Bro. Robert Lee Ashley, 69, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Eubank, Kentucky on August 31, 1940, son of the late Virgil and Sarah Ellen Shelton Ashley. He was a minister and a member of Elrod First Church of God.

He is survived by three sons, Terry & (Donna) Ashley of Eubank, Tony & (Vicki) Ashley and Tim & (Angela) Ashley, both of Somerset, five brothers, James William Ashley and Delmer Ashley, both of Ohio, 
Glenn Ashley of Nancy, Leo Ashley of Somerset and Bobby Ashley of Eubank, three sisters, Brenda Caldwell and Linda Padgett, both of Eubank and Patsy Dick of Kings Mt., two grandchildren, Brian 
Simpson and Chris & (April) Simpson and three great-grandchildren, Chad Simpson, Emily Simpson and Elijah Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Bryant Ashley, who died on April 9, 2005 and his parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Murphy officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. (Friendship Church Road)

Mollie Baughman, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

She was a native of Stanford, Ky., and lived in Lexington where she was a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories 10 children; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special niece; three nephews; and a host of cousins and other family members.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington; and 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets in Danville.

The funeral service will be noon Monday at First Baptist Church.

Lucy Sparkman Jacobs Beasley, of Newton, AL, formerly of Waynesburg, KY, went home to be with the Lord August 6, 2010.

Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at New Life Church of God of Prophecy in Waynesburg, KY with Vola Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until service time. 
Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery with Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY directing. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street has charge of local arrangements. Memorial donations in 
Lieu of flowers may be given to the Church of God of Prophecy.

Mrs. Beasley was born March 23, 1935 in Knott County, KY. She was employed with Cowdens Manufacturing in Stanford, KY, and retired after 26 years service. She married Mr. Earl Beasley on 
November 25, 1990 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1998. Her son, Malcom Jacobs also preceded her on December 11, 2007 as well as two sisters and seven brothers. She attended 
Piney Grove Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Jean (Kenny) Smiley, Cereulean, KY, Juanita Ann (Carl) Cornett, Lima, OH, Marlene Selle, Maricopa, AZ, Wanda Louise (David) McGhee, Cadiz, KY, 
Martha Ann (Paul) Estes, Waynesburg, KY; three sons, Phillip (Fonda) Jacobs, Jack (Sara) Jacobs and Jesse Samuel Jacobs, all of Waynesburg, KY; one sister, Elizabeth (Joe) DeCarlo, Madison, IN; 
twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Alice Juanita Bennett, 81, of Cleves, OH, died September 29, 2010 at Liberty Three Rivers, Miami Heights. Born November 5, 1928 in Lincoln Co. KY, to William Estel & Eva M. James French.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Cleves Church of Christ. She was the wife of the late Joseph H. Bennett, the devoted mother of four sons, Barry Joseph, Kenneth Dale, Richard Allen & Kevin 
Wayne Bennett, the dear sister of Donald, Gerald, Gail, James Thomas French; Janice Walker, Carole DiSanto and the late Audrey Bernice Good. Loving grandmother of 8 and 5 great grandchildren. 
Also survived by a loving aunt, Violet James of Stanford, KY and many cousins.

Interment: Saturday, October 02  at Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves, Ohio. Dennis George Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Marie Kielbasa Bratcher, 85, of Crab Orchard, died Sunday, Aug. 29.

Born Feb. 6, 1925, in the Broughtontown Community of Lincoln County, Barbara was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ida Enshaw Kielbasa. She was a devoted member of St. Sylvester 
Catholic Church and the widow of Freddie W. Bratcher.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ollie and Adolph Kielbasa; and a sister, Louise Schuler.

Survivors include five children, John (Patricia) Bratcher of Lexington, Jeannie Fitzpatrick of Stanford, Helen (Raymond) Schuler of Waynesburg and Mary Ann (Roger) Adams and David (Sonja) Bratcher 
both of Crab Orchard; 15 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sept. 1 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with Father Peter Joseph officiating. Burial was in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Michael, Christopher, William, Joe and Andy Bratcher and Stephen Schuler.

