CRAB ORCHARD - Chesnie Saylor Robbins Abbott, 91, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday at her home.

Born July 3, 1913, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William G. and Alice Slusher Saylor.
She was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church, Women's Missionary Union and Berean Bible Class.
She was the widow of Clinton Abbott.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, including U.S. Saylor of Stanford, Grace Harness, Phyllis Bodner and
Bennie Reynolds, all of Crab Orchard.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Watts Chapel Baptist Church by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in
Crab Orchard Cemetery
.

Pallbearers will be George Crawford, U.S. Saylor, Gerald Turner, Ron Sloan, John Harness and Bobby Bodner.
Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Nunn, Dicky Ledford Jr., Ralph Baker, Steve Bullock, Paul Barrett and Delbert
Hawkins. McKnight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vernon C. Anderson, age 63, of 140 Mulberry Street, Burgin, died Tuesday, January 31, 1995 in Harrodsburg.
Born May 31, 1935 in Perryville, he was the son of Mrs. Rose Roney Anderson, Danville, and the late Willard Vernon
Anderson. He had been employed as a psychiatric aide for the Veteran's Administration Hospital on Leestown Road,
Lexington and had served in the U. S. Navy.
Survivors, besides his mother, include: his wife, Susie Marie Bow Anderson; two sons, Stephen Vernon Anderson and
Stanley Ray Anderson, both of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, John Anderson and Lorne Anderson, both of Danville;
and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Steve
Coss officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday until time of the service.

STANFORD - Amy Lynn Davis Bender, 26, of Waynesburg, died Saturday at her home.

Born Oct. 16, 1978, in Somerset, she was the daughter of Joel Davis of Stanford and Claudia Hogue of Taswell, Ind.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church.

Other survivors include her husband, Charles Bender of Waynesburg; two sons, Chance C. Bender and Christopher C.
Bender, both of Waynesburg; and two sisters, Amanda J. Marples of English, Ind., and Alesha S. Russell of Taswell, Ind.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Salem Baptist Church by Travis Farris. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home and after noon Wednesday at the church.

WAYNESBURG - Amy Bender, 26, was found unresponsive at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at her residence on Ky. 1247, state
police said. Bender was pronounced dead at 9:42 p.m. by Lincoln County Deputy Coroner Shane Young. An autopsy was
conducted, and results will be available in about six weeks. The cause of death has not been determined. State police are investigating.

BICKNELL, Virginia S.                                                              d. 01 May 2005

Virginia S. Bicknell, 86, of Bruce Court, died Sunday at Charleston Health Care Center.

Born March 10, 1919, in Hustonville, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Belle Hall Stephenson. She was a retired legal
secretary, a member of First Church of God and the widow of Charles E. Bicknell.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Elaine Travillian of Danville; two sisters, Irene
Griffiths of Danville and Jeannine Sharp of Danville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Private services will be
held at a later date.

BORDES, Tammy Shelton                                                                    d. 24 April 2005

CRAB ORCHARD - Tammy Lynn Shelton Bordes, 42, of Hustonville, formerly of the Woodstock community, died Sunday
at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born July 29, 1962, in Salem, Ind., she was the daughter of Carol Hauger Shelton of Kings Mountain and the late Chester Shelton.

Other survivors include three daughters, Jennifer D. Barrett of Stanford, Amelia K. Akers of Smithville, Tenn., and Chelsea C.
Bordes of Smithville; two sons, Robert E. Duncan of Oneida, Tenn., and Joshua A. West of Homosassa, Fla.; two sisters, Trish
Caudill of Stanford and Peggy Lunsford of Hustonville; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Barrett.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Vola Brown. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

DRY RIDGE - Melvin Bowman, 85, of Williamstown, formerly of Lincoln County, died Sunday at Grant Manor Health Care
Center in Williamstown.

He was the son of the late Chester and Ann Jones Bowman.

Survivors include a sister, Gretchen Balder of Covington; and cousins in Lincoln County.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home
 is in charge of arrangements.

Devona Nicole Boyd, 19, of Meadowbrook Road, Stanford, died Saturday at her home.

Born Aug. 31, 1985, in Lexington, she was the daughter of David and Debbie Brown Boyd of Stanford. She was a senior at
Lincoln County High School and an employee of Dairy Queen. She was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Other survivors include a half sister, Sheila Dealy of Peoria, Ill; a half brother, John R. Boyd of Peoria; grandparents, Virginia
Brown and James W. Boyd, both of Stanford; and a step-grandfather, James Anderson of Stanford.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Eugene Brooks, 81, of Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation, died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Ephraim McDowell
Regional Medical Center,Danville.
 

