HOUSTONVILLE- Becky Nadine Adams, 50, formerly of Hustonville, died Saturday at Stanford House nursing home.  
Born May 30, 1951, in Danville, she was the daughter of Leona Ogle Adams of Danville and the late Robert Adams.

She was a homemaker and a member of Junction City Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Kenni D. Coyle of Waynesburg; and a son, James W. Coyle of Waynesburg.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Bob Bausum. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

SOMERSET- Edgar, “Ed” Anderson, 73, Bullock Road passed away Saturday June 30, 2001 at his residence. He was born 
April 27, 1928, a son of the late Dockie Allen Anderson and Lela Mae (Kidd) Anderson. He was a farmer , Forklift Operator 
and Truck Driver for the L.C. Henry KY Framing Co. and attended the Cuba Church of God.  

Survivors include his wife, Carrie (Carmack) Anderson; one son, Jack (and Kathy) Anderson, Lebanon, Ind.; one daughter, 
Sharon Willene (and George) Harris, Franklin, Ohio; one step son, Darrell (and Thelma) Bullock, Waynesburg, Ky.; four step 
daughters, Linda (and Donnie) Floyd, Waynesburg, Ky., Sandy (and Tracey) Valentine, Somerset, Ky., Leona (and Danny) 
Floyd, Eubank, Ky. and Wanda (and Tom) Gilmore, Centerville, Ohio; one brother Paul Anderson, Ohio; one special nephew, 
David Anderson, Science Hill, Ky.; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.  

 He is preceded in death by his parents; His 1st wife, Sadie Elizabeth (Calder) Anderson who passed away December 2 1970; 
one brother, Wilmer Anderson; two sisters, Mille Anderson Saylor and Lillie Anderson and one grandchild Jeffery Wayne Johnson. 
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday July 3, 2001 at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Brother Ray 
Arnold and Brother A. F. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in the Science Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday July 2, 2001, 
after 6:00 P. M., at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home. Morris - Hislope Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

MORELAND - Services for Lucille Richards Beldon, 79, of Hustonville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home 
by the Rev. G.W. Smith. Burial will be in
Hustonville Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 11, 1925, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Etta Cummins Richards.

She had worked for the Casey County Board of Education for 19 years and was a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church where 
she had been a Sunday School teacher for 35 years. She was the widow of Clifton L. Beldon.

Survivors include a son, Doug Beldon of Jacktown; a daughter, Gloria Sue Ellis of Ellisburg; a brother, Russell Richards of Hustonville; 
five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Griffin, Joey Ellis, Craig Griffin, Vernon Schubert, Sean Austin, Bronson Richards, Vernon Richards and 
Waitman Beeler. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, great-grandchildren, nieces and Wanda Garrett and Alice Faye Beeler.

Doris Bourque, 79, Logan Trace Apartments, Stanford, died Thursday at home.
Born Dec. 8, 1917, in Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Julia and Steven Manson and the widow of Raymond 
Bourque. She was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses at Halls Gap.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Bourque of Stanford; and a son, Raymond Bourque of Massachusetts. A memorial service 
will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall, Stanford.

SCIENCE HILL - Charles Leon Brown, 75, of Waynesburg, died Thursday at his home.

Born Sept. 6, 1929, in Plainfield, Ind., he was the son of the late William Chester and Ora Ware Brown. He was retired from 
the Lincoln County Road Department and was a member of Pond Missionary Baptist Church. He was the widower of Bessie 
Rachel Shelton Brown.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmie Brown Sr. and Edward Brown, both of Danville, Charles Brown of Waynesburg and 
Randal Brown of Kings Mountain; four daughters, Rita Maddox and Sharon Carney, both of Stanford, and Carol Williams 
and Sheila Lambert, both of Waynesburg; a sister, Pauline Linville of Indianapolis; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded 
in death by a son, Johnnie Ray Brown; and two daughters, Greta Louise Brown and Evelyn Sue Stoddard.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Double Springs Baptist Church by Gordan Chaney and Mark King. Burial will be in Double 
Springs Cemetery
.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Linville, Carl Stoddard, Jim Hicks, Anthony Speak and John 
Carrier. Morris & Hislope are in charge of arrangements.

