IN MEMORIAM.
A loving wife and a good mother gone home. Died near Crab Orchard on July 27,
1902, Rebecca J. Anderson, wife of John L. Anderson, aged 49 years.
Mrs. Anderson made
a profession of the Christian religion about nine years ago and was baptized by
Elder K. D. Noakes, after which she united with the Christian church and lived
the life of a Christian until the
Lord called her home. She was a constant sufferer for many months, but was
always ready to bear her sufferings with patience and when death came she calmly
remarked, "I am going home."
She has left
behind a kind and affectionate husband and loving, faithful daughters and one
dear little boy to mourn a mother's loss, but their loss is her gain in the
sweet bye and bye. Her body was laid to rest
July 28, 1902, at Ephesus church after funeral discourse by Elder K. D. Noakes
and John Elder to a very large congregation, who was present to extend their
sympathy to the one they always loved. May
God bless the sorrowing and heart-broken ones and may His grace sustain them in
this sad hour of sorrow and bereavement is the prayer of the writer.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to all the neighbors and friends that
were so kind and good to us, both day and night all through our distress.

BANKS, Jacqueline J. age 78 of Millville, Ohio passed away June 10, 2012 at The Drake Center in Cincinnati. She was born on September 14, 1933 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky the daughter of Gerald and Faye (Bentley) Holmes.
On October 22, 1954 she married William "Bill" Banks at the Ninth Street Baptist Church in Cincinnati. Jackie was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Ross.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Banks of Millville; five grandchildren; Angela, Timothy, Nina, Nicholas, Jackie; two great grandchildren, Connor and Edith; and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded
in death by her husband Bill Banks and one son, William Banks. There will be a
visitation at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, OH
on Saturday, June 16 from 10-11am until the time of service at 11am. Burial will
follow in Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mt. Healthy.

Hughie Boggs, 50, of Waynesburg, died Thursday, Jan. 31 at his residence.
A native of Grayson, he was born Jan. 2, 1958 to the late Aaron and Rose Burton Boggs. He was a mill worker for Ruckels Farm Supply and of the Baptist faith.
He was also preceded in death by his adoptive father, Walter Harrison; and two brothers who died in infancy, Wiley and Charles Elwood Boggs.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Coleman Boggs of Waynesburg; adoptive mother, Ruby Harrison of Waynesburg; one son, Hughie Boggs, Jr. of Grayson; one daughter, Lisa Boggs of Grayson; two step sons, David (Gina) Sheene of Waynesburg and Scott (Sarah) Sheene of Stanford; one step daughter, Kimmi Jo Hamm of Grayson; two brothers, James (Angie) Harrison of Somerset and David Boggs of Ohio; two sisters, Sue (Wayne) Kates of Eubank and Brenda Boggs of Ohio; one step sister, Loma (J.C.) Griffith of Elliott County; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Feb. 2 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill with Bro. Cecil Roundtree officiating. Burial was in Kates Cemetery.

for a brief time at Mercy West Park Senior Living in Cincinnati, OH.
Beloved husband
for 64 years of the late Ruth J. Bolton, devoted father of Karen Regina of
Cincinnati and Cynthia Sefton of Danbury, CT. Survived also by sister-in-law
Martha Jollie of Cincinnati, brother-in-law John Goodwin, Sr., of Cape Coral,
FL, and several nephews and nieces, including Thomas Niederhelman of Dublin, OH,
Harold Hoffman of Covington, GA, John Goodwin, Jr., of Ft. Myers, FL, and Sandy
Mason of Hyde Park, MA
Born November 2,
1924, in Stanford, KY, the sixth and last child of James and Clara (Ross)
Bolton, who preceded him in death, as did three sisters (Faye Purkiser, Edna
Hoffman, and Virginia Goodwin) and two brothers (James M. Bolton and Oelles
Bolton). A World War II
veteran and lifelong resident of Cincinnati. Skilled tool-and-die maker by
vocation, sports enthusiast and avid poker player by avocation, exemplary
husband and father by nature. Member of "the greatest generation."
Private services at the convenience of the family, followed by inurnment at
Spring Grove Cemetery.