Born June 12, 1923, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Willie and Mary Reed Brooks. He was the widower of
Evelyn Boyd Brooks.

He was a farmer and former employee of the Anderson-Spillman Mill and was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church.
 

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Walls of Seminole, Fla., Debbie Brooks of Danville and Mary Pulliam of Harrodsburg;
a brother, Jimmy Brooks of Danville; two sisters, Dorothy Vineyard of Stanford and Halline Franklin of Danville; five
grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.  

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 5, at Bellevue Cemetery. Danville.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CRAB ORCHARD - Ernest C. Brown, 88, of Crab Orchard, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital of Lexington.

Born March 9, 1917, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Will and Oma Singleton Brown.

He was an Army veteran and a retired carpenter for the Kroger Company.

Survivors include his wife, Jewell Simpson Brown of Versailles; two sons, Billy C. Brown of Louisville and Gail Brown of
Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Marilyn Pope of Versailles; four brothers, Delmus Brown of Mt. Dora, Fla., Carl Brown,
Donald Brown and Bobby Brown, all of Crab Orchard; two sisters, Ann Hood and Mary Napier, both of Crab Orchard;
six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Danny Lamb. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Church of
Christ Cemetery.

BURRIS, Lucille Murphy                                                                       d. 29 May 1996                    
Lucille Murphy Burris, 85, Perryville Road, died Wednesday at Country Place, Lexington. Born Nov. 10, 1910, she was the
daughter of the late Dr. W.T. and Lillian Sams Murphy.

She was a retired teacher in Lincoln County and attended Eastern Kentucky University and Eastern Teachers College. She was
a member of Hustonville Christian Church and was the widow of El Burris.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Morgan, Lexington; two sisters, Margie Hanson of Nicholasville and Sara Burns of Franklin,
Ohio; and two grandchildren. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in
Hustonville Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday. Memorials may go to Hustonville Christian Church.

BURTON, Rose L.                                                                           d. 26, April 2005

MORELAND - Services for Rose L. Burton, 71, of Fairground Road, Stanford, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral
Home by the Rev. Marvin Hatton. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 10, 1933, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Burton Davis. She was a homemaker
and attended Charity First Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie Burton; a son, Danny Burton of Lancaster; seven daughters, Flossie West of Danville,
Ann Hargis and Brenda Southerland, both of Hustonville, and Mary Burton, Libby Flores, Carrie Denson and Jean Adams,
all of Stanford; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy D. Burton.

Pallbearers will be Daniel and Josh Cheek, Ronald and Ricky Denson, William Adams and Mike Epley.

Billy Cheek, 30, 2541 Maywood Road, Stanford, husband of Christy Joann Carter Cheek, originally from Harrodsburg, died
Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after an illness.

Born Oct. 16, 1974 in Danville, he was a son of James and Sandra Kaye Hornsby Cheek of Stanford.

He was a farmer, a member of the Highland Area Station 8 Fire Department, and a member of the Baptist faith. 

In addition to his wife, survivors  include: one son, Jacob Harlow, and one daughter, Karringan Harlow, both of Stanford;
three brothers, James Cheek and Louis Cheek, both of Florida, and Bobby(Tina) Cheek of Stanford; two sisters, Mary
(Edward) Warmouth and Joyce (Eddie) Padgett, both of Stanford, and four nephews.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Hedgeville Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Lester Tirey officiating.
Burial was in the
Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Pallbearers were Troy and Troy Creg Gingrass, Danny Glass, Roger Pullum, Kyle Cupp, Chris Cross and Billy Miller.

Arrangements were handled by the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

STANFORD - Services for Eula Young Cleversy, 73, of Crossville, Tenn., formerly of Stanford, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday
at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Rob Cox. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Sunday at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.

Born May 14, 1931, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Celia Hale Young. She was a former employee
of Union Underwear Co. in Campbellsville. She was a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Everett Cleversy; two sons, Floyd Simmons of Crossville and Tommy Cox of Lebanon; a daughter,
Judy Isaacs of Campbellsville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

MORELAND - Jake Coffman, 88, of Middleburg, died Saturday at Stanford House in Stanford. Born Oct. 5, 1909, in Casey
County, he was the son of the late Spilman and Mary Catherine Pemberton Coffman.

He was a farmer and attended the Pentecostal Church of God. He was the widower of Mattie Pemberton Coffman.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Greer of Middleburg and Sue King of Junction City; one son, Charles Coffman
of Hustonville; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles White. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Laura Mae Cook, 29, 1136 Bohon Road, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 near her residence as a result of a tornado. 

