STANFORD - Services for Bessie Leeper Alford, 82, of McKinney, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home by Bob Bausum. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery.
She died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born May 25, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Matt G. and Nannie Vinson Leeper. She was a retired employee of Kentucky State Hospital, a member of McKinney Baptist Church and the widow of Aubrey W. Alford.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Brockman of McKinney.

ANDERSON, Clarence W. 
LANCASTER - Services for Clarence Walker Anderson, 94, Dickerson Court, formerly of Preachersville, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Billy Estes. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
He died Monday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital's extended care unit. Born July 18, 1902, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David Mason and Lula Holtzclaw Anderson. He was a retired farmer and a member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church. He was the widower of Nannie Mae Gooch Anderson.
Survivors include three daughters, Luanna Anderson Moody of Louisville, Nancy Irene Anderson Bailey of Indianapolis and Doris Evelyn Anderson Spurlin of Preachersville; a son, Edward Wayne Anderson, Harrodsburg; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Anderson.

ATKINS, James Atkins
SCIENCE HILL - James "Bud" Atkins, 70, River Drive, Stanford, died Saturday at Ft. Logan Hospital.
Born July 2, 1926, in Lincoln County, he was a son of James F. and Mary Adams Atkins. He was a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Atkins; three sons, Bobby Atkins of Waynesburg and James and Donald Atkins, both of Stanford; a daughter, Mary Lee Sowder, Stanford; a half brother, Tommy Atkins, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Ella Moore of Hustonville and Lula Bray of Franklin, Ohio; a half sister, Gladys Martin, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were 11 a.m. today at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by the Rev. John Dean. Burial was in Mill Springs National Cemetery

AUSTIN, Genevieve E. 
Genevieve Estes Austin, 73, Green River Road, Hustonville, died today at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford.
Born June 10, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Emmitt Carpenter and Montie Pauline Tinsley Estes. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was the widow of Cecil Joseph Austin.
Survivors include a son, Phillip Austin of Hustonville, a daughter, Connie Jo Austin of Hustonville, a brother, Lawrence Estes of Hustonville, a sister, Thelma Hazlett of Danville, and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Salem Baptist Church by the Revs. Bobby Estes and Stan Stevenson. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home and after noon Saturday at the church.

BAKER, Jennifer C.
STANFORD - Services for Jennifer Crickmer Baker, 51, Clubside Drive, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stanford Christian Church by the Rev. Steven Smith. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
She died of natural causes Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Nov. 30, 1947, in Beckley, W.V., she was a daughter of Mary A. Hughes Crickmer of Bluefield, Va., and the late Walter Crickmer. She was a former Highland Elementary School teacher and a bookkeeper with Rankin, Baker and Teater law office, and a treasurer and former deacon of Stanford Christian Church. She was chairperson of Lincoln County Junior Miss and a member of the PTA and school council. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Beta Psi chapter.
Survivors are her husband, Robert R. Baker; a son, Jonathan Baker, Stanford; a daughter, Stephanie Baker, Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Walter B. Crickmer III, Abingdon, Va.

BELL, Thelma H.
STANFORD - Thelma Hamilton Bell, 94, Old Somerset Road, Stanford, died Sunday at home.
Born Sept. 12, 1902, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Henry Clay and Laura Powell Hamilton. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Kentucky School for the Deaf for eight years and in Lynch, Ky., for 13 years. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Garden Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the widow of Andrew M. Bell.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Story. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

BENEDICT, Homer E.
MORELAND - Homer Edward Benedict, 84, of Hustonville died Friday at Harborside Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
Born April 15, 1913, in Lincoln County, he was the son of late Steve Benedict and Bessie Raney Benedict. He was a carpenter, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Ellisburg Baptist Church. He was the widower of Mary Ann Curtsinger Benedict.
Survivors include two sons, Shelby Gene Benedict and Dallas W. Benedict, both of Indianapolis; one daughter, Shirley Long of Indianapolis; three stepdaughters, Nancy Brown and Ellen Crowe, both of Hustonville, and Sue Chasten of Cornersville, Ind.; three brothers, John Benedict of Indianapolis, George Benedict of Hustonville, and Steve Stanley of Parksville; one sister, Audie Maddock of Stanford; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. G.W. Smith. Burial will be at Hustonville Cemetary.

