LANCASTER - Services for Timothy Lee Adams, 45, of Perkins Lane, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Wendell Johnson. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Born March 20, 1961, in Ohio, he was a son of Helen Petrey Barnett of Crab Orchard and the late Lonnie Adams. He was a farmer and employee of Feldman Lumber Co. He was a member of Lancaster First Assembly of God.

Other survivors include his wife, Ina Luttrell Adams; two daughters, Crystal Grimes and Lora Davis, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Vickie Blanton of Crab Orchard and Becky Stamper of Nicholasville; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randy May, Jerry Davis, Earl Gibson, Paul White, Randall Lainhart, D.J. Lirett, Jim Belcher and Jerry Morgan. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday.

MORELAND - Services for George Lewis Benedict, 75, of Stanford, formerly of the Maxey Valley community, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 13, 1930, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Steve and Bessie Mae Raney Benedict. He is a retired farmer and a member of Ellisburg Baptist Church. He was the widower of Beatrice Crowe Benedict. (see File # 15)

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllisha Benedict Stuckey of Hustonville; two sons, Freddy Benedict of Hustonville and David Benedict of Danville; a brother, Stanley Benedict of Mitchellsburg; a sister, Audey Maddox of Moreland; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Watts, Freddie L. Benedict Jr., Christopher L. Benedict, and Larry, Jeffrey and Kenny Griffin. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

MORELAND - Services for Otis L. Benedict, 81, of Stanford, will be 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Tony Stephens. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Boyle Post 46.

Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Moreland, he was the son of the late Wallace and Ida Webster Benedict. He was retired and a member of the Christian church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, Third Battalion 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the 82nd Airborne Division. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon, Purple Heart and Victory Medal. He was the widower of Sadie Maddox Benedict.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Benedict of Lexington and Paul Benedict of Stanford; two brothers, Arnold Benedict of Dayton, Ohio, and Ronnie Benedict of Johnson City, Tenn.; two sisters, Christine Benedict of Coral Gables, Fla., and Ada Howitt of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Benedict.

Pallbearers will be Michael and Paul Benedict, Ronnie and Randy Maddox, Joe Taylor and Tina Pike. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.

STANFORD - Joint services for Bobbie Sue Demrow Benton, 50, and her husband, Jesse Clark Benton, 48, Pin Oak Drive, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Hill Baptist Church with Wayne Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Aug. 21, 1956, in Janesville, Wisc., Mrs. Benton was the daughter of the late Jake and Mary B. Peek Demrow. She graduated in 1974 from Lincoln County High School and was employed by Tinder Kraus Tinder in Danville and was a member of Fort Logan Hospital Auxiliary, Lincoln County Junior Miss committee and Fort Logan Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Benton of Stanford; one son, Richard Benton of Reston, Va.; two brothers, Bill Demrow of Waynesburg and Amil "Butch" Demrow of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two sisters, Betty Jo Grimes and Becky Spears, both of Stanford.

Born June 8, 1958, in Somerset, Jesse Clark Benton was the son of Earl and Rebexie Caudill Benton of Waynesburg. He is a 1976 Lincoln County High graduate and a 1986 graduate of University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He attended Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif., and was a member of Fort Logan Church of Christ.

He was a retired major in the Marine Corps, where he earned the Navy Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Mast, Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4th Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd Award) and National Defense Service Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Survivors include, one daughter, Mary Benton of Stanford; one son, Richard Benton of Reston, Va.; one brother, Marvin Benton of Middletown, Ohio; and two sisters, Kathy Engle of Waynesburg and Sharon Bingham of Indianapolis.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Benton will be Jimmy Maloy, Curt Demrow, Patrick Knight, Dickie Cooper, Keith Cooper and Andrew Demrow.

Pallbearers for Mr. Benton will be Bo Gander, Chase Gander, Marvin and Bobby Benton, and Jim Bingham and Brandon Sanders.

STANFORD - Clark Benton and his wife, Bobbie, were flying to Aruba to celebrate her 50th birthday when they died aboard Comair Flight 5191 Sunday at Blue Grass Airport. The couple lived in Stanford.

Clark Benton, 48, had given his wife a surprise birthday party and two tickets for a week-long vacation in Aruba.

