CRAB ORCHARD- Silverene Adams, 87, of Crab Orchard died Saturday at her home. She was born on Oct. 8, 1921, in Pulaski County to the late Elbert and Dolly Atkins Godbey.

She was the widow of Chester Adams. She was a homemaker and a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven children, Shirley Stringer of Stanford, Gladys Church (Russell) of Nicholasville, Janet Plowman of Crab Orchard, Danny R. Adams (Pam) of Downey, Calif., Sheila Clausen (Dennis) of Crab Orchard, Judy Jacobs (Chuck) of Waynesburg and Chester W. Adams (Kim) of Danville; a brother, Hoover Godbey of Stanford; two sisters, Flonnie Phillips of Lancaster and Marcella Floyd of Ladson, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crab Orchard Baptist Church. The Revs. Kaywood Morris and Roger Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - Alma Mae Sears Adkins, 73, of Stanford, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospice Care Unit in Lexington.

She was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 13, 1936, to the late Willie T. and Ada Yocum Sears. Alma was a homemaker and a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Adkins Jr.

Survivors include three daughters; three sons; a sister; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

An Appreciation of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Stevens with burial to follow in McKinney Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

CRAB ORCHARD - Maggie A. Barron Baker, 83, of Lexington, formerly of Crab Orchard, Ky., died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at her home.

Maggie was the wife of the late William D. Baker who preceded her in death on May 12, 2002.

Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Flora Mae Stevens Barron.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou Belson of Lexington; sons, John Lewis Barron of Lexington, Charles E. Barron of Nicholasville, Ricky Joe Blankenship of Indiana, Billy Raymond Blankenship of Crab Orchard and Timmy David Blankenship of Prison Tennconly, Texas; a brother, Robert Barron of Mount Vernon; sisters, Locie Barron and Mary Hunt, both of Mount Vernon; a special friend, Sharon O'hair of Nicholasville; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maggie was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Herman Barron, and two sisters, Gracie Owens and Martha Swinney.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Roger Keith Baker Sr., 78, of Hustonville, formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Rockcastle Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Born Feb. 13, 1931, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Earl Cecil Baker Sr. and Jennie Rogers Baker.

Roger was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service, having worked for 27 years at the Crab Orchard and Brodhead offices.

He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge 636 and Crab Orchard Baptist Church. Roger was also a former member of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association.

Survivors Include three daughters, Vicki Baker Folger of Lancaster, Nina Jo Ryles of Lexington and Stacy Jan Keeling of Hustonville; a son, Roger Keith (Regina) Baker Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashley Gray, Weston Keith Folger, Jason Tanner Ryles, Lindsay Bo Ryles, Jennie Michelle Baker, Jessica Lynn Baker, Sarah Kayleen Rogers and Britney Nicole Keeling; and three great-grandchildren, Leah Hailey Grace, Marley Jo and Max Tanner Ryles.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Jean Baker; a brother, Earl "E.C." Baker; sisters, Elizabeth Baker, Bake Young, Martha Dyehouse, Jamie Newland, Ann Mullins and Sue Hale.

The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. David Fralix. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery with military rites by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Ryles, Weston Folger, Martin Sherrow, Lonnie Pruitt, Rodney Elam, Jimmy Gover and Kyle McKnight.

STANFORD - Lorraine Godby Martin Baugh, 84, of Stanford passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, at Golden Living Center in Stanford, a few hours before her 85th birthday.

Born May 18, 1924, in Paxton, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Henry Arnold and Georgia Sykes Godby. She was a retired prison guard at La Grange Penitentiary and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Craig Baugh of Stanford; a son, Sammy Martin (Martina) of Lancaster; two brothers, Henry Godby of Portage, Ind., and Osprey Godby of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Georgia Ann Lewis of Stanford; two grandchildren, Tammy Gilbert (Michael) of Salem, Va.; and Stephanie Martin of Nicholasville; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Andrew Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Martin; and a brother, Perle Godby.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spurlin Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Denton officiating. Burial will be at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Etta Marie Allen Benge, 92, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, May 26 at the Golden Living Center in Stanford.

A native of Crandon, Wisc., she was born June 1, 1916, to the late Stephen Farris and Nannie Jane Miller Allen. She was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church and the Lincoln County Senior Citizens and the widow of Johnie Milton Benge.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Allen; and a sister, Madgelee Oaks.

