, Jimmy Hinds of Stanford, Michael Dowell of Waynesburg, nine daughters: Pearl Dowell of Waynesburg, Reta, Rhonda, Brenda and Glenda Baugh all of Waynesburg, Janet Kidd, Debbie Durham, Kathy Cress all of Stanford and Linda Wilcher of Ohio.

Three brothers; Bob and Ralph Hodge of Crab Orchard, Howard Hodge of Seymore, Ind. and sisters; Lorene Denny, Mary Middleton,Wanda Caudill all of Crab Orchard, Ruth Stroud, Lavern Reed of Seymore, Ind. Fifteen Grandchildren

Funeral Services were 4pm Sunday at Martin Funeral Home with Viola Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers; William Dowell, Joe Kidd, Donald Cress, Frankie Durham, Randy Wilcher, and Bob Hodge.

WAYNESBURG - Jeffery Earl Caldwell, 45, of Danville passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Monday, Sept. 17, 1962, in Boyle County to the late Jerry Keith Caldwell and Bonnie Horton Caldwell, Jeffery was a livestock dealer and member of Willow Grove Baptist Church. A graduate of Boyle County High School, he was a former Boyle County FFA president and Spelling Bee champion of Lincoln County.

Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Caldwell of Danville; a son, Andrew Sears Caldwell of Lexington; two brothers, Mike Caldwell and his wife Margaret of Danville, and Ryan Caldwell and his wife Teresa of Danville; a sister, Linda Williams; five nephews; two nieces; two great-nephews; and a great-niece.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Willow Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Denton and Bob Kiper officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at Willow Grove Baptist Church, Danville.

Pallbearers will be Chuck and Ben Williams, and Chad, Eric, Ed and Steve Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Robinson, Ernest Lear, Gerald Rousey, Bill Whitehouse, and Freeman and Gary Caldwell.

STANFORD - Gordon S. Coleman, 66, of Stanford died Friday, June 20.

Born May 19, 1942, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Sam and Ethel Conatser Coleman.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hill Coleman of Stanford; four sons, James Eugene Coleman of Irvine, Gordon Junior Coleman of Hustonville, and Frankie Lewis and Jason Daniel Coleman, both of Stanford; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Dale) Owens of Hustonville; four brothers, Clyde Coleman of Waynesburg, Jerry and Mark Coleman of McKinney, and John Coleman of Stanford; three sisters, Becky Mounce and Connie Payton, both of Stanford, and Christine Coleman of McKinney; and a grandson, Derrick Coleman.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

MORELAND - Steve Alan Douglas, 44, of Junction City died Wednesday.

Born May 17, 1964, in Boyle County, he was a son of Steve H. Douglas of Junction City and the late Janice Bowling Douglas. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Douglas, a daughter, Kayla Douglas, and four brothers, Troy, Brandin, Jarod and Jeremy Douglas, all of Junction City.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Gary Allen. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary W. Phillips, Gary Leber, Joe and Brandin Douglas, Gary Guinn, Carl Gwinn and Roger King. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy, Leeroy and Billy Douglas, J.W. Walls and Joe Grubbs.

Serena May Dye 75, wife of Willie Dye, died Monday at Danville Hospital after a illiness of several years.

She was born Nov. 22nd,1896 in Lincoln County daughter of  the late C. M. and  Lackey Godbey Young .She was a School Teacher and a Member of Highland Methodist  Church .

Survivors are one son, James C. Dye of Ohio, one daughter, Betty Jo Singleton of Waynesburg, two Grandsons:  Billy Dye and Jeff Singleton, one brother, Hardin Young of Ind., two sisters: Lucille Laswell Hogue of Ohio and Grace Webb of Calif.

Services were at Highland Methodist  Church , Rev., Don Scilley officiated.  Burial at Pleasant Point Cemetery

January 11, 1898 – November 02, 1977

 

Wilie Dye, 79 of Rt.1 of Waynesburg, died Nov, 2nd, at Fort Logan Hospital. He was the son of the late Alta Long Dye and James T.Dye .He was the Widower of Serena Young.Who died in 1972.

