of Lancaster, KY passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Baptist Health in
Lexington, KY. He was born April 5, 1947 to the late James and Bertha Lane
Asberry. He was a farmer and a member of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors include his wife
Lizzie Moore Asberry, four sons; Randy Asberry (Jenny), Jeff Asberry, Danny
Asberry (April) all of Lancaster, KY and Rodney Asberry (Carrie) of Highland,
KY, four daughters; Rhonda Miller (Travis) of Lexington, KY, Shonda Stevens
(Charlie McQuerry) of Lancaster, KY, Karen Tinsley (Tim) of Greeneville, SC,
Wendy Asberry of Lancaster, KY, five brothers; Charles, Jimmy, Ricky, Donald,
and Roy Asberry, six sisters; Carrie Floyd, Roberta Long, Barbara Long, Kathy
Long, Peggy Hale, and Shelia Asberry, twenty nine grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
one grandson; Jeffery Tyler Asberry, two brothers; Wendell Asberry, Bobby
Asberry, one sister; Myrtle Delaney, and one infant sister; Freida Asberry.
Visitation will be Tuesday,
April 9, 2013 from 5-9pm. Funeral will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2pm with
Brother Gene Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery
in Stanford, KY.

H. “Jimmy” Baughman, 55, of Huntsville, Ala., passed away Mon., March 18,
2013, at his residence.
Jimmy
had a career as a musician playing drums in various bands in Alabama and Georgia
over the past 35 years. His musical career included performing at venues in the
Southeast as well as
providing percussion tracts during studio recording
sessions in Nashville.
Jimmy
enjoyed writing and playing his music with a broad network of close friends
located in Alabama and the Atlanta area. In addition to music, Jimmy had a
remarkable knowledge of cars, motorcycles and auto racing. Some of Jimmy’s
best memories of visiting Hustonville during his youth involved the many hours
he spent tagging along with his Uncle Sam as he made his daily stops around
Lincoln County.
Survivors
include his father, John H. Baughman; a sister, Ann (Steve) Porter; and two
nieces, Becky Porter and Allison Porter.
Jimmy
was preceded in death by his mother, Elgin W. Baughman.
A
graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Hustonville
Cemetery.

Willis and Dora Naylor Brown. He was the widower of Leona Jenkins Brown. He was
a farmer and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons,
Mike Brown (Marti) and Sammy Brown (Crystal) both of Waynesburg, KY; his
fiancé' ; a brother, Albert Vernon Brown (Ellen) of McKinney, KY; two sisters,
Emma King and Catherine Owens (James) both of McKinney, KY; four grandchildren,
Melissa Marsh (Jim), Morgan Brown, Nick Brown (Crystal) and Misti Viandes (Jeromy);
a step grandson, Chris Cole; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Toddie Brown, Ernest
Brown and a sister, Mamie Privett.

was the widow of Robert Charles Bryan. She was a wife and mother, she was a
member of the Crestwood Christian Church Disciples of Christ and she was a
member of the D.A.R.

daughters, Rebecca Ruth Bryan of Fairfax, VA, Margaret Bryan Champion of
Greencastle, IN and Marie Bryan Weaver of Elizabethtown, KY; a brother, John
Rodman Bradshaw of Danville, KY and a sister, Julia Ann Young of Spartanburg,
SC; five grandchildren, Georgia Carol Holko, James Robert Champion, Elizabeth
Michelle Boucher, John Christopher Weaver and Andrea Elizabeth Weaver; two

her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Wolford;
and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Wolford Logan and Pearl Wolford Jones; and
several nieces and nephews.

She was born November 15, 1919, in Waynesburg, KY, to the late Leemon and Murial
Morgan Singleton. She married John DeWitte, and was employed as an inspector
with P.R. Mallory. Frances was a longtime member of Irvington Presbyterian
Church, and a volunteer at Methodist Hospital for many years.

January 4, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at Shirley
Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel , 9606 E. Washington St.
Frances is survived by her
loving husband of 65 years, John DeWitte; sons, Kevin (Vicky) and Timothy (Mona)

was employed 30 years by Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John's United
Church of Christ and UAW Local #933. Other survivors include his sister Mary
Motz of Goshen, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He
was also preceded in death by his brothers Arthur and Joseph Gutenson; and
sisters Oma Carter and Silma Stempfly. Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, January
21, in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation two
hours prior to the service at the mortuary. Private burial will be in Arlington