"She'd always said, 'Before I die, I want to go to the Caribbean," said Lois Denham, a licensed optician at Tinder-Krauss-Tinder where Bobbie Benton worked. "She was such a sweet person, and she was so excited about this trip." The Bentons were on the Lexington flight that was headed to Atlanta.

"Going to the Caribbean was one thing Bobbie had always wanted to do," said Sue Cooper, a family friend. The tickets were "just a wonderful gesture on (Clark's) part." Clark Benton worked at General Dynamics, a military company headquartered in Falls Church, Va., and he was retired from the U.S. Marines. They were active members of Fort Logan Church of Christ.

Bobbie Benton's brother is Bill Demrow, the Lincoln County coroner. The couple had a daughter, Mary Benton, and a son, Richard Benton. Clark Benton's parents are Earl and Rebexie Benton of Waynesburg.

"They are one of the best families in our community," said David Gambrel, Lincoln County property valuation administrator and a local minister. Bobbie Benton taught Bible classes for children, and Clark Benton taught adult Bible classes and occasionally preached at Fort Logan Church of Christ. Church members were in shock at Sunday services, said Wayne Galloway, pastor at the church. "We were overwhelmed with grief ... we recognized the faith Bobbie and Clark had, and we talked about that's why we're here ... to make preparations to be with the Lord and to follow the example and faith (the Bentons) set for us," Galloway said.

STANFORD - Services for John Edwin Blakemore, 45, of Lancaster Road, were Tuesday at Freedom Baptist Church by Stewart Dawson.

Born Dec. 1, 1958, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late J.D. and Nell Lear.

He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, attended Lincoln View Center and formerly attended Flatwoods Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Ricky White, Johnny Williams, Mark Brown, Terry Holt, Ronald Penman and Ceryil Green.

Honorary pallbearers are Dorothy Green, Judy Patterson, Linda Penman, Tonya Geisendorfer, Becky Brogle and Carla Robbins.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born July 25, 1915 to the late Lloyd Brock and Nora Lefevers Brock. She was a housewife, loving mother and grandmother, of the Holiness faith, and widow of Carsel Blanton. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, sewing and cooking.

She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jerry Lee Cash, Bryan David Blanton, and Melissa Jolene Sebree Kellar; five brothers, John, Ben, Denver, Ernest, and Walter Brock; five sisters, Roxie Bowling, Vina Benge, Virgie Spoonamore, and infant sisters, Shirley and Myrtle Brock; and two great, great grandchildren.

Survivors include children, Mildred Hunt and Carcel Junior (Linda) Blanton both of Mt. Vernon, Christeen (Walter) Cash, Paul Edward Blanton, Viola Sebree, David Ray (Goldie) Blanton, and Earl Phillip (Opal) Blanton all of Brodhead, Lena (Simon) Griffin of Dayton, OH., Geneva (Bill) Hall of Ripley, OH., and Irene Watson of Frankfort; two sisters, Matlida “Tee” Profitt of Reading, OH., and Opal Parrish of Lockland, OH.;28 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 23 at the Marvin E. Owens Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Vernon with Audie Faulkner and Silvester Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Negro Creek Cemetery.

LANCASTER - Services for Mel Bonner, 68, of Danville Road, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lancaster Christian Church by the Revs. Joe Hood, Bryce McCulley and Bill Hawkins.

He died Monday at his home. Born Feb. 10, 1935, in Millageville, Ga., he was the son of Melton M. and Myra Spivey Bonner. He earned a doctorate in divinity, was a minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 50 years and a member of Lancaster Christian Church. He was retired from the Comprehensive Care Center Mental Health Board, after serving for 23 years.

He was a member of the Critical Care Incident Stress Management Team and Kentucky Community Crisis Response Team. He also was a member of Garrard County Ministerial Association and past president of the Rotary Club. He was a member of Garrard County Chamber of Commerce, past president of Garrard County Democratic Party and served as chaplain of Garrard County District 1 Fire Department and sub-chaplain of Camp Dick Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Correll Bonner; a daughter, Myra Bonner of Lake Lure, N.C.; a stepdaughter, DeVera McMullen of Lancaster; a stepson, Charles McMullen of Georgetown; five stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be members of Garrard County District 1 Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers are elders of Lancaster Christian Church and members of Camp Dick Fire Department. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may go to Lancaster Christian Church, Heritage Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

MORELAND - Austin Dallas Boswell, infant son of Anthony L. and Regina A. McGirr Boswell of Junction City, was stillborn May 5 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.

