WAYNESBURG - Services for Barbara Faye Adams, 59, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Waynesburg, will be 4 p.m. today at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. She died Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1938, in Letcher County, she was a daughter of Cinda Whitaker Adams of Pikeville and the late Crocarr Adams. She was a nurse at Rockcastle County Hospital and a member of Eubank Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Elbert Adams of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Sheila Wells of Mount Vernon; a son, James Murphy of Mount Vernon; a brother, Allen Adams of Whitesburg; a sister, Angeletta Fields of Pikeville; and three grandchildren.

STANFORD - Eretta Adkins, 70, of Shea Villa, died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born June 10, 1926, in Holdening, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert Lilly and Florence Tomblin Lilly Browning. She was an employee of General Motors, Columbus, Ohio. She was the widow of Samuel Roy Adkins.
Survivors include four brothers, Romey Lilly of Stanford, Cletus Lilly of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Sherman Lilly of Hampton, N.C., and Harold Browning of Charleston, S.C., and a sister, Wanda Sondles of John's Island, S.C. There will be no public service.

MORELAND - Lonnie Earl Atwood, 81, of Moreland, died Saturday at Sunrise Nursing Home, Lexington.
Born June 30, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was a son the late Will and Cora Gribbons Atwood. He was a retired school bus driver having driven for 28 years in Lincoln County.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cook Atwood; two daughters, Sue Snow of Moreland and Peggy Clements of Lexington; a brother, Otha Atwood of Hustonville; two sisters, Dolly Jackson of Frankfort and Oval Manning of Park Terrace, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. G.W. Smith. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Jackson, Billy Cox, Billy Cox Jr., Russell Brown, Howard Gibson and Junior Snow.
Honorary pallbearers are Gene Durham, Haskel Wesley, Sam Baughman, Charles Brown, C.W. Gresham, Joe Raney and Bob Reed.

CRAB ORCHARD - Mary Mullins Blanton Bennett, 80, of Deepwell Woods Road, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born March 21, 1924, in Knott County, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Rosie Johnson Mullins.  
She was a homemaker and a member of Crab Orchard Old Regular Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edmond Bennett.  
Survivors include a son, Calvin T. Blanton of Lexington; a daughter, Rosie M. Braley of Crab Orchard; a brother, James M. Mullins of Crab Orchard; 13 grandchildren; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Reed P. Blanton Jr. and Ronald C. Blanton. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Adam Hopkins and Marshal Scott II. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

STANFORD - Alice Bolin Bowling, 79, Nicholasville Road, Lexington, died Saturday at her home.
Born June 7, 1917, in Perry County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Martha Gilbert Bolin. She was a Berea High School graduate and attended Berea College. She was a homemaker and belonged to Porter Memorial Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hubert Bowling.
Survivors include one son, Michael Bowling, San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Patricia Hall, Lexington; one brother, E.J. Bolin, Lexington; five sisters, Donna Raye Russell, Danville, Ethel Bolin, Nicholasville, Opal Gooch and Ida Berkes, both of Lexington, and Hestor Morris, Greenville, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim McGee. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until time of the service today.

WAYNESBURG - Artie Mae Hackney Brown, 75, Somerset Road, died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Dec. 9. 1921, in Pulaski County, she was a daughter of the late Lundy and Polly Pauley Hackney. She was a homemaker and caregiver and a member of Science Hill Christian Church. She was the widow of J. Barkley Brown.
Survivors include two brothers, Sid Hackney and Thomas Hackney, both of Eubank; and two sisters, Beatrice Hackney of Eubank and Agnes Blake of Rockville, Ind.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home by the Rev. David Green. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.

LOUISVILLE - James Donald Brummett, 52, of Louisville, died Friday at Nortons Hospital, Louisville.
Born Aug. 27, 1946, in Louisville, he was a son of Grover Brummett and the late Mary W. Moore Brummett. He was a retired salesman.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer J. Brummett of Stanford; a son, Scott P. Brummett; and a sister, Debra Ezzell.
Graveside services were Saturday at Penn Run Cemetery.

CABELL, Robert E.  Jr.                                                                            d. 05 Apr 1997
Services for Robert Emmett Cabell Jr., 80, Carrigan Drive, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) by the Revs. Norman Hagley and Caroline Bloomfield. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
He died Saturday at his home.
Born March 3, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Robert and Belle Marie Cowan Cabell. He was a retired truck driver for Swiss Sanitary Milk Company, Texaco and Unical. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, was active in Senior Citizens Center and was a deacon and member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.)
Survivors include his wife, Edith Marie Morris Cabell; a daughter, Sue Barnes of Lancaster; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David and Michael Barnes, Pete Cabell, George Gundlach, James Brown and Ed Johnson.