Born January 31, 1974 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Walter Arbie Begley and Arbedella Susan Adams Begley. 

She was a 1992 graduate of Lincoln County High School and an employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Danville.

Survivors include: her husband, Charles Cook, Lancaster; one son, Jonathon Christopher Cook, Danville; two brothers; William
and Robert Begley, OH; two sisters, Barbara Elaine Johnson, OH, and Susan Elaine Johnson, Stanford. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 14, at the Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Bro. Max Hester officiating.
Burial was in the Maretburg Cemetery, Rockcastle County.

Pallbearers were Frankie Harris, Joe Wilson, Kenny Wilson, Dale Smith, Michael Naylor and Charles Ervin.

WAYNESBURG - Arvel Cornett, 67, of Lakeland, Fla., died Wednesday at Lakeland Hospital.

Born Oct. 24, 1937, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late John D. and Cinda Cornett Cornett. He was a retired plumber.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wilham Cornett of Lakeland; a daughter, Bobby Jo Cornett Ison of Stanford; a stepdaughter, 
Debra Ashford of Harrodsburg; a brother, Marvin Cornett of Snowcamp, N.C.; a sister, Emma Jean Munday of Florida; and 
five grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Chester Cornett. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Harold Dewayne Dennis, 32, of Carman Lane, Stanford, died Saturday November 8, 2003 as a result from injuries sustained in a
traffic accident.
 

Born April 25, 1971 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Harold “Tommy” and Elsie Jean Riley Dennis of Harrodsburg. 

He was a plumber with Hayslett Mechanical Contractors, Inc., attended the Mercer Church of Christ, enjoyed watching auto racing,
fishing, boating, camping, and spending time with his family.  

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Diana Roach Dennis, Stanford; maternal grandmother Elsie Riley, Harrodsburg;
one daughter, Kayla Marie Sizemore, Stanford; one son, Corey Daniel Dennis, Stanford, one brother, Tommy Joseph Dennis, Harrodsburg;
and one sister, Tammy Jean (Jorg) Potts, Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Joseph Daniel "J.D." Riley. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Mike
Justice officiating. Burial will be in Bruner’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Carl Thomas Dennis, Danny Potts, Andy Potts, Kevin Cooley, John Cooley, David Hatfield, Paul Hensley, and

STANFORD - A memorial service for Kenneth E. DeWit Sr., 74, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's
Witnesses, Stanford Congregation, by Tom Gonzales.

He died Monday at his home. Born July 21, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of the late John R. and Ethel Jennings DeWit.

He was a carpenter, an Army veteran, and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was the widower of Lucille DeWit.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth DeWit Jr. of Delphi, Ind., and Jonathan DeWit, John R. DeWit and Clarance W. DeWit, all of
Stanford; two daughters, Janet Brookfield and Connie Worthington, both of Stanford; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a son, Kenneth Ray DeWitt Spurlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William Dishon of the East End died Monday night of a complication of troubles following a long illness. Surviving him are his wife
|and several children.

Services and burial took place in the Ephesus Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2:30.  (This is William F. Dishon, husband of Ella

STANFORD - Services for Robert Fenzel Dozier, 78, of Stanford, formerly of Silver Grove, were today at Buffalo Springs Cemetery
in Stanford by Cabell Francis II. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

He died Tuesday at Stanford House nursing home. Born Aug. 8 1926, in Stanford, he was a son of the late George S. and Katherine
Fenzel Dozier. He was a teacher and school administrator for 35 years in Silver Grove Schools in Campbell County. He was an Army
veteran of World II.

Survivors include a one brother, George S. Dozier of Lexington; and nephews, including Steve Dozier of Stanford. Spurlin Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.

LANCASTER - Services for Catherine Dunn, 45, of West Buford Street, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Paulding
Street. Burial will be in Duncantown Cemetery.

She was a daughter of Frances Watkins Richey, who's name was incorrect in Thursday's paper, and a stepdaughter of Wilburn Richey,
both of Stanford.

She was member of Clifton Baptist Church, Danville. Visitation is noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Spurlin Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Ann F. Estridge, 74, of 844 Beaumont Avenue, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Haggin Memorial Hospital. 

Born October 26, 1928 in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Katherine Fields.

She was a secretary for Mercer County High School for many years and a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church. 