McKnight Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

MORELAND — Clarence Austin Brown Jr., 58, of Casey County died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. Born Jan. 11, 1952, he was the son of the late Clara and Clarence Brown Sr.

He served 16 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He was a retired police officer with 31 years of dedicated service to law enforcement. He has served in the Liberty and Hustonville Police 
Departments, as Crab Orchard Police Chief, Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff, in the Harrodsburg Police Department and as a Harrodsburg detective. He has also been a Crab Orchard volunteer firefighter, 
an EMT for East End Ambulance Service and a Lincoln County Deputy Coroner.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Millie Brown; three sons, Keith (Jenifer) Brown of Stanford, David (Paula) Brown of Stanford and Travis Brown of Casey County; three brothers, James Lynn and Joe 
and Dale Brown; four sisters, Boonie Jaderich, Rose Dees, Dorothy Carman and Sherry Applegate; and six grandchildren, Zach, Cailen, Kenzie, Noah, Cooper and Jordan.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Dan Gutenson, with burial at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ernie Keltey, Garry Bradshaw, Jessie Arnold, Jay

Junior Bryant, 63, of Orange, Texas, formerly of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Renaissance Hospital in Groves, Texas.

He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on September 27, 1946, son of the late Homer Mitchell and Anna Mae Whitaker Bryant Sr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, was a pipe fitter and welder in 
ship yards. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Deweyville in Deweyville, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Abby Gale Gill Bryant, three daughters, Anna Bryant LeBlanc, Scooter Laird and Misty Barefield all of Orange Texas, one brother, Gene & (Betty) Bryant of Somerset, 
four sisters, Judy & (Ken) Nothstien of Eubank, Binky & (Jack) Jacobs of Waynesburg, Donna Yocum of Kings Mountain and Jennifer Bryant of Eubank, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 
several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Family Worship Center in Waynesburg with Bro. David Harris officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery (Friendship Church Rd.) with military honors by American Legion Post #18.

Jack D Canada, 93 of Hustonville died Sunday, August 22, 2010. Born August 15, 1917 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Dan and Dolly Brown Canada.
He was a farmer and a US Air Force WWII veteran. He was a l longtime member of McKinney Christian Church where he was a Board Member, a Sunday School teacher
and served as an elder for over 50 years.   He was active in many civic and community organizations, especially related to agriculture. He was a charter member of
the McKinney Ruritan, a director of Farmer’s Home Administration and a Lincoln County Fair Board Director.  

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alma Whitis Canada; 1 son, Bob (Jan) Canada of Maysville; 1 daughter, Betty Ellis of Danville; 4 grandchildren: Michele (Johnny) Lakes, Laura Canada and Jennifer 
Canada and Matthew Ellis; 3 great grandchildren: Chase Marshall, Jackson Lakes and Mia Grace Ellis; 1 step-grandchild, Jenna (Eric) Coyle and 1 step-great grandchild, Braxton Coyle. He was preceded in 
death by 4 sisters: Helen Curry, Grace Wallace, Dorothy Downard and Alyene Foote.

Services will be at 2 PM, Thursday at McKinney Christian Church by Bro. Aaron Snelling and Bro. Darrell Estes with burial in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Matthew Ellis, Chase Marshall, Scott

Richard J. Carmack, 43, of Eubank, died Saturday, Aug. 21 at his home.

Born April 16, 1967, in Pulaski County, he was a son of Alice Carmack of Lincoln County and Carl Staton of Casey County. Richard was an employee of Eagle Hardwood in Somerset and a 
member of Masonic Lodge #60 in Stanford.

Other survivors include a daughter, Danielle Carmack.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. David Gambrel officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with a 
Masonic service at the cemetery.

Ruby Cason, 79, of Stanford died Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born April 6, 1931 in Kings Mountain, KY to the late 
Eli Dewey and Anna Laura Dishon Houp. She was the widow of James Franklin "Jimmy" Cason, Jr. She was a homemaker, a member of Redemption Road Church, a volunteer of the Pink Ladies 
Auxiliary, Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, KY and a member of the Southern Railway Ladies Club in Lexington.