MORELAND - Services for Virginia Douglas Carmickle, 72, of Bowen Road, will be 2 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. John Sanders and Doug Lester. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
She died Monday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Born Jan. 3, 1926, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Josh and Ellen Grider Douglas. She was a retired 32-year employee of Palm Beach Co., and a member of Bowen United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Howard L. Carmickle; two sons, James L. Carmickle of Hustonville and Jerry S. Carmickle of Moreland; two daughters, Irma Woodrow of Burgin and Lurenda Melton of Albany, Ga.; a sister, Elizabeth Moser of Danville; three brothers, Ansel Douglas of Frankfort, Richard Douglas of Danville and Josh Douglas of Hustonville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Danny, Bill, Gary and Calvin Douglas, and Randy and Barry Moser.

STANFORD -- Lowell Marvin Carter, 69, of Norwood, Ohio, died Monday in Cincinnati.  Born May 6, 1933, in Arabia, Ky., he was 
the son of the late Denver and Virginia Reed Carter. He was a retied employee of General Motors Co. in Fairfield, Ohio, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Freida L. Cox Carter; two daughters, Lodeena M.Carter of Versailles and Dede McWhorter of Norwood; 
a brother, Gordon Carter of Stanford; three sisters, Winifred Carpenter of Danville, Hilda Whalen of Versailles and Charlotte Self 
of Lexington; a stepson, Kenneth L. Cox of Danville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Burl Coffman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington. 
Born March 31, 1943, in Letcher County, he was a son of the late William Howard and Allie Combs Caudill. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. 
Survivors include a brother, Everett Ison Caudill of Louisville; and four sisters, Nannie Bell Sesco of Pikeville, Ruby Lee York of 
Eubank, Reva Mae Ray of Louisville and Mary Grace Sluder of Waynesburg.

Louise Zigler Chandler, 62, of Hustonville Road, Junction City, died Wednesday at Humana Hospital, Lexington. Born June 26, 1933, in Pulaski County, she was a daughter of the late William and Thelma Jones Zigler. She was an employee of American Greetings, Danville, and a member of Junction City First Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Women's Missionary Union and was Sunday school teacher of the Every Day Class. She was a member of the first graduating class of Pulaski County High School and the widow of Harold S. Chandler. Survivors include a son, David Chandler of Junction City; a sister, Imogene Mitchell of Lafayette, Ind.; and three grandchildren. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Earl Burnside. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lawrence Kendrick, Sonny Barker, Jimmy Cloyd, Glen Wilson, Frank Durrett, Glen Nutgrass, Harold Boyd, Leonard Upton and Matt Flanagan. Survivors include her husband, Gordon Cole; a son, Mike Cole of Eubank; two daughters, Patricia Doughman of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Pamela Christensen of Fairfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Vorhis Funeral Home in Cincinnati by the Rev. Brady Clark. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati.
Visitation is 9 a.m. Saturday in Cincinnati until time of service.

son of Alice F. Cornett Foley of Waynesburg and the late Robert Foley. He was an employee of Woodstock Pallet Mill.
Other survivors include a brother, Larry G. Stull of Kings Mountain; and a sister, Jeanie Foley Warfield of Eubank.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Robert Collins.

A graveside service for Herman James Coyle, 82, formerly of Junction City, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bellevue Cemetery by the Rev. Don Drake. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home. He died June 10 in New Orleans. Born Oct. 22, 1913, in McKinney, he was the son of the late James and Lee Walls Coyle. He was a farmer, former janitor of Junction City School, and the widower of Rosie L. Coyle. Survivors include a son, John Coyle, New Orleans.

and retired licensed plumber and a member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church.

LIBERTY - Benny Conrad Cross, 64, of Liberty Route 8 died Sunday at his residence. Born March 31, 1932, in Clarkrange, Tenn., he was a son of the late Elec and Winnie Jane Krain Cross. He was a former salesman at Mercer Motors in Harrodsburg and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Dewayne Cross. Survivors include his wife, Ella Taylor Cross; a daughter, Barbara Alice Toll of Salvisa; one son, Stanley Conrad Cross of Stanford; one brother, Cosby Arnold Cross of Crossville, Tenn.; one sister, Letta Kathleen Edgens of Atlanta, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Born Jan. 7, 1937, in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Lillian Singleton Lanigan. She was a retired Matsushita 
employee and lead singer for New Gospel Fire. She was a member of New Life Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her husband, James Darland; a son, Chris Carey of Waynesburg; a daughter, Vicki Delk Stewart of Ashland; 
three stepsons, Tommy and Timmy Darland, both of Harrodsburg, and David Bishop of Danville; a stepdaughter, Lisa Lewis of 
Junction City; three brothers, Jack Lanigan of Science Hill, Kenneth Lanigan of  Casey County and Roy Lanigan of Platka, Fla.; 
seven grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Ricky and Roger Young, Tony Lanigan, Zachary Clements, Daniel and Brian Stewart.