Earl Brown, age
83, died on Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Kalamazoo, MI with his family at his
side. He was born on April 24, 1929 in Kings Mountain, KY to Amos and Dora
(Floyd) Brown as one of seven children and raised in Bluefield, WV until the age
of 14, when his family moved to Kalamazoo, MI. Upon completion of his schooling
in the Kalamazoo Public Schools, Earl served in the U.S. Army from 1946 through
1949 as a photographer at the Japanese War Crime Trials in Tokyo, Japan.
After his
honorable discharge from the Army, Earl returned to Kalamazoo, MI and began a
career with The Upjohn Company which lasted for 40 years until his retirement in
1989. While working at The Upjohn Company, Earl met and married Mary Ann (Vargo)
Brown and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on July 26,
2012.
Earl
and Mary Ann had five children. Earl was a devoted father and grandfather, and
enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's events, the outdoors,
visiting northern Michigan, hunting, fishing and traveling winding back roads
throughout the state. For over 30 years, Earl served as a volunteer police
officer with the Portage Police Department Reserve Unit. Surviving Earl are his
wife, Mary Ann; sons, Jay (Gay Lou) Brown of Vicksburg, Patrick (Nancy) Brown of
Marcellus, Paul Brown of Schoolcraft, and daughter Madalyn (Al) Colvin of
Portage. Earl is also survived by grandchildren Ryan (Lisa), Randy, Hunter,
Maxine, Alexis, Rachel and Jacob Brown, Beth Colvin; great-granddaughters, Ava
and Macey Brown; daughter-in-law, Kathy Descheneau; brother, Eric Brown; and
many nieces and nephews. Earl was proceeded in death by his parents, his
parents-in-law (Michael and Helen Vargo), his siblings (Gladys Reiter, Edyth
Parker, Geneva VanderWeele, Judy Brown, Glen Brown, Frank (Ted) Brown), son,
Matthew Brown, and great-granddaughter, Hailey Brown.
Burial will be at
Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
The family invites anyone who wishes to attend to gather at Ft. Custer for the
service which will begin at 1 PM. Arrangements are being handled by Avink
Cremation Society.

Fayrene Denney Bullock, 70, of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, at
the University of Kentucky Hospital in
Lexington. Ina was born in Lincoln County, Ky. on July 3, 1942, and was the
daughter of the late Homer and Mattie Elizabeth (Benge) Denney. Ina was a member
of the New Hope First Church of God.
Survivors
include sons, Roger Dale Bullock of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and Kevin Ray Bullock of
Richmond; a daughter, Shelley Rene and her husband Lester Hopkins of Crab
Orchard; a brother, Ray Denney and his wife Phyllis, of Crab Orchard;
brother-in-law, Ronnie Duvall of Crab Orchard; four grandchildren, Zachary and
Alexandria Bullock, Rachel Hopkins Speer and Lucas Hopkins; four nephews, Randy,

Funeral
services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Donald
Lear officiating.

will be in Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin

Gilreath Burnett, Age 83, of Centerville, OH passed away January 6, 2011 at
Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 15, 1927 in Waynesburg, KY to Juey
(Singleton) and O'Bannon Routin.
Clora formerly worked at Sugarcreek Schools where she was a school bus driver. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Roscoe Gilreath in 1972 & daughter Sharon Cayce Syrell in 2008.
Clora is survived
by her daughter Patricia McFann and her husband Richard of NC, 2 sons Harold
Roger Gilreath and his wife Donna of MO and Paul Gilreath of Centerville, OH.
Grandchildren Robert Brian Cayce, Richard "Rick" McFann, Michael Todd