Survivors include two sons- James "Sonny" Cason (Sheila) of Stanford and Franklin L. Cason of Lexington; 2 brothers-Wesley and Vernon Houp and a sister Corine Wood all of Lexington; 
7 grandchildren, 1 step grandson; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren; she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Ashley Cason.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 5-9, Funeral Service will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Spurlin Funeral Home. Reverend Gary Yocom will be officiating.

He is survived by two sons, John Randy Chappell and Willie Allen Chappell, one daughter, Tina Faye Gaskins, all of Cincinnati, OH, three brothers, Bobbie Chappell of Lexington, KY, Johnny 
Chappell of Stanford, KY and Buddy Chappell of Barboursville, KY, three sisters, Mary Lou Sowders and Katherine Dishan, both of Stanford and Fern Godbey of Burnside and one grandchild, 
Bobbie Ellen Gaskins of Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Pruitt.

CHICAGO — Chrystal J. Petrey Dawson, 76, of Matteson, Ill., died Sunday at the University of Illinois Medical Center.

Born Jan. 22, 1934, in Chicago, she was a daughter of John and Nora Howe Ferguson. She was a retired clerical worker. She had lived in Lincoln County for about 10 years before recently returning to Illinois.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jess Petrey.

Survivors include her husband, J.B. Dawson; a son, Curtis (Kathy) Petrey; a stepson, John Dawson; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD — Elizabeth Pauline Denney, 70, of Lancaster, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at her home.

Born in March 18, 1940, in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Zola Marie Todd Denney. She was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church. She was a retired 
registered nurse for Stanford House Nursing Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Ann (Jim) Harrison of Crab Orchard, Barbara (Larry) Allen of Stanford, Darlene Lamb of Lancaster and Tina (Jeremy) Bowen of Lancaster; three sisters, 
Loretta Gilliam, Frances Napier and Juanita Harrison; three brothers, Bobby Denney, Danny Denney and Ray Wren; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by a daughter, Dessie Marie Barnett; a son, Jimmy Napolean Barnett; and two grandsons, Tony Harrison and Joey Brummett.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Harold Harness. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

STANFORD — Charlie R. Denson, 93, of Stanford died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

Born Feb. 20, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ivon and Oma Griffin Denson. He was the widower of Lucy Dowell Denson. He had been a CCC firefighter in Montana, had 
worked at Hobart Steel factory, helped build the glass factory in Danville, and was a member, deacon and bus driver for several years at Ephesus Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Joe Denson Jr., Harold Denson, Eugene Denson (Patricia) and Ricky Denson (Glorita), all of Stanford; four daughters, Loretta Edwards (Buford, Janie Taylor 
(Jimmy and Annie Hines (Gene), all of Stanford, and Gladys Smith (Denver) of Waynesburg; two brothers, Frances Denson (Linda) of Stanford and Jim Denson of Troy, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Brock 
(Stanley) of Crab Orchard; 39 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sons, Jimmy, Freddie “Poncho” 
and Mark Denson; and a grandson, Mark Allen Greene.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home. The Revs. Terry Holt and Vola Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Ivon Denson, Stephen Denson, Wayne Denson, Junior Hines, Scott Denson, Jim Bob Taylor, Josh Denson and Brandon Denson. Honorary bearers will be granddaughters.

Cora Mae Eldridge, 67, formerly of Frankfort, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at Porterfield Health & Rehab in Macon, GA. She was born Thursday, December 17, 1942 in Pulaski 
County to the late Rowen Wesley & Ula Vivian Moore Ramsey. She was a retired cook with Western Hills High School and a member of Farmdale Baptist Church. Cora loved watching 
animals on television, and listening to gospel music.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Eldridge, whom she was married to 39 years; and a son, Kris Eldridge.

