CRAB ORCHARD - James Kenneth Adams, 79, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday at Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 5, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of the late James E. and Helen McKinney Adams. He was a graduate of Dayton Knights High School, Dayton, Ohio. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Campbellsville College and was a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970. He had been pastor of several churches, including Crab Orchard Baptist Church from 1971 to 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Elkins Adams; a daughter, Carol Sue Sewell of Grayson; a brother, Harold C. Adams of Huber Heights, Ohio; two sisters, Marilyn Kilburn of Morrow, Ohio, and Sharon Burgimeir of Mainville, Ohio; and a granddaughter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant View Baptist Church by Aaron Hogue. Burial will be in Ephesus Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church.

STANFORD -- Sally Louise Adkins, 58, of U.S. 27 South, Waynesburg, died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born June 12, 1941, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William Sears and Ada Yocum Adkins. She was the widow of Earl H. Adkins Sr.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Snow. Survivors include six sons, Earl Jr., Wayne and Jeff of Stanford, Gary of Rockingham, N.C., Scotty of Jacksonville Fla., and Timmy of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Belinda Luttrell of Kings Mountain and Rachel Naylor of Waynesburg; three sisters, Anna Lois Baker of Mount Vernon, Alma Adkins of Stanford and Teresa Heselton of Bryantsville; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Rick Naylor. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Carmicle, Bob Cook, Keith and Scott Adkins, Jimmy Sears, Eddie Naylor, Jeff Luttrell and Tom Schmiers. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Cornett, Stuart Curtis, Max Edwards and Cledis Baker. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today.

WAYNESBURG - J. W. Alford, 84, of Waynesburg, died Friday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Born May 18, 1922, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva Dye Alford. He was retired from Phillips Lighting and was a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a former postmaster and a member of Waynesburg Masonic Lodge No. 328. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church in Waynesburg, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was the widower of Margarget Wyler Alford.

Survivors include three sons, William C. Alford of Savannah, Ga., and James L. and Robert C. Alford, both of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Double Springs Baptist Church by Aaron Hogue. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher and Bryson Alford, Joey Police, Julian Wall, Zack Jacobs and Jim May.

Honorary pallbearers are Sara Police, Stacia, Stephine and Cari Alford, Ashley Jacobs and Kassandra Lutter.

CRAB ORCHARD - Myrtle Brown Anderson, 94, of Stanford House Nursing Home, formerly of Star Avenue, Stanford, died Wednesday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born March 5, 1904, in Rockcastle County, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Alice Southern Brown. She was a former employee of Palm Beach Clothing Co., a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church and the widow of Ezra Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Lincoln of San Diego, Calif., and Bee Salisbury of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Jim Coldiron of Tucker, Ga., Henry Coldiron of Los Angeles, Calif., and Edward Coldiron of Middletown, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Matilda Coldiron.
Services were scheduled for 11 a.m. today at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim Coldiron. Burial will be in Providence Church of Christ Cemetery, Rockcastle County.
Pallbearers were Howard Lincoln, Gary Choate and grandsons.

LOUISVILLE - Robert L. Anderson, 50, of Louisville, formerly of Danville, died Wednesday at home.
He was a son of Robert L. Anderson of Kings Mountain and the late Minnie McAlister Anderson. He was a foreman at Ford Motor Company. He was a graduate of Danville High School and Eastern Kentucky University.
Survivors include his wife Paula Holtzmann Anderson; a son, Drew Anderson of Louisville; a daughter, Lori Anderson; and two sisters, JoAn Gibson of Florida, and Judy Pemberton of Indianapolis.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael the Arch Angel Catholic Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

William G. “Bill” Anderson, 87, Hwy. 934, Somerset, died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born August 31, 1918 in Walnut Grove, Ky. to the late Emmett and Clara DeBorde Anderson. He was a retired farmer and was a retired employee of Southern Belle Dairy. He was a deacon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, a member of the Woodstock Masonic Lodge and he served in World War II as a Seaman, 1st Class, in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Ward Anderson, whom he married on July 3, 1939; a daughter, Anita (and Marion) Anderson Hubble, of Eubank, Ky.; a sister, Helen (and James) Anderson Jones, of Somerset; and two grandchildren, Russell S. Hubble, of Hopkinsville, Ky. and David G. (and Krista Dent) Hubble, of Louisville, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edd Anderson; and a sister, Edith Anderson Smith.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, July 22, 2006 at the chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home, Science Hill with Bro. Kyle Rader officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery, Somerset, Ky.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Clara Renee Lynn Carpenter was stillborn Aug. 27 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of Billy Joe and Melissa A. Shelton Carpenter of Crab Orchard. Other survivors include a sister, Raychel Allison Carpenter of Crab Orchard; maternal grandparents, John and Flonnie Shelton of Crab Orchard; and a great-grandmother, Catherine Shelton of Crab Orchard. STANFORD - James Arley Carrier, 57, of Waynesburg, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Phyllis Carrier.