M. Butt, 88 of Crab Orchard passed away on Monday, March 16 th at the Oakwood
Heritage Hospital in Taylor, Michigan. A native of Crab Orchard, Tom was born on
August 9, 1920 to the late Lloyd and Lucy (LeFevers) Butt. He was the husband of
the late Anna Lee (Singleton) Butt who preceded him in death on October 17,
1993. Tom served in the U.S. Marines as a corporal during World War II and was a
truck driver, having retired after 35 years.
In addition to his parents and his Wife, Anna Lee, Tom was preceded in death by
his two brothers Albert Lee Butt and William O. Butt and a half sister Florence
Edwards.
Survivors
Include one daughter, Janice Carol Millikan and Husband Gary of Belleville,
Michigan;

Clyde Coleman, 68, of Hustonville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Lexington.
Born Oct. 16, 1944, in Liberty, he was a son of the late Sam and Ethel Conatser Coleman. He was a construction worker and of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vedenia Walls Coleman.

Day Sr., 87, of Stanford, passed away Fri., Nov. 2, 2012 at his home. He was the
widower of Margaret Dean Lewis Day, who preceded him in death in 1991.
Born
on Feb. 5, 1925, in Leslie County, he was a son of the late Floyd and Martha
Sizemore Day. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of
Crossroads Assembly of God. Homer was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the
Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 60 of Stanford and also an Eastern Star member.
Survivors
include four daughters, Brenda Callahan (Danny), Anna Day of Tallapoosa, Ga.,
Shirley Masters of East Bernstadt and Juanita Rowe (Floyd) of Waynesburg; a
stepdaughter, Retha Herron; two sons, Jerry Day (Audrey) of East Bernstadt and
Homer Day Jr. (Verna) of Stanford; two brothers, Billy Ray Day (Peggy) of Smilax
and Donnell Day (Sarah) of Corbin; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and
three great-great grandchildren.
Two
sons, Glenn and Ernest Edmond Day, three sisters, Judy Lewis, Leona Eaton and
Laura Hogg, and three brothers, Thomas, Jimmy and Jerry Day, preceded Homer in
death.

service is 11 a.m. today at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 837 S. Main St.,
Brodhead. Bros. Steven Vanhook and Dale Wyatt will officiate. Burial will follow
in Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery.

Elmer H. Denney, 83, of Timbercrest Drive, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility surrounded by his family.
He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky, September 27, 1928, the son of the late Killas and Margaret Neal Denney. He married Edith Laverne Brown on April 16, 1949, and she survives.
Elmer was a devoted Christian. He was a founding member and currently attended Central Heights Church of God, where he taught Sunday school for over 35 years. Elmer was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed at Golden Casting for 41 and a half years, serving the last 35 as a Machine Operator. He loved to garden and fish.
He is survived by brothers, James (Clara) Denney of Alert, and David (Lana) Denney of Crab Orchard, Ky.; sisters, Dorothy (Manford) Todd of Columbus and Lydia (John) Siler of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil Denney, Emmit Denney and Paul Denney; and sisters, Geneva Oliver and Gladys Denney.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Greene officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with a military graveside service to be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veteran's Color Guard.

other than her mother are two sons, James M. Dunaway Jr. and Henry C. Dunaway,
both of Lexington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters,
Mary King and Loraine Logue, both of Lexington.
She was preceded
in death by a daughter, Nancy Workman, and two brothers, Hubert and William

County after sustaining injuries in an automobile
accident. She was the wife of Ronnie Duvall,
whom she married Sept. 3, 1960, in Stanford.
Born April 18, 1945, in Lincoln County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Homer and Mattie Elizabeth Benge Denney. She was a member of New Hope First Church of God.