She is survived by her daughters, Corina (Billy) Curtis of Frankfort and Lisa (Doug) Petto of Warner Robins, GA; her son, Arthur Eldridge, Jr. of Frankfort; brothers, David (Peggy) Ramsey of 
Science Hill, Edward (Eldine) and James (Jackie) Ramsey, both of Indiana; her sisters, Margaret Padgett of Norwood, OH, Katherine Asbury of Lancaster, Irene (Ray) Duncan of Versailles, 
Betty Ramsey of Science Hill, Wanda (Mike) Cummins of Frankfort, Brenda Luttrell of Stanford and Linda (David) Gregory of Science Hill; five grandchildren, Allison Eldridge, Kristy Reece,

Mr. Robert L. Faulkner 84, of Starke died Sunday morning in the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Crab Orchard, Ky. moving to Florida in 
1925, moved to 
Raiford from Jacksonville after his retirement from the Jacksonville Fire Department after 32 years of service. He was captain when he retired. He was a Army WWII Veteran and was Prisoner of War 
during services. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raiford, and a member of the Jacksonville Retired Fireman's Assoc.

Nola Kidd Flynn passed away on Sept. 9, 2010.

Born Sept. 20, 1919, in McCreary County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Ollie Blevins Kidd. She was married to Luther Jay Flynn. They made their home in Junction City, Ky.

Nola was a member of Junction City First Baptist Church. She spent her last years in the care of Charleston Health Care Center in Danville, Ky. Nola retired from Kentucky School of the Deaf at the age of 70. 
Nola was mother to 10 children, 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Carrol (Beth) Flynn of Luling, Texas, Billy (Rose) Flynn of Goshen, Ohio, David (Gail) Flynn of Sumpter, S.C., and Jimmy Flynn of Junction City, Ky.; and a daughter, Betty (Bob) 
White of Lindsay, Okla. She is also survived by a sister, Lennie Short of Junction City, Ky.; and a brother, Billy (Phyllis) Kidd of Bardstown, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five children, Nancy Ritter, Charley Flynn, Ruth Ann Gilliam, and Bobby and Stephen Flynn; a granddaughter, Kathy Williams; two sisters, Cleora Westerfield 
and Letha Kidd; and five brothers, Robert, Everett, Jessie, Alfred and Chester Kidd.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. The Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford, Ky.

George Francis Gilpin, 52, of Lebanon, Ind., died Saturday, Aug. 28, at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

Born July 18, 1958, in Brodhead, George was a son of the late George Z. Gilpin and Betty Janie (Foley) Gilpin Griffith. He was reared and educated in Stanford where he graduated from high school
served in the Marine Corps 1978-1982 and the Indiana National Guard in the early 1980ís and was an employee of Shumate Business Forms and the Lebanon Industrial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Trisha Lynn Norton Gilpin of Lebanon, Ind.; three children, Patricia L. "Patty" Gilpin, George Alexander "Alex" Gilpin and Ian A. E. Gilpin all of Lebanon, Ind.; and a brother, 
Paul William (Barbara) Gilpin of Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services with military rites will be held at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Ind., today (Sept. 2) at 6 p.m. with Rev. Matt Skiles officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.

Johnny Griffin, 61, of Stanford, died Tuesday, July 27 in Danville.

Born Saturday, Dec. 18, 1948, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Reba Griffin. Johnny was a Kentucky Colonel, worked at Owen's Chevrolet and then ran 
Johnny Griffin Auto Sales.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Bullock Griffin of Stanford; a daughter, Melissa (David) Cress of Stanford; brothers, Randy (Darlene), Cecil (Sue), Rocky (Cindy), Ricky (Faye), Joe 
(Edna) and Jimmy Griffin; a sister, Mary (Steve) Smith; and two grandchildren.

MORELAND — Linda Diane Lewis Griffin, 63, of Nicholasville, formerly of London, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.

Born May 29, 1947, she was the daughter of Sudie L. Lewis of London and the late Eliga Lee Lewis. She worked several years as a legal secretary in Corbin for the former law offices of Trimble 
and Mann. She will be missed by family and friends for her wit and approach to life.