STANFORD - Services for Minor Ann Herndon Cash, 104, of Danville, formerly of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stanford Christian Church by the Revs. Jim Baughman and Richard Reed. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Nov. 4, 1901, she was the daughter of the late Henry Minor and Jessie Garner Herndon. She was a teacher for 60 years, having taught at Stanford High School, a member of Stanford Christian Church and a former member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the widow of John Franklin Cash.

Survivors include two nephews, Frank Bicknel of North Carolina, and Jack Herndon of Richmond; and a niece, Betsy Peavyhouse of Chicago.

Pallbearers will be Josh Powell, Short Saufley, Johnny Baughman, Gabe Gabriel, Zack Saufley, Rich Grimes, Sonny Metker and Bob Noe.

Honorary pallbearers are officials of First Christian Church, Jo Ann Embry, James Hatfield, Rab Hagin, Nancy Gower, George Saufley, Cabel Frances II, Catherine Wilson and David Pettus.

CASSELMAN, Richard Norman II
Services for Richard Norman ``Dickie'' Casselman II, 26, of Louisville, formerly of Danville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Mathis. Burial will be in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Rockcastle County.
He died Sunday in Louisville of an apparent gunshot wound. Additional information was unavailable today from the Jefferson County coroner's office.
Born March 22, 1972, in Lancaster, he was a son of Tony and Pernie Hopkins Shearer of Stanford, and the late Richard N. Casselman. He was a maintenance worker, a 1991 graduate of Danville High School, was state wrestling champion in 1991, and a member of First Baptist Church, Danville. He also served in the Navy.
Other survivors include his wife, Jennifer Adkinson Casselman of Nonesuch; a daughter, Madeline Casselman of Nonesuch; grandmother, Lola Hopkins of Crab Orchard; a brother, Walter Hopkins of Stanford; a stepbrother Tony Shearer II of Danville; a stepsister, Tracy Terry of Danville; and companion, Kristie Thompson of Louisville.

CRAB ORCHARD - Tonya L. Cota, 36, of Douglas, Mass., died Monday at University of Massachusetts Hospital.

Born Dec. 18, 1967, in Fort Knox, she was the daughter of James and Brenda Hendrickson Cota of Douglas.

Other survivors include a brother, Jimmy Cota of Douglas; and grandfather, Charles F. Hendrickson of Stanford.

CRAB ORCHARD - Jessie M. Crabtree, 91, of Charleston Health Care Center, formerly of Stanford, died Monday in Danville.
Born June 19, 1907, in Rockcastle County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Molly Trexel Davidson. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God. She was the widow of Albert Crabtree.
Survivors include two sons, Earl ``Red'' and Oscar Reynolds, both of Stanford; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Curt Herrington. Burial will be in Belleview Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - The Rev. Willie Day, 87, of Crawford Lane, Stanford, died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Feb. 22, 1919, in Yeaddiss, he was the son of the late Henry and Lucy Browning Day. He was pastor and founder of Dix River Church of Christ. He also was a retired coal miner for Consolidated Coal Co., and an Army veteran of World War II, having attained the rank of corporal. He was given the European-African-Middle Eastern campaign medal with two Bronze Stars, the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hendrix Day; four sons, Michael Day of Tazwell, Tenn., Harold Gross and Stanley Day, both of Stanford, and Timothy A. Day of Lancaster; a daughter, Doris Jean Brummett of Stanford; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dix River Church of Christ by Virgil Horseman and Louie Hammonds. Burial will be in Dix River Church of Christ Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Lena Alice Abbott Denney, 79, of Star Avenue, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Feb. 24, 1924, in Monticello, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rona Decker Abbott. She was a member of World Harvest Revival Center in Danville, a senior citizens companion and a former employee of Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Carl Denny.