STANFORD - Kathryn Johnson Berry, 77, Tallapoosa, Ga., died Monday at Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton, Ga.
Born May 17, 1919, in Carroll County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Allie Bell Johnson. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, James C. Berry; a son, Samuel J. Berry, Carrollton; three grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

FORT MITCHELL - Della Denham Bishop, 84, of Fort Mitchell died November 24 at home.
Born July 8, 1912, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Maudie Denham.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Bishop; a daughter, Lavonne Ritchie of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Bobby Denham of Stanford and Fred Denham of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Iva Sears of Florence and Nina Durham of Danville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 26 at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

BRENDA, Matilda B.
CRAB ORCHARD - Matilda M. Bless Brenda, 82, of Manor Boulevard died Saturday at her home.
Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Ottenheim, she was the daughter of the late Emil Fredrick and Mary Margaret Beyer Bless. She was a homemaker, widow of Gusta Brenda, and a lifetime member of Ottenheim Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles G. Brenda.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley J. Martin and Sylvia Ahearn, both of Lancaster; three sons, Edward E. Brenda and Herbert D. Brenda, both of Crab Orchard, and Arthur P. Brenda of Somerset; and two brothers, Bernard Bless of Waynesburg and Emil Bless Jr. of Montgomery, Ala.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ottenheim Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Witten. Burial will be in Ottenheim Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home and from 1:30 p.m. until time of services Monday at the church.

CRAB ORCHARD - Sallie Jane Anderson Brock, 91, died Saturday at Fort Logan Extended Care Unit in Stanford.
Born March 15, 1906, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late John Sam Anderson. She was a housewife and a 47-year member of Ephesus Baptist Church. She was the widow of Engle Brock Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lewis Brock.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Brock and Engle Brock Jr., both of Crab Orchard; one daughter, Dora Perkins of Harrison, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Revs. Ewell Hargis and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Ephesus Cemetery.

STANFORD - Lillie Catherine Anderson Campbell, 87, of 711 Miller St. died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1909, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret Naylor Anderson. She was the widow of Ernest W. Campbell. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a half sister, Hazel Novotni of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Tim Boscher. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation is after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Spring Meadows Children's Home, Middletown.

Sara Elizabeth Campbell, 74, of White Oak Road, Junction City, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar H. and Rosa L. Atkins Hasty. She was a ward clerk at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, and a lifetime member of Blue Lick Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cleo Campbell; a son, Paul Campbell of Stanford; a brother, Oscar H. Hasty Jr. of McMinnville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, David Campbell.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Stith Funeral Home.

She died Sunday at Vencor Hospital, Louisville.
Born July 25, 1930, in Kings Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Emmitt L. and Pierce Philips Dishon. She was a homemaker, a member of South Fork Baptist Church, a former member of Eastern Star and the widow of George D. Carter.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Carter of Georgetown and Herstel Carter of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Velda Reed of Miami Lakes, Fla., Dixie Black of Athens, Texas, and Debra League of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Shirley Griffitts of Springfield; two half brothers, Starling Brown of Lexington and Charles Dishon of Seaside Heights, N.J.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Born Jan. 1, 1928, in Stanford, he was a son of the late Matthew Cecil and Ida Florence Simpson Coffman. He was a member of Harrodsburg Church of God.

Born May 30, 1904, in Pulaski County, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah E. and Susan Meece Eads. She was a homemaker, a member of Green River Pentecostal Church and the widow of George D. Coleman.
Survivors include three sons, Herbert Coleman of Kings Mountain, George Coleman of Jackson, Miss., and Kenneth Coleman of Lexington; five daughters, Nora Hasty of Auburndale, Fla., Verna Carrier of Waynesburg, Mary Jones and Linda B. Kilby, both of Kings Mountain, and Pauline Davis of Stanford; 42 grandchildren; and several great-and great-great-grandchildren.