Survivors include three nephews and one niece.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today (May 28) at the Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery with Betsy Smith officiating.

McKnight Funeral Home of Crab Orchard is in charge of the arrangements.

CRAB ORCHARD - Freddie W. Bratcher, 90, died Sunday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born June 19, 1918, in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late John and Amelia Benke Bratcher. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, the American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal.

He was a member of the 3607th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. He received an honorable discharge Nov. 17, 1945, having served four years and four months.

He was the husband of Barbara Marie Kielbasa Bratcher, whom he married Aug. 26, 1947, and from their union came five children, John (Patricia) Bratcher of Lexington, Jeannie Fitzpatrick of Stanford, Helen (Raymond) Schuler of Waynesburg, Mary Ann (Roger) Adams and David (Sonja) Bratcher, both of Crab Orchard; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church by Father Tobias Sabariar. Burial will be in St. Sylvester Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.

Pallbearers will be Michael Bratcher, Stephen Schuler, Christopher Bratcher, William Bratcher, Joe Bratcher and Andy Bratcher.

MORELAND - George Dewey Brown, 75, of Moreland died Friday.

Born July 11, 1933, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Forest and Mary Passmore Brown. He was a retired forklift operator for Pioneer Vocational and a member of Junction City First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Kim (Charlotte) Brown, Ronnie (Carolyn) Brown, Jeff (Tracy) Brown and Roger (Beulah) Brown, all of Hustonville; three daughters, Rita Brown of Junction City, and Paula (Chris) Davis and Kathy Brown, both of Moreland; three brothers, Hubert, Lewis and Jerry Brown; four sisters, Pauline Hale, Virginia Hale, Jeannie Young and Evelyn Stokes; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children, Donald Ray and Vickie Hume.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary Margaret Chadwell, 79, of Bloomington, Ind., and a former resident of Orleans, died Friday, May 22 at Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville, Ind.

A native of Stanford, she was born Jan. 27, 1930, to the late Hugh Reid and Berta Mae (Howard) Foster. She was a homemaker, member of Bloomington Baptist Church and formerly married to Loyd Chadwell, who resides in Clarksville, Ind.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Greg Chadwell.

Survivors include a son, Frank Chadwell of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Mary (Mike) Edwards of Bloomington; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Graveside services were May 27 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Orleans.

CRAB ORCHARD - Paula Sue Blanton Chandler, 45, of Crab Orchard passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at her home. She was the wife of Charlie E. Chandler, whom she married on March 23, 1984.

Born March 17, 1964, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of Neal Blanton and the late Barbara Jean Hiatt Blanton.

Survivors Include her husband, Charlie Chandler of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Barbara Sue and husband Brandon Prewitt; her father, Neal Blanton; brothers, Jimmie and wife Linda Blanton, Gary Blanton Brother, Russell Neal Blanton Jr. and wife Amy, and Chris Blanton; sisters, Regina Blanton, Twila Blanton, Bobbie Lynn Blanton, Lisia and husband Gary Noland, Shanda and husband Michael Hawkins, and Rachel Blanton; and three grandchildren, Taylor Nicole, Issac Brandon and Alyssa Brooke.

CRAB ORCHARD - Glenn Edward Day, 56, of Stanford passed away Tuesday in Waynesburg after a farming accident.

Born on Oct. 1, 1952, in London, he was the son of Homer Day Sr., of Stanford, and the late Margaret Lewis Day. He was the husband of Nola Callahan Day, who he married on May 21, 1972.

He was a member of Crossroad Assembly of God and was a member and past master of Masonic Lodge No. 60, having served for 28 years.

Other survivors include his wife, Nola Callahan Day; five sisters, Brenda and husband Danny Callahan of Stanford, Shirley and husband Jerry Masters of London, Juanita and husband Floyd Rowe of Waynesburg, Anna Day of Tallapoosa, Ga., Retha Herron of Eatontown, Ga.; two brothers, Jerry and wife Audrey Day of London and Homer Day Jr.; and special friend Connie Davis of Stanford; two grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Richie Hawley, Harold Herring, Teddy Day, Mark Rowe, Randy Rowe and Homer Day Jr.

STANFORD - Retired Maj. Gen. Robert L. DeZarn, 75, of Stanford, formerly of Richmond, Ashland and Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Stanford.