BRYANT, Ruby Horton                                                                      d. 23 Aug 2002

MORELAND - Ruby Horton Bryant, 84, of Moreland, formerly of Danville, died Friday at her home. 



Born Aug. 4, 1918, in Crab Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Ansel and Bertha Ann Singleton Osborne. She was the widow 

of Johnnie Bryant and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Noah Senior Citizens Choir and 

the Bible Learners Sunday school class. She had worked as a cook at Danville Cafeteria and also had been an employee of the 

Coffee Cup Restaurant. 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bertha Ann Finn.
Survivors include two sons, John T. Horton of Florence and George McRay Horton of Nicholasville; six daughters, Rena Kay Schulz 

of Louisville, Sandra Cano Wimberly of Chicago, Judy VanArsdall and Patsy Shepperson, both of Danville, and Charlene Antle and 

Margaret Schulte, both of  Moreland; two children she raised, Katie Chapman Collier of Danville and Marilyn Tharp of Junction City; 

two sisters, Charlotte Dunsmore of Leesburg, Fla., and Sadie Traylor of New Richmond, Ohio; 46 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren, 

five great-great grandchildren, and four Great-great-great - grandchildren. 



Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gethsemane Baptist Church by the Revs. Clyde Strunk and Mark Payton. Burial will be in Danville 

Memorial Gardens.

MORELAND -- Joyce Ann Griffin Candler, 61, of Moreland died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1941, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mattie Stevens Griffin.
She was a registered nurse, retired from Riverton Memorial Hospital in Wyoming. She was a member of Moreland Christian Church 

and Order of the Eastern Star, and the widow of Norris B. Candler.



Survivors include a sister, LaDonna Penman of Stanford.Services were private.

COLDIRON, Judy Neal                                                                      d. 16 Feb 2005

CRAB ORCHARD - Judy Neal Coldiron, 95, of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville.

Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Leeanna Neal. She was a member of Watts 
Chapel Baptist Church and the widow of Jesse E. Coldiron.

Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Mullins and Lena Palmer, both of Crab Orchard, and Hala Benge of Coomer, Ga.; 
two sons, Daniel Coldiron of Nicholasville and George Coldiron of Danville; a sister, Lillian Cash of Danville; 14 grandchildren; 
19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Vernon L. and Fred E. "Tidge" Coldiron.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Coldiron Cemetery.

STANFORD - Services for Ethel Coleman, 84, of Hustonville, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Temple Church by Alfred Stevens 
and Roger Stevens. Burial will be in
Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Monday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.

Born June 12, 1920, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Florence Payton Conatser. She was a homemaker, 
a member of the Pentecostal Faith and the widow of Sam D. Coleman.

Survivors include five sons, Gordon and John Coleman, both of Stanford, Jerry and Clyde Coleman, both of Hustonville, and Mark 
Coleman of Lancaster; three daughters, Christine Smith of Hustonville, Connie Payton of Stanford and Becky Mounce of Somerset; 
a half brother, Phillip Conatser of Orlando, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, 
Lewis Coleman; and two daughters, Brenda and Faye Griffin.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Fox Funeral Home.

McKinney Cemetery, Pulaski County
He died Sunday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

 Born Feb. 3, 1936, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Owen and Elsie Mullins Combs. He was a farmer and a member of 
Pilot Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean McKinney Combs; three sons, Greg, Tim and Randy Combs, all of 
Eubank; three brothers, Hurston "Dean" Combs of Stanford, Gary Combs of Eubank and Jeffrey Combs of Texas; four sisters, 
Wanda Stacey, Norma Jean Combs and Jeannine Propes, all of Yosemite, and Theresa Williams of Danville; six grandchildren; 
and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joey, Chris, Dale, Casey and Jacob Combs, Justin Mullins, Jeff Hill and Dan Bowling. Honorary pallbearers will

STANFORD - Georgia Bertram Cope, 84, of Danville died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born 

Aug. 20, 1917, in Forbus, (Fentress Co.) Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Timothy and Emma L. Cook Bertram. She was 

a homemaker and the widow of Ernest L. Cope.
Survivors include six sons, Junior Cope, Billy Cope and Kenneth Cope, all of Muncie, Ind., Carroll Roy Cope and Ronnie Cope, both 

of Danville, and Timmy Cope of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Connie Bodner and Brenda Phillips, both of Stanford; a stepson, James 

Cope of Muncie, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Treva Bond of California; 25 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.



Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Family Worship Center in Danville by the Rev. David Harris. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Stacey, Tracy, Phillip, James and Chris Cope, Ken Hall, Rob Brown and Charles Gauntt. Honorary pallbearers are 

Jerry Jones and Chuck Meece.

BOWLING GREEN – The Rev. Melvin Dishon, 91, of Bowling Green died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, January 16, 2005, at Greenview Hospital. 
He was born in Lincoln County to Chris Dishon and Nettie Padgett Dishon.

 He retired as a Methodist and Nazarene minister for 70 years and attended Asbury Seminary. He pastured at Methodist and Nazarene 
churches in several cities and served as an evangelist for many years prior to retirement. He was a past member of Bowling Green 
Ministerial Association and a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Faye Bell 
Dishon, and his parents. [Owensboro, KY. Newspaper]

LANCASTER - Services for Catherine ``Cathy'' Dunn, 45, of West Buford Street, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 
Paulding Street. Burial will be in Duncantown Cemetery.
She died Monday at her home of natural causes.
Born July 1, 1953, in Lexington, she was a daughter of Francis Richey Watkins of Stanford and the late Robert Watkins. She was 
a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lewis Dunn; two daughters, Chantay D. Dunn and Latoya C. Dunn, both of Lancaster; a son, 
Robert Lewis Dunn of Lancaster; a brother, Wilburn Richey Jr., of Stanford; two sisters, Wilma Richey of Stanford and Theresa 
Richey of Danville.
Pallbearers will be Paul Vandike, James Black, Gary McPherson, Charles Hood, Darrell and Tyrone Spillman and Pat Alcorn.

Claudia LuAnn Durbin, 46, of Danville, died Friday at her residence. Born in Richmond, she was the daughter of Helen R. Durbin 
and the late C.B. Durbin, Jr. She was a beautician in Danville.

Other survivors include two sons, Jeffery G. Durbin and Bobby Hatfield, both of Danville; three sisters, Ruth Lucas of Stanford, 
Betty Johnson of Danville and Debbie Gordon of Parksville; and a grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home by Dale Denton. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robbie and Charles Lucas, Michael Durbin, Rick Norris, Mickey Adams and Kenny Russell.

MORELAND -- Services for Guy R. Eades, 77, of Wilmore will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Keith Willoughby. 

Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.



He died Thursday at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.



Born July 23, 1924, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Henry and Effie Hill Miller Eades. He was a carpenter and a retired 

Baptist minister. He attended Friendship Baptist Church in Butchertown and was an Army veteran of World War II.



Survivors include his wife, Alma Atchley Eades of Frankfort; five sons, Randall Eades of Junction City, Kenneth Eades of Moreland, Conn 

Eades of Independence, Manuel Eades of Georgetown and Keith Eades of Shelbyville; four daughters, Bonnie Maddox and Ruth Cochran, 

both of Moreland, Kathy LaVey of Lexington and Nellene New of Shelbyville; three brothers, Allison Eades of Gilbert, S.C., Aretus Eades 

of Russell Springs and David Eades of Anderson, Ind.; a sister, Adalene Jones of  Jamestown; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 

and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Eades.



Pallbearers will be Buddy Southerland, Delbert Maddox, Rickey Cochran, Steve Maddox, Richard Cochran and Adam LaVey.

Lucinda Eldridge, 80, of Parlor grove Road, Waynesburg, died Friday, May 11 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.  A native of 
Letcher County, she was born March 12, 1910 to George Fields and Rebexie Caudill.  She was a homemaker and a member of 
Dixon Memorial Old Regular Baptist Church. 

