KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Billy M. Adams, 69, of Knoxville, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Sept. 14 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Born Dec. 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Willie J. and Myrtle Hines Adams. He was a truck driver and a member of Pine Hall Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae Adams; four sons, Kenneth Adams of Knoxville, Billy Adams Jr. of Kan., William Adams of Cartersville, Ga., and James Adams of Michigan; two daughters, Janet Lowery of Knoxville and Anita Griffin of Michigan; five brothers, Clifton and James Adams, both of Crab Orchard, Kenny Adams of Liberty, Earl Adams of Frankfort, and Bobby Adams of Norwood, Ohio; two sisters, Lula Mae Howard of Crab Orchard, and Bertha Cahill of Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Home in Knoxville by the Rev. Jeff Taylor. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  (Danville Advocate Messenger)

Shirley Ann Ashley, age 60, of Del Rio, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Anna Bryant, and sister, Billie Blair.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Ashley, of Del Rio; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Donna Ashley, of Eubank, Ky.; Tony and Vicki Ashley, of Somerset, Ky.; Tim and Angela Ashley, of Somerset, Ky.; brothers, Mitchell Bryant Jr. and wife, Gail, of Orange, Tex., and Eugene Bryant and wife, Betty, of Morristown; sisters, Sarah ?Binky? Jacobs and husband, Jack, of Waynesburg, Ky.; Judy Nothstein and husband, Ken, of Eubank, Ky.; Donna Yocum, of Yosemite, Ky.; and Jenny Bryant, of Eubank, Ky.; and loved by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Pike officiating.

The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral.

Family will also receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky .

Funeral services will be he held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, with burial in Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Eubank, Kentucky. Manes Funeral Home in charge

WAYNESBURG - Services for Denver E. Bell, 86, of Kings Mountain, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by David Gambrel. Burial will be in Gooch Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born March 1, 1917, in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Dora Coffey Bell. He was a timber cutter, saw mill operator, farmer and high lines worker. He was a Baptist and attended Kings Mountain Christian Church. He also was a musician, having played fiddle, guitar and banjo. He was the widower of Goldie Lee Bell.

Survivors include a son, Norman Bell of Waynesburg; three daughters, Katie Ray of Lancaster, Lois Grodi of Somerset and Mary Elliott of Waynesburg; a brother, Virgil Bell of Monticello; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roger and Timmy Bell, Randy and Jimmy Grodi, Dwane Masten, Tommy Hilborn and Eddie Rowe. Honorary pallbearers are Marty Bell, Johnny Grodi, Mel Benedict and Ron Terry.

STANFORD;  Roy Richard Beyersdoefer 62, of Jessica Way, Stanford, died Monday September 12 at his home.

A native of Pendleton County, he was born Sept. 5, 1943 to the late Louise Hargett and Roy Richard Beyersdoerfer, Sr. He had been an employee of Tri-K landfill in Stanford for 23 years.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers Noland, Steven & Donnie Beyersdoerfer.

Survivors include his wife Charlcie Dotson Beyersdoerfer; six daughters, Robin Beyersdoerfer of Junction City, Ronda Sears of Aberdeen, OH., Chelisa Foster of McKinney, and Angie Shackleford, Kelly Blount & Kristie Goodin all of Stanford; three sisters, Anita Race of Highland Heights, Ruby McGeorge of New Tazewell, TN., & Linda Miller of Falmouth; six brothers, Ted Beyersdoerfer of Oklahoma, Allen Beyersdoerfer of Ohio, Ronnie, Jim, Dennis, and Robert Beyersdoerfer all of Butler; 17 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Sept. 15) at Fox Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hall officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Brothers will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Bright, of 65 Stone Ave., formerly of New Jersey, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Lincoln Co , Ky., a son of the late Jim Bright and Gertrude Norris Bright, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, Ky., a U.S. Army veteran and a retired construction employee.

He is survived by his wife, Annie L. Allen Bright of the home; one son, Robert Bright Jr. of Newark, N.J.; five sisters, Julia Whitley, Sallie Smith, and Virginia Smith of Lexington, Ky., Annie Bell Ross and Mary Elizabeth Reid of Stanford, Ky.; five grandchildren and his mother-in-law, Martha Allen of Gray Court.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, Ky., with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the Beasley Funeral Home in Fountain Inn. Smith & Smith Funeral Home, Lexington, Ky., is in charge of funeral and burial service in Kentucky.