Hazel L. Age 97 of Monroe, formerly of Hamilton, passed away on Monday January
7, 2013 at the Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Hustonville, Kentucky on
September 17, 1915 the daughter of the late Emmett and Emma (Yocum) McBee. On
August 19, 1934 in Clay County, Kentucky she married Marcus E. Hacker and he
preceded her in death on June 15, 1994 and to this marriage were born two
daughters, Jean Hutson of Monroe and Joyce Scott of Hamilton and a son Stanley
(Donna Jones) Hacker of Hamilton.
Hazel
was a pioneer member of the Berean Baptist Church of Middletown. She enjoyed
gardening, sewing and was a avid reader. Her life was devoted to her family and
they will miss her sweetness, strength, humor and support. Hazel is also
survived by her grandchildren, Cindy Davidson, Mark Hacker, Shane and Shannon
Jones, Rick and Russ Harden and Scott Harden; ten great grandchildren and
several great- great - grandchildren.
She
was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Robin Reeves, great
granddaughter Kristy Harden; brothers; Arnold, Roscoe, Dee McBee and Norman
McDaniel; sisters; Hattie Wade, Edna Halcomb, Marie Robbins, Irene Byrd and Ruth
Parker. The family would like to thank the fourth floor staff of the Atrium
Medical Center for all their excellent care and kindness.
Funeral
ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday January 10, 2013 at the Webb Noonan

Wal~Mart Inc., he loved working on cars and bicycles, and he loved to fish. He
was a member of Danville First Church of God.

Jeffrey Carroll Harness of Mount Vernon, KY, two brothers; James Mitchell

Millie Anderson of New Vienna, Jo Ann (Terry) Gotherman of Winchester, and

Mae Siler Holtzclaw, 96, of Stanford, KY died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at
University of KY Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was born November 15, 1916
in Lincoln County, KY to the late William Virgil and Bertha Durham Siler. She
was the widow of William Oscar Holtzclaw whom she married in 1947 and he died in
1966. Ella Mae was a longtime farmer in the Hubble Community and attended the
McKendree Methodist Church for over 60 years while remaining a member of the old
Maywood Baptist Church. She was a houseparent at the Kentucky School for the
Deaf in Danville, KY, retiring in 1981. She was an active member of the Hubble
Homemakers from the 1940's until the club disbanded in 2010. She was a skilled
quilter and was a member of the Lincoln County Quilters' Guild which met at the
Stanford Library.

include a brother, Virgil Siler, Jr. of Louisville, KY; a stepdaughter, Virginia
Cruse (Eugene) of Somerset, KY; a daughter-in-law, Johnetta Holtzclaw; Seven

the late Boyd and Hazel Patrick Johnson. He
was the widower of Wanda Jean Smallwood Johnson, who preceded him in death on
October 26, 2012. Garland was an
owner of a machine shop, for many years, that assisted with sawmills in the
area. He attended London Community
Church.
Garland
leaves behind one daughter, Sheri Johnson Moyer (Norman) of Farmersville, Ohio;
two step-sons, Mike Bates (Patti) of Milford, Ohio and Tim Bates (Dawn) of
Cincinnati, Ohio; one step-daughter, Donna Walsh (Frank) of Alexandria,
Virginia; two brothers, Chalmer Johnson (Lois) of Dayton, Ohio and Roger Johnson
of Malone, Kentucky; one sister, Bernice Potter (Raymond) of Malone, Kentucky;
one granddaughter, Allie Moyer of Farmersville, Ohio; five step-grandchildren;
four step great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one infant
sister, Neva Jewell Johnson.

Visitation will take place 6-8PM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Barnett &
Demrow Funeral Home. The Funeral
Service will be 10:00AM Friday, April 26, 2013, at the funeral home, with Bro.

Center. He was born March 8, 1952 in Stanford, KY to the late William Lee and
Sue Dawson Jones. He worked in the food industry and was a member of First
Baptist Church in Stanford, KY.
Survivors
include one brother; Benny Cook who resides in New York, two nephews; Donald

Lee “Bill” Jones Jr. of Hustonville, age 89, died at his home on April 14,
2013. He was the son of late William Lee and Sallie Estes Jones. He was born in
Glendale, Arizona, on December 29, 1923. Bill graduated from Hustonville High
School and was a PFC in the Army Air Corp during WWII.
He
was a lifelong farmer and loved building, traveling, making furniture, inventing
tools and gadgets, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He
leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Nell Schrader, a daughter Jan Banks of
Liberty and many friends and neighbors. Other survivors include two grandsons,
Boyd (Shelby) from Roseville, CA, and Andrew (Cassadee) of Liberty, and three
great grandchildren, Tristin, Lauren and Cayden.
He
is preceded in death by a brother Harry Lynn, a sister, Lidabel Cochran and a
son-in-law David. Bill was a member of the First Christian Church in Hustonville
where he served as a deacon. He will be remembered for his clever wit, his
gentle demeanor, and his willingness to help others. A celebration of life
memorial service will be held at the Hustonville Christian Church at 4pm on
Sunday April 21st. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland is in charge of