Survivors include: her husband, Ernest G. Estridge, Harrodsburg; two daughters, Laura Freeman, Harrodsburg, and Melissa
Suter, Louisville; one grandson, Will Freeman, Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Fields, and a
sister, Frances Caminish. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

WAYNESBURG - James W. "Jimmy" Foley, 52, of Waynesburg, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Feb. 2, 1953, in Boyle County, he was the son of Lilburn and Thelma Stonecypher Foley.

He was an employee of Southern Railroad and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

Additional survivors include his wife, Sandy Foley; and two step-sons, Ryan Woodall of Waynesburg and Andrew Woodall 
of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a son, James N. Foley.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant View Baptist by Aaron Hogue and Mark King. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynville and Nathan Smith, Pat Stonecypher, Gary, Jerry and Michael Foley, Brent Russell and Ronnie Ballard.

Center in Lexington.

Born Feb. 27, 1955, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of Raymond Miller and the late Pauline Turner Miller. She was a former
certified nursing assistant for McDowell Home Health. She was a member of Union Chapel Holiness Church in Brodhead.

Survivors include her husband, Alan Franklin; a daughter, Angela Jean Benedict of Crab Orchard; a step-daughter, Stephanie Bohomic
of Tama, Iowa; a sister, Barbara Reynolds of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Jimmy Miller and Rodney Miller, both of Crab Orchard;
a granddaughter; and a step-granddaughter.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Union Chapel Holiness Church by Jack Hodge and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in

Thelma L. Murphy Franklin, 74, of Bowen Road, Stanford, died Monday, January 20, 2003 at Ephraim McDowell Regional 
Medical Center in Danville.  

Born June 17, 1928, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late James and Jenny Davis Murphy.  She was a machinist, 
retired from Signet Company.  

 Survivors include: her husband, William F. Franklin, Stanford; two sons, James W. Franklin, Danville, and Tony Franklin, 
Stanford; three daughters, Elizabeth Jane Cochran and Diane F. Rogers, both of Junction City, and Barbara S. Neice, Lexington; 
two sisters, Hazel Bugg, Harrodsburg, and Gladys Leonard, Salem, IN; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 22, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, with Rev. Roy Franklin. Burial was in 
Bellevue Cemetery, Danville

GOOCH, Thomas L.                                                                               d. 30 Mar 2005

STANFORD - Services for Thomas L. Gooch, 85, of the Goshen community, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Spurlin Funeral 
Home by Todd Gooch and the Rev. Billy Estes. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born July 30, 1919, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James E. and Zella Holtzclaw Gooch. He was a dairy farmer 
for 50 years and a member of Goshen Christian Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific 
Theater.

He attended Iowa State University, was chairman of the board of InterCounty Energy and a director of First Southern National 
Bank. He was a former director of Lincoln County Soil Conservation District, Lincoln County Farm Bureau, Lincoln County 
Livestock Improvement District, Lincoln County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Lincoln County Fire Protection District 
and Kentucky Artificial Breeding Association. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion 
Caswell Saufley Post 18.

Survivors include his wife, Retta L. Gooch of Stanford; a son, Jerry Gooch of Stanford; a daughter, Rosemary Carruba of 
Winchester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ballard, Jess Correll, Kenny Stamper, Jim Jacobus, Luke Silverthorn, Dan Grigson and H.R. Saufley.

Honorary pallbearers are David Gooch, Lewis Hampton, James Hicks, Clayton Watts, Gordon DeShon, Paul DeShon, Donald 
Sears, Leo Hill and Steve Sego.

Lyona Lucille Howe Griffin, 76, of Bellview Street, Junction City, died Wednesday, September 13, 1995 at Harrodsburg 
Health Care.     She was born February 15, 1919 in Scott County, daughter of the late Raymond and Susan Elizabeth Clifton 
Howe. She was a housewife and a member of the Junction City United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Joe Willis Griffin, Harrodsburg, and Chris J. Griffin, Junction City; two daughters, Nickie Sue 
Thompson, Junction City, and Sheree Griffin Kidd, Danville; two brothers, Marvin Howe, Richmond, IN, and Larry Howe, 
Georgetown; two sisters, Lois Lynn, Lexington, and Dorothy Millington, Bakersfield, CA; 12 grandchildren and four great 
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 15, at 1 p.m. at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville, with the Rev. Donnie 
Releford officiating. Burial was in the Junction City cemetery.

Services for Jim Will Hampton, 89, of Dry Ford Road, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Danville Church of God by the Revs. Ernest |
Fields Jr. and Floying Thompson. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. He died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional 
Medical Center.

He was a horse show farrier at local and surrounding county fairs.

Pallbearers will be William and Jason Hampton, Kevin and Brian Wren, Jeff Goodin, Chris and Greg Coffman and John Yates.

Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Jackson, Norman Godbey, Jim Davis, Johnny Roney, Jack Bosley and Shirley and Elmer Richards.

SHELBYVILLE - Bill Hanson, 74, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He worked as district superintendent for Kentucky Utilities for 45 years. He was a member of Shelby Christian Church and 
Franklin Masonic Lodge 28, and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine Hanson of Shelbyville; a stepdaughter, Judith Morris of Louisville; and a sister, Betty Lou 
Musselman of Lexington.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Funeral Home by Dave Hamlin. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery with military rites.

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Billy Dale Harness, 62, were 1 p.m. today at McKnight Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount 
Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

He died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born Dec. 17, 1942, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late James H. and Maude C. 
Rogers Harness.

He was a former employee of Lincoln County Road Department and a member of Sword Deaf Baptist Church in Mason, Ohio.

Survivors include two sons, Anthony D. Harness and James C. Harness, both of Lancaster; a daughter, Patricia M. Shelton of 
Lancaster; a stepson, Jay Johnson of Danville; a stepdaughter, Laura F. Broughton of Brodhead; a sister, Bonnie Dyson of Morris, 
Ill.; three brothers, James Harness
of Hamilton, Ohio, Lee Harness of Stanford and Marvin Harness of Crab Orchard; a companion, 
Sheila Taylor of Stanford; a granddaughter; and a step grandson.

Pallbearers were Robert Payne, Delbert Brown, Danny Harness, Jim Watson, Eli Harness and Jeffrey Harness. Honorary pallbearer 
is Billy Taylor.

STANFORD - Services for Mark A. Hensley, 50, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Baptist Church by the 
Revs. Aaron Hogue and Kerry Jones.

Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. He died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born Aug. 14, 1954, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Nancy Hoskins McAninch of Somerset and the late Bennie Hensley. 
He was an area foreman for Duke Energy and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school.

Other survivors include his wife, Kay Collins Hensley; his stepfather, Carnell McAninch; one son, Anthony Hensley of London; 
one daughter, Candice Lee Hensley of Stanford; a sister, Alice Clark of Danville; four brothers, Bennie and Phil Hensley, both 
of Somerset, Wayne Hensley of Perry, Fla., and George Hensley of Burgin; and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Dale Hatter, Dale Kirkpatrick, Keith Reichenbach, Don and Dan Story, Chuck Jacobs, Charlie Lewis and 
Wes Cornett.

STANFORD - Bernice Shelton Hester, 74, of Waynesburg, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 10, 1930, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Edith Singleton Shelton. She was a retired employee 
of Corning Glass Works in Danville and the widow of Ralph "Paddle" Hester.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Hester of West Liberty and Bruce Hester of Stanford; two brothers, Gary Shelton of Stanford and 
Kenneth Shelton of Corydon, Ind.; a sister, Wanda Cornelius of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by Vola Brown. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny and Donnie Gilliam, Steven Swift, David Simpson, Bill Demrow and Troy Gringas. Honorary pallbearer is

SCIENCE HILL - Charles ``Wayne'' Hixon, 62, of Eubank, died Saturday at Columbia Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born July 25, 1936, in Hustonville, he was a son of the late Fred Hixon and Louise Ellis. He was a retired manager for Independent 
Stave Mill.

Survivors include his wife, Regina Renner Hixon; a daughter, Debbie Whitis of Somerset; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by the Rev. A. Atwood. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Margaret W. Huff, 83, of Danville, died Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

Born May 13, 1920 in Rockwood, TN, she was the daughter of the late James and Katie J. McKinney Williams. She was the 
widow of the late Gerald DeNise and the late Mike Huff.  

She was a 1939 graduate of McKinney High School, a 1949 graduate of Deaconess Hospital Nursing School, Cincinnati, OH, 
and served as Assistant and Director of Nursing at Kentucky State Hospital.

She was also a former RN at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Danville and Pattie A. Clay Hospital, Richmond, for several years 
and worked as Maternal and Child Health Consultant for the Department of Human Resources for a number of years.

She was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church.  

Survivors include one daughter, Katherine Aldridge, Kitts Hill, OH; one son Gerald DeNise, Jr., MI; eight grandchildren; 14 
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James G. and John A. Williams, 
and one sister, Ann Elizabeth Mobley.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Joe Meunch 
officiating.  Burial will be in the
Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.  

Pallbearers will be David Miracle, Steven Miracle, Aaron Austin, David W. DeNise, William DeNise, Jim Ed Williams and Dr. 
Hugh “Sam” Williams.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Geraldine Hill Hunt, 72, of Shakertown Road, Danville, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at her residence.