Patterson Brown “Pat” Griffin, 87, Mooresville, died August 6, 2012, in St.
Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. Mrs. Griffin was born in Stanford, Kentucky, on
November 28, 1924,
to the late James H. and Myrtie Mays (Palmer) Brown.
She graduated from
high school in Kentucky and was awarded a college scholarship for Latin, but was
not able to take advantage of it. She then moved to Indiana at the age of 18
where she met her future husband and later began her family. Mrs. Griffin worked
for a period of time for the Indiana State Board of Health and L.S. Ayres.
Primarily, she was a devoted wife, mother, and a proud homemaker. She enjoyed
volunteering with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and at the local blood drives.
She was the recipient of the Lifetime Membership Recognition Award from Weight
Watchers and also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church,
Mooresville.
She was preceded in
death by her siblings, James Brown and Martha Lockhart.
Survivors include
her husband of 63 years, Charles Donald Griffin; children, Gail Richards (Bob)
of Indianapolis, James D. Griffin (Anna) of Avon, Bob Griffin (Nora) of
Martinsville, and Janet Buckley (Bill) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Daniel
Buckley (Kathy) , Samantha Buckley; step grandchildren, Michelle Eagan (Kevin)
and Iman Arafa; step great grandchild, Jessie Eagan.

Orchard, Kentucky, Step sons; Eddie Hawley of Crab Orchard, Kentucky, Danny

Hubert Hendrickson, 59 of Lancaster, formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away on
Thursday, April 24th at his home. He was the husband of Karen Crystal Wallace
Hendrickson
whom he married on October 16, 1985.
Hubert
was born in Crab Orchard on February 27, 1949 to the late Charles and Lucy
Merida Hendrickson.
Survivors include; wife, Karen Hendrickson of Lancaster, Ky., daughter, Lisa Geraldine Simpson of Crab Orchard, 2 step daughters; Crystal Ann Getter of Crab Orchard, Amy Lynn Blanton of Lancaster, KY, two step sons; Daniel Andrew Hendrickson of Lancaster, KY., Timothy Scott Hendrickson of Sycamore, IL. 5 brothers; Glenn Edward Hendrickson of Orgeon, IL, Nevil Garret Hendrickson of Crab Orchard, KY, Lonnie Ray Hendrickson of Lancaster, KY. Bobby Odell Hendrickson, of Maryville, TN. and Larry Wayne Hendrickson of Scottsburg, IN., and a sister, Rhoda Mae Salyers of Greencastle, IN., 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

HOLMES, Herschel K. age 78 of Huber Heights, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on December 26, 1933 the son of James & Cora (Johnson) Holmes.
He
was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of the Faith Presbyterian
Church in Huber Heights. He was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #491 of Huber
Heights from 1975-2000 and was known by his family as a "Mr. Fix it"
for all kinds of jobs around the house.
He is survived by his wife 37 years Sandra (Esken) Holmes, 6 children Brian & Paula Holmes of Beavercreek, Tom & Lynn Hebb of Huber Heights, Holly & Kevin Thompson of New Jersey, Richie & Melody Hebb of Middleton, Kelly & Jim Wilmoth of Charlotte, NC, and Robin Bryan of Vandalia, 9 grandchildren Anthony Santos, Chelsea & Brett Smith, Aaron Holmes, Tyler Hebb, Sara Hebb, Whitney Holmes, Abbey Corn, Lindsey Corn and Jacob Wilmoth, a brother Anthony "Bud" Homes, brother-in-law and his best friend Gary Esken, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and sisters Dallas, Charles,
Earl "Red", Pauline, Sheila and Clyde. A gathering of family and
friends will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the BLESSING

Dr. Robert Bruce Matheny, Sr., 78, of Middlesboro, died Monday, Oct. 22.
Born Jan. 29, 1934, near Stanford, Dr. Matheny was the second
son of the late Adam Pence Matheny, Sr. and Dorotha Steele Matheny. He served in
the Army Reserves
and the US. Navy during the Korean War and in the US Air Force during the Viet
Nam War. He was a graduate of Tulane Medical School and practiced medicine in
Sebree, Ky., and Half Moon Bay, Calif., before moving to Middlesboro in 1970.
Dr. Matheny served Middlesboro as a family physician until his retirement in
1998.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Graham Matheny.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann Dudley Brown
Matheny; three children, Robert Bruce (Rema) Matheny Jr., of Lexington,
Katherine Shawn Matheny (Bill)
Dresser of Indianapolis, Ind., and David Pence (Barbara) Matheny of Stanford;