MORELAND - Services for Egbert Brown, 88, of Hustonville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. James M. Lynn. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

He died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 18, 1911, in Casey County, he was son of the late Clayton and Mary McWhorter Brown. He was a retired farmer and a member of Maxey's Valley Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Randall Brown of Stanford and Bobby Brown of Cincinnati; a daughter, Betty Carmicle of Hustonville; two sisters, Mina Hemminger of Hale, Mo., and Iva Leach of Junction City; two brothers, Austin Brown of Hustonvillle and Hobert Brown of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steven, Randall and Hershell Brown, Billy Joe Leach, Lenville Brown and Bobby Payton.

Honorary pallbearers are Celisa Slay, Teri Brown, Tracy Carmicle and Anna Lee Cross.

Born March 8, 1941, in Lincoln County , he was the son of the late Grace Brown. He was a former employee of Ford Motor Co.

Survivors include three sons, Timmy J. Brown and Jeremy J. "J.J." Reynolds, both of Crab Orchard, and James D. Turner of Lexington; two daughters, Karen A. Brown of Ohio and Sherry L. Warther of Indiana; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Shelby Reynolds. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.

Services for Lucinda Byrd, 43, of Old Schoolhouse Road, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Wendell Douglas. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born Feb. 22, 1961, in Trenton, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Clarence G. and Anna Grace Nunnally Stuck. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Byrd; three daughters, Valarie Orcutt of Stanford, Anna Devine of Gravel Switch and Sylvia Morgan of Liberty; two sons, Brandon and Willie Joe Byrd, both of Danville; two brothers, Robert Nunnally of Wyandotte, MI., and Carl Stuck of Riverview, Mich.; two sisters, Diana McElroy of Danville and Patricia Snyder of Syracuse, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

STANFORD - Bernie Cook Camenisch, 52, died Friday in Danville.

Born April 19, 1953, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy Cook Camenisch. He was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Susan Eriksson of Boulder, Colo., and Carolyn Hughes of Newport News, Va.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by the Rev. Jim Erwin.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home.

STANFORD - Patsy Jean Noel Carrier, 71, of Stanford, died Sunday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Aug. 26, 1934, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Silas and Alpha Beavers Noel. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Troy Carrier and Trevor Carrier, both of Stanford; four brothers, Allen Noel and John Noel, both of Springfield, and Lloyd and Jack Noel, both of Willisburg; five sisters, Elizabeth Keen of Elizabethtown, Nancy Mitchell of Indiana, Sue Whitehouse of Nelson County, Annelle Noel of Springfield and Mary Chambers of Danville; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Steven Willingham. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Keene, Jamie, Kenneth and Aaron Noel, Shane Carrier and Brandon Newton. Honorary pallbearers are Jarrard and Eric Noel and Kevin and David Keene.

Dr. John Carter, 87, 105 John Street, Stanford, died Thursday, June 17, 1999 at his residence.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born August 6, 1911, the son of the late John J. Carter and Mary Riatt Carter.

He was a minister and past president of Campbellsville College, Carter Hall being named after him, and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Stanford. He was a member of the Stanford Rotary Club. He had formerly pastored several churches, including the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.

He had authored several books and was listed in Who's Who of the South and Southwest, and in The Religious Leaders of America.

He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1934, Masters from Southern Baptist Seminary in 1937 and his Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Seminary in 1941.

Survivors include: his wife, Lenora McCurry Mink Carter, Stanford; one son, John Mark (Cindy) Carter, Campbellsville; three daughters, June (Jim) Braden, Danville, CA, Jill McClesky, and Jinny (Tony) Palmerino, both of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Winslow Carter and a sister, Dolla Carter.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Michael James officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Halls Gap.

Pallbearers were Barry Braden, Brian Braden, Brad Braden, Sean Fletcher, Kim Alford and Johnny Kolasa.

Memorials are suggested to Carter Hall in memory of Dr. John Carter, c/o Campbellsville University, 257 Springhill Dr., Campbellsville, KY 42718. Fox Funeral Home, Stanford, was in charge of arrangements.

STANFORD - Janet Coffman, 44, of Hustonville, died Friday at her home.

Born March 19, 1961, in Winterset, Iowa, she was the daughter of Gene and Sara Delk Moore. She was a kindergarten aide at McKinney Elementary, a self-employed cake decorator and a member of Southfork Baptist Church.