WAYNESBURG - Edna McMullin Cornett, 82, of Charleston Health Care, formerly of Stanford, died Sunday at Charleston Health Care, Danville.
Born Jan. 29, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Corintha Leach McMullin. She was a homemaker and belonged to Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hiram Cornett.
Survivors include two brothers, Ordnal McMullin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Charles McMullin of Leeton, Mo.; and two sisters, Audrey Moore of Shelbyville and Dortha McMullin of Danville.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. Vola Brown. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born Dec. 28, 1913, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Katherine Pence Hill. She was a homemaker and a member of Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. She was the widow of George G. Cox.
Survivors are a son, William P. Cox, Lexington; a daughter, Georgia Hocker, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary H. Woodall, Stanford; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

She died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford.
Born March 25, 1914, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Julia Clem Rice. She was a retired cook with Fort Logan Hospital and a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, James T. Crawford; four sons, James R. Crawford of Stanford, Robert L. Crawford of Memphis, Tenn., Samuel Crawford of Madisonville, and Danny J. Crawford of Lexington; a daughter, June Long of Lancaster; three sisters, Julie A. Griffiths of Galesburg, Ill., Alice Crowe and Irene Casey, both of Bloomington, Ill.; nine brothers, Roy Rice of Harrodsburg, Sam Rice of Middletown, J.T. He died Monday at Casey County Hospital.
Born April 22, 1954, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Laura Griffin Crowe of Moreland the late Willie Crowe. He was an employee of Wofford-Wethington Timber Co.
Survivors include a brother, Jesse Crowe of Moreland; five sisters, Bonnie Singleton of Danville, Evelyn Rousey and Shirley Martin, both of Hustonville, Juanita Lay of Dayton, Ohio, and Connie Johnson of Perryville.
Pallbearers will be James and Randy Rousey, Brian Caldwell, Tim Martin, Ronnie Davis and Robert Cummins.

STANFORD -- Services for Barbara Goggin Curlis, 50, of Stanford, are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Stanford Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Gooch, Steve Howerton, Farris Marcum, Bobby Camenisch, Jeff Gooch, Doug Hawkins and Jody Curlis.
She died Thursday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center of natural causes. 
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Curlis; two daughters, Caty Curlis of Stanford and Dana Curlis of Lexington; a son, Brett Curlis of Stanford; two brothers, Harry Goggin and Carl Goggin Jr., both of Stanford.
Memorials may go to the Barbara Curlis Scholarship Fund at Lincoln County High School.

She died Wednesday at Central Baptist Hospital.
Born March 28, 1916, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Ludema Gilliam James. She was a homemaker and a waitress, and a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Daugherty of Lexington; two daughters, Martha Beckham of Lexington and Carolyn S. Barclay of Houston; two brothers, Howard James of Tucson, Ariz., and David James of Cincinnati; two sisters, Sarah Huffaker of Noma, La., and Betty D'Arcy of Pasadena, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Daugherty; and a grandchild.

STANFORD - Eva Blankenship Davis, 86, of Main Street, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 7, 1911, in Preachersville, she was a daughter of the late Fount and Minnie Ware Blankenship. She was a homemaker and charter member of Stanford Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Davis, and a daughter, Mary Lee Davis Crowe.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Davis of Stanford; and a daughter, Sherrel Davis Pyle of Stanford; one brother, George Blankenship of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Ray Blankenship. Burial will be in Preachersville Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Beulah Doyle, 72, of Lancaster Street, died Saturday at Hospice Care Center, Lexington.
Born July 24, 1926, in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl Wells Doyle. She was a homemaker and attended Block Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include a son, Randall J. Doyle of Stanford; a daughter, Patricia Sandlin of Brodhead; a sister, Lillie Doyle of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Clyde Doyle of Princeton, Ind., and Dennis Doyle of Crab Orchard; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Donnie King. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

STANFORD - James Walter Durham, 72, of Danville Road, founder of Durham's Dish Barn, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Born July 12, 1925, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Walter and Ada Mae Hammond Durham.
He founded the Dish Barn on Stanford Road in 1960. He was a graduate of Danville High School and a member Willow Grove Baptist Church. His wife, Nellie Smith Durham, survives.

Born Oct. 17, 1910, in Clay County, he was a son of the late Jim and Susie Blair Estep.
He was a retired farmer and the widower of Mabel Eades Estep. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Bud Estep, and a daughter, Wanda Estep.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Estep of Perryville and Johnny Estep of Waynesburg; one brother, Bob Estep of Waynesburg; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Born Sept. 27, 1915, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Sallie McWhorter Gaines. He was former owner and operator of Gaines Furniture in Stanford and a farmer. He was a former member of Stanford and Springfield Lions Clubs and the widower of Thelma Smith Gaines.

