STANFORD, Francis Marie Allen, 68, of Darst Street, Stanford, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Born February 23, 1935 in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. Allen and Smarie Ann Kidd. She was a homemaker and a member of Jesus Church House of Prayer. Survivors include: two sons, Charles Reagan of Harrodsburg and Larry Allen Sr. of Stanford; five brothers, Joe and Raymond Kidd, both of Stanford, James Kidd of Waynesburg, Sherman Jones of La Grange and Bobby Jones of Georgetown; four sisters, Rosie Swope of Lancaster, Dalphine Cherry of Charlestown, Ind., Donna Blanton of Crab Orchard, and Faye Kidd of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step grandchildren. Services were conducted Friday, July 4, at Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, by Donnie Irvin. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers were Rodney, Anthony and Patrick Reagan, Joey and Mike Cherry, and Jesse Denney. Born Feb. 5, 1908, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William and Effie Bastin Todd. She was a farmer and homemaker. Survivors include a son, Ben Belcher, Berea; two daughters, Cynthia Belcher Harrison, Louisville, and Edna Faye Belcher Howell, Somerset; two brothers, Lois Todd, Waynesburg, and Lester Todd, Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Whitt Belcher; her parents; a son, Whitt Belcher Jr.; a daughter, Essie Lee Belcher Jackson; five brothers, Bernie, Stanley, Leslie, Leonard and Homer Todd; and three sisters, Ethel Bowman, Edna Todd Belcher and Marie Todd Wren.

He had attended Mount Zion Church of Christ. He was a former employee of the maintenance division of pressure washers. STANFORD - Lincoln County civic and political leader Leonard B. Boone, 95, of Danville Avenue died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Boone served as Lincoln County judge from 1966 to 1970. He also served three terms on the Stanford City Council and served on the Stanford School Board.Stanford attorney Cabell D. Francis Sr., recalled that Boone performed the duties of county judge very well. At the time he was county judge the position involved carrying out duties similar to those now handled by district judges. ``Mr. Boone was a fine Christian man. When he was judge he decided cases according to what was right and wrong. He didn't fudge one bit. He also did a lot to improve the roads in the county and he kept peace on the fiscal court,'' said Francis.Retired district judge Marvin Cornett echoed Francis' assessment of Boone.``He was always a fair man and very pleasant to work with,'' Cornett said. ``In those days he tried misdemeanors and had nearly the same duties as the district judge has now.''Born Nov. 22, 1901, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late James H. and Margaret Bastin Boone. He had been co-owner of Boone and Cave Clothing Store. He was a member of Stanford Christian Church where he had served as elder, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School superintendent.He was a member of County Judges Association of Kentucky and was district president. While on Stanford City Council, he helped to promote a new city lake and water system. He also was instrumental in the organization of the Stanford-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and served a term as vice president. He was a mason, past member of Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 60, F&AM, and member and past president of the Rotary Club.He was the widower of Christine Brown Boone.Survivors include two daughters, Sara Lynn Cave of Stanford, and Teresa Balough of Old Lyme, Conn.; a sister, Bess B. Gooch of Louisville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by the Rev. Tim Boschen.

At the time of her death she held the longest membership of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. He died Wednesday, 19, in the Hubble section in Lincoln Co. of a heart attack while cutting tobacco. He was a general laborer and son of the late Elmer and Zella James Denny. CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Lonnie Gaither, 75, of Finns Lane, will be 8 p.m. today at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Ottenheim, by the Rev. Mike Weglicki. He died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Louisville, he was a son of the late Lonnie and Tabitha Skaggs Gaither. He was a Navy Seabee having served during World War II. He retired after over 50 years as a sheet metal journeyman. He was also head international business agent, organizer, representative and chief assistant under the Sheet Metal Journeyman union president. Near the end of his career he was a special project consultant for the United States Nuclear Power Plant System, and for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Rosella Naylor Gaither; a daughter, Karen S. Orwick of Louisville; a stepdaughter, Theresa Fletcher of Silver Springs, Md.; three sons, John L. Gaither, Mark J. Gaither and Daniel P. Gaither, all of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara M. McGiveney.Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church. Also, a visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, Louisville. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery by the Rev. Casper Volpert.

He was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church, Kentucky Beef Cattle Association, past treasurer Lincoln County Livestock Improvement Association, a recipient of the Clay Davis Jr. Award for outstanding contribution to the Lincoln County Feeder Association in 1981. He was the widower of Jessie Lawson Goggin. Survivors include a brother, Robert Goggin, Lexington; one sister, Mrs. James (Margaret) Ashley, Crestview, FL.; two uncles, Roger Morris, Burlington, NC., and E. C. Survivors include his wife, Grace Sears Goode, two sons, Ronald Goode of Hustonville and James Goode, both of Shelbyville; two daughters, Lucille Vanoy of Hustonville and Pauline Hopkins of Lancaster; a daughter-in-law who was his caregiver, Barbara Goode; two sisters, Ethel Bunch of Springfield and Edith Flint of Louisville; a brother, Hubert Goode of Taylorsville; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born May 5, 1942 to the late William Bradford and Georgia Smith harness. He had been employed by Gulf State Newspaper Co., Nicholasville for 18 years and had been a shipping and receiving supervisor there. He served as Crab Orchard’s mayor for several years and also as chief of police. He was a founder and president of the East End Ambulance Service, a member of Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge #636, a member of Oleika Temple, and a member of the University Heights Church of Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Smith Harness; a son, Michel Donovan Harness, Nicholasville; two daughters, Kriste Dawn Harness and Kathy Ranae Harness, both of Nicholasville; two brothers, David Eugene Harness and Richard Keith Harness, both of Crab Orchard; three sisters, Anna L. Ledford of Cincinnati, Nona Griffin of Crab Orchard and Arlene H. Foster of Somerset. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home by Gerald Marc Nations and Thaddus Eubank. Ruth Ann Hundley, 60; of Carter School Road, Stanford, died Wednesday at her home. Born July 25, 1942, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Lula Maddox May of Danville the late Frank Wright. She was a retired employee of Matthew's Conveyer and a member of Junction City First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ever Ready Sunday School Class. She was a United Way volunteer and a member of the Gardening Club at Matthew's Conveyer. She was the widow of Richard Hundley. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Southerland of Stanford; three sons, Vance Curtsinger of Danville, Kelly Curtsinger of Nicholasville and Kim Curtsinger of Junction City; four sisters, Sue Gammon, Cookie Burger and Belle Mattingly, all of Danville, and Jean Burge of Niniveh, Ind.; six grandchildren; and her former husband, Hezekiah Curtsinger of Morehead. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Ernest Martin. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Mattingly, Gary and Kenny Rothwell, Troy Gammon, Cecil Burger and Jerry Gammon Jr. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ever Ready Sunday School Class.

STANFORD - Bertha Emily Siler Hunt, 92, of Hodgenville, formerly of Waynesburg, died Thursday at Helmwood Healthcare Center, Elizabethtown.Born Oct. 28, 1905, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Eldon B. and Nellie Jane Woods Siler and the widow of Willie Hunt. She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ.Survivors include a daughter, Mable C. Woodall of Hodgenville; two brothers, Henry Siler of Waynesburg and Jasper Siler of Middletown, Ohio; a sister, Florence Dye of Marion, Ohio; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.Services will be 3 p.m. today at Pine Grove Church of Christ by Rick Estes. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