Other survivors include her husband, Gary Coffman; two daughters, Melanie and Laura Coffman, both of Hustonville; two brothers, Roy Moore of Hustonville and Scott Moore of Stanford; and a sister, Mary Fakharpour of Lexington.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Revs. Bob Kiper and Mike Mullins. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Mullins, Daniel Moore, Derick Moore, Kayvan Fakharpour, Sasan Fakharpour and William Phillips.

Lorene Smith Coldiron, 65, of 105 Ash Court in Nicholasville, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Thursday, Nov. 20, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

She was the wife of Daniel Coldiron of Nicholasville, whom she married April 4, 1957. The daughter of Buster and Thelma McKinney Smith of Crab Orchard , she was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Lincoln Co. She was a former employee of a hospital specialty company in Nicholasville, where she had worked for nearly 25 years. She was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years; her parents; one son, Danny Ray and his wife, Theresa Coldiron of Nicholasville; a daughter, Rhonda Jean Preston of Nicholasville; a daughter, Joyce Ann Regester of White Lily, Ky.; three sisters, Wanda June Jones of Liberty, Ky., Vivian Weaver of Eubank, Ky., and Norma Smith of Crab Orchard; eight brothers, Lester Smith of Danville, Ed Smith of Crab Orchard, Johnny Smith of Nicholasville, Elby Smith of Crab Orchard, Denver Smith of Waynesburg, Jeff Smith of Stanford, David Smith of Stanford, and Ronnie Smith of Crab Orchard; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Smith.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at McKnight Funeral Chapel in Crab Orchard, with Minister Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial took place at Coldiron Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Danny Coldiron, Johnathon Regester, Jr., Travis, Phillip and Bruce Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Crowley; two sons, Frank and Jack Crowley, both of Stanford; a daughter, Wanda Owens of Stanford; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Gary King. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

LEXINGTON - The Rev. Ora Davis, 91, of Coleman Court, died Friday at his home.

Born in Stanford, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Martha Harding Davis. He was a retired minister and founder of Eastland Church of God and Clays Mill Church of God in Lexington. He also was owner of Ora Davis Plumbing and Heating in Lexington for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Helena Davis; a son, Ora Darryl Davis of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Marcia L. Welch, Kissimmee, Fla.; two stepchildren, Robert Lee Wilson Jr. of Crab Orchard, and Carla Wilson of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Ira Davis of Lexington and Bob Davis of Berea; two sisters, Becky Stinnett and Minnie Davis, both of Lexington; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Davis; and a son, Jerry W. Davis.

Services were today at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. John R. Johnson. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Scott County.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Services for James Peyton Denny, 95, of Maple Street will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by Vola Brown.

Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

He died Tuesday (9 Jan 2001) at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.

Born March 6, 1905, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Frank and Mollie Oaks Denny. He was the widower of Liza Mullins Denny.

He was a retired farmer and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosetta Braley of Crab Orchard and Lucille Muse of Williamstown; four sons, Hobert Denny and Ray Denny, both of Crab Orchard, Leroy Denny of Westchester, Ohio, and Arthur Denny of Norwood, Ohio; two sisters, Secretta Blackwell and Nellie Johnson, both of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clayton, Chris and Chad Denny, Jerry Pingleton, and Calvin and Andrew Denny.

Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. today.

CRAB ORCHARD - Lena Alice Abbott Denney, 79, of Star Avenue, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Feb. 24, 1924, in Monticello, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rona Decker Abbott. She was a member of World Harvest Revival Center in Danville, a senior citizens companion and a former employee of Fort Logan Hospital. She was the widow of Carl Denny.

Survivors include five daughters, Betty Pearl of Mount Vernon, Pauline Thompson of Lancaster, Loretta Gilliam of Taswell, Tenn., and Fran Napier and Juanita Harris, both of Danville; five sons, Billy Denny, Bobby Denny and Carlos Denny, all of Crab Orchard, Carl Denney of Cleves, Ohio, and Dan Denney of Stanford; a brother, Andrew Abbott of Monticello; 40 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree and Grant Bowman. Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

She died Friday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born Sept. 13, 1963, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Amil J. and Mary B. Peek Demrow. She was a preschool teacher, homemaker and a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Elliott; two brothers, Bill Demrow of Waynesburg and Amil "Butch" Demrow of Fort Collins, Colo.; and three sisters, Betty Grimes, Becky Spears and Bobbie S. Benton, all of Stanford.

STANFORD - Services for Joseph Foley, 59, of Lawrenceburg, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. He died Monday in Versailles.

