Benjamin Harrison Auxier Jr., age 72, of Stanford, Kentucky died Tuesday, December 15, 1998, at Central Baptist
Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was a self-employed piano and organ technician and a gunsmith. He was a member of the Danville Presbyterian
Church. Ben was born on November 6, 1926 in Pikeville, Kentucky, the son of Benjamin Harrison Auxier Sr. and
Roberta Gaines. He was the grandson of Samuel Buchanan Auxier and Levina Webb, the great grandson of John
Brown Auxier and Mary Ann Tilsey Grayson and the 2nd great grandson of Samuel Auxier II and Rebecca Phillips.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Kelly McCubbins Auxier, who died in infancy. He is survived by his
ex-wife, Margaret Edmonds Auxier, two sons, Benjamin Auxier III and George Daniel Auxier, a daughter, Roberta,
one sister, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

BAKER, James Sr. d. 14 Nov, 1998
MORELAND, James Baker, 92, of Moreland, died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital, Stanford.
Born July 26, 1906, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Christopher and Alice Haley Baker. He was a retired
security guard for Vance Security and a member of Moreland Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Price Baker; a son, James Baker Jr. of Camp Verde, Ariz.; a brother, John
Baker of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. David Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Dale Smith, Elwood Brown, Charles Bolling, Vaudie Griffin and Jimmy Chelf.

MORELAND -- Services for James Allen Baker, 86, of Moreland, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral
Home by the Revs. Greg Nimmo and David Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. He died Saturday at his
home. Born March 26, 1919, in Moreland, he was the son of the late Willie and Ethel Pearl Merriman Baker. He
was co-owner and operator of Baker Brothers Contracting in Danville for 20 years. He was a 1935 graduate of
Moreland High School where he played five years on the football, basketball and baseball teams. He was a Kentucky
Colonel. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, served as past master of Hustonville Lodge 184, and belonged to
the chapter and council of Danville's Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Jean Sims Baker of Moreland; a daughter, Sue Baker Peek of Moreland; and a
great-granddaughter whom he raised, Amy Sharp of Moreland; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bowen, Bo and Tyler McGuffey, Jim Peek, Willie Sharp, Earl Baker, Glen Chadwell and Otha
Atwood. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Brown, Carlos Clem, Elmer Crowe Jr., Robert Reid, Haskel Wesley,
Bob and Jesse Wilson, and Jimmy Chelf.

LEXINGTON -- Ida Bolin Berkes, 90, of Lexington died Monday. Born April, 18, 1911, in Perry County, she
was a daughter of the late Elijah and Martha Bolin. She was a retired teacher and the widow of Hugo Berke.
Survivors include a brother, E.J. Bolin; three sisters, Opal Gooch of Lexington, Faye Russell of Stanford and
Ethel Bolin of Nicholasville. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pruitt's Funeral Home, Alexandria Drive.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

BLESS, Bernard Louis , 83, of Waynesburg were held Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery by the Rev. David
Witten, with military rites by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford. He died Wednesday at his home.

PERRYVILLE - Services for Grace Wall Bradley, 81, of Perryville Street, Harrodsburg, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at
Wilder Funeral Home by the Rev. Keith Weldon and Jack Geurin. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. She died today
at her home.

Born Dec. 11, 1922, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Florence Gooch Wall. She was a
certified nurses aid at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital for 20 years and a member of Benton Baptist Church where
she taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Bradley; a son, Donald Salyers of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Juanita Hamner
of Harrodsburg and Betty G. Whittaker of Hustonville; four sisters, Nellie Phillips of Kings Mountain, Jewell Salyers
and Jean Salyers, both of Hustonville, and Ruth Smith of Lancaster; a stepsister, Mae Betts of Danville; five grandchildren;
and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Beedy, Scott and Eric Hamner, Shane Whittaker, David Fields and Eugene Bradley. Honorary
pallbearer is Bryan Salyers.