Born Feb. 8, 1940, in Montgomery County, he was the son of Flora Jackson Dale of St. Matthews and the late Charles B. Dale Sr. 
He was a retired employee of Trane Co. in Lexington and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington. He was an Army veteran.

with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.
He died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Dec. 10, 1925, in Highland, he was the son of the late William T. and Chloe Della Carrier Davis. He was a farmer and a member of 
Mount Hebron Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the widower of Marcella Wilcop Davis.
Survivors include a daughter, Radonna Bredar of Danville; a brother, Raymond Davis of Highland; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Jeff and Casey Reed, Roger Kirkpatrick, Dennis Davis and Doug May. Honorary pallbearers will be members

A. Snow of Stanford; three brothers, Robert Decker of Jacksonville, Fla., James Decker of Lancaster, and Dale Decker of Columbia, Md.; and two grandchildren. Burial was in Johnston.

Born Jan. 31, 1938, in Letcher County, he was a son of Gertrude Burton Dixon of Viper and the late Hargis Eldridge. He was a retired employee of General Dynamics and a Marine veteran. He was the widower of Hilda Oliver Eldridge, a Master Mason and a member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his stepfather, Luther Dixon of Viper; a companion, Corine Thompson of Waynesburg; three sons, Todd Smith of Kenton, Ohio, Richard Smith of Oceanside, Calif., and Lugene Smith of Rushsylvania, Ohio; three daughters, Dorothy Kissling and Mary Roby, both of Kenton, and Tammy Whitaker of Forest, Ohio; four brothers, Billy Eldridge of Oswego, N.Y., Arnold Eldridge of Harrod, Ohio, Larry Eldridge of Eubank and Edward Eldridge of Viper; four sisters, Hilma Bloyd of Macon, Ga., Frances Carmack of Eubank, Helen Maggard and Irene Caudill, both of Viper; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Born May 31, 1932, in Casey County, he was retired after 35 years from National Distillery Co. of Cincinnati. He was the son of Gertrude Salyers Bastin of Waynesburg and the late Fred Elden Elliott.
Additional survivors include his wife, Fastine Elliott Elliott, formerly of Casey County; two sons, Kalvin D. and Roger L. Elliott, both of Williamstown; two daughters, Velma Kay Bowen, Dry Ridge, Leslie Gail Griess, Williamstown; a brother, Raymond Elliott, Columbia; three sisters, Catherine Floyd, Waynesburg, Vina Clem, Cincinnati and Juanita Shelly, Yosemite.

MORELAND - Margaret D. Ellis, 78, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., died Nov. 5 at Hospice House in Fort Myers, Fla.  
Born July 5, 1926, in Norwood, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes Short Davis. She was raised in Middleburg by 
her grandparents, the late James and Lula Short. She was a teacher, retired after spending 32 years in education.

She began her teaching career in a one-room school in Casey County and taught at Middleburg, McKinney and Hustonville high schools, and Athens Elementary and Tates Creek Junior High in Fayette County. She was named teacher of the year while at Tates Creek. She was a former member of Hustonville Book Club.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan Ellis; two sons, Dr. Rodney Ellis of Nashville, Tenn., and Dr. Gary Ellis of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Hustonville Cemetery.

and sang in the senior choir.

WAYNESBURG - Clayton Edgar Reed, 29, Water Cemetery Road, Kings Mountain, died Saturday in an auto accident in Casey County.
He was the son of William W. Reed of Kings Mountain and the late Catherine Cook Reed. He was a construction worker.
Additional survivors include his wife, Katherine Myers Reed; a son, Charles Clayton Reed; four brothers, William H. ``Butch'' Reed and Chris Reed, both of Kings Mountain; Tony Reed of St. Cloud, Fla., and Stephen Reed of Nunsuch; and a sister, Kathy J. Drew of Waynesburg.