Born March 14, 1906, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ida Farmer Hutchison. She was the former owner and operator of Spears Grocery and a homemaker. She was a member of Neals Creek Methodist Church. She was the wife of Elvin Gilpin of Stanford. 
She was preceded in death by a husband, Clyde Spears; a son, Donald Spears; and a daughter, Maxine Spears.
Survivors include three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

HARRIS, James C.
STANFORD - James C. Harris, 82, former Lincoln County sheriff and Stanford mayor, died Friday at his home, 110 Oakwood Drive.
The city's reservoir was named in his honor because the effort to build the 326-million-gallon lake started during his term as mayor. The lake was dedicated in 1990.
Harris was appointed mayor in July 1980 to fill an unexpired term. Then he was elected in 1981 and served until December 1985. When he was appointed, he gave his philosophy about being in public service. ``I always like to lay my cards on the table face-up. Then there's no misunderstanding afterwards,'' he said.
He was Lincoln County sheriff from 1959-62 and 1967-70.
"He did an outstanding job with the city," said current Mayor Jack Withrow, who was on the City Council when Harris was mayor. "He was a really fine man. I really enjoyed working with him."
John Sims, former county judge-executive, was sheriff when Harris was mayor. ``He was one of Lincoln County's better citizens. He was very active in a lot of things,'' Sims said. ``He was a super nice guy.''
Born Feb. 20, 1914, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late James Anderson and Jennie Pepples Harris. He was a farmer and had been active in the Lincoln County Farm Bureau, the Democratic Party and had served on the Lincoln County Fair Board. He was a member of Stanford Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Campbell Harris; a son, James Reuben Harris of Stanford; three daughters, Martha Harris Bastin of Tallahassee, Fla., Jane Harris Saufley of Danville and Linda Harris Best of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was an associational missionary in eastern Tennessee for over 10 years. He pastored churches in Clayborn County and Campbell County, Tenn., and several counties in Kentucky including Casey, Lincoln, Pulaski, Boyle and Clinton.
Survivors include his wife, Francis Jones Hill; three sons, Robert F. Hill, Michael S. Hill and Benjamin R. Hill, all of Stanford; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a step grandson; and a step great-grandchild.

Vaughn McGuire; four sons, Less McGuire, Kenneth, Wilburn and Arnold McGuire, all of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Ruth Creech of Lancaster, Helen Noel and Annaleen Holman, both of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Lisa Frith of Lancaster and Anna Roark of Crab Orchard; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great- great- grandchildren. STANFORD - Services for J.W. McKinney, Mount Salem, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Stump. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18.
He died Monday on his farm, apparently of a heart attack.
Born Dec. 9, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Walter and Mary Lee Givens McKinney. He was a farmer and retired deputy jailer of Lincoln and Casey counties. He was a member of Hustonville Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel and past master of McKinney Masonic Lodge 631. He was a former director of West Lincoln EMS and of Farm Bureau. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Survivors are his wife, Becky Martin McKinney; a son, Kelly McKinney, Mount Salem; two daughters, Susan Priddy, West Point, and Mary Martin Crawford, Louisville; two brothers, Bowen McKinney, Louisville, and George McKinney, St. Louis; a sister, Elizabeth Coble, St. Louis; and five grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Wilburn Emmett Maggard, 94, of Ky. Hwy. 1781, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 30, 1904, in Wise County, Va., he was a son of the late Sam Maggard and Mary Helen Killen Maggard Milliron. He was a farmer and attended Mount Zion Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

He died Monday at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 28, 1920, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Frank and Pearl Leonard Martin. He was a retired mechanic, a member of Pioneer Baptist Church and had served as a deacon and former Sunday School superintendent at Dry Branch Baptist Church. He had served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 10th Mountain Division 87. He also was a volunteer at the Christian Life Center.

LANCASTER - Frances Montgomery, 77, of Myers Court died Thursday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 4, 1921, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Allie Siler Johnson. She was a homemaker and member of Bryantsville Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Owen Montgomery and was preceded in death by a son, Harold E. Montgomery.

STANFORD - Mary J. Nye, 73, of Morrison, Ill., died Saturday at her sister's home in Stanford.
Born Feb. 20, 1925, in Stanford, she was a daughter of the late Claude D. and Margaret Burdine Bailey. She was the widow of Joseph H. Seelye and Kenneth L. Nye. She was a retired 25 year employee of Central Electric in Morrison, and was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and the Miriam Circle. She was a member of Sterling Chapter 354, Order of the Easter Star, Sterling Elks Club and Gem Club. 
Survivors include three sons, Doug Seelye and Ronald Nye, both of Morrison, Ill., and James Nye of Chadwick, Ill.; three sisters, Betty Payne of Lawrenceville, Ga., Iva Mae Layer and Patsy Hubbard, both of Stanford; two brothers, Glenn Bailey of Louisville and James Bailey of Stanford; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Nye.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morrison United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bill Obalil. Burial will be in Dutchtown Cemetery, Millegeville, Ill.