WAYNESBURG - Lina Campbell Carman, 93, of Kings Mountain, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical
Center.
Born Jan. 16, 1905, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Millard and Pricilla Falconbery Campbell. She was a
homemaker, a member of Walltown Christian Church and the widow of Manford Carman.
Survivors include three daughters, Pauline Snow and Wilma McQueen, both of Kings Mountain, and Hazel Gambrel of Amelia,
Ohio; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter,
Shirley Carman.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. Steven Willingham. Burial will be in
KP Hall Cemetery, Kings Mountain. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

MORELAND - Curtis Edwards, 76, of Stanford, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 20, 1922, in Birch Leaf, Va., he was a son of the late Bruce and Aley Hay Edwards. He was a retired steel
worker and custodian of the Boyle County Health Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member
of American Legion Post 46 and Junction City Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Green Edwards; three daughters, Judy Leamon of Stanford, Rhonda Edwards of Princeton,
N.J., and Lecia Hurt of Junction City; a brother, Garman Edwards of Birch Leaf; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. John Rasel. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.

MORELAND - Ruby W. Crawford Gaines, 75, of Bonta Lane, Junction City, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center, Danville, after an illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Will and Louan Crawford. She was a member of the Nazarene church
and had been employed by Kentucky State Hospital until she retired. She was predeceased by a son, Howard Crawford "H.C."
Gaines and a daughter, Patricia Wilson.
Survivors include her husband, Howard W. Gaines; a son, Tom Gaines of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Hallie Graham of
Danville and Barbara Sheperson of Perryville; a brother, James Crawford of Stanford; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Lts. Stephen and Shelley Hood and the Rev. John
Lane. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

Born April 21, 1918, in Mount Clemens, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Williams Bendert. She
was a homemaker, retired farmer and the widow of Marion Bud Garrison.

Born July 27, 1935, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Monte Lee and Alla Mae Wells Hale.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean and Vietnam. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans,

Born March 18, 1922, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Betty Cheatam Graham. She was a retired
employee of Palm Beach Co. and a member of Danville Church of the Nazarene. She was the widow of Paul Hammons.

Survivors include three sisters, Bessie Mahan of Nicholasville and Anna B. Graham and Emma D. Shearin, both of Indianapolis, Ind.;

Henry Lair, Lincoln civic leader, dies
STANFORD - Henry Clark Lair, honored as Lincoln County citizen of the year in 1990, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital,
Lexington. He was 80 and lived at 717 E. Main St. Lair was a retired mail carrier, a farmer and a former teacher at Danville High
School. When the Stanford-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce named him Outstanding Citizen of the Year, his involvement
in church, education and family were cited as his accomplishments. He was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church where he
had been an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served on the old Stanford Board of Education. He was on the board
of directors of the Lincoln County and Kentucky Farm Bureau. Lair served in the Philippines and Japan with the Army in World
War II.
Born Nov. 29, 1916, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David Colson and Lucy Tate Smith Lair. Lair was a graduate of
Stanford High School and Centre College. He was a member of local veterans' groups.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Harrington Lair of Stanford; four sons, Denny, Tim and Shea Lair, all of Stanford, and Pat Lair
of Georgetown; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Stanford Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bob Shaeffer. Burial with military services by Caswell
Saufley Post 18, American Legion, will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

the late John and Susan Gaddis and the widow of Albert Martin. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Goings of Junction City; a son, Sterling Martin of Hubbard, Ohio; one grandchild; four great-grandchildren;

Born April 30, 1935, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Pittman McAninch. He was a self-employed
gate hauler and the widower of Shirley C. Hodge McAninch.

Danville and Jerry McAninch of Stanford; five daughters, Violet Petula, Mary Kidd and Carolyn Burchfield, all of Stanford,
and Sarah Phelps and Dolly Yocum, both of Waynesburg; two brothers, Bobby and Jerry McAninch, both of Casey County;
21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny R. McAninch.

MORELAND - Amy Lorine Miller McQueary, 19, and Barry Dale McQueary, 20, both of Junction City, died Sunday as a result
of an automobile accident. Born May 24, 1977, in Boyle County, Amy Lorine Miller McQueary was a daughter of Wayne and Joyce
Miller of Junction City. She was a homemaker and a 1995 graduate of Boyle County High School. She was a member of The
Assemblies of God Church in Danville. Survivors include an infant daughter, Kylie Jo Lorine McQueary; maternal grandmother,
Lorine Cox of Harrodsburg; paternal grandmother, Mary Miller of Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be Steven Case, Brian York,
Ashley Donsoll, Jason Lucas and Charles Taylor. Barry Dale McQueary, 20, was born May 17, 1976, in Boyle County. He was a
son of Albert Luster of Danville and Nona Sue Dean Young of Harrodsburg. He was an employee of Allison Abrasives, Lancaster,
and a member of the Baptist church. He was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School. Survivors include his daughter, Kylie Jo
Lorine McQueary; a stepfather, Tony Young of Harrodsburg; a stepmother, June Luster of Danville; grandmothers, Lucille Dean
and Irene McQueary, both of Harrodsburg; and a brother, Bartley McQueary of Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Tony Hill, Gable