Survivors include five daughters, Betty Pearl of Mount Vernon, Pauline Thompson of Lancaster, Loretta Gilliam of Taswell, Tenn., and Fran Napier and Juanita Harris, both of Danville; five sons, Billy Denny, Bobby Denny and Carlos Denny, all of Crab Orchard, Carl Denney of Cleves, Ohio, and Dan Denney of Stanford; a brother, Andrew Abbott of Monticello; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree and Grant Bowman. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday.

STANFORD - Services for Lillian Rowland Greer, 73, of Stanford, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the

Born April 27, 1933, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Lilly Yocum Rowland. She was a private
caregiver and worked at Palm Beach Co. for 10 years. She was a member of Redemption Road Pentecostal Church and
the widow of Carl W. Greer.

Survivors include a son, Lester Greer of Stanford; three daughters, Diane Wilson of Lexington, Barbara Willoughby and
Marilyn Rice, both of Stanford; a sister, Emma Ruth Dishon of Stanford; a brother, J.B. Rowland of Crestwood;
11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Greer.

Born May 4, 1964, in Harlan, she was a daughter of the late Alvius and Geneva Middleton Caudill. She was a homemaker.

Born Sept. 20, 1958, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Tolbert and Mary Griffin Pemberton. She had worked for Dollar General Store and was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Berry and Nicole Hayes, both of Temple, Ga.; two sisters, Molly Proctor of Danville and Lisa Joseph of Winchester; two brothers, Anthony Pemberton of Somerset and Roger Pemberton of Georgetown; and six grandchildren.

MORELAND - Ervin Griffin, 80, of Maxey Valley, died Tuesday at Charleston Health Care, Danville.

Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Finley and Lottie Maddox Griffin. He was a retired farmer and member of Maxey Valley Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Griffin of Maxey Valley; a stepdaughter, Judy Southerland of Moreland; two stepsons, Jerry Dwayne Overstreet of Liberty and Charles Overstreet of Boyle County; two sisters, Laura Crowe and Helen Watts, both of Maxey Valley; a brother, Franklin Griffin of Maxey Valley; two stepbrothers, Tommy and Virgil Griffin, both of Maxey Valley; four stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

STANFORD - David J. Harper, 47, of Stanford, died Friday at Indian Path Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.

Born May 28, 1958, in Pontiac, Mich., he was the son of David J. Harper and the late Freida Ann Saylor Harper. He was self-employed.

Survivors include a son, Nicholas John Harper of Kingsport; a stepson, Daniel Cameron of Stanford; and a grandmother, Evey Saylor of Stanford.

Andrew Hazlett, II, age 37, of Maxwell, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield. Born on April 29, 1966 in Greenfield, he was the son of Andrew Hazlett I and Carole (Mueller) Turnell. He attended Greenfield Central High School. Mr. Hazlett was a drywall finisher for Union Local #47.

He is survived by his mother, Carole Turnell, of Maxwell; two daughters, Misty Hazlett, of Maxwell, and Chelce Hazlett, of Indianapolis; his brother, Rick K. Hazlett, of McCordsville; his grandmother, Katie Hazlett, of Stanford, Kentucky; two nieces; and one nephew. Preceding him in death was his father, Andrew Hazlett, I. Born April 22, 1942, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Edith Westerfield Henson of Stanford and the late McClellan "Mac" Henson. He was a masonry contractor with Henson and Yankey Masonry and a graduate of Hustonville High School. He was a visual artist, painting portraits and watercolors, a two-time bowhunting champion of Kentucky Association of Archers, and a taxidermist.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Wayne Henson Jr. and Mark W. Henson, both of Danville; two brothers, Ben Henson of Danville and Johnny Henson of Stanford; and seven grandchildren.

Born May 18, 1942, in Dublin Ga., he was the son of William J. Hightower Sr. of Dallas, Texas, and the late Evelyn Fordham Hightower. He was an executive with General Motors Co. and a Methodist.

CRAB ORCHARD - Dallie Epperhart Holmes, 94, of U.S. 150 East, died Thursday at Nim Henson Geriatric Center in Jackson.

Born March 19, 1909, in Keavy, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Davis Epperhart. She was a homemaker, a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and the widow of Sam Holmes Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Hayes of Jackson and Shirley Smith of Cincinnati; two sons, John R. Holmes and Gary C. Holmes, both of Cincinnati; and three sisters, Ottie McKeehan, Martha Smith and Rita Grider, all of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Holmes.