Born Jan. 9, 1931, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ethel B. Barlow Hill. She was the widow of 
Carlos Hunt .

She was an employee of American Greetings Company and a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, 
the visitation program and traveled with Lucky Agers Senior Citizens Group from the church.  

Survivors include: two sons, Ray Hunt, Virginia Beach, VA and Woody Hunt of Lebanon, TN; three daughters, Carolyn 
Noel and Janice Prewitt, both of Danville, Judy Sanders, Harrodsburg; two brothers, Billy Hill and Darrell Hill, both of 
McKinney; five sisters, Barbara Adams, Nicholasville, Norma Warner, Moreland, and Joann Devine, Brenda Devine and 
Wanda Brock, all of Harrodsburg; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, 
Donald Hill.  

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 12, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rilda Gibson Rhodes. She was the wife 
of Billy J. Hurst.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Bradenton.

She died Thursday at Stanford House nursing home.

Born May 10, 1919, in Pulaski County, she was a daughter of the late Squire and Marjorie Campbell Watts. She was the widow 
of Ralph Jenkins. A member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Darrell Jenkins of Crab Orchard; six daughters, Shirley Byrd of Oneida, Tenn., Elaine Cole of Norwood, 
Ohio, Janith Young of Kings Mountain, Phyllis Young of Waynesburg, and Carol Rogers and Paulette Speigle, both of Indianapolis; 
two brothers, Achilles Watts of Madisonville and Marion Watts of Ashtabula, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph "Eddie" Jenkins.

Born Aug. 7, 1918, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Gracie Mae Patterson Gifford. She was a 
homemaker and a member of McKinney Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Charles "Joe" Kinney of Frankfort; two brothers, John Gifford of Strawberry Plains, Tenn., and 
James Gifford of Garrard County; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Kinney.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim Norman. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Born Nov. 24, 1959, in Lincoln County, he was the son of Noah and Mary Lou Robbins Kirkpatrick of Stanford.

He was a former telephone communications employee and member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Other survivors include a brother, Todd Kirkpatrick of Stanford; and a sister, Jennifer Gover of Stanford.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Baptist Church by Gary King, Chester Cornett and Chris Dalton. Burial will 
be in Fairview Cemetery.

Morgan Lewis, 71, of Ashley Camp Road, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospice Care.

Born February 18, 1932 in Clay County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Ella Powell Lewis. He was the widower of 
Hadgie Henry Lewis, (Died 2002 - File #13)  

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of God.  

Survivors include: three sons, Jerry Morgan Lewis, Dean (Michelle) Lewis, and Roger Lewis, all of Harrodsburg; three brothers, 
Gene (Mildred) Lewis and Gerald (Iva) Lewis, both of Stanford, and Herman (Joann) Lewis, Manchester; three grandchildren, 
Gary Wayne, Deana Michelle and Megan Leann Lewis, all of Harrodsburg.  

Funeral services were held Monday, May 19, at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, with Rev. Floyd Henry officiating. 
Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff Henry, Steve Stinnett, Isaac Colvin, Larry Stinnett, Rusty Stinnett, Tony Henry and Jimmy Henry.

Mae Lucy Logan 80, of Stanford, died Saturday at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Born June 1, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late John and Maggie Gooch. She was a member of 
Bethel AME Church, Boneyville, where she was a missionary and sang with the choir. She was the widow of Lawrence C. 
Logan.

Survivors include two stepsons, James E. Logan and Russell Logan, both of Stanford; 10 grandchildren; and several 
great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel AME Church by the Rev. Oliver Miller. Burial be in Goode Cemetery

HARRODSBURG - Alma Marie Luster, 75, of Central Pike, widow of Amos C. Luster, died Friday at the University of 
Kentucky Medical Center.

Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Lee and Ethel King Kirkpatrick. She was the 
widow of Amos C. Luster.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Pearl Sunday school class.

Survivors include two daughters, Dona J. Proctor of Harrodsburg and Debra Gregston of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Connie 
Kirkpatrick and Teddy Kirkpatrick, both of Harrodsburg; six sisters, Joann Price of Goldsboro, N.C., Ida Peavler of Dayton, 
Ohio, Mayme Purcell of Ridgefield, Calif., Sally Wilhoit of Frankfort, Eunice Deaton of Harlan, and Dora Holt of Harrodsburg;
two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceeded in death by a grandson, Clifton Proctor.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery. 
Visitation is noon until the time of service Monday.