She also is survived by her husband, Cecil Griffin; two sons, Darrell (Marisa) Greer and Eric L. (Kay) Greer, both of Corbin; a daughter, Rebecca Karen (Chris) Taylor of Washington, D.C.; two 
stepsons, Timmy and Terry Griffin, both of Harrodsburg; a stepdaughter, Crystal (Robert) Gadberry of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren, Amanda Diane Henninger, Emily and Elizabeth Greer, 
Ayden Shepard, Camille and Ian Elijah Greer, Victoria and Tristan Gadberry and Amber Griffin; and a brother, Alan Lewis, and two sisters, Tammy Chandler and Elaine Vaughn, all of London.

CRAB ORCHARD — Edwin Gutenson Jr., 78, of Stanford passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the Rockcastle Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Louise Miracle Gutenson, who 
preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2010.

Born Jan. 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Edwin Gutenson Sr. and Eva Jane Douglas Gutenson. Edwin was a former employee of Kraft Foods in Stanford and UPS in Danville. He was a member of 
Mount Hebron Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.

Survivors Include his children, Chuck (Bobbie) Gutenson of Maryland, Sandy (Jim) Davenport of Williamsburg and Dan (Sheila) Gutenson of Crab Orchard; and three grandchildren, Jake Gutenson, 
Sara Monroe and Hannah Gutenson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Chuck Gutenson and Bro. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with military

MORELAND — Henry William Hale Jr., 58, formerly of Moreland, died Friday.

Born Feb. 5, 1952, he was the son of Henry William Hale of Danville and the late Ruth Overstreet Rumer. He was a millwright and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is also survived by a son, William Hale, and a daughter, Jennifer Hayes, both of Massachusetts; one brother, Gary Hale of Colorado, a sister, Rita Payne of Crab Orchard; and five grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held Monday at Moreland Cemetery by Rev. Harold Best, with military rites performed by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Post 18.

Doris J. Hamilton, 77, of Nancy, formerly of Waynesburg, died Friday, Sept. 24 at her residence.

Born April 21, 1933, in Franklin Co., Doris was a daughter of the late William V. and Carrie B. Smallwood Osborne. She was a homemaker, poet and songwriter and attended Somerset 
Community College and Eastern Kentucky University. Doris completed two recordings for King's Records and worked as a songwriter with Jack Rhodes Publishing both in Nashville, Tenn. 
She was a member of the Ancient Mystical Order of Rosecrutions, World of Poetry, Fraternal Order of Police, United Nations of USA, International Platform Association and Who's Who of 
International Poetry and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Hamilton; a daughter, Ginger Renaker of Nancy; two grandchildren, Brandy Lee (Tony) Perkins and Aaron Paul (Brittany) Renaker; and a great grandchild, 
Katherine Lee-Hope Perkins.

Lincoln County farmer, was an employee with Lincoln Federal Savings and 1st Southern National Bank for 30 years and a past employee of the Lincoln County A.S.C.S. office. She was a 
supporter of many different charities which include Feed the Children, American Lung Association and National Humane Society. She was a member of Turnersville Christian Church.

Born June 14, 1922, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John David and Mary Alice McCowan Westerfield. She was the widow of McClelland “Mack” Henson. She was a former 
employee of Genesco in Danville for 20 years and had been self-employed. She was a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ben Henson (Wanda) of Danville and John M. Henson (Wilma) of Stanford; a brother, J.D. Westerfield of Danville; two sisters, Katherine Banker and Mattie Hasty, 
both of Ohio; six grandchildren, Michael, James, Roger, Billy and Mark Henson, and Adreane Jones; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Henson Sr.; four brothers; and three sisters.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Casket bearers will be grandchildren.

preceded her in death in 1995.

Born April 26, 1945, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late William Gaines and Oneida Bruce Johnson Mimms. She was a retired custodian for the Stanford Post Office, a member and a 
former clerk for Stanford Church of God, and a former Sunday school teacher at Lancaster Church of God.