Bertram C. “Bert” McGohon, 74, of Stanford, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Fort Logan Hospital. He was the widower of Freda M. Brock McGohon, who preceded him in death on July 21, 2009.
Born Aug. 14, 1938, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Grant McGohon and Jamie Baker Newland. Bert was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church. He had worked as a brick mason and was a farmer.

Dallas “Goose” McWhorter, 86, of Danville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.
Born Sept. 30, 1926, in New Salem, he was a son of the late Floyd and Daisy Lyon McWhorter. He was a loyal University of Kentucky and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was an avid bowler and was the Senior Citizen League champion.
During his life, he had many jobs and even helped make the mold for the first Bass Master Boat. Most people will remember “Goose” from the many years he and his wife Margaret owned and operated several local restaurants that included The Redwood as well as Hustonville Restaurant. Most recently, he owned and operated The Card Shop in Danville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jettie; a sister, Dillie Parkerson; and his grandson, Wesley Ray.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret Carter McWhorter; a son, Terry McWhorter of Lancaster; two daughters, Vicki Lay of Moreland and Paulette McWhorter of Danville; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great- granddaughter; and his Jack Russell, Gizmo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Chaplain Gary Story. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Nicholas, passed away Nov. 17, 2012, in Ohio at the age of 70.

He was the husband of Jimmie Lou Manning Simon Rice whom he married in April of 1990. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie Luevadia Bishop Rice.

a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired employee of the

having worked for 30 years. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God.

He was born July 24, 1962 in Lexington, KY to Ruth Edwards Richie and the late Russell Richie, Jr. As a freshman in High School David attended Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, he was a 1980 graduate of Lincoln County High School and had attended Eastern KY University.
He was a color Technician on D Crew, at RR Donnelly in Danville where he had worked for over 18 years, he also was owner/operator of DL Richie Trucking. David was a veteran of the Air National Guard. David enjoyed his time spent trucking and watching the wildlife around his home.

Virginia Cummins Russell, 77, of Lexington, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.
Born Jan. 17, 1935, in Casey County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Faye Jeffries Cummins and the widow of Roy Russell Jr. She was retired from J.C. Penney Co. in Lexington after 30 years.
She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church in Lexington and a graduate of Hustonville High School.
Survivors
include her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Paul Kargel; two grandchildren,
Hunter and Rebecca Kargel; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Russell and Gerri
Dunn, all of Lexington.
Funeral
services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Eddie
Benton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
Pallbearers
will be Paul and Hunter Kargel, Scott Russell, Wayne Cummins, Jordan Dennis and
David Williams.
Visitation
will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Rosemont Baptist Church in Lexington,
and after 11 a.m. Thurs. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Moreland.