Born Tuesday, June 27, 1933, to the late Robert C. and Alma Smyth DeZarn, he was a former shipping foreman of Armco Steel with more than 34 years of service to the company.

Robert enlisted in the Kentucky Army National Guard in 1953, entering as a private and retiring as the adjutant general of the Kentucky National Guard with more than 42 years of service to state and nation. He served his country as a 1st Lt. in the Army, second battalion, 14th armored cavalry regiment in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1955-1957.

Robert graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in commerce. He was a member of the National Guard Association of Kentucky, National Rifle Association and the American Legion Post No. 34 in Lawrenceburg.

Robert leaves behind his wife, Juliane Wiedekamp DeZarn of Stanford and their children: a daughter, Debra Lynn DeZarn and her partner Carol-Ann Smith and her son, James-Michael Smith, all of Maryland; a son, William Robert "Bill" DeZarn and his wife Cindy of Cincinnati, Ohio, with their children Jenny and Chris DeZarn; and a daughter, Angela D. Todd and her husband Jason of Stanford.

An appreciation of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Reed, Chaplain Lt. Col. David Graetz and Chaplain Capt. William Draper officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at College Hill Methodist Cemetery in Waco, with Rev. Che Haselwood and chaplains Graetz and Draper officiating, and full military honors by the Kentucky National Guard.

MARION - Roy Lee Dye, age 73, of 267 West Center St., Marion passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at 11:00 p.m. in his home. He was born on July 14, 1935 in Stanford, Ky. to the late Mary Adams Dye Burke. Roy was a member of the Richland Road Church of Christ. For 32 years he worked for Better Homes Construction Co. of Marion before starting the Dye Construction Co. which he owned and operated for 18 years.

His first wife, Charlotte Dye, preceded him in death in 1986. On October 1, 1988 Roy married Carolyn Sue Lust in Marion and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Andrea Schlitt of Marion and, Celena (Marty) Rosser of Newbern, Ohio; one brother, John (Grace) Dye of Marion; two sisters, Martha Rease (Reece)  and Georgia (Elton) Timmons both of Marion; four grandchildren, Matt & Justin Schlitt, Megan Clark, and Candy (Jason) Calhoun; and one great grandchild, Candon Calhoun. Preceding him in death along with his 1st wife were a son, Ricky Dye; two brothers, Arlen & George Dye; and three sisters, Mary Spears, Bessie Knickeran, (Knickrehm) and Erma Hildebrand. A memorial service for Roy will be held in the Harding Center, 267 West Center St., on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Taylor and Rev. Russell Howard will conduct the service and burial will be at a late date in the Larue Cemetery. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

MORELAND - Alma Atchley Eades, 88, of Frankfort, died Thursday, May 14, 2009.

Born May 11, 1921, in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Nellie Sullivan Atchley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy R. Eades; one son, Bobby Eades; and one brother, Emmet Dale Atchley.

Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie (Delbert) Maddox and Ruth (Rickey) Cochran, both of Moreland, Kathy (Ken) Fletcher of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Nellene New of Shelbyville; five sons, Randall Eades of Junction City, Kenneth (Karen) Eades of Hustonville, Conn Eades of Independence, Manuel (Anette) Eades of Georgetown and Keith (Brigette) Eades of Shelbyville; one daughter-in-law, Mary Eades; four brothers and two sisters, Chester, Joseph, Millard and DeWayne Atchle, and Opal Gentry and Jean Tichenor, all of Indiana; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and special caregivers for nine years, Rickey and Rosanna Blankenship of Frankfort.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral home by Rev. Keith Willoughby, with burial in Moreland Cemetery. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.

LEXINGTON - Darrel Eugene Greer, 74, died Saturday, May 16, at St. Joseph Hospital after a long battle of complications from temporal arteritis. He retired from IBM in Lexington after 31 years of service as a quality engineer. He was a faithful, active and beloved member of Parkway Baptist Church where he served as chairman of trustees, chairman of ushers, and a member of the pastor search committee. He was a Kentucky Colonel, always helping others, and was highly respected by everyone who knew him. He enjoyed spending time playing ball, deer hunting, fishing, camping and golfing.

Pa's most treasured times were spent with his "buddies," his grandsons. He loved being with his family and friends.

Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vivian Eldridge Greer; his three devoted daughters, Terry (Allan) Watson, Kim Curtis and Jan Greer; three precious grandsons, Rich and Taylor Watson and Ryan Curtis, all of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Nadine (Leonard) Wilder of Sharonville, Ohio; two brothers, Wayne (Joan) Greer of Danville, Ky., and Kenneth (Joyce) Greer of Nicholasville, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Carole Greer of Winchester, Ky., many nieces, nephews and relatives; a host of friends and a supportive church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Geneva Sweeney Greer, formerly of Waynesburg, Ky.; and a brother, the Rev. Leon Greer, formerly of Winchester.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkway Baptist Church, 1915 North Broadway, Lexington, KY 40505, by the Rev. Gerald Bishop. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery in Lincoln County, Ky.

STANFORD - Mabel B. Hacker, 84, of Stanford died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born May 23, 1924, in McKinney, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Osborne Baugh and Emma Joyner Baugh Davis. She was the widow of Samuel Edgar "Eddie" Hacker, to whom she was married for 47 years. She was the postmistress at McKinney, Ky., for 40 years, worked at the Air Service Command at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during World War II and was the bookkeeper for Thompson Motors in Stanford. She was a member of McKinney Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Samuel G. Hacker of Villa Hills, Ky., and David S. Hacker of Stanford; a foster daughter, Donna Hacker Austin of Hustonville; a sister, Lillian McPherson of Ludlow, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Gregory, Laurie, Steven, Robert and William Hacker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gaines Baugh, and a sister, Barbara Bishop.

The service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKinney Baptist Church. The Revs: Albert Giesler and Paul Hines will officiate.

She was born July 20, 1939, to the late Louis and Ophelia Spires Vanhook.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri Faust of Lexington; a son, Ronnie Lawrence of Nicholasville; a sister, Sharon Kayes of Atlanta; a brother, Bob Vanhook of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Christy Thomas, Jamie Lawrence, Jeremy Creech, Mindy Rohr and Caitlin Faust; and three great-grandchildren.

Jesse Francis Hay, 89, of Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh, Pa., died on Thursday, May 28.

She was born in 1919, in Stanford, to the late Kelly J. and Margaret H. Francis. She was a graduate of Stanford High School and the University of Kentucky and the widow of Malcolm Hay.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Sally Francis Gage, Margaret Francis and Cabell Francis, Sr.; and one daughter.

Survivors include four children; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three step children; six step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Francis; nephew, Cabell Francis, II; and nieces, Alissa Horseman and Margaret Seifert.

Funeral services were June 3 at Fox Chapel Episcopal Church. Burial was in the Homewood Cemetery, Pennsylvania.

MORELAND - Dorothy Louise Gibson Henson, 77, of Nicholasville died Friday.

Born Aug. 28, 1931, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Rose Ann Snow Gibson. She worked for more than 13 years at Palm Beach and was a clerk at Drug Mart for more than 35 years. She attended the Baptist Church in Nicholasville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Ray Henson.

Survivors include two stepsons, Henry (Jacklene) Henson and Samuel Jack Henson, both of Nicholasville; two stepdaughters, Joan (Jimmy) Caudill of Richmond and Carolyn (Kenny) Stratton of Moreland; and three sisters, Kathleen Davenport of Burgin, and Evelyn Davenport and Ruth Atwood, both of Lexington.

Born Sept. 22, 1928, in DeKalb, Ill., to the late Tony Harlan Simpson and Pearl Yates Simpson, she was a homemaker and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Rose had been a NASCAR fan since 1967.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond "Red" Middleton; two sons, Ray Middleton (Mary) of Stanford and Eddie Wayne Middleton (Barbara) of Concorde, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

STANFORD - Marion V. Montgomery, 86, of Stanford, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born on Thursday, June 29, 1922, in Pineville, La., she was a daughter of the late Marion D. and Winifred Aguillard Arrington. She was the widow of Manuel C. Montgomery.

Marion graduated from Dry Prong High School and attended Louisiana College. She served two years in the Navy during World War II, working a year at the Bureau of Ships in Washington, D.C. She attended Eastern Kentucky University receiving a bachelor of science and a master's degree. She retired from teaching in the Lincoln County School System. She was a member of McKinney Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, church librarian and treasurer.

Marion leaves behind two sons, Michael Montgomery and his wife Asara of Louisville and William Montgomery and his wife Charlotte of Stanford; and two grandchildren, Kallen Wright and Adam Montgomery.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery with Bro. Paul Hines officiating.