Born June 25, 1943, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Alice Marie Wilson Blanton of South Fork and the late Cleo Houp. Born Feb. 17, 1956, in Stanford, he was a son of Mae Begley Robinson of Salyersville and the late Charlie Humphrey. He was a member of Lighthouse House of Prayer.

Born Jan. 22, 1921, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William and Myrtle Sims Jenkins. He was a member of Butler Baptist Church and Pendleton County Senior Citizens.

MORELAND - Norma Jean Carpenter Kidd, 71, of Stanford, died Wednesday at Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Aug. 20, 1935, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late J.B. Carpenter and Bessie Brown Estes. She was the stepdaughter of the late James Estes. She was a member of the Pentecostal church and had worked as a certified medication technician at Stanford House and as a certified nursing assistant at Fort Logan Hospital and Charleston Health Care Center. She also has worked at Waynesburg Nursing Home and at the Stanford Drive-in. She was the widow of Joseph J. Kidd.

Survivors include two sons, Steve W. Kidd of Gravel Switch and James F. Kidd of Waynesburg; a daughter, Dottie J. Mobley of McKinney; a sister, Geraldine McKinney of Stanford; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Born in Hustonville, (Lincoln, Co.) he was a son of the late John and Maude Moore Lynn. He graduated from Centre College with a degree in languages and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After retiring as a supervisor at McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis, he worked for the Kentucky State Highway Department. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Versailles.

Born April 23, 1933, in Kidds Store, Casey County, he was the son of the late James H. and Lizzie Jeter Smiley. He was a professor of agronomy and plant pathology at University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.

Considered a tobacco expert, he did extensive research, extension work and teaching of tobacco production, publishing several articles in professional journals and many extension publications at the university.

He was the author of a tobacco article published in the 1977 World Book Encyclopedia.

He was selected for the R.J. Reynolds Professorship award, which he held for several years.

Smiley earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at UK and his doctorate at University of Wisconsin at Madison.

He was a member of Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington where he served as a deacon and belonged to various professional, honorary and fraternal organizations. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Opal B. Smiley; a son, David Jones Smileyof Lexington; and a brother, John F. Smiley of Somerset.

SCIENCE HILL - Ernest Ray Snow, 66, of Hustonville, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born May 27, 1940, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Ernest J. and Freida Pullum Snow.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Hodge Snow; four sons, Donald and Jeff Snow, both of Liberty, Chris Snow of Lincoln County and Justin Snow of Waynesburg; six daughters, Rena Barber of Stanford, Cathy Propes of Adair County, Karen Durham and Sue A. Born Aug. 20, 1932, in Casey County, he was a son of Thomas A. and Agnes Mullins Spaulding. He was a retired director of the Davies-McLean Baptist Association, a graduate of Hustonville High School and served in the Armed Forces. He was pastor of several Baptist churches in Kentucky and served as a missionary in the Bahama Islands, Trinidad, Scotland and Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bogie Spaulding; two sons, Timothy Spaulding of Louisville and Micah Spaulding of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Linda Roberts of Lewisport; a brother, Thomas Spaulding Jr., of Hustonville; and three grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Services for Sherman Stempfly, 64, of Lynnwood Drive, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. David Young. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Born Aug. 3, 1942, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Delbert and Thelma Smith Stempfly. He was a retired Marine, active in Garrard County Youth Football and a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Lincoln County.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Shearer Stempfly; a sister, Barbara Pelissier of Fort Valley, Ga.; five nephews; and two nieces.

Pallbearers will be Johnny and Michael Shearer, Bryan and Scott Bishop, Jeff Hale, Tammy Robinson, Debbie Fightmaster and John D. Friend.

STANFORD - Services for Everett "Derl" Todd, 69, of Shanks Lane, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home by the Revs. Virgil Horseman and Gary Story. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion

Born Sept. 16, 1937, in Pulaski County, he was a son of the late Charlie L. and Lola M. McKinney Todd. He was a farmer, a member of the Stanford Church of Christ and American Legion Post 345, and an Army veteran. He was the widower of Zula Faith Black Todd.