Nora Shearer Sheron, 83, of Stanford, KY died Wednesday,
November 7, 2012 at home. She was born July 8, 1929 in Boyle County, KY to the
late Welsey and Mary Case Shearer.
She was the widow of Reverend James Sheron, Sr. She had been the co-owner, with
her husband, of the Shopworth Food Center in Downtown Stanford; she also had
worked as a seamstress at
Palm Beach in Danville, KY. Nora was a member of the Somerset 1st Church of the
Nazarene.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy Sheron (Donna) of
Stanford, KY, Mike Sheron (Patricia) of Nancy, KY, Gail Barry (Dennis) of
Newport News, VA and Michelle Kirsch (Mark) of
Long Beach, MS; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; she was preceded in
death by a daughter, JoLene Edwards, 2 brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be Monday, November 12, 2012, from 5-9
at the Stanford Church of the Nazarene, the funeral service will be at 11 a.m.,
Tuesday, November 13 at the Stanford Church
of the Nazarene. Reverend Buford Edwards II will be officiating the service,
burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Wilbern T. Singleton, 81, of Parker Road in Eubank, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center in Somerset.
Born Tuesday, February 24, 1931 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Barrett & Ressie Johnson Singleton. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Claudine Faye Larkin and Laura Shea Singleton.
Wilbern was a US
Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of Cuba Church of
God, and loved to hunt and garden.
Wilbern leaves
behind three sons, Dewey Spears (Fiancé -Margaret Rutherford of Eubank, Danny
Spears (Janie) of Waynesburg, and Glenn Spears of Science Hill; one daughter,
Elaine Osmond (Bobby) of Science Hill; two step daughters, Matilda Barron
(Roger) and Patricia Heist (Mark) both of Eubank; two brothers, Earl Singleton
(Ethel) of
Eubank and Bobby Singleton (Martha) of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sisters, Pauline
Peace of Omaha, Nebraska, Kathryn Evans of Harrodsburg, Virginia Toepfert of
Cincinnati, Ohio,
Velma Kay Decker, Norma Shock, and Irene Kennedy all of Columbus, Ohio; special
grandchildren, Cordelia Keith (Chad) of Somerset, Joe Heist (Lou Ann), Cody
Spears, and
Mashonda Barron, all of Eubank and several other special grandchildren; several
step-great grandchildren, including Chad Nichols; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two sons, Delbert and
William Spears;
six brothers, Gordon, Manfred "Mont", Samuel, Curt, Tony, and Paul;
and two sisters, Joyce Ann Singleton and Maebelle McKinney.
Funeral Services
will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral
Home with Bro. Bobby Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in
Cress Cemetery with full military honors performed by Caswell-Saufley Post #
18.

Bettie B. "Betsy" Smith, 74, of Stanford, KY
died Sunday, November 11, 2012, at her home. She was born September 18, 1938 in
Stanford, KY to the late Welby E. and Lucille
Waters Burgin. She was the widow of E.J. Smith.
Betsy enjoyed serving our community in many ways, her
long list of volunteerism does not begin to tell the difference she has made in
Lincoln County and surrounding communities,
she dedicated much of her time to help citizens of our county to have a better
way of life. She was a Chaplain at Ft. Logan Hospital, F.E.M.A. board member, a
member of the Adult Education Advisory
Council, a member of Inter Agency, Council K.E.E.P., Served on the Bluegrass
Community Action Regional Board, served as bookkeeper/secretary for the
Mid-County Rescue Squad, she
also served as Captain, served on the Lincoln County Ambulance Board, was a
Charter member of the Lioness Club, was a past member of the Kentucky Welfare
Association, Education Association and National Education Association. Betsy
helped found Ft. Logan Cooperative Ministries, were she worked from 1989 to
2011, helping the needy of
Lincoln County, She was named the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of
the year in 2004. Lincoln County Judge Executive Jim Adams, on behalf of the
fiscal court, declared
March 27, 2011 "Betsy Smith Day" for her many years of loyal service
to the people of Lincoln County. She was an ordained minister and music director
at Hustonville Christian Church for 13 years.
Betsy was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church.
Survivors include her son, Jon Smith (Daveida) of Hustonville, KY and her daughter, Heather Riley (Jeff) of Princeton, KY; three grandchildren, Ty Jenkins, Kelsey Smith and Tanner Smith.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012, visitors
from 4-9, funeral service at 2 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2012 all at Spurlin
Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Don
Burton will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs
Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Roy Reichenbach, John Henson, Eddie May, Bill Burgin, Jim Leigh and Dale Doyle; honorary bearers will be the Deacons and Elders of Lancaster Christian Church.