Survivors: one son, James C.Dye of Louisville, one daughter,  Betty Jo Singleton  of Waynesburg,  two grandsons: Billy Ray Dye of Louisville and Jeff Singleton of Waynesburg, one brother, Lawrence Dye of Middletown Ohio, two sisters:  Bertha Morgan of Dayton Ohio and Eva Alford  of Waynesburg.

Mr. Dye was a retired miller, member of Highland Methodist Church, a Member of Waynesburg  Lodge 328

Funeral services  were held Nov.5th, at Barnett Funeral  Home by Rev. Vernon Clark.  Burial was in Pleasant Point Cemetery

Willis Eldridge, 71, of Copper Creek, died Thursday, June 12 at the Hospice Care Plus Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

A native of Harlan County, he was born June 2, 1937 to the late Jess and Molly Jones Eldridge.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Wendal Mae Wilmot Eldridge of Copper Creek; two sons, Randall Eldridge of Paint Lick and David Wilmot of Copper Creek; four sisters, Marie Walter of Blanchester, Ohio, Nellie Jean Walter of Hillsboro, Ohio, Elizabeth Fletcher of Crab Orchard, and Verta Mae (Shirl) Williams of Stanford; one brother, Ellis (Betty) Eldridge of Crab Orchard; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 16 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Ed Hubbard officiating. Burial was in Wilmot Chapel.

Active pallbearers were Ronnie and Eugene Walter, Wayne Cash, Wayne Renner, and Phil Brandenburg. Honorary pallbearers were John Causey, Clifton Sparks, Jerry Sparks, and Frank Sykes.

John Estes, 73, of Stanford, died Tuesday, July 8 in Lincoln County.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born Friday, July 13, 1934 to the late John W. Estes and Mayme Tillitt Long of Lebanon, Ohio. He was a sewing machine mechanic at Palm Beach for 28 years and at Trim Masters for 10 years, a member of the Stanford Masonic Lodge and the Turnersville Christian Church, the widower of Martha Frances Sowers, and a supporter of the Lincoln County football team by cooking steaks at the games. He also enjoyed repairing clocks.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, June Barnes; and a brother, Billy Long.

Survivors include three daughter, Vicky Estes and Debbie Owens both of Stanford and Stacy Long of McKinney; six grandchildren, Chris and John VanHook, Kelly Ammons, and Niki, Lindsey and Colby Long; two great grandchildren, McKenzie and Collin Bourne; brothers and sisters, Doris Peck of Long Beach, Calif., Charlie Long of Fort Meyers, Fla., Betty Betuel of Lynchburg, Ohio, Helen Richter of Fort Thomas, David Long of Amelia, Ohio, Barbara Rodarmel of Falmouth, Patty Harris of Dayton, Larry Long of Newport, and Bonnie Westall of Lebanon, Ohio.

Funeral service were July 11 at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Ralph L. Estes, 84, of U.S. 27 South, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Jan. 13, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Lester and Mollie Ellen Addington Estes. Mr. Estes was a retired school teacher, having taught for more than 30 years. He began his career in Bracken County and then taught at Kings Mountain Memorial. He retired from Lincoln County High School. He was past president of the Kentucky Educational Association. He also was a tobacco farmer and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his dear wife, Velma Gourley Estes; son, Lindon W. (Nancy) Estes of Danville; daughter, Monica E. (Jerry) Frady of Madisonville, Tenn.; brother, James A. (Peggy) Estes of Lexington; and three grandchildren, Tiffany and Marc Frady of Madisonville, Tenn., and Crystal Estes Ellis of Danville.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Cyrus Marvin Estes; and sister, Ruby Faye Samples.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Cornett officiating. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery.

MOSCOW, Ohio - Alton Carlysle Garrison, 80, died Tuesday, June 17, at his home on Ireton-Trees Road in Moscow, Ohio.

He leaves his wife, Jeanette Garrison; a son, Gary (Deborah) Garrison; a granddaughter, Sarah Morgan; and a brother, Joe Garrison.

He was predeceased by his late parents, Hugh and Etwell Morgan Garrison; a brother, Glenn Garrison; and two sisters, Izatta Garrison and Fay Cage.