Born Feb. 20, 1914, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late William K. and Margaret Wheeler Lay. She was a 
homemaker and a member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Elly W. Mason; two sons, Jim Mason of Nicholasville and Noah Mason of Muncy, Ind.; five 
daughters, Edith Rowland, Imogene Cornett, Diane Burchett and Debbie Coffman, all of Kings Mountain, and Nancy Bullock 
of Stanford; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, 
Herbert Mason, and a daughter, Rosa Calfee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by Terry Orcutt. Burial will be in Jacobs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be

homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was the widow of John May.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Demaree of Waynesburg and Debbie Bryant of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, 
Bobby Burton of Crab Orchard; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Gary Story. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Born March 11, 1940, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Harlan and Lillie Merritt. He was the husband of Louise 
Shepherd Merritt. A retired farmer, he was a member of Richmond House of Prayer.

Other survivors include one daughter, Christine Ann Fletcher of Richmond; five sisters, Betty Alexander of Berea, Jewell 
Sears and Mildred Poynter, both of Somerset, and Iva Isaacs and Joyce Meadows, both of Paint Lick; and six brothers, 
Tifford Merritt of Paint Lick, Donald Merritt of Lancaster, Oakley Merritt of Somerset, and Wendell Merritt, Denny Merritt 
and Kit Merritt, all of London.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by Owen Moody. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Mrs. Gertrude McKenney, 90, Deep Creek Road, widow of Edward McKenney, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at the James B. 
Haggin Memorial Hospital.  

Born March 17, 1913 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nellie Shear Carrier. She was a homemaker 
and enjoyed working in her garden.  

Survivors include: four sons, John (Mary Jane) McKenney of Lexington, Ted (LouAnna) McKenney of Burgin, Samuel McKenney

was a member of Crab Orchard Church of God, a homemaker and the widow of Leo "Bunk" Naylor.

Survivors include her children, Mary Helen Cummins of Somerset, Loretta Hopkins, Marion Naylor, Rosella Gaither and Linda 
Dyehouse, all of Crab Orchard, Carolyn Hamm of Brodhead and Warren Naylor of Athens, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-
grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virgie Johnson.

She was born in Pulaski, Co., March 29, 1950, daughter of Leslie Hargis and Anna Mar (Greer) Hargis. She was a cashier at 
Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Somerset and a member of Woodstock Baptist Church in Somerset.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Rose, whom she married Dec. 24, 1970, her mother, a daughter, Alisa Rose of 
Waynesburg, three brothers, Rothel Hargis of Science Hill, George Wayne Hargis and Darrell Hargis both of Waynesburg.

She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Wanda Kay Hargis and Katie Sue Hargis.

involved in several farm organizations, community services and church organizations.

and Randall Stull, both of Louisville. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Leonard Stull.

Dudda of Palm Beach, and Frances Simpson of Churchill, Tenn.; three sisters, Mary McKnight of Greenwood, Ind., 
Vedenia Coleman of Stanford and Catherine Osborne of Elmhurst, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren.

former pastor of New Hope Baptist Church. He served in the Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of 
Friendship Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Southerland Terrell; a son, Larry Terrell of Butchertown; a daughter, LaYvonne Puckett of Moreland; 
four sisters, Pearl Pennington of Lafayette, Ind., Hazel Southerland of Moreland, Geneva Blankenship of Maxeys Valley, and Bernice 
Souleyrette of Junction City; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Terrell.

King, Nicholasville, Gregory Lee Thompson, Larry Gene Thompson and Gary Dean Thompson, all of Junction City; three 
brothers, Elwood Randolph, Moreland, Billy Randolph, Harrodsburg, and Jerry Randolph, Lexington; one sister, Mary Elizabeth 
Walls, Junction City; 13 grandchildren.

was the widow of Albert Wheat and Charlie Allen.

She was retired from Corning Glass and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

   Survivors include: five sons, Harold Allen, Earl (Peggy) Allen, and B. C. (Louvenia) Allen, all of Stanford, Johnny (Paulette) 
Allen and Garry (Ann) Allen, both of Danville; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Allen, one  brother, Frank Smith, and one sister, Pauline Kennedy.

  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, at the New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Garry Allen

widower of Mary Saylor Whitaker.

Survivors include a son, Samuel H. Whitaker of Columbus, Ohio; five daughters, Charlene Swope of Stanford, Pauline Wall 
of Danville, Aline Hail of Gilbertsville, Laura R. Durham of Mount Vernon and Loretta Whitaker of Stanford; six grandchildren; 
and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Whitaker; and a daughter, Tamara Whitaker Hammett.