Survivors include two sons, James Pennington of Akron, Ohio, and Charles Pennington of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Edna Gibbons of Lexington; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Thomas, Paul and Robert Pennington; and a daughter, Ethel Pennington.

Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William O. and Anna Hale Rice. He was retired from Corning Glass Works, where he worked for 30 years. He was a deacon at McKinney Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran and a member of McKinney Masonic Lodge #631.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Charles Rice.

Born Oct. 29, 1936, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Hezzie and Roxie Hoskins Saylor. He was an Army veteran and retired from Western Bowling Alley, Cincinnati. He had attended Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

He was a retired owner of Swope Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a member and deacon of Calvary Hill Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Stanford High School, attended Centre College and was a graduate of Cincinnati Technology Center for Refrigeration. He was a member of Wilderness Road Amateur Radio Association and a Navy veteran of World War II.

STANFORD - Minor Teague, 87, of Redwood Drive, died Sunday at home.
Born Aug. 25, 1910, in Cook County, Tenn., he was a son of the late Dant and Elizabeth Hyslope Teague. He was a former director and secretary of Lincoln County Federal Savings and Loan Association and Lincoln County Farm Bureau Treasurer for many years. He taught in the Lincoln County School system for many years and was a member of McKinney Masonic Lodge 328 and Stanford Baptist Church where he was former treasurer.

HARRODSBURG - Laura Mae Goodpaster Tewmey, 91, East Factory Street, died today at Charleston Health Care Center, Danville.
Born July 31, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Elzie Thomas and Erma Bruce Young Goodpaster. She was a homemaker, member of Harrodsburg Christian Church and Mercer County Senior Citizens, and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was the widow of James Garnett Tewmey.

Goodpaster, Waynesburg; three sisters, Elizabeth Williams, Lexington, and Beatrice Reistenberg and Nora Barker, both of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at McClellan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

STANFORD - Cora Foley Garland Thomas, 97, of Lexington, formerly of Stanford, died Monday at Christian Healthcare Center, Lexington.
Born January 8, 1901, in Casey County, she was a daughter of James and Vinnie Martin Foley. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastland Church of God. She was the widow of Walter Garland and James Thomas.
Survivors include two daughters, Dartha Woodard and Elsie O'Neill, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosa Riley and Mary Ingram.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth Mills. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Halls Gap.

STANFORD - Georgia Banks Cordier Todd, 56, of Crab Orchard Road, died Sunday in Harrodsburg.
Born Nov. 1, 1940, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John Lee and Maxine Spencer Banks. She was a employee of Wal-Mart, Danville, and a member of Fairview baptist Church.
Survivors incldue her husband, LeRoy Todd; three sons, Bobby Cordier of Moreland, Ernie Cordier of Brodhead, and Joe Hampton of Stanford; two daughters, Barbard Cordier Payne of Stanford, Betty Cordier Lemonds of Harrodsburg; a brother, Leonard Banks of Stanford; two sisters, Bethel Harmon of Danville, Willa Lee Gilbert of Waynesburg; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Perry.

STANFORD - Services for Paulette ``Patsy'' Wade VanHook, 54, of Hustonville, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Geneva Community Church by the Rev. Ed Carman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
She died Tuesday at home.
Born Dec. 31, 1941, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Carvan and Beatrice Sears Wade, She was an employee of Super 8 Motel in Danville and a member of Geneva Community Church.

WAYNESBURG - Hallie Beckam Vaughan, 93, of Lexington, formerly of Waynesburg, died Friday at Darby Square Nursing Home.
Born June 20, 1904, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Taulbert and Lucy Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She was the widow of Glenn Vaughn.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Leon Vaughan of Mount Sterling and one daughter, Betty Campbell of Lexington.
Private services were conducted today by the Rev. Vola Brown at Fox Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs Cemetery.
There was no visitation.

She died Sunday at home after an illness.
Born Nov. 20, 1922, in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Cisiah Fields Fields. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is the widow of Chancey Wagenschutz.