Oliver ``Dooley'' Miller, 80, of Stanford died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born April 7, 1918, in Lincoln County, he was a
son of the late George and Mattie Simpson Miller. He was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds and an Army veteran of World
War II. He was a member of Bethel AME Church.
Survivors include his wife, Olive Miller of Stanford; five daughters, Wanda Bartleson of Somerset, Beverly Miller of Danville,
Esther Miller, Olivia Coffman and Danetta Miller, all of Stanford; three sons, Oliver Jr., George and Gary Miller, all of Stanford,
a sister, Velma Helm of Stanford, 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Casey County, he was the son of the late William and Nancy Snow Pittman. He was a retired farmer and
had worked for Lincoln County Senior Citizens. He was an Army veteran and a member of American Legion in Stanford. He was
the widower of Violet Vaught Pittman.

Survivors include three sons, Ralph Pittman of Stanford, Bennie Pittman of Casey County and Donald Pittman of Plant City, Fla.;
a daughter, Barbara Pittman of Stanford; a brother, Walter Pittman of Casey County; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

REEVES, Elizabeth Holtzclaw , 86, formerly of Stanford will be 10 a.m. Saturday at SpurlinFuneral Home by the Rev. Jerry Beck.

Born July 28, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose W. and Mary Elizabeth McCalister Holtzclaw.
She was a retired vice president of the former Lincoln County National Bank for 42 years and a member of Harris Memorial Methodist
Church. She was the widow of Ben Reeves. Survivors include a sister, Nancy Holtzlaw Weirbach of Santa Barbara, Calif.

REID, Martha Patton D. 30 August 1996
MORELAND - Martha ``Sue'' Patton Reid, 80, of Hustonville died Friday at Liberty Care Manor in Liberty.
Born March 17, 1916, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Charlotte Helms Patton. She and her late
husband, Merrell M. Reid, had operated a general store in Hustonville for 40 years. She belonged to Antioch Christian Church in Liberty.
Survivors include a sister, Rosie M. Yoder of Shelbyville, Ind.; and a brother, Charles Patton of Hope, Ind.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul W. Patton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Beulah Reynolds, 89, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital Extended Care Unit.

A native of Montgomery County, Ill., she was born Oct. 30, 1914, and was the daughter of the late James Clayton Anderson
and Mary Jane Jones Anderson. She was homemaker, farmer and member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was the widow
of Simon "Sam" Reynolds.

Survivors include three sons, Jon Gary Reynolds of Eubank, James Milton Reynolds of Crab Orchard, and Jeffery Lee Reynolds
of Bremen, Ind.; two daughters, Joyce Taylor of Eubank and Juanita Denny of Crab Orchard; two half brothers, Robert Milton

John Danny Russell, 61, of Aspen Drive, died Tuesday at his home. Born Jan. 6, 1943, in Lincoln County, he was the son
of John A. Russell of Lexington and the late Helen Carey Russell. He was an off-shore oil company employee and an Army
veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth S. Bourgeois of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Russell of Danville and
Norman Russell of Mitchellsburg; and a sister, Carol Lamb of Lexington.

Services will be noon Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Denton. Burial will be in Camp Nelson
National Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Elizabeth Spoonamore Spears, 79, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born June 2, 1925, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Eunice D. Adams Spoonamore. She
was a retired nurse's aide, having worked for Stanford House nursing home, and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Luther T. Spears of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Linda Spears Trute of Big Rapids, Mich.,
and Cathryn Spears Petrey of Crab Orchard; a son, Steven Spears of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Ruth Brown and Ann King,
both of Ohio; three brothers, David and Calvin Spoonamore, both of Ohio, and Tommy Spoonamore of Crab Orchard;
10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dallas and Jamie Petrey, Dusty and Lonnie Spears Jr., Claude Bowen and William Tucker.

Nancy Stewart, 67, of Boneyville Road, died Friday at her residence. Born Aug. 17, 1936, in Lincoln County, she was the
daughter of the late J. Glenmore and Sue A. Carson. She was the widow of Rev. Willie Stewart. She was a member of
Boneyville Baptist and the Ministers Wives Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Thomas of Winchester; a son, Cedric Stewart of Stanford; a sister, Frances Jordan of Louisville;
six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Boneyville Baptist Church by Robert Coulter. Burial will be in Milton Simpson Cemetery, Stanford.