was a US Army veteran and a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church where he
served as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of Deacons. He is survived
by his wife of 59 years, Onilee Wells Lawless; three sons: Steve (Denise)
Lawless, Brad (Judy) and Jeff Lawless, all of Lexington; one brother, Jones
(Jean) Lawless, Jr. of Hustonville; one sister, Charlotte (Albert) Wall of
Frankfort, one sister-in-law, Betty Dean (Jim) Sweet of TN; and nine

She was born June 6, 1928, in Hustonville, KY, the daughter of Issac and Amanda
Leach Qualls.
On May 24, 1956, she married Francis L. Morris; he preceded her in death on July
3, 1998.
Nannie was a homemaker who loved to read, play cards, complete word searches,
plant flowers, garden, and spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Bertha Pippenger, Mary Rowland, and Faye
(Dennis) Mocherman; one daughter-in-law, Donna McWhorter; ten grandchildren, 22
great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son,
Kenneth E. McWhorter, two sons-in-law, Terry L. Rowland and Stephen Pippenger;

Cincinnati. She was a member of
Norwood Baptist Church in Cincinnati and she loved to travel.
In
addition to her husband, Christine leaves behind one brother, Omer Shearer, Jr.
(Pauline) of Stanford; one sister, Marie Whitehouse of Indiana; and several
nieces and nephews. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Cecil, John, Richard,

"Polly" Lawson Shepherd 85, died Sunday Oct. 14, 2012 in Plainfield.
She was a resident of Plainfield and formerly of Indianapolis.
Polly
was born June 27, 1927 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to Everitt and Myrtle (Denny)
Lawson. She was a cosmetic sales person at LS Ayres for 17 years. Polly loved
playing bingo, going to the casinos and attending the Concord Senior Citizens
Center. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors
include two children, William L. (Lori) Gates and Robert T. (Nancy) Gates;
step-son, Paul (Catherine) Shepherd; a brother, Charles L. (Mary Ann) Lawson;
three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charlie Shepherd and
brother, William Doug Lawson. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday Oct. 17, 2012 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel , 729 U.S. Hwy
31 North, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the
funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.

T. Sowders, 88, of Stanford, KY died Saturday at Eph. McDowell Regional Medical
Center in Danville, KY. He was born January 24, 1925 in Lincoln County to the
late George and Bessie Ballard Sowders.
He was the widower of Dorothy Hager Sowders.
Mr.
Sowders had worked at Corning Glass in Danville as a forklift operator, he was
an Army Veteran of WWII and a member and deacon of Fairview Baptist Church.
Survivors
include a son, James C. "Jimmy" Sowders (Faith) of Midway Park, NC;
six grandchildren, Darlene
Ponce, Jimmy Sowders, Jeff Sowders, Joey Sowders, Jennifer Lins and Corey Elder;
two Step grandsons; thirteen great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren
and two great-great grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie D. Sowders. Visitation will be
Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 5-9 with the funeral service at 11 am Thursday
all at Spurlin Funeral Home. Reverend Chester Cornett will be officiating the
service. Burial will be in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.

memorial service celebrating the life of SGM. Morris Allen Stapleton, U.S. Army
(Ret.) will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in Greenlawn Funeral

On February 24th, 2013, Morris Allen Stapleton left this life to be with God. He
passed away after a short illness. He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to the
late Robert Stapleton and Helen Adams Stapleton.
He is survived by his
wife of 62 years, Elizabeth, his son Bernard, daughter-in-law, Martha and two
grandsons, Joseph and Cameron. Mr. Stapleton was a veteran of both the Korean
and Vietnam conflicts and retired with the rank of Sergeant Major from the
United States Army after many years of dedicated service to our country. In his
second career, he served as the Records Manager for First National Bank of
Maryland before enjoying a long and happy retirement in Columbia, SC.

