STANFORD - Services for Addie M. Adams, 87, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stanford Baptist Church by the Rev. Max Hester. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. She died Friday at her residence. Born March 19, 1916, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Lear Tankersley. She was the widow of Milton Adams.

She was a farmer and landowner for more than 50 years, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, J.W. "Dub" Adams, and a grandson, Donald K. Adams. Survivors include a son, Donald Adams of Stanford; a daughter, Emma Kidd of Somerset; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Bobby, Milton and Robbie Adams, Bob Marshbanks and Darrell Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be George O. Spoonamore, Mike Bertram, Ed Land and Jimmy Estridge. HARRODSBURG - Arnold Gene Adams, 46, of National Park, NJ., died Friday in National Park. Born Jan. 9, 1958, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Andy and Gracie Harrison Adams. Kenneth Adams, 62, of Harding Street, died Friday at his home.

Born Sept. 6, 1939, in Elmwood, Ohio, he was the son of Mae Virginia

Fredrick Adams of Danville and the late Carl Adams. He was a self-employed

Tree trimmer and had formerly worked on high power lines in Indiana. He

was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

She was the widow of Charles E. Sutton.

Mr. John Samuel Baughman, Jr., of 314 Danville Ave., Stanford, died Monday, September 29, 1997 at his residence.

Born April 9, 1908 in Stanford, he was the son of the late John S. and Lena Bruce Baughman.

He was co-owner and operator of Baughman Mill in Stanford and a member of the Stanford Christian Church.

He was a member of the Stanford Rotary Club, a 1931 graduate of UK, member and former president of KA fraternity, Delta Sigmi Pi Business Fraternity, a former Stanford City Council member, Production Credit representative and Board of Directors during 1930.

He was former president of the Kentucky Millers Association, former president of Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, former president of Lincoln County Historical Society, past president of Dix River Board of Realtors, former president of Stanford Christian Church Board, and a former member of the Kentucky Advisory Council of Small Business Admin.

Survivors include; two sons, Dr. John Baughman III, Harrodsburg, Harry Hill Baughman, Louisville; one daughter, Katherine (Kitty) Bruce Baughman Brower, Stanford, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Katherine (Dodie) Hill, who died October 23, 1995; one brother, Robert T. Baughman, one sister, Eddy Bruce Ryan.

Funeral Services for Mr. Baughman were held Wednesday, October 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, with Dr. James C. Baughman officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

Pallbearers were John S. Baughman IV, Tom, Bob, Bill and Hill Baughman and Courtney Brower.

He died Tuesday in Moreland.

Born January 1, 1928 in Stanford, he was the son of the late Matthew Cecil and Ida Florence Simpson Coffman.

He was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God.

Born Nov. 28, 1920, in Junction City, he was a son of the late Everett J. and Anna Adkins Kidd.
He was a retired foreman for Norfolk Southern Railroad Corp. and had served in the Army during World War II as a machine gunner first class. He was the recipient of two bronze stars and had served in the Asiatic Theater.
He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Retired Railway and Veterans Club, Junction City Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Boyle Post 46. He also had donated a copy of the peace treaty to the Admiral Nimix Museum in Fredricksburg, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Abbott Kidd; four stepdaughters, Sarah Gover Wiltsee of Cheshire, Conn., Jean Gover Mudd of Louisville, JoAnn Gover Rankin of Danville, and Patricia Shakelford of Danville; a brother, Everett Kidd Jr. of Danville; 11 stepgrandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mr. Robert Pitts Sampson Sr., 101, of 293 King Ave., South Lebanon, OH, died Saturday, January 11, 1997 in South Lebanon.

Born June 20, 1895 in Lincoln County, he was the son of Napoleon Waldon Sampson and Jenny Lowrey Overstreet Sampson.

He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Union Christian Church in Lincoln County.

He was a WWI veteran and a member of the DAV for 50 years.

Survivors include: one son, Robert Pitts Sampson Jr., South Lebanon, OH; five daughters, Pauline Holloway, South Lebanon, OH, Katie Sallee, Lexington, Ann Baugh, Versailles, Dortha Lawson and Eileen Lester, both of Harrodsburg, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great great grandchild.

Services for Mr. Sampson were held Tuesday, January 14, 1997 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Pallbearers were Howard and Glenn Holloway, Michael and Jeffrey Wells, Charlie Lawson and Danny Field. Mr. Sampson's six children were honorary pallbearers.

CRAB ORCHARD - Graveside services for May Margaret Fish Settle, 85, of Holly Lane,  will be 1 p.m. 
Saturday Jan 23, 1999 at Crab Orchard Cemetery by the Rev. John Lowrey.  She died Wednesday at 
Rockcastle County Hospital.  Born Feb. 24, 1913, in Crab Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Ivan 
W. and Maggie Traylor Fish.  She was a retired Lincoln County teacher. She was a graduate of Crab 
Orchard High School and received  her bachelor of arts degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

She completed post graduate work at University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University and Morehead 
State University.  She was a former director of the Crab Orchard Glee Club and was a member of  Kentucky 
Retired Teachers Association, Crab Orchard High School Alumni Association,  the Logan-Whitley Chapter of 
Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of Crab Orchard Christian Church where she served 
as Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist.   She also taught piano.  

Survivors include her husband, Ray W. Settle; and nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers include Jerry Shelton, James 
Manuel, Thomas Butt and Paul Dillion.  Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Messer and Stanley Turpin.  There will be 
no visitation.  McKnight-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bessie Shannon, 87, of 300 Mill Street, Burgin, died Friday, April 4, 1997 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Born February 25, 1910 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Nellie Shearer Carrier. She was the widow of William M. Shannon.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Methodist Church.

Survivors, include: one son, G. T. Shannon, Burgin; one daughter, Patricia Curtis, Lancaster; on brother, Robert Carrier, Mercer County; one sister, Gertie McKinney, Mercer County; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by twin sons, Bennie and Linnie Shannon.

Services for Mrs. Shannon were held Sunday, April 6 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Shannon officiating. Burial was in Burgin Memorial Gardens.

Born Nov. 1, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James Fred and Minta Reynold Singleton. He was the widower of Imogene Spencer Singleton. He was an engineer, surveyor and road inspector, a veteran of World War II and member of Double Springs Baptist Church.

Born July 31, 1905 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Elvie Thomas and Erma Young Goodpaster.
She was the widow of James Garnett Tewmey. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and the
Mercer County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include: one son, James Lloyd Tewmey of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Irma Katherine Case, North Miami, FL, Bessie Rhea Taliaferro, Homosassa, FL, Daisy Frances Freeman, Cedar Key, FL; one brother, E. She was a former housekeeper at Stanford House and cook at Charleston Health Care. She was Pentecostal in faith. Survivors include seven sons, David Payton, Donald Payton, Wayne Payton, Rannie Payton, Bobby Payton and Gary Payton, all of Stanford, and William Payton of Burgin; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Todd and Stella (Measle) Todd. She was a homemaker, retired Rose's employee and member of Estesburg
Church of Christ in Eubank.