Born May 19, 1966, in Stanford, she was the daughter of Estil Peyton and Wanda Brown Peyton, both of Hustonville. She was an

Taylor of Danville; a stepdaughter, Ciara Levell of Danville; two sisters, Patricia Beasley of Danville and Connie Maddox of Moreland;
two brothers, Mike Peyton of Hustonville and Keith Peyton of Menasha, Wis.; and a grandson.

Born Aug. 3, 1971, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Dorothy Roe Terry and the late Raymond L. Terry. He was employed by the
financial department of the Indiana Housing Authority. He also was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Keith Terry.

STANFORD - Nellie Hogue Sims Walls, 84, of Hustonville died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Lincoln County , she was a daughter of the late Luther Martin and Nannie Gooch Hogue. She was a retired
housekeeper with Fort Logan Hospital and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Oscar Sims and
John Raymond Walls.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph W. Walls of Hustonville, Larry Dean Walls of Kings Mountain and James V. Sims of Stanford;
a daughter, Brenda Sue Walls of Hustonville; four sisters, Della Terry and Mayme Peek, both of Kings Mountain, Ruby Roberts of
Stanford and Tressie Shimmell of Cleveland, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Born Dec. 25, 1913, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Jerry N. and Clara Hatter Wesley. He was a retired self-employed
auto mechanic, a member of Green River Christian Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Ruby
Edwards Wesley and Virginia Wesley. Survivors include two daughters, Murline Penn of Danville and Marcia Reed of Louisville;

Center. Born in Richmond on Sept. 3, 1968 to: John B. and Joyce Bumann Hester of Hustonville. She was a school librarian at Stanford
Elementary School and member of Hustonville Baptist Church. Besides her parents, survivors include her husband Jerry Wesley; a daughter
Taylor Jo Wesley; a sister Beverly Hester Dennis of Moreland. She was buried in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery on August 29, 2001.

STANFORD - Services for Dorothy Gerkey Young, 81, of Ky. 1247, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home by Rob Cox and

Born Dec. 30, 1922, in Hustonville, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Cordie Miracle Gerkey. She was an Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation Service employee and a member of Stanford Church of Christ.

She was the widow of Jesse Lee Young. Survivors include a son, Dudley Keith Young of Hall's Gap; two daughters, Shirley Peck of
Hall's Gap and Joyce Kitts of Stanford; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shane and Josh Peck, Chad Holloway, Jason Hurt, John Cave and Todd Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will

DUNNVILLE (AP) - A married couple from Ohio were killed Sunday when the motorcycle they were aboard collided with a van on
U.S. 127 in Casey County, state police said.

Larry P. Lay, 44, and his wife, 33-year-old Denise L. Lay, 33, of Cincinnati, died when their motorcycle hit the passenger side fender
of the van at 11:50 a.m., Trooper Jeremy Johnson said.

The couple were riding northbound on U.S. 127 when they encountered the van, traveling south, at a curve in the highway, Johnson said.
Denise Lay was pronounced dead at the scene. Larry Lay, who was driving the 2003 Honda motorcycle, was pronounced dead at
Casey County Hospital shortly after the crash.

The bodies were taken to Frankfort where autopsies were performed today. Two people in the van, Douglas P. Tarter, 37, of Dunnville,
and 7-year-old Kelsey Tarter, were not injured.

Mr. Bill Westerfield, 59, of Baughman Avenue in Danville, died Thursday September 28, 1995 at Ephraim McDowell Medical
Center in Danville. Born September 11, 1936 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late John David Westerfield, Sr., and
Mary McCowan Westerfield.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Inter-County Rural Electric Co-Op where he had worked for 38 years and a member
of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, DeLayne Souleyrette Westerfield; one son; Billy Joe "Bud" Westerfield, Jr., Danville; one daughter,
Kathy Lynn Phillips, Danville; one brother, J. D. Westerfield, Danville; five sisters, Edith Henson and Elizabeth Herrington,
both of Stanford, Mattie Hasty, Katherine Banker, and Ann Cox,, all of Cincinnati, OH; five grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Maxwell and Earl Westerfield.

Services for Mr.Westerfield were Monday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Martin