Funeral services are 7 p.m. today, June 22, at the Felicity Christian Church, 847 State Route 133, Felicity, Ohio.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Hustonville Cemetery in Hustonville.

WAYNESBURG - Junior Gastineau, 75, of Kings Mountain passed away at his residence on Monday, July 7, 2008.

Born Monday, Dec. 12, 1932, in Casey County to the late Joseph and Minnie Luttrell Gastineau, Junior retired from 30 years as a powerline worker and was of the Baptist faith.

He wed Muriel "Vangie" Gooch on May 19, 1958, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They had four daughters, Debra (Larry) Dalton, Donna (James) Carman, Dinah (Archie) Kendrick and Diane (Cleo) Greer.

Other family includes four grandsons, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Collins, Brandon Carman and Dylan Lopez; and two brothers, Vertrice Gastineau and William Gastineau. Junior was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Gastineau; and a sister, Cordia Williams.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. Vola Brown officiating. Burial will follow in KP Hall Cemetery.

MORELAND - Cathy Clarkston Gilpin, 67, of Greenwood, Ind., died Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Greenwood.

Born Feb. 5, 1941, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Crit and Charlena Young Clarkston. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Esker Arlin Gilpin Sr.; one son, Esker Arlin (Angie) Gilpin Jr. of Liberty; one sister, Candy (Carroll) Wethington of Hustonville; and three grandchildren, Kaytlynn, A.J. and Dustin Gilpin.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Brothers Jerry Adams and Cameron Cain, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

STANFORD - Harry D. Goggin, 57, of Stanford died Thursday, July 3, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 7, 1951, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Carl and Virginia Lee Gooch Goggin. He was a farmer, a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church, a soil conservation board member, a Kentucky Beef Cattle Association member, involved with the Young Farmers Association and a Cedar Creek Sportsman Club member.

Goggin is survived by his wife, Jean Goggin; a daughter, Jamie (Adrian) Waddell of Iowa Park, Texas; a son, Jeremy Goggin of Lexington; a brother, Carl Goggin Jr.; and a grandson, Mason Waddell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Curlis.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Louise Harness, 86, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, July 9 at the Christian Care Center in Lancaster.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Dec. 28, 1921 to the late William and Lola Boswell Griffin. She worked as a seamstress at Cowdens Manufacturing and was a member of the New Hope First Church of God.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Jean Simpson Brown; brothers, Charles, Leon, Delbert and Hulen Griffin; a sister, Florence Johnson; and one great grandson, Eric Blevins.

Survivors include her husband, James Harness of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Linda “Bo” (Bobby) Martin of Crab Orchard; special nephew, Clinton Griffin of Bowling Green; sister, Grace Studer of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren: Durand Brown, Jeff Blevins, Donya Saylor, Rodney and Robbie Blevins and Denny Brown; five great grandchildren, Jason Brown, Carla Blevins, Missy Cope, and Justin and Austin Blevins; five great, great grandchildren, Dalton Brown, Heather and Dalton Roe, and Austin and Drake Cope.

William Guy Hart, 87, of Stanford, died Thursday, July 10 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

A native of Shelbyville, Tenn., he was born Aug. 8, 1920 to the late Bob Sims Hart and Betty Duke Hart. He was owner and manager of Hart Insurance Agency since 1966, a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, graduate of Tennessee Tech, a teacher and basketball and football coach in Manchester, Tenn., and the widower of Rowena Eakin Hart.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Hart; and a sister, Mitchell Hill.

Survivors include five children, Susan (David) Reed of Elizabethtown, W. Guy (Shirley) Hart, Jr. of Frankfort, Ewing (Mary Beth) Hart and Ward (Pam) Hart both of Stanford, and Emily (Jimmy) Smith of Vine Grove; one sister, Betty Jane Pierce of Bristol, Tenn; 13 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were July 12 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Richard Reed officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Moreland – Irene Lane Hatter, 89, of Springfield, Ohio died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. Born March 3, 1919 in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Albert Lane and Margaret Phillips Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.G. Hatter and one son, Gary Hatter. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norwood, Ohio. She is survived by her son, Adrian (Karen) Hatter of Springfield, Ohio; her daughter, Sue Horner of Stanford; and sister, Christine Shepperson of Boyle County. Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 Saturday.

