Steve Allen, age 48 died Sat. Nov. 12, 2011 at
Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville. He was the husband of Angela Lynn
Baumgartner Allen whom he married May 5, 2001.
Steve was born April 22, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Willie
and Wanda Jean Ray Allen. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Pentecostal
Church.
He was an employee of the Allen Company.
Survivors Include: wife, Angela, son:
Justin Lamb of Lexington, KY, two Sisters; Kathy Johnson of Deland, Florida,
Loretta Wood of Crab Orchard, KY, one brother, James
Allen of Crab Orchard. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews
and many good friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, Stephen is
preceded in death by one nephew, Jamie Keith Anders.
Funeral services will be held 1PM,
Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donald
King officiating.
Burial will take place at Red Hill
Cemetery with Military Honors by the Caswell Saufley America Legion Post # 18 of
Stanford.

Asbery, 44, of Hustonville, died Thursday.
Born Aug. 6, 1968, in Boyle County, Ky., he was the son of
Barbara Blakey Asbery of Hustonville and the late Jimmie Asbery. He was a tool
and die maker and
owner and operator of B&J Towing. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed
hunting, fishing and loved working on cars.
Other survivors include his beloved wife, Judy Barnett Asbery of Hustonville; a son, Joe Asbery of Hustonville: and a cousin, Kenneth Reed of Middleburg.
Cremation rites were honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Hubbard Bandy, 66, of Moreland, went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, Dec. 9,
2012.

Dec. 23, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Pauline and George Hubbard Jr. She
was a member of Moreland Christian Church. She was employed by Wal-Mart in
Harrodsburg,
where she loved her fellow employees. Joyce loved having her family around and
cooking for them. Family was so important to her.
Survivors
include her husband of 47 years, James H. Bandy; daughter, Melissa Bandy of
McKinney; son, Shea (Arlene) Bandy of Lexington; brother, Roger Hubbard of
Florida,
and his son, Anthony Hubbard; and two grandchildren, Tabor and Shealy Bandy.
She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Bandy,
and grandchild, Elizabeth.
Services
will be noon Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. David Smith.
Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

the late Matthew R. Barbour. Butchie enjoyed working on cars and fishing in his
spare time.

addition to his mother, Butchie leaves behind a significant other, Sue Wilson;
one son, Matthew Barbour of Stanford; three daughters, Samantha & Ashley

Chicago, Illinois and Brittany Barbour of Stanford; one brother, Jeffery David

of Crab Orchard; and two grandchildren.

Mae Woods Boyd, 81, of Stanford died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in Danville. She
was the widow of Ray Boyd.
Born
in Lancaster on March 2, 1931 to the late Gloud Byrd and Cora McQueary Phillips,
she was a former Sunday School teacher, and she was a member of Stanford Baptist
Church.
She
is survived by two sons, Ronnie L. Woods and Robert L. Woods, both of
Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Brenda McFerron of Stanford; one sister, Ruby
Lawson of Indianapolis:
12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many
nieces and nephews.
She
was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Mae Woods; one great-grandchild,
Breanna Perry; two brothers, Gloud Byrd, Jr. and Robert L. Brummett; and four
sisters,
Johnetta Sizemore, Lucille Sullivan, Betty Jo Sanchez and Carolyn Hale.
The
funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel in Stanford,
with Jason Coulter officiating. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

McDowell Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Crab Orchard on June 7, 1950, to the late John and Alice Buchanan
Chappell. He was a factory worker for General Electric.
Survivors
include one son, John Raymond Chappell of Cincinnati; one daughter, Julie
Michelle Pomeroy of Cincinnati; one brother, Clarene "Buddy" Chappell
of Barboursville;
three sisters, Mary Lou Sowders of Stanford, Catherine Dishon of Stanford and
Fern Godbey of Danville; a special friend, Linda Witt of Stanford; and five
grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobbie
Chappell and Ronald Chappell; and a sister, Ruth Pruitt.

Edward Collins, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his residence.
Born Feb. 19, 1951, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of
Mildred Collins Kirby of Waynesburg, Ky., and the late Ruben Harrison Collins.
He was a 1969 graduate of
Memorial High School in Waynesburg. Dale loved the great outdoors, and in his
free time could often be found hunting, fishing,
riding horses or working on hot rods.
He was past chairman of the Wilderness Trace Ducks Unlimited
Chapter. He retired from Kentucky Utilities
as a transmission lines construction inspector, and spent much of his retirement
on the beach.
In addition to his mother, he
is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Collins (Dr. Carlton) Monroe of
Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dr. Megan Collins (Dr. Jason) Garrison of
Dover, Del.; two brothers, John (Suzan) Collins of Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., and Irvin Collins of Waynesburg; two sisters, Kay Hensley of Stanford and
Ann (Mike)
Belcher of Waynesburg; a sister-in-law, Janice Collins of Frankfort; his
grandchildren, Jack Monroe and Catherine Monroe, both of Cincinnati; an uncle,
Jonah
Dorwin Greer of Akron, Ohio; his former wives, Kaye Montgomery Adkins and Sandra
Collins, both of Danville; three nephews; and five nieces.
He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Collins.
An open memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville followed by a visitation until 1 p.m.

Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from General Electric

pawpaw of three grandchildren,

fishing enthusiast, and enjoyed listening to country music.

(Ottie), and ten great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three

and Margaret Reynierson North of Hustonville. She was the widow of Richard H.
Cooper Jr. and Sam Korb, her husband of 40 years.
Ann
is survived by three children, Margaret Ann Cooper Turner, Dickie (Sue) Cooper
and Bill (Marcy) Cooper; three step-children, Margaret (Jim) Butler, Beverley
(Kevin) Verdon and Susanne Collins; seven grandchildren, three
step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and
one great-great grandchild.
She
was preceded in death by her twin brother, James North.