Born Dec. 24, 1945, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Isabelle Hale Foley of Danville and the late Ivan L. Foley. He was a tree trimmer for Bostic Tree Service in Lawrenceburg and Asplundh Tree Co.

Other survivors include his companion, Brenda Rakes Foley of Lexington; a son, Joseph Foley Jr. of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Jaime Eldridge of Waynesburg and Sheila Hafley of Junction City; two brothers, Jessie and Billy Foley of Danville; a sister, Ruby Morrison of Salem, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

He died Tuesday at Lake Cumberland Hospital in Somerset.

Born July 18, 1932, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Willie and Mittie Foley. He was a retired maintenance employee for Christian Appalachian Project in Lancaster for 18 years and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Fay Cornett Foley; two sons, Larry G. Stull of Kings Mountain and William L. Cornett of Florida; a daughter, Jeanie F. Warfield of Eubank; a brother, Melvin D. Foley of Stanford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 5, 1930, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Ersie Brown Coleman. She was a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing Co. and Woodford County Hospital, and a homemaker. She was a member of South Fork Ridge Church in Casey County and attended Stanford Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of Lincoln County Historical Society, Logan's Fort Foundation, Lincoln County Democratic Women's Club, Lincoln County Tourism Commission and Humane Society, and Boyle County Genealogical Association.

She was the widow of Robert Goode and George E. "Blue" Foster.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Goode and James Goode, both of Stanford; two daughters, Luzia Foster of Stanford and Barbara Montgomery of Harrodsburg; two brothers, Clifford Coleman of Stanford and Floyd Coleman of McKinney; a sister, Violet Kidd of Stanford; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rodney and Mike Goode, Buckwheat Gilbert, Eddie Carter, Shelby Lakes, Lincoln Marlow and Johnny Montgomery.

SOUTH ROCKWOOD - Margaret Helen Froehlich, 83, of South Rockwood died Monday at Henry Ford Wyandotte Select Care, Wyandotte, Wayne Co. MI.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock. She will lie in state from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Flat Rock. The Rev. Mark Kipfmiller, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, South Rockwood.  [ Monroe, Co. MI ]

Born April 18, 1920, in Kings Mountain, Ky., she was the daughter of William and Eunice (Ball) Laswell. She married Ernest Froehlich June 16, 1943, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Detroit. He died Jan. 3, 2003.

Surviving are a son, Darryl (Virginia) of Grosse Ile, MI; a daughter, Linda (Thomas) Gaynier of Woodhaven, MI; a brother, Parker of Taylor, MI; two sisters, Cynthia Angelmyer of Bridgeman and Roberta Sue Laswell of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Ella Mae Gooch, 93, of Stanford, died Thursday at Stanford House Nursing Home.

Born May 1, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Carpenter Bailey. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Arvol Gooch.

Survivors include five daughters, Beatrice McCormick of Stanford, Sadie Jones and Daisey Coulter, both of Springfield, Ill., and Katie Cochran and Billie Scott, both of Danville; three sons, Ernest Gooch Sr. and Robert Gooch, both of Danville, and Earl Gooch of Moreland; a step-daughter, Mary Jackson of Norfolk, Va.; 34 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Madison and Cecil Gooch.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Raglin. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are George Reid, Sam Gooch and Jones Coffman. Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ALGONAC - Dulcie M. Greer, 91, of Algonac, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 in Medilodge of  St. Clair.

She was born Jan. 9, 1914 in Lincoln County, Kentucky

She married Estile P. "Bill" Greer on Feb. 7, 1935 in Waynesburg, Kentucky. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1980.

She was a member of the Red Hatters Society, Cherry Beach Seniors and the Algonac Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Dolores (Donald Maledon) Crampton; her son, William (Onda) Greer; her daughter, Carol Cartwright; her son, Robert (Lora) Greer; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreatgrandchild; and her best friend, Phyllis Sharrow.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005 in Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Minister Thomas McNerney will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visiting hours are 6 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. Memorial donations may be made to the Algonac Church of Christ.

Born July 15, 1925, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late James and Minnie Grigsby. He was an employee of R.J. Reynolds Co. and a member of Bethel AME Church in Boneyville.

Survivors include a companion, Alene Wilkinson of Stanford; two daughters, Denise Smith of Indianapolis and Jeanne Wilkinson of Stanford; a son, James Wilkinson of Stanford; a sister, Elizabeth Whitlock of Louisville; and several grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel AME Church by William Jenkins. Burial will be in Goode Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Victor Wilkinson, Wayne Masterson, Mitchell Wilkinson, Marlin Wilkinson, Mitchell Wilkinson II and John Routt Jr.