Otto Terry, 86, died November 16, 2012 in Stanford, KY.
Born February 3, 1926 in Lincoln County to the late Elbert and May Terry, Mr.
Otto was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, a mechanic,
an auto body worker, and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. In his spare time
he loved wood working and watching Kentucky Basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; Elsie Terry of
Stanford, KY, one son; Johnny Terry (Barbara) of Stanford, KY, three daughters;
Nita Sellers (Billy) of Liberty, KY, Kay Lane
(Shelton) of Lancaster, KY, and Suzie Naylor (Tommy) of Danville, KY, six
grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by two
grandchildren, Stephanie Renee Popplewell and Allissa Joy Sellers.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 5-9pm
and funeral will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11am. Both services will be
held at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel (Stanford).
Casket bearers will be: Cody Terry, Andrew Terry, Dale Sellers, James Lane, Jeff
Hill, and Bobby Washington. Honorary bearers will be his great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Marcella Wall, 86, of Kings Mountain, widow of Ervin D. Wall, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Wednesday, Aug. 4,
1926, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Troy Frazier and
Bertha Lanas Thompson Dunaway. Marcella was a teacher for
many years at Kings Mountain and Waynesburg schools, and founded the mobile
learning school in Lincoln County. She was active in the 4-H program and served
on the Lincoln County
Fair Board, and was a vital part in the Lincoln County Democratic Party. She was a member of Kings
Mountain Christian Church.
Marcella leaves behind two
daughters, Bertha Whitaker (Bill) of Danville and Janet Perry (Marvin) of
Walltown; a grandson, Robert Lee Perry (Carla) of Salvisa; three
great-grandchildren, Jennifer Barber (Tim) of Kings Mountain, Rachael Emerson of
Louisville and Abigail Emerson of Walltown; and a great-great-grandson, John
Barber of Kings Mountain.
In
addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son. Ervin
“Kyle” Wall; three brothers, Robert, B.B. and Columbus Dunaway; four
sisters, Eunice Dunaway,
Isabel Denney, Eleanor Adams and Alvis Huenefeld; and one granddaughter, Tonya
Perry Emerson.
Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Fox Funeral Home,
Stanford, with Bro. Greg Powell and Bro. David Shoot officiating the service.
Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Blanche Hubble White, 91, of
Highlands Assisted Living Facility in Somerset, formerly of Waynesburg and
Louisville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Lake Cumberland Regional
Hospital in Somerset.
Born Friday, Aug. 5, 1921, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late
Caleb and Kabelle Falconberry Hubble. She was the loving wife of the late Edward
B. White.
Blanche was a graduate of
the University of Louisville and a retired teacher of 42 years for the
Louisville/Jefferson County Board of Education. She was a member of Double
Springs
Baptist Church, a member of the Waynesburg Eastern Star, a Kentucky Colonel, a
member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and member of Alpha Delta
Kappa in Somerset.
Blanche leaves behind several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and
-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three
brothers, Fred, John Marion and Thomas Albert Hubble; and three sisters, Faunice
Hubble,
Nettie Stonecypher and Katherine May.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Barnett &
Demrow Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating the service. Graveside
services
will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park on Bardstown Road in
Louisville with Bro. Kerry Jones officiating the service.

WILLIAMS, Dorothy Mae (Newcomb) Age 86 of Cincinnati, formerly of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Mount Washington Care Center.
She was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on November 12, 1925 the daughter of the late Robert Jackson and Stella (Spivey) Newcomb. Dorothy was previously employed with Pillsbury and Harris Shoe Store.
She is survived by her
two sons, Fred (Tami) Williams and Rusty (Carolyn) Williams; several
grandchildren and great grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Roy, bobby,
Donny, Ronnie, Virginia, Lois,
Bessie, Benny and Justine. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her grandson
Brandon Williams, three sisters and two brothers, Betty Jane, Sherry, Georgia,
David and Keith.
Funeral ceremony will be
held at 2 PM on Friday September 7, 2012 at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home
with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends and family will be
received
one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