Survivors include four sisters, Lillie Richards, Willine Reynolds, Elizabeth Helton and Doris Jean (Earl) Fletcher, all of Crab Orchard; and several nieces of nephews.

Born May 17, 1932, in Stanford, he was a son of the late John Paul and Ida Mae Tillett Martin. He was a farmer, a Kentucky Colonel and a veteran of the United States Air Force, 
where he was a military policeman. He was a longtime and faithful member of McCormack Christian Church in Lincoln County, where he served as treasurer and deacon for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Martin; four children, Roy (Angie) Martin of Danville, Connie (Larry) Privett of Danville, Steve (Jennifer Brummett) Martin of Stanford, and Rita Martin 
(Tim Morris) of Danville; six grandchildren, Jacob Martin, Katie Martin, Leah Martin, Mary Jo Stanley, Beth Ann Martin and Beckett Paul Cash Martin; and five siblings, Sylvia Linville of 
Somerset, Louise (Wayne) Atwood of Moreland, Helen Parras of New York, Alice Young of Lexington and Ernest (Fern) Martin of Danville.

MORELAND — Robert Lee (Bob) Mattingly, 86, of St. Mary's, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Bob was born in Akron, Ohio, and spent his formative years on Frogtown Road in Marion County, Ky. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the U.S.S. William C. 
Miller in the South Pacific as a cook/welder first class. During his tour of duty, he fought in several battles including the Battle of Iwo Jima.

After he concluded his military service, he was the owner and operator of restaurants in Lebanon, Ky., Bob’s Coney Island Hot Dog Stand, The Bun Box, Bob’s Steak House and House of 
Blue Lights. He spent most of his working years as a welder for Union Local 798 of Tulsa, Okla., working on many projects all across the U.S., including the Atomic Power Plant in Portsmith, 
Ohio; the Saint Lawrence Seaway; and the Alaska Pipeline, where he spent several years on the project. He also owned and operated Sky Go Concrete Pumping Co. as well as Dr. Blacktop 
Sealcoating Co. In later years, he and his wife, Margie, were the owners and proprietors of the Silver Spur Night Club in St. Mary's, W.V.

Bob enjoyed visiting with military friends, especially attending annual Navy reunions and sharing stories from the service days. An excellent welder who “did the craft proud,” Bob constantly 
worked on welding projects and enjoyed other entrepreneurial business ventures. He also enjoyed boating with his family in various rivers and lakes in West Virginia, and deep sea fishing in the South.

Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Della Mattingly, and his brother, Beneford Mattingly. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margie; children, Peggy 
Ware and husband Steven of Mountain Lakes, N.J., Robert Leo Mattingly of Waverly, W.V., and Mary Lynn Carlton and husband Gary of Placerville, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeff Mattingly, Nina 
DeCoster and husband Will, Spencer Ware, and Ben Mattingly; step grandchildren, Matthew Carlton and wife Lisa, Dan Carlton, and Becca Carlton; great-granddaughter, Georgia DeCoster; 
step great-granddaughters, Jillian and Allison Carlton; a sister, Beatrice Lanham of Lexington, Ky.; niece, Donna Sue Peden; and nephew, Glenn Lanham.

Dick Dale Matzke, 75, of Stanford and Dunedin, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 16 in Stanford.

Born April 10, 1935, in Bolton, Mich., Dick was a son of the late Charles Carl Matzke and Edna May Hickey Matzke. He was a retired journeyman carpenter and a Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Matzke; sons, Kenneth, Dwayne and Forrest Matzke; a step son, Bob Powell; daughters, Trina Pylant and Charmin Henley; brother, Jay Matzke; sisters, Donna

CRAB ORCHARD — Johnny A. “Pap" Miracle, 81, of Rockledge, Fla., formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010.

Born Oct. 6, 1928, in Brodhead, Ky., he was a son of the late Elisha and Dolly Johnson Miracle. Johnny loved playing golf, tending to his yard, spending time with his family and most importantly, 
his wife and best friend of 59 years, Elizabeth.