 Survivors include her husband, Henry Eldridge, Waynesburg; six sons, Carl Eldridge, Kings Mountain, Hubert Eldridge, Blackie, 
Elmer Eldridge and Emil Eldridge, both of Frankfort, Raymond Eldridge, Hallie and Arthur Eldridge, Frankfort, three daughters, 
Betty Sue Williams, Shelbyville, IN., Stella Shelton, Crab Orchard and Arlie Simpson, Waynesburg; one brother, Davis Fields, 
Louisville; two sisters, Paulina Slone, Lexington and Leona Watts, Kings Mountain; 43 grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.  
Funeral services were held Monday, May 14 at the rose of Sharon Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Allen Whitaker, Carl Back, 
Clark Hays and Homer Smith officiating.  Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.  Barnett and Demrow Funeral Home were in charge 
of arrangements.

Services for Susan Clark Ensslin, 83, of Argyll Woods Drive will be 10 a.m. Friday at Stith 
Funeral Home by Odis Clark. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Clark Jr., Richard David Clark, James C. Gooch, Dennis Fredenburger, Bill Parker and Clay Moore.
She died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born May 1, 1918, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of Ben and Sudie Hawkins Clark. She was a buyer for the children's 

department at the Hub store. She was a member of Indian Hills Christian Church and a graduate of  Parksville High School. She was 

the widow of Ed Ensslin. 
Survivors include a son, Eddie Ensslin of Danville; two brothers, Ralph H. Clark of Danville and James Thomas Clark of Seaford, Va.; 

two sisters, Mattie Mae Turner of Danville and Dorothy Hoepfner of Tampa, Fla., and a grandchild.

SCIENCE HILL - Donald "Duck" Estes, 68, of Kings Mountain, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 25, 1936, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Russell and Amy Estes Sims. He was retired from Lincoln County 
Road Department and a member of Pond Missionary Baptist Church. He was the widower of Wanda Carman Estes. He had served 
in the Army.

Survivors include three sons, Donnie Carman of Science Hill, James Carman of Walltown and Ronnie Carman of Waynesburg; two 
bothers, David L. Sims of Columbus, Ind., and Jeffrey L. Sims of Waynesburg; three sisters, Esther Peavey of Franklin, Ind., Iva 
Dean Emerson of Liberty and Roberta Adington of Kings Mountain; and a grandchild.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by Chester Cornett. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery  
with military rites by American Legion Post 18.

Chessie Faw, 96, of Jake Faw Road, Waynesburg, Ky. passed away Thursday February 7, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional 
Hospital. She was born April 21, 1905 the daughter of the late Wiley and Matilda Absher Burgess. She was a homemaker. She was a 
member of Hays Fork Baptist Church of Berea. Previously she was a sixty year member of Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include two 
sons; Wiley B. and Geneva Faw, Sr., Waynesburg, and D. Clifford and Doris Faw, Connersville, IN., one daughter; Ethel Mae and 
Dewey Mullins of Berea, one brother; Edward Burgess, Mt. City, TN., one sister; Evazella Parsons, W. Jefferson, NC., nine grandchildren, 
twenty two great grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Jacob R. Faw, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 
2:00 P.M. Sunday February 10, 2002 at the Olive Baptist Church Waynesburg with Brother Vincent Carmen and Brother C. E. Jacobs 
officiating. Burial will be in the
Olive Cemetery Waynesburg.

CRAB ORCHARD -The Rev. Lailon Dan Flannery, 72, of Crab Orchard, formerly of Junction City, died Monday at Ephraim 
McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 23, 1930, in Perry County, he was the son of the late Palmer and Gladys Reynolds Flannery. He was preceded in death 

by his wife, Helen Price Flannery. 
He was ordained in 1968 and had served in local churches, including Pleasant View Baptist, Freedom Baptist, Poplar Grove and 

Pleasant Run, and had served at Southern Heights Baptist Church in Danville for 14 years.
Survivors include his son, Sonny Flannery of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Dorothy Huffman of Cummins, Ga., and Mildred Rankin of 

Dawsonville, Ga.; a brother, Myrl Flannery of Stanford; four sisters, Annette Caudill, Sue Robbins and Betty Price, all of Crab Orchard,

Born Oct. 28, 1928, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Mattie L. Conner Pence. She was a homemaker and 
former associate of Pence and Gilliland Insurance Co., a member of Stanford Christian Church, Lady Lions Club and Fort Logan 
Hospital Auxiliary.