August 02, 1921- June 23, 2008

STANFORD - Beulah Brent Hester, 86, of Stanford passed away Monday, June 23, at Golden Living Center in Stanford.

Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late J. Frank and Sadie Alexander Brent.

She was a 1939 graduate of Stanford High School, and a former employee of the Goodall and Angel Manufacturing Co. in Stanford. She worked at Hart Insurance Co. until her retirement and was a member of the former Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, now New Beginnings UMC, where she served as treasurer for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hester, whom she wed on March 14, 1942. To this union were two sons, Ronald Gene (Justeen) Hester and Charles Lee (Charley) Hester, both of Stanford. Survivors also include a sister, Jessie Brent Wirth of Louisville; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Goodwin and Vivian Sims, both of Stanford; two grandchildren, Jamie Lee (Terry) Weaver of Lancaster and Sherry (Jeff) Glasscock of Perryville; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Beulah in death are two brothers, Carroll Lynn Brent and Howard Brent; and a sister, Mattie Mae Gay.

A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Bro. Jeremy James officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home.

Edward Henry Hildebrant, 70 Skyview Homes in Stanford, died Friday Sept.12th, at Fort Logan Hospital.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born July 15th, 1916. He was a retired farmer and a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

He is survived  by his wife, Erma Dye Hildebrant.

Pallbearers were George Spears, Eddie Spears, Gene Spears, Robert Farris, Eric Maples, Stanley Pingleton, Joe Spears, and Owen Spears.

Edna Louise Holt, 63, of Martin Luther King Drive in Stanford died Thursday.

Born Feb. 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Jessie Wilkerson.

Holt is survived by a daughter, Shirlena Goode of Stanford; a son, Ronnie Wilkerson of Stanford; five sisters, Billie Smith and Joann Alcorn of Cincinnati, and Frances Alexander, Shirley Jackson and Janie Lamb, all of Lexington; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at First Baptist Church in Stanford with the Rev. Floyd Raglin officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

HOLTZCLAW, Bobby Jean Fitzpatrick

Bobby Jean Fitzpatrick Holtzclaw, 81, of Danville died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Charleston Health Care Center.

Born Thursday, Dec. 23, 1926, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Matilda Bell Fitzpatrick. She was the widow of Robert W. Holtzclaw. She was a devoted member of McKendree United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and organized a Bible school program every summer. She and her husband provided a Christmas program for the church along with Santa and treats for the children. She taught a morals and ethics program in Danville schools, which was in part sponsored by the Danville Ministerial Association. She later taught math at Danville High School for many years. After retiring from teaching, she was a faithful volunteer for Hospice.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Donald Lee (Betty) Holtzclaw of Danville and Robert Wesley (Nancy) Holtzclaw Jr. of Atlanta; two sisters, June Hearin of Birmingham, Ala., and Marilyn (Bill) Acosta of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Elinor Holtzclaw Adams, Elizabeth Holtzclaw Joiner, Sherri Lynn McCurdy, Teri Kai Holtzclaw and Geoffrey Gene Holtzclaw; 10 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Elizabeth Acosta-Lewis, Nancy Acosta Love and Lisa Hearin Alexander; and a nephew, Robert Acosta.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerry Hearin; a grandson, Robert William Holtzclaw; and a nephew, Robert Milton Hearin.

Services will be noon Monday, July 7, 2008, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Quentin Scholtz and Chaplain Gary Story. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Rick Fields, Jerry Germann, Tommy Davis, Gary Coyle, Jerry Hester, Rob Lewis, Peter Adams and Jeff Joiner. STANFORD - Mrs. Loraine Kennedy Holtzclaw, 82, of Stanford passed away at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville on Friday, July 4, 2008, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Tuesday, July 14, 1925, in Marion County to the late Peter and Lula Sprinkles Kennedy and later moved to Stanford. She received her education at Crab Orchard High School.

She was the widow of Hugh Sam Holtzclaw and was preceded in death by three brothers, Rudolph Sr., Morris and William Kennedy.