Johnny was honorably discharged from active military service after a distinguished 20-year career. Having reached the rank of Sergeant E7, Johnny served in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth A. Miracle of Rockledge, Fla.; a son, Steven Miracle and his wife Kathleen of McCaysville, Ga.; a daughter, Deborah Conley and her husband Christopher of

Mr. Charles E. Mullins, 69, of Crab Orchard, KY passed away Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. Charlie was born in Middlesburg, KY on May 28, 1941, 
He was the son of the late Tilton Mullins and Emma (Little) Herring.

Charlie is survived by son, Timothy E. Mullins of Louisville, OH. Daughter, Ada Marie Mullins of Waynesburg, OH. Daughter, Marjorie Mullins, Son, Charles Daniel Mullins of Kingsley, MI. Charles is also 
survived by two brothers, Gary & Tilton Mullins. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Mark Mullins. 

Private Gravesite Services were held at the Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Louise Sheperson Murphy of Danville died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late Jesse C. and Prudy Porter Sheperson. She taught school all of her life. She taught at Cox and Douglas schools in Casey County, Boyle County Middle School and 
in several one-room school houses. She attended Campbellsville College, Morehead State, University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of the old 
Piedmont Church of Christ in Casey County.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Murphy; and by two brothers, Louis and Cecil Sheperson.

Survivors include two sisters, including her identical twin sister, Lucille Sternberg of Danville, and Hazel Overstreet of Forkland; two nephews, Jim (Janet) Overstreet of Forkland and 
Cecil Sheperson Jr. of Oklahoma; two nieces, Luanne Overstreet of Lexington and Linda (Bill) Singler of Danville; four great-nieces, Caitlyn (Brandon) Rogers, Delaney Overstreet, 
Laura (David) Adams and Christy Sheperson; six great-nephews, Sean, Brendan, Galen and Regan Overstreet, Scott Singler and Travis Hopkins; and a sister-in-law, Kaye Burris.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Ollie Mae Wicker, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Singler, Stanley Burris and Jim, Brendan, Regan, Galen and Sean Overstreet.

Alfred Harris Pence, Sr., 90, of Stanford died Thursday at Ft. Logan Hospital in Stanford. He was born June 20, 1920 in Stanford to the late Alfred L. and Nannie Woods Pence. 
He was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific. He graduated from the University of Louisville College of Pharmacy, 
currently the University of KY College of Pharmacy, in 1942 where he was a member and Chaplin of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He was the 1st Pharmacist at Ft. Logan Hospital
 from where he retired after 20 years, he was the Pharmacist and co-owner of Coleman Drugs in Stanford; He had served on the Stanford Chamber of Commerce, the Stanford City Council, 
was a member of the Lincoln County Historical Society, was a 50 year member of the KY Pharmaceutical Association, a 64 year member of Caswell Saufley Post #18 American 
Legion and was a mason with Lodge #60.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Bettie Marie Bryan Pence of Stanford; four children, Alfred Harris Pence, Jr. (Jackie) of Stanford, Ruth Anne Lowe of Lexington, William E. 
Pence (Carol) of Lexington and Bettie Sue Holthouser (James) of Memphis, TN; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dr. 
Charles Lowe and a sister, Anne Elizabeth Gaines.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 from 5-9 at Spurlin Funeral Home, Funeral Service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church. Reverend 
Jeremy James will be officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Caswell Saufley Post #18 American Legion.

Casket bearers will be Bryan Pence, Chris Lowe, Matthew Lowe, Adam Holthouser, Cole Pence and Casey Cushenberry; Honorary Bearers will be Robert Gaines, Ben Gaines,

Born Sept. 9, 1940, in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Roy M. and Edith Henry Robertson. He was owner of Middleburg Service Station.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Faye Taylor Robertson; four daughters, Leslie Lynn, Carmela Andrade, Julie Ritchie and Penny Roney; two stepsons, Jeffrey Robertson and

Born Jan. 13, 1928, he was the son of the late James and Blanche Steins Ross.