Born April 15, 1907, in Casey County, she was a daughter of James and Cynthia King Upthegrove. She was a homemaker, a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church and the widow of Chester Rice.
Survivors include four daughters, Frances Coleman of Stanford, Vivian Wilson and Shirley Rice, both of Danville, and Lora ``Bonnie'' Art of Paint Lick; a son, James ``Jack'' Rice of Junction City; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and five step great-grandchildren.

Born April 12, 1930, in Tipp City, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Della Griffin Bergner. She was a former employee of Hasty's Grocery and a cook at the Country Kettle Restaurant in Garrard County. She was the widow of Jack N. Rigsby. SCIENCE HILL - Herbert Earl Robertson, 80, of Kings Mountain, died Tuesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. 
Born Feb. 5, 1918, in Carter County, he was a son of the late French and Mary Catherine Roberts Robertson. He was a farmer and a member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church. 
Survivors include his wife, Chessie Phillips Robertson; a brother, Hubert Robertson of Waynesburg; five sisters, Roxie Buckler of Berry, Goldie Osborne of Independence, Ruth Barchus of Williamstown, and Hazel Fite and Velma Phillippi, both of Kings Mountain.

MORELAND - Daniel Edward Southard, 85, of Scottsville died Thursday in Scottsville.
Born Sept. 9, 1912, in Rockcastle County, he was the son of the late Dr. D.B. and Della Barnes Southard. He was the widower of Gretchen Gilliland Southard. He was a retired grocery salesman.
Survivors include a daughter, Birdie Mundell Hall of Scottsville; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Smith.
Active pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Fox, Ed Gooch, Billy Roy Hastie, Bob Noe, Julian Moss Sr. and James Hodges.

principal and was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Vanover of Stanford; and a step-daughter, Blanche Combs of Riverside, Calif.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by the Rev. C.A. Easterling. Burial will be at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. 
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.

Born May 9, 1940, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Lawrence Wall and Ettia N. Wall Helm. He was a self-employed sanitation worker.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Standifer Wall; four sons, Patrick Wall of Lancaster, Kevin Wall of Stanford and Chris and Dewayne Wall, both of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Tina Reynolds of Lancaster and Lisa Ryan of Stanford; seven sisters, Linda Durham, Belinda Emerson, Rhonda Lawless and Yvonda Wall, all of Russell Springs, Brenda Forsee and Wanda Luttrell, both of Dunnville, and Glenda Siler of Waynesburg; three brothers, Zendell and Wendell Wall, both of Russell Springs, and Randall Wall of Dunnville; and eight grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for William Franklin Wardlow, 77, of Crab Orchard, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 of Stanford.

He died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late William and Nonearl Dishon Wardlow. He was an employee of General Die Cast in Oak Park, Mich., an Army veteran and a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Genon Collins Wardlow; three daughters, Nancy Green of Inkster, Mich., Vanessa Wardlow of Romulus, Mich., and Traci Mason of Eddyville; four sons, Walter "Bud" Wardlow of Pinckney, Mich., James Wardlow of Inkster, Michael Smith of Benton and Terry Smith of Franklin; a sister, Margie Bishop of Brodhead; two brothers, Elmore Wardlow of Stanford and James Wardlow of Crab Orchard; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Isiah J. White, and two sisters, Lillie Statom and Permelia Haynes, both of Louisville.

Born June 7, 1923, in Estesburg, she was a daughter of the late Retna Marie Todd and Mitchell Griffin. She was a homemaker and a member of McKinney Baptist Church. She was the widow of William Russell.
Survivors include a son, Ronald R. Whitis of Eubank; two daughters, Diana M. Strunk and Karen C. Whitis, both of Eubank; three sisters, June Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio, Lodema Nevels of Somerset, and Wilma Kelly of Richmond; eight brothers, V.J. Griffin of Tallmadge, Ohio, Blaine Griffin of Eubank, Vaudie, Verlon and Bernard Griffin, all of Stanford, Leroy Griffin of Lexington, and Elroy and Dean Griffin, both of McKinney; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
He died Sunday at Veterans Administration Hospital after an illness.
Born March 11, 1931, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Addison and Sadie Wilkinson. He was a was a truck driver, a member of First Baptist Church, Stanford, and a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include three sons, James W. Wilkinson of Danville, Anthony Wilkinson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lamont Wilkinson of Stanford; a brother, Bobby Wilkinson of Stanford; a sister, Thelma Turner of Lexington; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be David Penman, Jeff Jones, Richard Guess, Richard Caldwell, Bobby Wilkinson Jr., and Paul Wilkinson.
Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Logan, Robert Wilkinson and Luther Wilkinson.