Survivors include a son, Jeff Todd of Stanford; a daughter, Kim Walker of Kingman, Ariz., three sisters, Louise Nicely of Brodhead, Glenda Miller of Mount Vernon and Fern Larkin of Eubank; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Pittman, Gary Nicely, Jeff Lasure, Frankie Harris, Jackie Miller and Billy Mobley. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today.

Russell E. Wall, 78, of Rexville, passed away Friday, Oct 15, 2004 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born at McKinney in Lincoln County, KY on September 8, 1926 the son of Noel and Viola Peek Wall.

He was married to Mable Martin on November 9, 1951 and she survives. Other survivors include one son, David Wall and wife Bonnie of Milan, two daughters, Robin Wall of Versailles, Christy Speer and husband Rev. Casey Speer of Columbus, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two brothers, Albert Wall of Frankfort, KY and Charles Wall of Hayden, two sisters, Carrie Sheene of Hustonville, KY and Joyce Austin of Palm Springs, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ollie, Bobby, Jerry and Marvin Wall.

Mr. Wall was a Navy veteran of WWII and was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church. He retired in 1984 after 44 years as an engineer with the Southern Railway and was also a commercial mink rancher. Graveside services were held Monday, October 18, 11 a.m. at the Tanglewood Cemetery near Versailles with Rev. Casey Speer officiating. Memorials may go to the Child Evangelism or Crown Financial Ministries in care of the funeral home. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of the arrangements.

Born Jan. 15, 1926, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late William Bud and Esther E. Wilson Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Leslie Watson; three sons, Hershel Watson and Larry Watson, both of Crab Orchard, and Daryl Watson of Nicholasville; a brother, Clarence Brown of Goshen, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Samuel Orbin Watson, 81, of Somerset, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Thursday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late William E. and Quintella Smith Watson. He was a retired grounds foreman for Spring Grove Cemetery in Colrain, Ohio. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II and a member of Mount Zion Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Travis Watson of Crab Orchard; James Watson of Danville; a brother, Leslie Watson of Crab Orchard; a sister, Mae Brown of High Point, Ohio; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in dearth by a son, Daryl Watson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Burkhart.

STANFORD - Graveside services for Willis Gaines Whitaker, 96, of Stanford, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville.

Born Sept. 29, 1907, in Norton, Va., he was the son of the late Rufus S. Whitaker and Bess Cantrell. He was a retired coal mine heavy equipment repairman and the widower of Victoria Minniard Whitaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Bess Wilson of Stanford; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. There is no visitation. Fox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Milton P. and Mary Alice ``Mazie'' Singleton Shadoan. She was a retired teacher and a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, Louisville, and Baptist Hospital East Auxiliary. She was also a member of local, state and national associations. Survivors include several cousins.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Coleman Young, 75, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday at his home.

Born May 9, 1930, in Stanford, he was a son of the late Preston and Florence Young. He was an outstanding athlete and served in the Air Force in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in business. He was owner of One Hour Martinizing, Quick-As-A Wink Cleaners and Mountasia Fun Parks in Spartanburg. He was a former member of Park Hills Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and with youth athletic activities for many years. He most recently was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and a member of the Royal Sunday School Class. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann Bradshaw Young; four daughters, Beth Young Holden of Georgetown, Pat Young Bramlett of Houston, Pam Young Covington of Dallas, and Julie Young Finley of Spartanburg; a son, Coleman Young Jr. of Spartanburg; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Baptist Church by the Revs. Kirk H. Neely, Ken Holden and Ken Bramlett. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Born Dec. 24, 1933, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Curtis B. and Celia J. Hale Young . He was a mechanic in helicopter assembly at Pratt-Whitney, a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Payne Young ; three sons, Curtis Young of Florence, David Young of Lancaster and John D. Young of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Alice Young of Perryville; a brother, Cleaster A. Young of Danville ; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Young of Stanford and Kenneth Young of Tennessee; three daughters, Bonnie Naegele of Cincinnati and Betty Freeman and Bobbi Maloney, both of Mountain Home, Idaho; a brother, Edmond Brown of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Verna Pittman of Glennville, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Aldridge.