STANFORD - William Ronald Patterson, 71, of Stanford died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospice Unit in Lexington.

Born Oct. 30, 1937, in Danville, he was a son of the late Ira Edward and Clara VonGruenigen Patterson. He was a retired technician for IBM/Lexmark after 33 years of service and a former delivery person for Hassloch Office Supplies and Hurst Printing.

He graduated in 1955 from Stanford High School, attended Tennessee Tech University where he played basketball and attended College of the Cumberlands. He was an Army Reservist for 12 years, a member of the 101 Club and New Beginnings United Methodist Church.

Ronnie was an avid sports fan, especially University of Kentucky basketball and football, as he had a passion for sports and spending time with his grandsons. He will be remembered for his delightfulness, love of life and his spirit.

Survivors include his wife, Agatha Southerland Patterson of Stanford; his children, William R. Lydia "Linda" Blanton Perlman, born March 24, 1919, at George's Creek, Lawrence County, Ky., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. She resided at Wesley Village in Wilmore, Ky., for the past two years.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert H. Perlman of Henderson, Nev., a daughter, Judith (Ron) Edwards of Lancaster, Ky.; a son, David Perlman of Henderson, Nev.; three sisters, Peggy Putteet of Stanford, Ky., Pauline (Dewey) Hacker of Fairfield, Ohio, and Betty (Eullas) Jacobs of Russell Springs, Ky.; four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Her penchant for travel took her to many parts of the United States as well as Germany and several parts of Europe. A greater part of her life was spent in the northwest area of Florida where she worked as a Realtor. She will be greatly missed for the love and support she provided her family throughout the years.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, Ky. Internment will follow at Parlor Grove Cemetery in Waynesburg, Ky.

She had retired from the Lincoln County Extension Office, was a teller at the McKinney branch of the Lincoln County National Bank, a member of the McKinney Baptist Church and widow of James Lee Phelps, Sr.

Survivors include two sons James Phelps, Jr., of Hustonville, Michael Lee (Lisa) Phelps of Garrard County; a daughter Linda K. (Robert) Roskins of Chapman, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

STANFORD - Norman "Pop" Roberts, 69, of Stanford passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Sunday, Jan. 28, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late Glen and Sally Ella Horn Roberts. He was a printer, retired from The Harrodsburg Herald and was associated for a period of time with R.R. Donnelley, Bluegrass Printing, The Interior Journal and Host Communications. Pop was a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church, enjoyed Bluegrass music and traveling around to car shows with his old cars. He will be remembered for his love of woodworking and carpentry, especially cabinet making.

Survivors include his loving wife, whom he married on Sept. 3, 1960, Billie June Hughes Roberts of Stanford; his daughters, Sandra Rosenberger and her husband Scott of Nicholasville and Pamela Kirkpatrick and her husband Greg of Hall's Gap; a sister, Alene Rice and her husband Jesse of Highland; his mother-in-law, Geneva Hughes of Stanford; three sisters-in-law, Evon Gooch, Lorraine McKinney and Geraldine Reece, all of Lincoln County; two grandchildren, Brent Norman Cain and Whitney June Marcum; five stepgrandchildren, Nicholas and Eric Rosenberger, Nick Woodcox, Laura and Hannah Kirkpatrick; and his beloved companions, Mocha and Copper.

WAYNESBURG - Vestina Stimetz, 70, of Cincinnati died Sunday.

Born June 20, 1939, in Middlesboro, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mahale Evans Parton. She was a homemaker and the widow of George P. Stimetz.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Raines, Dora Jones and Ruby Stimetz, all of Cincinnati; sons, David L. Stimetz of Ludlow, George E. Stimetz of Cincinnati and Glenn R. Stimetz of Falmouth; a brother, Troy Parton of Chicago; an aunt, Mary Bullins of Middlesboro; 24 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at K.P. Hall Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Dolphus "Dock" Taylor, 73, of Waynesburg, died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his home.

Dock was born on Thursday, Feb. 6, 1936, in Lincoln County to the late Walter and Etta Houck Taylor. He was a dairy farmer, loved his family and helped raise several sisters and a brother.