Prior to marriage, she was employed by the Southern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. Later she was employed by the new Begley Walgreen Agency drug store as one of the original fountain operators. She also helped for many years in the family business.

Mrs. Holtzclaw was a longtime member of the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church and held various positions of service. She was involved in community groups such as homemakers. She also enjoyed playing Rook and Bridge.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue (Gary) Coyle of Lexington and Kaye (Tommy) Davis of Stanford; and four grandchildren, Katie Coyle of Lexington, Samuel Coyle of Cincinnati, Hugh Clayton Davis of Stanford and Mark Davis of Lexington. She also is survived by a sister, Evelyn Brown of Advance, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Hugh Clayton Davis, Mark Davis, Samuel Coyle, Mike Gann, David Brown and Dr. Donald Holtzclaw.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Sarah Cropper Holtzclaw, 99, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Boone County, died Sunday, June 22, at Rockland Place.

Mrs. Holtzclaw attended Burlington High School and University of Kentucky where she graduated in 1930 with a degree in education. She taught elementary school for a number of years in Kentucky and also was very active in the Burlington Baptist Church and her garden club.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Holtzclaw, a longtime Lincoln County farmer, teacher and school administrator.

Survivors include her two sons, Lee Holtzclaw of Chadds Ford, Pa., and Dan Holtzclaw of Waterford, Mich.; six granddaughters; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery, 630 Ky. 78, Stanford.

Lawrence Nolan Kendrick, 68, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from injuries received in an accident while on his third mission trip to Russia through the Eastern Kentucky Overseas Mission.

Born April 8, 1940, in Boyle County, he was the son of Hazel Walls Kendrick of Danville and the late Melvin Herschel Kendrick.

Lawrence graduated from Stanford High School, where he played football and basketball, followed by a tour of duty in the Air Force. Lawrence loved the Lord and his church, Junction City First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and children's Sunday School teacher.

Lawrence was a sales representative for Bush Hog, a former member of Gideon's International, and a volunteer and current board member of Boyle County Habitat for Humanity. Lawrence collected chess sets from around the world, was an avid golfer, a University of Kentucky sports fan and Boyle County football fan. He was a former Little League coach. He spoke with deeds.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ramona Kendrick; three sons, Larry Nolan (Jaime) Kendrick II, Peter Sean (Susie) Kendrick and Mark Herschel (Kathy) Kendrick, all of Danville; a sister, Sue Britton of Danville; a brother Neil (Janet) Kendrick of Knoxville; and nine grandchildren, Raechel, Jared, Keegan, Benjamin, Kelsey, Mia, Kole, Jacob and Mackenzie. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Kendrick.

The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Junction City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Denton and the Rev. Ernest Martin. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Larry Walls, Dale Walls, Tom Young, Raymond Kelley, Philip Whitt, Mike Hatfield, Glenn Wethington and Jackie Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Junction City First Baptist Church, Russian mission team members and Dr. R. Finley Hendrickson.

Joesph Huffman Kirkpatrick, former Lincoln County Sheriff and Jailer, died Sunday Sept.15th, at Fort Logan Hospital

The Lincoln County Native was retired from public service .He was 83. In addition to his career in Politics, he was a past Deacon of Stanford Christian Cnurch.

He is survived by his wife Estelle Merriman Kirkpatrick, four sons: Joe Kirkpatrick Jr, of Florence, William Kirkpatrick of

Hustonville, Glynn Kirkpatrick of Danville, James Kirkpatrick of Danville. Three daughters:  Maxine Fazioll of Troy N.Y., Sandra Whitworth of Venice Fla., and Patricia Burton of Stanford.