Born Oct. 22, 1909, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Laura Watkins Estridge. She was the 
widow of John C. White.  

She was a retired teacher, having taught 27 years in one-room schools in Preachersville and Walnut Flats, in Crab Orchard and 
in Lynch for U.S. Steel Co. She was a member of Florence Christian Church.  

Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy White Wills of Florence; a brother, Dr. Ernest G. Estridge of Harrodsburg; two grandchildren; 
and two step-grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 28, at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Brad Curry. Burial was in Buffalo 
Springs Cemetery
.  

Pallbearers were Jessie Bowling, Ronnie Gilbert, Jim Estridge, Art Freeman, John White, Roger Meek and Tom Blankenship. 
Honorary pallbearers were Homer Hoskins, Bill Norman, Charles Hackley, Jimmy Howard and Paul Playforth.

CRAB ORCHARD - James R. "Jimmy" Wilburn, 68, of Crab Orchard, died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional 
Medical Center.

Born Dec. 30, 1936, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Rufus and Addie M. Thomas Wilburn. He was a member 
of Watts Chapel Baptist Church and Crab Orchard Masonic Lodge 636 F&AM.

Survivors include his wife, Flonnie Hood Hawkins Wilburn; a daughter, Rose E. Kidwell of Crab Orchard; a son, Danny R. 
Wilburn of Stanford; two stepsons, Jamey Hawkins of Algona, Iowa, and Brian Hawkins of Jasper, Ind.; a brother, Billy 
Wilburn of Crab Orchard; a sister, Bessie Bennett of Crab Orchard; four grandchildren; three grandchildren; and eight 
step grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Wilcher, Mary Alice Harmon                                                      d. 21 Mar 2005

MORELAND - Services for Mary Alice Harmon Wilcher, 85, of McKinney, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral 
Home by Jim Swafford and John Lowery. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Monday at her home. Born March 12, 1920, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late W.H. and Lucy Carson 
Harmon.

She was a former owner and operator of ABC Motel in Perryville, a cook and custodian at McKinney Elementary School, and a 
state ombudsman. She was a member of McKinney Christian Church and the widow of Jessie R. Wilcher.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Robin Wilcher, both of McKinney; a daughter, Carolyn McHolan of Louisville; two sisters, 
Nancy Ewing and Martha Dunn, both of Danville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy and Michael Wilcher, Keith McHolan, James Singleton, Carl Harmon and Byford Hurst. Honorary 
pallbearers are Bobby and Joey Hodge, nieces and nephews. Visitation is    5-9 p.m. today at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.

WILLIAMS, Marsha Fuller                                                                    d. 26 Feb 2005

Marsha Williams, 44, Grist-Mill Road, Stanford, wife of Bill Williams, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at the Ephraim 
McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.  

Born March 12, 1960 in Lexington, she was the daughter of Pauline Maddox Fuller of Lexington and the late Stanley Fuller.  

She was a Lifeline Ministries Evangelist and vocalist, traveling extensively and performing all over the country. She was a 
graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of Southside Christian Church in Harrodsburg.  

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Ann Williams of Lincoln County, and one brother, 
Gene Fuller, also of Lincoln County.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, March 2 at the Southland Christian Church in Lexington with Wayne Smith, 
Sam Stow, Bruce Heller, Byron Jessup, Monte Wilkinson and Brewster McLeod officiating. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.  

Pallbearers were Bret Chamberland, Bruce Williams, Brackie Willoughby, Davey Graham, Donnie Fuller and Larry Moore.
Arrangements were handled by the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Barbara Ellen Chambers Woods, 63, of N. Moreland Place, Moreland, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the Ephraim 
McDowell Regional Medical Center.  

Born March 22, 1939 in Junction City, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clifton and Margaret Elizabeth Boyd Chambers.  

She was a housewife and a member of the Herington Lake Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include: her husband, James L. Woods, Moreland; a daughter, Margie (Bruce) Warner, Perryville; one son-in-law, 
Steve Sanders, Burgin; one brother, Paul (Wanda) Chambers, Danville; four sisters, Betty Peaveyhouse, IN, Darlene Chambers, 
Danville, Charlotte (Don) Showalter, Stevens Point, WI, and Marlene (Dick) Douglas, Stanford; five grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by a daughter, Bernadina Sanders.  

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 9, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Steve VanHook officiating. Burial was 
in
Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Pallbearers were Tony Griffin, Alan Shepherd, Tommy Mallott, Clifton Mallott, Paul Chambers II and Benny Burchett.