She was the widow of Joe W. Gilliland.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Gilliland of Stanford and Victor Gilliland of San Antonio, Texas; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; 
and a step great-grandchild.

Luther Ray Godbey, 70, Somerset Road passed away Tuesday August 20, 2002 at his residence.  He was born May 26, 1932 in Ansel, 
KY. The  son of the late Howard C. Godbey and Ada (Dick) Godbey. He was a CPL in the US Army serving in the Korean War and 
retired from Crane Company.
He is survived by his wife, Frances (Cornett) Godbey, whom he married on September 16, 1963; two daughters, Lavonna Adams, 
Waynesburg, KY. and Cheryl Roy, Liberty, KY.; three sisters, Deloris Murry, Palm Springs, CA., Lillie Moore, Cincinnati, OH. 
and Margaret Burton, Cincinnati, OH.; four brothers, Oral Godbey, Peoria, IL., Bill Godbey, Cincinnati, OH., Roy Godbey, Arlington, 
KY.,and Ralph Godbey, Danville, KY.; 2 grandchildren, Michael Adams and Tanya Adams; 2 great grandchildren; Corey Adams and 
Hayden Abston.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Godbey. Funeral services will be at Noon Thursday August 22, 2002 
at the Chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Brother Ralph E. Godbey and Rev. Chester Cornett officiating. Burial will be in 

Double Spring

She was a former employee of Cimarron Carriages with Norfolk Southern and a member of Blue Lick Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Donald Hasty.

Survivors include a son, Edwin Hasty of Junction City; three daughters, Sandra Hasty of Danville, Dona Brownell of Caney, Okla., and 
Diana Williams of Sunburst, Mont.; a sister, Dotty Hensley of Memphis, Tenn.; and a brother, Jimmy Peek of Moreland; five grandchildren; 
and 12 great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Hasty and Donald Bruce Hasty Jr.

for 34 years, and a member of Shelby Christian Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was an 
Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Judy Wall Hatter; a son, Jimmy Hatter of Shelbyville; a daughter, Stacia 
Taylor of Haines City, Fla.; five brothers, Keith Hatter of Lexington, George Hatter of Shelbyville, Bruce, Steve and Brent Hatter, all of

Fairview Baptist Church. He also was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion 
and Masonic Lodge 60.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Lyons Henderson; two sons, Rual Henderson of Lincoln County and Rudy Henderson of Danville; 
three daughters, Eljene Caudill of Garrard County, Joyce Simpson of Crab Orchard and Melissa Rice of Waynesburg; three brothers, 
Linville and Edwin Henderson, both of Eubank, and Lilbern Henderson of Lincoln County; three sisters, Geneva Sanders of Stanford, 
Stella Ard of Pulaski County and Marlene Sargent of Burgin; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Born Dec. 21, 1918, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James and Thelma Henry Hughes.

He was a farmer, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of First Church of God, Cynthiana. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hughes; one brother, Jay Plummer Johnson of Hustonville; one sister, Ruth Keith of Hustonville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was proceeded in death by a son, William Ronnie Plummer.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Rev. Gary McQueen. Burial will be in Sims Cemetery with military honors by Caswell Saufley Post, American Legion.

MORELAND- Sam Marlowe, 80, of Danville, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.  Born Aug. 3, 1921, in Norma, Tenn., he was a son of the late Matt and Lidia M. Marlowe. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was a retired engineer for Southern Railroad, where he worked for 41 years.

He was a graduate of Moreland High School and a member of Hustonville Masonic Lodge No. 184. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Fox Marlowe, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Steele, who raised him from childhood.  Survivors include a son, Sammy Marlowe of Danville; two daughters, Betty Marlowe Branham of Danville and Barbara Marlowe Rush of Hamilton, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

  Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church by the Revs. Quentin Scholtz and Don Benningfield. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.  Visitation is after 9:30 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church. Born Sept. 7, 1930, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Luther and Pearl Reynolds McMullin. He was a retired manager and meat cutter at Danville Super Key Market, a graduate of Hustonville High School and a member of Moreland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B. McMullin; a son, Lewis McMullin Sr. of Salvisa; a daughter, Carol Ann Case of Junction City; two sisters, Virginia McGirr and Shirley McMullin, both of Moreland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was an employee of Zayres in Indianapolis for 25 years, a 1948 graduate of McKinney High School, and member of New Salem Baptist Church and the Lincoln County Alumni Association.