Three brothers: Lee Kirkpatrick of Hsrrodsburg, Harry Kirkpatrick of Danville, Walter Kirkpatrick of Nicholasville, and one sister,  Ethel Feistritzer of Hustonville,  25 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

MORELAND - Audrey Louise Simpson Maddox, 80, of Butchertown died Thursday, July 10, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Elliott Simpson, a homemaker and a member of Moreland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Bobby (Linda) Maddox of Hustonville; two daughters, Maxine (Ron) Hackerson of Stanford and Marlene Gasser of Lexington; one brother, Robert Lewis Simpson of Lexington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Maddox; a son, Neal Maddox; and a granddaughter, Shonda Montooth.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Moreland First Baptist Church by Brother James Harley with burial in Maxey Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jay Norman, Mark Maddox, Ronnie and Jonathan Hackerson, Matthew Simpson, Randy Southerland and Austin Stangle. Honorary pallbearers are Robin Maddox and Malissa Craig.

A native of Cincinnatti Ohio, he was born Aug.4th, 1959 to James and Edith Mann of Somerset Ky. An employee of Lincoln Pallet Mill in Highland.

Survivors: include his wife, Palma Mason Mann of  Kings Mountain , two daughters: Jennifer Marie and Jessica Leann Mann at home. Three brothers: James Keith Mann of Cincinnatti, Michael Crit Mann of Somerset, Eric Scott Mann of Tennessee, a sister,  Rhonda Mae Wesley of  Science Hill.

Mildred D. Martin, 84, died Tuesday, June 23 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

A native of Brownsville, she was born Saturday, May 24, 1924 to the late Elbert and Susie Tomes Duvall. She received her master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in elementary education, taught at Stanford and McKinney Elementary Schools, and was active in Lincoln County Retired Teachers Association, a member of Stanford Baptist Church, and the widow of Russell Harold Martin.

Survivors include two nieces, Denise Keller and Susan (Steve) Scott both of Louisville; and a host of friends from Stanford Baptist Church and Lincoln County.

Funeral services were June 26 at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Max Hester officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Opal Marie Martin of Kings Moutain died Monday, May 19, 2008 at her home. She was 79.
Born in Walltown on Nov. 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ernest David and Roxie Ridner Dunham.
She was a former employee of Osh B'Gosh, a member of the Grove Ridge Baptist Church, and the widow of Sherman Allen Martin.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Allen Martin of Alamagardo, New Mexico, Donald Ray Martin of Liberty and Randall Dale Martin of Yosemite; a daughter, Connie Gail Davis of Versailles; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-sisters, Christine McLean of Cincinnati and Magdalene Wiles of Nebo; five half-sisters, Angelene Elliot and Ernestine Hause, both of Cincinnati, Isolene Adams of Russell Springs, Evelene Burton of Dry Ridge, and Pauline Thompson of Reading, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Floyd; a half-brother, William Harold Dunham; and a step-brother, Walter Leigh.
Funeral services were May 23 at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kevin Pittman. Burial was in the Grove Ridge Cemetery.

Born Dec. 19, 1935, in Lincoln County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Dillard and Reba Gooch Frederick. She was retired from Stanford House nursing home after 17 years and a member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church.

John Paul Pitts, 45, of Crab Orchard, died Sunday, July 6 at his home.

A native of Lexington, he was born Sept. 12, 1962 to John Mason and Betty Carrier Pitts. He was a longtime resident of Baytown, Texas where he was a 1981 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and a journeyman plumber for Green Mechanical of Lexington.

Other survivors include two daughters, Katosha Thornsberry and Megan Pitts; four sisters, Terry Ann Hardy, Tammy Lynn (Nelson) Green, Tracey Rae (Coby) Langford, and Tiffani Irene (Allen) Weston; six nieces, Casey Lespade, Cadi Pitts, April and Paige Green, Chelsea Langford, and Addison Grace Weston; four nephews, Private Joshua (Kasey) Hardy, Jarret Hardy, Mason Langford and Justice Weston; one great niece, Emmery Lespade; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were July 11 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Matthew Hall officiating. Burial was in the Pitts Family Cemetery in Crab Orchard.

Delmer Ratcliff, 83 of Waynesburg, diedTuesday, June 17 at his residence.

A native of Letcher County, he was born Monday, Sept. 1, 1924 to the late Elmer and Ottie Eldridge Ratcliff. He was a dairy farmer and a World War II Army veteran.