Martha Whitaker Harris, 96, Gover Street, Somerset, Kentucky , formerly of Hall?s Gap Community of Lincoln County, passed away Saturday, May 29th, 2004 at Somerset nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born March 24th, 1908 in Acorn, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William P. Whitaker and Maggie Boyd Whitaker. She was a seamstress for Mercer Dress in Burgin, Kentucky and a member of the Denham Street Baptist Church, Somerset, Kentucky.

She is survived by two sisters; Melda Whitaker Sears and Vella Cubia, both of Somerset, Kentucky: three grandchildren; Bill Ingram, Barbara Gilbert and Debra Ingram: four great grandchildren; Jennifer Hall, martin Ingram, Derrick Gilbert and Grant Gilbert: four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband; Brooklin Harris, whom she married on December 24th, 1934 in Greencastle, Indiana: one daughter; Hazel Whitaker Ingram: five brother; Melvin, Gertie, Claude, Vert and Earl Whitaker: one sister; Jewell Whitaker.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1st, 2004 at the Denham Street Baptist Church with brother J. S. New and Brother Bruce Conley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Halls Gap, Kentucky. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 31st, 2004 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home and after Noon, Tuesday, June 1st, 2004 until time for services at the church.

Born May 19, 1912, in Lincoln County , she was the daughter of the late Mattie and George Miller. She was a member of Bethel AME Church, Boneyville.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Will Helm; four daughters, Bernice Cloud of Crab Orchard, Yvonne Mucker, Juanita Helm and Margaret Stateman, all of Stanford; four sons, Joe A. Helm, Hubert Helm, William Helm and Lewis Helm, all of Stanford; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Allie Shoopman Payton. She was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Humphrey of Stanford; a son, James Humphrey of Stanford; two daughters, Nancy Moreno and Brenda Thompson, both of Stanford; a brother, Charles Payton of Moreland; five sisters, Chelsea Purpin of Stanford, and Virginia Corso, Lois Crawley, Rudell Schmidt and Jean Reckley, all of Indiana; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five daughters, Sherry Oaks, Nellie Humphrey, Linda Humphrey, Wanda Humphrey and Sylvia Humphrey.

STANFORD - Harry Hunter, 59, of Stanford, died Thursday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born Nov. 19, 1945, in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Raymond Adams and Violet Bogger Hunter Adams. He was a minister and a member of Stanford Baptist Church. He served in the Marine Corps and was a Vietnam era veteran. He was a director of missions for Lincoln and Casey County Baptist Associations, and chaplain for Tyson Foods Co. in Henderson County. He was a member of Fort Logan Hospital board and American Red Cross board and served as pastor and interim pastor of several churches in Kentucky and Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte T. Hunter; a son, Harry Cook Hunter III of Stanford; a daughter, Maria Lee Hunter of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sisters, Margaret Miller and Ada Hunter, both of Pennsylvania; and a grandson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Stanford Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Jones. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18, American Legion.

STANFORD - Richard E. Jaggers Jr., 78, of Lexington, died Sunday, 21 Dec 2003, at his home.

Born June 16, 1925, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Dr. Richard "Elmer" and Emma Gerald Jaggers.

He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and had been a jet pilot.

He was a former division director of the state Cabinet for Human Resources and retired from The Lexington Herald-Leader.

He also was a chairman of the Mental Health Board, finance committee, and human resource committee.

He was a member of Crestwood Christian Church in Lexington and Greenbrier Country Club and a former member of Lexington Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Snow Jaggers, formerly of Stanford; two sons, Richard E. Jaggers III of Clearwater, Fla., and Steven Jaggers of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Jane McAlpine of Brooksville, Fla., and Jill Lemonie of Baton Rouge, La.; three stepdaughters, Jan Whitis, Arlene Yeager and Jennifer Tilly; eight grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a stepgranddaughter.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Crestwood Christian Church by the Revs. David Brondell and James Baughman.

Burial will be in Camp Nelson Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Born March 13, 1921, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Elish and Eleanor Fair Johnson. A retired farmer, he was the widower of Annie Sears Johnson.

Survivors include a son, Leonard Sammy Johnson of Casey County; three sisters, Bessie Lynn of Liberty, Della Rogers and Bertha Belcher, both of Patoka, Ind.; and two brothers, William L. Johnson of Liberty and Orbie E. Johnson of Princeton, Ind.