Survivors include a son, Howard C. Montgomery of Greenwood, Ind.; two daughters, Barb Lawson of Franklin and Mary Duncan of Indianapolis; two brothers, Teddy Luster and Frank Luster, both of Indianapolis; four sisters, Juanita Marr and Sharon Jones, both of Indianapolis, Phyllis Frederick of New Salem and Martha Brown of Stanford; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Malinda Ellen Saylor,  Age 72, of 4005 St. Lawrence St., Cincinnati, OH., formerly of Crab Orchard, died Monday, May 7 at her residence.  She was born March 14, 1918 in Garrard County to the late Mack Thomas Mullins and Elsie VanWinkle Mullins.  She was a housewife and a member of the Free Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Survivors include five sons, John Saylor of Florida, Solomon Saylor, Georgia,  Mitchell, Robert and Orville Saylor, all three of Cincinnati, OH.; one daughter, Mary Sue Bralovich of Columbus, OH.; two brothers, Melvin Mullins of Cincinnati and Bobby Mullins of Newport; two sisters, Allie Woodall of Stanford and Mattie Wardlow of Crab Orchard; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.  Funeral services were held Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home by Bro. STANFORD - Jesse Junior Shearer, 72, of Rice Lane, died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1932, in Hubble, he was a son of the late Frank and Viola M. Lay Shearer. He was a farmer and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Freeman Shearer; a son, Eugene Shearer of Stanford; two daughters, Deborah Garrison of Winchester and Diana Johnson of Stanford; four sisters, Emarine Cox of Lancaster and Mae Cornelius, Josephine Phillips and Jean Ledford, all of Stanford; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Johnny Adamson. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

CRAB ORCHARD - Edna Mae Lamb Shelton, 74, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 21, 1930, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late James and Ella Portwood Lamb.

She was a member of Church of God and the widow of Harmon Shelton Sr.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Harris and Ruth L. Fields, both of Crab Orchard; a sister, Mildred Johnson of Lancaster; four brothers, James Lamb Jr., Edward Lamb and Curtis Lamb, all of Crab Orchard, and Roy Lamb of Nicholasville. She was preceded in death by a son, Harmon Shelton Jr.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Ray Shelton, 71, of Milan, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born August 21, 1933 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky the son of Dudley and Louisa (Muncie) Shelton.

He had been married to Ruth Ann Guard, Eva Siefert and Sue Bearden.

Survivors include four daughters, Kathy (David) Shaw of Versailles, Vera (Jerry) Bearden of Franklin, Dora (Doug) Price of Milan, Raye Jean Shelton of Holton; three brothers, Lawrence Shelton of Cincinnati, Phillip Shelton of Burkesville, Kentucky, Billy Shelton of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Dora Brunner and Lela Mae Bishop both of Nicholasville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three stepsons and one stepdaughter. Mr. Shelton was retired from Pierce-Hollowell Company. He was a member of the American Legion and as a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26, 11-1 p.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church.

Funeral services will follow visitation, 1 p.m. with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the New Craven Cemetery, Milan with military graveside rites conducted by the Milan Legion Post #235.

Betty M. Farris Simpson; 73, of Ky. Hwy. 643 in Waynesburg, died Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born May 15, 1927 in Rockcastle County, a daughter of the late Irvin Farris and Nancy Bishop Farris Burdine. She was the former owner of Simpson Grocery in the Ottenheim community of Waynesburg, a homemaker, and a farmer. She was a member of Waynesburg Church of Christ. She is survived by three sons, Curtis (and Sharon) Simpson of Waynesburg, Danny (and Beverly) Simpson of Waynesburg, and Harrison Simpson of Eubank; one sister, Mary Simpson of Crab Orchard; two half brothers, George Burdine of Crab Orchard and Genis Burdine of Ottawa, Ky.; two half sisters, Edna Smallwood and May Etta Smith, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude Simpson, who died April 10, 1984. Funeral services will be Monday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Randy Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in St. Sylvester Cemetery in Ottenheim. Wayne Simpson – 68, Stanford, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Fort Logan Hospital. Born July 4, 1932, in West Chester, Penn., he was the son of the late Carl and Sarah Petrey Simpson.