Ind. — Freddie Glen Rice, 73, of Fulton, Ind., passed away at 5:30 a.m. Jan.
3, 2013, at his residence, after a nine-month battle with cancer.
He was born June 10, 1939, in Moreland, the son of the late Fred and Essie
Thomas Rice. Freddie had lived in Gravel Switch, Logansport, Ind., Twelve Mile,
Ind., and Pendleton,
Ind. prior to moving to Fulton. He served with the United States Air Force from
1959 to 1965. On Jan. 26, 1979 in Logansport, Ind., he married Elizabeth
“Jan” Pittman and she survives.
Mr.
Rice had been a safety hazard manager for the State of Indiana, having served
over 40 years in fire service. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening
and sitting and
visiting on his front porch on Main Street in Fulton.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Steve)
Whitaker of Wetmore, Kan., and Sue Rice (Kevin) Schmitz of Netawaka, Kan.; one
step-son,
Shawn “Mike” (Ute) Fuller of Clarksville, Tenn.;
one step-daughter, Kimberly (Brad) Doyle of Monticello, Ind.; 15 grandchildren;

Funeral Home with Bro. Matt Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo

Gene Sims, 82, of Kings Mountain, died Saturday.
Born
March 7, 1930, in Casey County, he was a son of the late John T. and Anna Rigney
Sims. He was the widower Imogene King Sims.
Survivors
include two sons, Danny Sims of Kings Mountain and Anthony Sims of Brodhead;
four daughters, Mary Jo Elliott of Liberty, Debra Wheeler and Teresa McQueary,
both of Kings Mountain, and Crystal Robbins of Hustonville; two brothers, Hollis
and Lloyd Sims, both of Louisville; a sister,
Linda Patterson of Kings Mountain; 16 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.

was the daughter of the late James Floyd and Dorothy Merrit Wilcher.
She owned
and operated the Wooden Nickel Hail Salon in Stanford and was a member of Grace
Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert
Spahr,
1 sister, Deloris Pendergraft and 1 brother, Jimmy Wilcher.
She is survived by her son,
Ryan Scott (Sherri) Spahr; 2 brothers: Grover “G.C.” Wilcher and James Floyd
“J.F.” Wilcher, Jr.; 4 sisters: Gertrude Davis, Matilda Price,
Diane Cook
and Sandy Chandler and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 am, Friday

Joseph "Arnold" Stogsdill,
83, of Stanford, KY passed away January 3, 2013 at home. He was born May 25,
1929 in Pulaski County, KY to the late Josiah and Nora Hargis Stogsdill.
He was
a retired plumber and electrician, and a member of The Stanford Baptist Church
where he served as a Deacon since 1964 and a Sunday school teacher for over 50
years.
Survivors include one son; Joe
Stogsdill (Becky), one daughter; Pamela Fins (Eddie) both of Stanford, KY, one
brother; Okel Stogsdill (Zan), two sisters; Mary and Dorothy
Mounce both of
Somerset, KY, two grandchildren; Stephanie Fins and Seth Stogsdill, and a host
of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years; Imogene
Stogsdill who passed away December 16, 2012, three brothers; Ermil, Orville, and
Othnal Stogsdill, and four sisters; Olive and Doris Stogsdill, Edna Whitis, and
Elma Haste.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 6,
2013 from 5-9pm. Funeral service will be Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1pm with the
Reverend Greg Hancock officiating. Both services will be

Gervis
Ray Sutton, 85, of Crab Orchard, died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler
Medical Center in Lexington.
He
was the husband of the late Deborah (Rutledge) Sutton who preceded him in death
Jan. 2, 2001.
Gervis
was born in Harlan, April 16, 1927, to the late James Monroe and Zora Bell (Kincer) Sutton. Gervis
was a Kentucky Colonel and a veteran of the U.S. Navy and
U.S. Army having served in World War II
and in Korea.
Gervis
is survived by three sons, Wayne Bolen (Missie) of Florence, Alan Sutton of
Boulder, Colo., and Greg Sutton (Lisa) of Unionville, Ind.; three daughters,
Lori Anne
Bolen of Crab Orchard, Tracey Causey (Evan) of Corbin, and Tina
Bratcher (Michael) of Crab Orchard; fiancée Joanna Rose of Crab Orchard; one
sister, Thelma Carlsmith
(Roger) of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Margie Sutton of
Frankfort; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Allyson and Dax.
In
addition to his parents and wife, Gervis was preceded in death by stepmother
Julia M. Sutton; two brothers, Guyles and Lewis Sutton; and two sisters, Edith
Sutton and Ruth Hild.
Services
will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Gutenson
officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Burial
will be at Piney Grove Cemetery with military funeral honors by Caswell Saufley
America Legion Post 18.

— Mary Lou Whitaker, 67, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St.
Mary's and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.
Born Sept. 3, 1945, in Hazard, Ky., she was a daughter of the
late Vernie and Verna Dixon Caudill. She was a librarian at Hillview Public
Library in Louisville for 15 years.
She was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Hansford Whitaker
of Louisville; a son, Leander Whitaker (Teresa) of Pekin, Ind.; four brothers,
Alan Caudill of Humbel,
Texas, Hansel Caudill of Hopewell, Va., Kenneth Ray Caudill of Stanford and
Russell Caudill of Lancaster; two sisters, Veneda Phillips of Stanford and
Geneva McKinney of
Hamilton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Bell.
Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at
Spurlin Funeral Home. Bro. Haston Whitaker and Bro. Bert Caudill will officiate
the service.
Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery, Waynesburg.