Born Dec. 6, 1916, in McQuerry County, he was a son of Ollie Blevins Kidd of Junction City and the late Oscar Kidd. He was a retired truck driver for Gulf, a member of Junction City Baptist Church, where he had served as Sunday school secretary for 50 years, deacon, disciple training director and other leadership positions.

 
Other survivors are his wife, Faye Kendrick Kidd; a daughter, Lois Lee Turner, Burksville; two sons, Robert Allen Kidd and Roy Glenn Hampton, both of Stanford; three sisters, Nola Flynn of Junction City, Cleora Westerfield of Danville and Linnie Short of Lincoln County; two brothers, Alfred Kidd of Harrodsburg and Billy Kidd of Bardstown.

Survivors include by a daughter, Doris Davis of Stanford; a sister, Elizabeth Mullins of Danville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She died Monday at Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

Born Oct. 28, 1939, in Bardstown, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle Clark Smith Statom. She was a licensed clinical social worker in private practice.

She attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church and was a 1958 graduate of Danville High School.

She was a graduate of Somerset Community College and Eastern Kentucky University, and earned her master's degree in social work at University of Kentucky.

From 1984-94 she taught at Eastern Kentucky University and began private practice in 1994 in Lexington and Berea.

She was a member of the board of directors of National Association of Social Workers, a member of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and a certified exercise instructor leading groups at Arnold Tower.

She retired from Comprehensive Care Center, having served in Lincoln County.

Survivors include her husband, Gilbert C. Lee; a daughter, Bethany Lee of Woodside, Calif.; two brothers, Donnie Statom of Crab Orchard and Billy Joe Statom of Lancaster; and a sister, Judy Howard of Nancy.

Pallbearers will be Orville Birch, Vince Vanover, David Simpson, Steve and Richard Fowler and Paul Sims.

Born March 26, 1923, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Charles and Evalena Carrier Lewis. He was a retired Kentucky Department of Corrections officer in La Grange, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Katherine Meece of Somerset and Ruth Christine Nuesse of Reading, Ohio.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green River Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Rick Naylor. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David and Josh Milburn, David, Dwayne and Danny Lewis, Billy Carter, John Ray and Bobby Brown.

Born Sept. 22, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Bennie and Lotie Gooslin McKinney. He was a retired postal carrier and former owner of McKinney's Market and McKinney's Bottle Gas Co.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Belle Singleton McKinney; a son, Michael McKinney of Science Hill; a brother, Harold McKinney of Eubank; and two sisters, Eutheda Dietrich of Lancaster and Bobbie Jean Combs of Eubank.

Born Oct. 2, 1916, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary Floyd Salyers. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. She was the widow of John Meeks.

Survivors include a son, Billy Meeks of Florida; a daughter, Betty Jean Robertson of Waynesburg; four brothers, Norman Salyers of Somerset, Clifford Salyers of Kentucky, Jessie Salyers of Liberty, and Vernon Salyers of Middleburg; four sisters, Martha Robertson and Elizabeth Carrier of Waynesburg, Bertha Fight of Ohio, and Clythia Godbey of Mt. Olive; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Born April 6, 1934, in Lincoln County , he was the son of the late Boyd Rice Miracle and Clara Augusta Yentsch Miracle. He was the husband of Freeba Marie Mize Miracle. He was a retired employee of the National Casket Company, an Air Force veteran and member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Merle and Mike Miracle, both of Waynesburg; a brother, Robert L. Miracle of Nicholasville; three sisters, Mary Gutenson of Stanford, Joanna Jufer of Waynesburg, and Rebecca Tincher of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church by Burl Coffman, Cecil Roundtree and Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. tonight and after 8 a.m. Monday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Born May 30, 1942, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mattie Carrier Moore. He was a farmer and an elder at Redemption Road Church. He was a deacon at Green River Pentecostal Church for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Loveless Moore; a son, Shelba L. Moore of Hustonville; four brothers, Charles, Benny and Larry Moore, all of Hustonville, and Freddie Moore of Chase City, Va.; and a sister, Barbara J. Moore Smith.

Services are 2:30 p.m. today at Redemption Road Church by Gary Yocum.

Mirth M. Durham Morgan, 88, West Chester, Ohio, daughter of James Blaine Durham and Della Minton Durham passed away Thursday, September 1st, 2005 at Chesterwood Village Nursing Home, West Chester, Ohio.