STANFORD - Services for Ervin Kyle Wall, 36, of Memphis, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Greg Powell. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Baptist East Hospital there.
Born August 5, 1960, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Ervin D. and Marcella Dunaway Wall of Kings Mountain. He was an advertising and promotions assistant for Varsity Spirit Corporation, Memphis, Tenn., and a former teacher at Lincoln County High School and in Paris, Tenn. He was a member of University Church of Christ, Murray, and a graduate of Lincoln County High School and Murray State University.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Bertha Daugherty of Danville and Janet Perry of Walltown.

STANFORD - Luna Williams Walls, 75, of 8390 Green River Road, Hustonville, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1922, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Arid and Ada Salyers Williams. She was the widow of Herman Walls. She was a former employee of Stanford House Nursing Home, a homemaker and a member of Geneva Community Church.
Survivors include her stepmother, Bessie Williams of Angel Ridge; two sons, Gerald Wayne Walls and Ronald Keith Walls, both of McKinney; three daughters, Thelma Jean Frederick and Bonnie Rose Yocum, both of Stanford, and Vickie Dian Falconberry of Danville; a sister, Morine Willis of Batavia, Ohio; a stepsister, Bertha Vanhook of Angel Ridge; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Rick Naylor and Gary Story. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

STANFORD - Nellie Hogue Sims Walls, 84, of Hustonville died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Lincoln County , she was a daughter of the late Luther Martin and Nannie Gooch Hogue. She was a retired housekeeper with Fort Logan Hospital and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Oscar Sims and John Raymond Walls.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph W. Walls of Hustonville, Larry Dean Walls of Kings Mountain and James V. Sims of Stanford; a daughter, Brenda Sue Walls of Hustonville; four sisters, Della Terry and Mayme Peek, both of Kings Mountain, Ruby Roberts of Stanford and Tressie Shimmell of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Maybelle Warner, 74, of Ky. 1247, Waynesburg, died Wednesday at her residence.
Born April 27, 1924, in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late George Varney and Lyda Garwood Wolfe. She was a bookkeeper.
Survivors include four sons, Mark Warner of Lexington, Mike Warner of Louisville, Kenneth Warner of Virginia Beach, Va., and Anthony Warner of Shepherdsville; one brother, Chester Wolfe of Waynesburg; one sister, Frances Dawson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She died Monday at St. Elizabeth North Hospital, Covington. Born Sept. 20, 1909, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Henry H. and Susan Ann Singleton Caldwell. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and the widow of James Everett "Jim" Wilson. Survivors include a son, James Lewis Wilson, Somerset; four daughters, Annie Laurie Thompson of Hebron, Donna Jean French of Ludlow, Nancy Mullins of Villa Hills and Martha Sue Hogue of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Earl Henry Woods, 82, Stanford, died Sunday at Fort Logan Extended Care. 
Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Marshfield, Wisc., he was a son of the late Ephraim and Clara Woods. He was the widower of Josephine Plummer Woods. He retired from Caldwell Stone in Danville and worked for several years at T.Y. Shaw & Son Scrap Metal. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherril Disney of Stanford and Sharon Woods of Crab Orchard; one sister, Anna Bowden of Muncie, Ind.; one brother, James Woods of Danville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Revs. Steven Smith and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

WAYNESBURG - Jessie Norlena Woods, 66, of 122 Sharon Lane, Waynesburg, died Thursday in Waynesburg.
Born Jan. 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Ruth Moore Elliott. A graduate of Campbellsville College, she was a dietitian at Kentucky School for the Deaf and a member of New Life Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include two sons, John Elliott Woods of Waynesburg and Robert Shannon May of Indian Lake Estates, Fla.; a sister, Joan Hamilton of Waynesburg; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at New Life Church of God of Prophecy with Jack Carter officiating. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

YOUNG, Preston  Jr.
STANFORD - Preston O'Bannon Young Jr., 70, of Louisville, died Sunday at his home.
Born April 5, 1928, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Florence Dunaway and Preston O. Young Sr. He was a retired teacher and athletic director having coached at Stanford High, Shepherdsville High and was coach and athletic director of Western High School. He also was a Korean War veteran and a member of Highview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hawkins Young; three daughters, Susan Muench of Florence, S.C., Janet Trombley of Greenville, S.C., and Teresa Ohlmann of Louisville; a brother, Coleman L. Young of Spartanburg, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by Kenneth Holden. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell-Saufley Post 18, American Legion.