He was also preceded in death by a half brother, Thurman Griffie; and a daughter, Alice Ratcliff.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Tackett Ratcliff of Waynesburg; two sons, Harold (Betty) Ratcliff and Dale (Dorothy) Ratcliff, both of Waynesburg; a daughter, Sharon (Louie) Wilson of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Christy Ellison, D.J. Wilson, Jason Ratcliff, Chris Wilson and Shana Ratcliff; four great grandchildren, Chasity Ellison, George R. “Bubby” Ellison, Laura Wilson, and Maddie Wilson.

A native of Lincoln County she was born Jan.5th,1912 to the late Joseph Baugh and Ada Young Baugh.

  A retired Dry Cleaner and a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

Charles Everett Rogers, 83, of Stanford, died Monday, June 9 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Broughtontown, he was born Feb. 24, 1925 to the late George and Bessie Ann Delaney Rogers. He worked as a machine operator for Fiberglass Evercoat, was a member of the Crab Orchard Old Regular Baptist Church, an Army veteran, and the widower of Thelma Petrey Rogers.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Henry Rogers; and three sisters, Alice Hensley, Maude Harness, and Martha Bowen.

Survivors include a son, Larry (Shari) Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Cecil Rogers of Danville; and three grandchildren, Evan, Kyle, and Megan Rogers.

Funeral services will be today (June 12) at 10:30 a.m. at the McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Murl Caudill and Arnold and Haston Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Frank Saylor, 70, of Crab Orchard died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Frank was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 25, 1938, to the late John and Tollie Johnson Saylor. He was a retired employee of the Allen Construction Co. and a veteran of the Army.

Survivors include three sons, Anthony (Deborah) Saylor of Stanford, Mark (Karen) Saylor of Kings Mountain and Tim Saylor of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Juanita (Larry) Pettit of Crab Orchard; a sister, Bessie Pingleton of Copper Creek; three brothers, Woodrow Saylor of Brodhead, Jack Saylor of Crab Orchard and Dave Saylor of Brodhead; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tollie Saylor; sisters, Gerene Rider, Johniva Guinn, Jean Pingleton and Geneva Saylor; and a brother, A.J. Saylor.

A native of Corbin, she was born Nov. 18, 1923 to the late Henry and Ollie Cupp Ellison. She was a homemaker, a member of Harrodsburg Church of God, and the widow of Roy Short.

Short of Stanford and Paul Roy Short of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Kathleen Andrews of Addison, Ala.; four brothers, Herman, Bobby, Darrell and Glen Ellison; nine sisters, Hester Leise, Opal Leise, Estellene Noe, Lela Durham, Zella Lawson, Verlon Ramsey, Jean Fuson, Ruby Brock, and Sandra Ellison; 21 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

STANFORD - Ollis Smith, 77, of New Salem died Sunday at Christian Care Center.

Born Oct. 8, 1928, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Lilly Fletcher Smith. He was a farmer, a member of New Salem Baptist Church and a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Korean War. He was the widower of Shirley Mae Anderson Smith.

Survivors include three sons, Bennett Dale Smith (Brenda) and Ronnie Smith (Vickie), both of Hustonville, and Leslie Eric Smith (Robin) of Harlan; a daughter, Connie Richey (Steve) of Hustonville; two brothers, Benny Smith of Stanford and Lester Smith of Hustonville; two sisters, Peggy Coffman and Wilmoth Cain, both of Hustonville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Salem Baptist Church by the Rev. Matt Jones. Burial will be in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Daniel Richey, Jordon Smith, Nathan Thompson, Eric Brown and Ryan Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Cade, John McKay, Ernest Byrd and Kenneth Austin. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

STANFORD - Granville Hayward Southerland, 63, of Nicholasville passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Lexington.

Born Sunday, Jan. 7, 1945, in Stanford, Ky., to the late Hayward Southerland and Noreen Carrier Peck of Waynesburg, Granville worked for General Motors, IBM and retired as an iron worker from Local 44 Iron Workers Union. He loved storms and watching the weather. After residing in Cincinnati for many years, he became an avid Bearcats and Bengals fan.

Granville was preceded in death by his father, Hayward; and a brother, David.