She was born November 20th, 1916 in Casey County, Kentucky. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son; Laurel (and Marlene) Hamilton: one daughter; Gloria Jean (and John) Ellison: 6 grandchildren: 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Bailey Murphy; three sons, James R. Shelton of Charlestown, Ind., Clarence Shelton and Billy R. Shelton, both of Crab Orchard; a sister, Irene Smith of Stanford; a brother, Oscar Saylor of Crab Orchard; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 13, 1912, in Nicholasville, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Marvin C. and Elizabeth Hoover Pentz. She was a homemaker and a member of Harris Memorial Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the widow of Delbert Newsome.

Survivors include two sons, Delbert Newsome of Stanford and William Newsome of Versailles; two daughters, Elizabeth Puckett of Gaffney, S.C., and Mary Gohmann of Louisville; and four grandchildren.

Born Dec. 27, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Milton "Bud" and Rosa Simpson Oaks.  A retired Penn 
Ventilator employee, he was a member and deacon of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.  He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Nickell Oaks; two sons, Hal Vernon Oaks of Halls Gap and Terry Oaks of Mason Gap; 
three daughters, Duina Thompson of Maretburg, Deborah Bentley of Brodhead and Anita McGuffey of Chestnut Ridge;  
three brothers, John L. Oaks of Middletown, Ohio, Milton Oaks Jr. of Stanford and Wilbur Oaks of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, 
Pauline Woodson of LaPort, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held a 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church by the Revs. James Clark and Jimmy McKinney.  
Burial, with military rites provided by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion, will be in the church cemetery.

He was a farm equipment employee at Fred Cain Farm Equipment in Danville and minister at Harris Creek Baptist Church in Moreland.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include: his wife, Linda Dixon Perry, Kings Mountain; one son, Brandon Scott Perry, Kings Mountain, two daughters, Jennifer Michelle Perry, Crab Orchard and Rhonda L. Delk, Walltown; three brothers, Delbert Perry and Freddie Perry, both of Broughtentown, and Michael Perry , Moreland; three sisters, Mamie Barron, Mt. Vernon, Wanda Mullins, Broughtentown, and Jean Denny, Brodhead; four grandchildren.

Raymond T. Petrey, 83, of Trenton, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at Middletown Regional Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1920, in Berea, Ky., to the late James O. and Sarah F. (Tincher) Petrey.

Mr. Petrey worked for Delco as a mechanist for 30 years. He also served his country in the army during World War II. Raymond received the W.W.II Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. Raymond was a member of the VFW and he enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his daughter, Doris Johnson Guy, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a sister, Elizabeth (Joseph) Moore, of Union; a brother-in-law, Harry McGuire, of Trenton, and many special friends, including Mr. and Mrs. James Mobley and their family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Petrey, his parents and four brothers and two sisters.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home (3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Drive) with Pastor Eric Brazelton officiating. He was a farmer and a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ, a Kentucky  Colonel and the widower of Cordia Mae James Siler.

Survivors include a son, Tim Siler of Waynesburg; three daughters, Ruby Genton of Cincinnati, Peggy Stickler of Stanford and Helen Stephens of Cookeville, Tenn.; a sister, Florence Dye of Marion, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services for Glenn F. Sims, 78, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Sims died Friday, July 8, 2005, at his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Waynesburg, Ky., the son of Claud and Rachel Jones Sims. He grew up in Kentucky.

Mr. Sims served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from Feb. 8, 1946, to Jan. 29, 1947. He worked for Hercules at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto, the Firestone Co. in Lawrence, and owned a restaurant. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lawrence, Lawrence Baptist Temple and a singing quartet at Emmanuel Baptist Church in New Castle, Ind.

He married Natialene Bone on Oct. 3, 1946, in Biloxi, Miss. She died Dec. 12, 1994.

Survivors include a son, Anthony, Lawrence; four daughters, Patricia Lawson, Lecompton, and Janet Bailey, Elizabeth Seele and Claudia Smith, all of Lawrence; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Services for Rosa Bell Naylor Smith, 83, of Preachersville, will be 11 a.m. Monday at McKnight Funeral Home by Leroy Davis. Burial will be in Preachersville Cemetery.