Pierce Stephenson MT. PLEASANT - Stanly Pierce Stephenson, 93, husband of the
late Dorothy Mai Cunningham Stephenson, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on July
5, 2012. The relatives and friends of Stanly Stephenson are invited to attend
his Funeral Service at the graveside on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Mount Pleasant
Memorial Gardens at 2:00 pm.. Mr. Stephenson was born December 6, 1918 in
Hustonville, KY, son of the late Stanly Stephenson and Pauline Combest
Stephenson. He graduated the University of Kentucky with a degree in Marketing,
and later received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Centre College in
Danville, KY.
During
the war he served in the U.S. Army, with one of his postings being at White
Sands, NM. He was retired from the Oil Industry as a chemist for Chevron. For a
while he worked as a stockbroker on Wall Street, and developed his own practice
in that field. He was a long-time resident of the Snee Farm Community, Mt.
Pleasant, where he enjoyed his daily walks around the neighborhood for many
years.
He
was the last living member of his family, having been preceded in death by his
brother, Max, and his sister-in-law Elzie, Max's wife, in 2010 and 2011
respectively. His wife Dorothy, and younger daughter, Cindy, passed away in 2008
and 2007, respectively. His oldest daughter, Suzanne, died in a tragic accident
in 2011. Suzanne's husband, Richard Fitzgerald, lives in Virginia. Both Richard
and his friend Priscilla Craft wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the
staff at all three Sandpiper facilities, including the administrative staff,
nurses, caretakers, cooks, cleaning maintenance staff; and the Agape Hospice
staff, all of whom showed such kindness, patience, and assistance to Stanly.
Thanks are also extended to Mr. Jim Hennessy, Mr. John McNeil, Mr. John Hyland,
and employees at First Federal for their friendship and wise counsel to him.

Campbell Stevens, 93, of Danville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Charleston
Health Care Center.
Born
Nov. 27, 1920, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of Jason Henry and Carrie
Caldwell Campbell, and the widow of John Daniel Stevens. A graduate of
Waynesburg High School,
she earned her RN degree at University of
Louisville.
She
began as a floor nurse and retired as director of nursing at Ephraim McDowell
Hospital. In retirement, she worked in the infirmary at Centre College and later
in the ladies’ department at Wal-Mart.
Josephine
was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being a member
of the Primetimers Choir.
She
was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Lee Caldwell.
Survivors
include two sons, John “Eddie” (Frances) Stevens of Stanford and Richard
LeHenry “Bubba” Stevens of Danville; a sister-in-law, Betty Baugh Campbell
of Lexington; a granddaughter, Patty Glyn Stevens; and two great-grandchildren,
Ashley Nicole Stevens and Jonathan Tyler Stevens.
The
funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim
Mathis will officiate. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

HELEN DAVIS, 82, of Louisville, passed away unexpected October 30, 2012 at
Norton Audubon Hospital.
She was born July 19, 1930 in Dayton, KY to Hugh and Clara Davis and grew up in
Stanford, KY, where she graduated from High School before going to Eastern
Kentucky University. She taught second grade for 12 years in the Garrard County
and Jefferson County School Systems before the birth of her son. She was a
substitute teacher for many years, and a member of Crescent Hill Presbyterian
Church.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Paul Taylor; son Jim Taylor
(Suzanne); granddaughters, Katie and Caroline Taylor; sister, Betty Lou Grigsby
of Huntsville, AL; many nieces and nephews and numerous lifelong friends.

Ocala - Cecil J. Thompson, 97, of Ocala, passed away October 14, 2012.
He was born on May 30, 1915 in Waynesburg, KY, son to the late Monroe and Rose
Anne (Payne) Thompson. He was a SGT with the 68th Field Artillery, United States
Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille; two
sons, Dennis and Leroy; eight brothers and sisters and one grandson.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marchetta and James Palumbo of
Ocala; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Theresa Thompson of Cuyahoga
Falls, OH; a brother, Robert Foster and a sister Lilly Weaver both in Ocala; six
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
on Thursday October 18, 2012 with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. also at the
funeral home. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

Jewish Hospital
in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Aug. 4, 1932, in Broughtontown, Ky., he was a son of the late Andy and Elizabeth
Adams Wallin. Lowell was drafted into the Army and served in Germany during the Korean War.
After the Army, Lowell went to work for Stearns and Foster Co. in Lockland,
Ohio, and retired in 1993 after 42 years of service with the company.
Lowell was of the
Baptist faith, a Kentucky Colonel and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Survivors Include
his wife of 52 years, Norma J. Manuel Wallin of Lockland, Ohio; four sisters,
Edith Dishon, Judy Croushorn, Janet (Doug) Bishop and Joyce (Tommy) Messer; and
several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1
p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dale Hunt, minister
of Crab Orchard Christian Church. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery
with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

He was the widower of the late Olvett Neal Wright.

He loved football, was a skilled sketcher and painter, and loved big band
music.

Wright (Brenda) of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and several great-great grandchildren. In
addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert
Wright; and one great-grandson.

Funeral Home. The Funeral Service