Survivors include his wife, Birdie Reed Ross; a son, Terry Ross; a daughter, Brenda Lane; two sisters, Jean Grigsby and Bonnie Chesser; four grandchildren, Jerry and Ricky Lane, 
Holly Darby and Tabitha Ross; two step grandsons, Shane and Kevin Griffin; and a great-grandchild, Lillian Darby.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home, with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG — Arlie Eldridge Shea, 84, of Stanford passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.

Born on Wednesday, March 24, 1926, in Roxanna, Letcher County, Ky., she was the daughter of Leander and Betty Day Eldridge. Arlie was a homemaker and member of 
Friendship Old Regular Fashion Baptist Church.

Arlie leaves behind her husband George Shea Jr.; stepson, Dennis Shea and his wife Sharon of Eubank; daughters, Gladys Allen and her husband Dave of Shepardsville, Ethel Hall and her 
husband Gershan of Crab Orchard, Helen Meece and her husband Dewey of Somerset, and Dorothy Butt and her husband Michael of Crab Orchard; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 
and two great-great-grandchildren.

Arlie was preceded in death by her first husband Delza Eldridge, and second husband Johnny Vanover; two daughters, Irene Eldridge and Alice Mae Vanover; brothers, Astor Eldridge, 
Lloyd Eldridge, Henry Eldridge, Willie Eldridge and Howard Eldridge; and sisters Alma Caudill, Ethel Dixon and Eva Back.

Services for Arlie will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at Friendship Old Regular Baptist Church with Squire Watts, Emery Caudill and Roger Gibson officiating. 
Burial will be in Olive Cemetery.

Dwight Allen, Michael Paul Hall, Arlus Burdine, Nicholas Wayne Butt, George D. Shea and Jeremy McFarland will serve as pallbearers.

Born April 26, 1963, in Stanford, he was the son of Gene and Frances Simpson Snyder. He was the quality control manager at Sigma Plastics in Shelbyville.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Cheatham Snyder; a daughter, Whitney Nicole Snyder of Lawrenceburg; a son, Charlie Andrew Snyder of Stanford; and two brothers, David (Nona) 
Snyder and Paul (Pam) Snyder, both of Waynesburg.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home and Family Center in Junction City. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Waynesburg with

January 17, 1916 in Breathitt County, KY to the late Robert & Martha McIntosh Turner. She was a homemaker and loved to read and work in her gardens. She will be remembered most for her 
dancing, singing and being around her family. Ida attended Central Heights Church of God in Columbus.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Spurlock; her children, Kenneth & Paul Spurlock and Rita Brandon; her siblings, Clayton, Eugene, Tommy, Walter and Callie.

She is survived by her loving children, Geneva (Steve) Agoston, Surprise, AZ; Loretta Krout, Waynesburg; Harvey (Carolyn) Spurlock of Cincinnati, OH; Mary (Jim) Cater of Martinez, CA; 
Jim (Sandra) Spurlock of Missouri City, TX; Paula (Ben Johnson) Spurlock of Oakland, CA; Ethel Lynne (Milton) Denney of Columbus, IN; Leonard Spurlock of Charleston, SC; and 
Betty (Bill) Stephens of Versailles, KY; a brother, Ernest Turner of Waukegan, IL; two sister, Sue Jackson of White Marsh, VA and Mary Alice Howard of Morristown, TN; 
30 grandchildren and several great & great-great grandchildren.

Elizabeth (Betty Ruth) Fields Tobinski, 87, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died Monday, Sept. 6 at her home.

Born April 15, 1923, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Luana Whitehead Fields. Betty was a graduate of Stanford High School and Bowling Green 
Business School. She worked in Stanford and Washington D.C. and later at the University of Utah and was the widow of John F. Tobinski.

She was also preceded in death by John W. and Albert Fields.

Survivors include four children, John R., Susan, Mary and John Tobinski; two siblings, Charles M. Fields of Morehead and LoAnn Blakenship of Lexington; 
four grandchildren; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

pharmacy clerk and of the Baptist faith.

widower of Helen Griffin Watts.