 He was a disabled veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during Korean War. Survivors include a son, Richard  Simpson, Huntsville, Tenn.; three brothers, Ralph Simpson, New Richmond, Ohio, Harold Simpson, Dayton, Ohio, and George Simpson, Lynn, MA; and a grandchild, Emily Simpson, Athens, Ga.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Herbert Simpson. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Somerset Undertaking Company with Rev. Bill Meece officiating. Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 38.

Sims of Cincinnati; a son, Preston Sims of Cincinnati; a daughter, Darlene (and John) Zickafoose of North Canton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Justin, Jason and Brittany Zickafoose, all of Ohio; one brother, Elmer Lawson of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and two sisters, Melda Norton of Cincinnati and Grace Crutchfield of Columbus, Ohio.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Etta Lawson. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 1 at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford, Ky. with Bro.  He was a retired farmer and had worked at Garrard County Stockyards. He was  the oldest member of Drakes Creek Baptist Church and the widower of Lillian Campbell Smith. Survivors include a son, Doug Smith of Stanford; a daughter, Roberta Belcher of Cincinnati; three brothers, Harmon and Earl Smith, both of Lancaster, and Roy Smith of Preachersville; two sisters, Lucille Price of Crab Orchard and Jewell Anderson of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Born Aug. 9, 1943, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Bernie Todd Sr. and Lora Reynolds Todd. He was a member of Central Heights First Church of God, Columbus, Ind., and a retired employee of Golden Casting Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Stevens Todd; three step-sons, Roger Haste and Ronnie Haste, both of Eubank, and Robert Haste of Somerset; four sisters, Hester Smith of Crab Orchard, Edith Powers of Kennesaw, Ga., Doris McQueen of Cumberland, and Wanda Baker of Lockland, Ohio; four brothers, Manford Todd of Columbus, Ind., Milford Todd of Dallas, Ga., Raymond Todd of Crab Orchard, and Robert Todd of Hamilton, Ohio; and seven step-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 2, 1924, in Kings Mountain, he was a son of the late Oscar C. and Elizabeth Lee Vest. He was a retired employee of Kentucky Utilities Co., a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He was a Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ina Criswell Vest; a son, James Michael Vest of San Diego; a stepson, Raymond Wilkerson Jr. of New Orleans; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.  Survivors include his wife, Mary Ethel Gourley Wahl; for sons, Douglas Wahl of Cincinnati, Dwight Wahl and Dwane Wahl, both of Kings Mountain, and Dexter Wahl of Demossville; two daughters, Sonja Walls of Cincinnati, and Valerie Brumett of Waynesburg; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Locust Grove Baptist Church by John Dean and Gary Phelps. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets, by the Revs. Herman Bradshaw and Phillip Yates. Burial will be in Turnersville Cemetery in Hustonville.

He died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital Extended Care Center.

Born Aug. 3, 1901, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Millard and Carrie Reed Williams. He was a farmer and also worked for Southern Railroad for 19 years. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth, Arlis D. and Sherman Williams, all of Stanford; two daughters, Dessie B. Reynolds and Ivagene Ernest, both of Stanford; a brother, Forrest Williams of Stanford; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Creota Greer Williams; two sons, Carl and Wonza Williams; and a daughter, Wilma Jenkins.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at Locust Grove Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

He was a mechanic at Corning Glass Works and Phillips Lighting, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church. He is a former Junction City police officer, city council member and police judge. He was a barber in Danville and Lexington, and he owned the Grill Restaurant in Stanford.

Survivors include his wife, Lida Gentry Young; two daughters, Betty J. Lay of Danville and Barbara J. Warner of Deep Creek; three sons, Jackie D. Young of Junction City, Jerry T. Young of Perryville, and Gene Young of Danville; a sister, Eula Lee Cleaversey of Cookeville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Louanna Walls Young; two daughters, Debbie Reed of Moccasin and Jamie Manuel of McKinney; two brothers, Donald Young of Ohio and Frank Young of Danville; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Charlie Buck" Young, and two daughters, Gladys and Glenda Young.