Granville leaves behind his daughter, Ruth Ann Schulz and her husband Tony of Fairfield, Ohio; his mother, Noreen Peck and her husband Cecil of Waynesburg; two sisters, Agatha Patterson and her husband Ron of Stanford, and Ruth Souleyrette and her husband Roy of Lexington; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service is 3 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. David Gambrel officiating. Burial will be private in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Greg Reed, Ronnie and Steve Patterson, Jeff and Doug Souleyrette, and Jonathan, Andrew and Robert Brock will serve as the pallbearers.

Virginia White Stigall, 97, of Louisville, died Thursday, June 12, at Jefferson Place.

A native of Crab Orchard, she was born April 7, 1911 to the late Robert C. and Catharine Horton White. She was a retired employee of the Old L and N Railroad, member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church, Wildwood Country Club, the Organ Club, and the National Association of Retired Railroad Employees, and the widow of Carroll Allen, J. W. Stevenson, and Clyde Stigall.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy White Walters; brothers, John C. and James P. White; and a niece, Alice Leczo.

Survivors include a stepson, Jack Stevenson of Smyrna Ga.; four step grandchildren; three nieces, Nancy Wills of Florence, Roberta Godby of Louisville, and Linda Akel of Franklin, Tenn.; two nephews, James P. White, Jr. of Reno, Nev., and John White of Naples Fla.; a host of great nephews and nieces; and friends including Larry Ashley.

Funeral services were June 16 at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

LIBERTY - Charles P. Taylor, 65, of Liberty died Friday. He was the widower of Jean Hogue Taylor.

Born April 8, 1943, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Colonel and May Floyd Black. He was a carpenter.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Wesley of Bethelridge; two grandchildren, Cory and Dustin Wesley; a special friend, Edith Salyers and her children; a brother, Thomas Taylor of Mercer County; and a sister, Geraldine Webb of Florida.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel by Bros. David Terwilliger and Kevin Pittman. Burial wll be in Grove Ridge Cemetery.

STANFORD - Effie Fay Berry Taylor, 67, of Stanford died Thursday, June 19, at Fort Logan Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Richard and Pida Lanham Berry. She was a homemaker and a 1960 graduate of McKinney High School.

She is survived by her husband, David Taylor of Stanford; two brothers, Elmer Berry of Frankfort and Russell David Berry of Waynesburg; three sisters, twin Betty Miracle, Blanche Moore and Aileen Berry, all of Stanford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.  Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors are: wife Sabra Baugh Toombs, three sons: Mack Toombs and Herbert M.Toombs, both of Hustonville, James E.Toombs of Glenesa Ohio, 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, one Great Great Grandchild

Funeral held at Fox Funeral Home by Revs.: Jeff Oliver and John Lowry. Burial with Masonic Service  was in McKinney Cemetery.

Ida Zella Young, 94, of Pewee Valley, formerly of Stanford, died Thursday, July 10.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born Sunday, March 29, 1914 to the late Hiram and Sally Hutchinson Young. She was a homemaker, a member of the Green River Pentecostal Church, and the widow of Maynis Harlan Young.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Sterling G. Young; and sisters, Roxie Reed, Louanna Sizemore, Josephine Gourley, and Stella Jenkins.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (John) Bott of Louisville; two sons, Jessie Barnett of Stanford and Doyle (Wilma) Young of West Chester, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were July14 at the Green River Pentecostal Church with Rev. Rick Naylor officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Fox Funeral Home of Stanford was in charge of the arrangements.

STANFORD - Tyler Lee Marty Young, infant son of Savannah Wilder and Marty Ray Young Jr., died July 4, 2008, in Crab Orchard. He was born Wednesday, June 11, 2008, in Stanford at Ephraim McDowell/Fort Logan Hospital.

Other survivors include a brother, Trenton Ray Young of Stanford; maternal grandparents, Laymon Berchie (Lorene) Wilder of Stanford and Susan (Ricky) Johnson of Crab Orchard; paternal grandparents, Marty Ray Young Sr. of Paducah and Lois (Ray) Krages of Louisville; a stepgreat-grandmother, Cora Privett of Stanford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crab Orchard Cemetery by the Rev. Roger Stevens.