He leaves behind his wife Bonnie Buis of Waynesburg, whom he wed on Friday, Dec. 13, 1957; two sons, Tommy (Kim) Taylor of Waynesburg and Tim (Dana) Taylor of Stanford; a brother, Clinton (Carolyn) Taylor of Waynesburg; four sisters, Deloris (Glen) Waldcutter of Seymour, Ind., Doris (Bennie) Livengood of Stanford, Dixie (Larry) Deines of Alexandria, Ind., and Georgia Lee (Bob) Earnest of Madison, Ind.; five grandchildren, Tyrone, Tiffany and Talyn Taylor, and Raelyn and Lee Amon; and his caretaker Beth, whom he loved dearly.

Dock was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert, Deward and Dallas; and a sister, Daisy.

An appreciation of life service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with the Revs. Jackson Denham and Ferlin Price officiating. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

Margaret Ware Tillett, 80, of Stanford, died Thursday, June 11 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

A native of Lincoln County, she was born July 1, 1928, to the late Roy and Carrie Wade Ware. She was a homemaker and a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Bruce and Troy Harness.

Survivors include her husband, Lucien Ray Tillett; a son, Roger Ray (Billie Jean) Tillett of Lancaster; a daughter, Donna Dean Singleton of Danville; a sister, Mabel Cornett of Corbin; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 15 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Revs. Ernest Martin and Michael Cox officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Dec. 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Jessie and Eva Unthank. He was retired from California Safeway Groceries.

WAYNESBURG - Carol Sue Vaught, 60, of Somerset, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born on Tuesday, March 29, 1949, in Hamilton County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Sadie Williams Todd.

Carol was the owner of four nursing home locations for 20 years in Waynesburg, McCreary County, Hart County and Scottsville. She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Somerset.

Carol leaves behind her sons, James Anthony (Tara) Vaught of Lexington and Michael (Shawn) Paul Vaught of Eubank; a companion, Charles Dykes of Somerset; a stepmother, Nina Todd of Stanford; a step-granddaughter, Kennidy Jeyden; and a host of friends and other relatives.

An appreciation of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home, with Bro. Shelby Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home.

Born May 4, 1917, in Johnson County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late David A. and Eliza Wright Jones. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, Howard Jones of Beckley, W.Va.; and a sister, Delores Crowe of Hammond, Ind. She was preceded in death by husbands, Jake Bell and Bernard Warren.

Nancy Katherine Powell Weber died Wednesday, May 20.

A native of Stanford, she was born Jan. 17, 1927, to the late Ila Newland Powell and Milton Sweeney Powell. She attended nursing school at the University of Kentucky and worked as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington until 1960.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Lowell Weber; and sisters, Mary Walker Smith and Ila Ralston.

Survivors include a brother, Bill Powell; daughters, Julia Ann Weber and Virginia Katherine Weber Denny; son-in-law, David Denny; grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Denny, Rebecca Jeanne Denny, Elijah Ray McKenzie and James Marley McKenzie; her best friend, Marilyn Pfanstiel; and her beloved Katy Miller and Anthony Locker.

Funeral services were May 26 at Trinity Hill United Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Durcilla Baker Young, 65, of Stanford died Saturday at Ft. Logan Hospital in Stanford. Born February 16, 1943 in Oil City, Pulaski County to the late Raymond and Doxie Evelyn Bailey Baker. She was retired from American Greetings after 31 years, she was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church. 

Survivors include her husband of 35 years Ralph Don Young. Her children Tarry Patterson (David), Crystal Brown (Sammy), Raymond Garris (Tabatha), Darren Garris (Paula), Vickie Moore (Krys) all of Stanford, Debbie Norris (Russell) of Mobile, AL, Susie Young, Ron Young (Lori), Danielle "Nanna" Seubert (Jon) all of Appleton, Wisconsin; sisters Aleta Eckstein (Ken), Shari Swanson (Jerry) of Dalton, GA, Karen Taylor (Tom) of Dothan, AL; Two aunts Elma Baker of Somerset and Flora Lovelace of Waynesburg; one uncle Fred Baker of Somerset; three sisters-in-law Sue Woodall, JoAnn Taylor and Norma Young all of Somerset; 22 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, many neices and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers J.E. Baker and Wallace D. Baker. 

Officiating the service will be Reverends Rob Cox and John Lowery. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. 

Casketbearers will be Brian and Jeff Baker, Justin Moore, Nick Brown, Tommy Taylor, Kenny, Kevin and Kyle Garris; Honorary Bearers will be Sammy Brown, Jeremy Vinds, David Patterson and Krys Moore.