She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 20, 1922, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Elizabeth Cain Naylor. She was a member of Preachersville United Methodist Church and a member of the Womens Missionary Union. She was a former employee of Palm Beach Co.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Smith of Preachersville; a son, Gerald Smith of Preachersville; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Dyehouse, Lester Hopkins, Billy and Eddie Hawley, and Doug and Dougie Smith. Honorary pallbearers are David and Warren Naylor, Rosa Smith and Tony Denny. Memorials may go to Preachersville Cemetery Mowing Fund.

CRAB ORCHARD - Ruthelma McKinney Smith, 86, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Franklin McKinney Sr. and Viola Sowders McKinney.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd "Buster" Smith; three daughters, Wanda Jones of Casey County and Vivian Weaver and Norma Jean Smith, both of Crab Orchard; eight sons, Lester Smith of Danville, Earl Edward Smith, Elby Smith and Ronnie Smith, all of Crab Orchard, Johnny Smith of Nicholasville, and Denver Smith, Jeff Smith and David Smith, all of Stanford; two sisters, Ruby Alcorn and Virgie Alcorn, both of Indiana; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Lorene Coldiron and Viola Smith.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson, Darrell Gentry and Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be sons and Mark Andrew Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Danny R. Coldiron, Jerry Jones, Keith, James, Johnathan, Phillip, Travis and Dustin Smith and Nathaniel Weaver.

SMITH, Sallie F., widow of Stanley A. Smith, departed this life Fri., Dec. 24, 2004. A native of Lincoln Co., she was born to the late James and Gertrude Bright on Oct. 17, 1914.

She was a dedicated member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Dowd; three sisters: Margaret Logan, Katie Mucker and Julia Whitley; three brothers: James (Babe) Bright, Robert Bright and William Bright. Survivors are three daughters: Beverly (Sonnie) Clayborne, Brenda (Edward) Holmes and Doris (George) White; three sisters: Mary Reid and Annie B. Ross, both of Stanford, and Virginia (William) Smith of Lexington; two sisters-in-law: Bertha Bright of Crab Orchard and Annie Lou Bright of Gray Court, SC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 Visitation will be Wed., Dec. 29 from 6-9 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Thurs., Dec. 30 at 1 pm at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.  STANFORD - Services for William Foister Snow, 82, of Herndon Avenue, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home of Lincoln County by the Revs. Tim Boschen and James Baughman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Nov. 21, 1916, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late William C. and Alma Little Snow. He was a retired self-employed service station owner, a member of Stanford Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Kentucky Colonel and the widower of Nella Newsom Snow.
Survivors include two daughters, Irene Jaggers of Lexington and Diane Gaines of Stanford; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jim Baird, Ronald Lawrence, Steve Lucas, Tony and Jack Newsom and Jim Adams.

She died Friday at her home.

Born June 5, 1941, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George and Edna Young Coontz. She was a homemaker and pastor of Faith Fellowship Church. She was the widow of Acey Eugene Turner.

Survivors include five sons, Carl, Johnny, Mark, Steven and Tony Turner, all of Stanford; five daughters, Gigi Trent, Kitty Manning, Monica Turner, Becky Roark and Jessica Roark, all of Stanford; two sisters, Tine Edwards of Casey County and Eva Propes of Boyle County; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Troy Johnson, Charles Trent, Mark Turner Jr., Marvin Manning, John Manning and Jerry Manning.

Born April 27, 1933, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Lou Downs Johnson. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Major Howard Turpin Sr.; a daughter, Zetta Bolin of Hustonville; two brothers, Thomas Johnson of Bradfordsville, and Roland Johnson of Campbellsville; three sisters, Rose Marie Tungate of Campbellsville, Lillie Rakes of Lebanon and Mary Cox of Liberty; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son; Major Howard Turpin Jr.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Wayne Watts.

SCIENCE HILL - Herman Odell Wall, 76, of North Vernon, Ind., died Wednesday at Columbus Regional Hospital in Indiana.

Born June 22, 1929, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Chester and Minnie Douglas Wall. He was a laborer at Penn Ventilator, a member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church and served in the Army.

Survivors include a wife, Susan Bruner Wall; a step-son, Bobby Ison of North Vernon, Ind.; a step-daughter, Deidra Harris of Edinburgh, Ind.; two sisters, Louis Gones of Waynesburg, and Edith Adkins of Stanford; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wall.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home by Mike Mullins. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

They died Thursday at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. Their parents are Gary and Janice Lane Witt of Stanford.

Survivors include a brother, Kenny Witt, of Stanford; and four sisters, Kristin Witt, Kaitlyn Witt, Shawnda Jones and Jamie Jones, all of Stanford.