MORELAND -- Dorothy Barnett Chandler, 81, of Stanford, died Saturday at Fort Logan Hospital. Born April 17, 1918, in Paintsville, she was a daughter of the late James and Daisy VanHoose Barnett.

She was a former employee of Hub Frankel, a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church and the widow of Homer M. Chandler. Survivors include a niece, Janet VanHoose of Lexington; and two nephews, Gary Chandler of Fayetteville, N.C., and David Chandler of Danville.

Born Aug. 29, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Garret and Beryl Marlow Alford. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and the widow of Ira Cook.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Cook of Stanford; a daughter, Martha Taylor of South Fork; two brothers, Sterling Alford of South Fork and Thomas Alford of Hustonville; two sisters, Alice Wilson of South Fork and Elvera Campbell of Geneva; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD - Phyllis Jean Muncie Cromer, 66, of Eubank, died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born May 16, 1940, in Crab Orchard, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Smith Muncie. She was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Ann M. Collins, Betty Taylor, Beth Caudill, Shannon Cromer and Linda Johnson, all of Crab Orchard; a son, Virgil Cromer of Crab Orchard; three sisters, Simonetta Britton of Burgin, Lena Wilson of Stanford and Sherrie Garner of Crab Orchard; a brother, Curtis Muncie of Danville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and companion, Dean Reynolds of Eubank.

July 16, 2006 Danville Advocate-Messenger [CRAB ORCHARD - A Eubank woman was killed Friday morning after she lost control of her vehicle on Ky. 39 and crashed into a tree, according to reports from Kentucky State Police. Phyllis M. Cromer, 66, was transported to Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, where she later died from multiple injuries, police said. According to a press release from KSP, Cromer was traveling north on Ky. 39 at 7:20 a.m., about six miles south of Crab Orchard. Police suspect she lost control of her 1992 Chevrolet van while going around a curve and ran off the roadway and crashed into a tree. Cromer was not wearing a seat belt. The crash is under investigation by Trooper Michael Ashley.

STANFORD — Services for Catherine Peavler Davis, 75, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Curtis Herrington. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Maude Davis Peavler. She was a Baptist and the widow of Kenneth E. Davis.

Survivors include five daughters, Streta Santos of Bedford, Gerva Jones of Somerset, and Vicky Merrell, Carolyn Boyd and Brenda Gross, all of Stanford; a sister, Brenda Foster of Stanford; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Davis.

Amil Jake Demrow Jr., 75, of Arnold Towers, died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 23, 1923, in Janesville, Wisc., he was a son of the late Helen Johnston and Amil J. Demrow Sr. He was a retired cemetery sexton and a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Knight of Stanford, Becky Spears of Hustonville, Bobbie Benton of Quantico, Va., and Bonnie Demrow of Waynesburg; two sons, Butch Demrow of Fort Collins, Colo., and Bill Demrow of Waynesburg; a sister, Nell Crosby of Janesville; a half brother, Robert Demrow of Janesville; and 10 grandchildren.

MORELAND - Antonio Nicholas Di Nardo, 86, of Stanford, died Saturday at Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 15, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Andrea and Concetta Fascia Di Nardo. He was a taxi driver and a machinist, and an Army veteran of World War II. In 1947, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses of the Stanford congregation. He was the widower of Easther Conserva Di Nardo.

Survivors include two sons, Perry B. Di Nardo of West Hampton Beach, N.Y., and Darren A. Di Nardo of Stanford; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew D. Di Nardo.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kingdom Hall on Metker Trail in Stanford. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

STANFORD - Services for Elsie Abt Ensslin, 104, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Stanford, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She died Saturday in Venice.

Born April 6, 1902, in Ottenheim, she was a daughter of the late August and Louisa Sabry Abt. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church. She was a founding member of Ottenheim Homemakers Club and a writer for The Interior Journal. She was the widow of Henry Ensslin.

Survivors include three daughters, Eileen Bluhm [see article below] and Lorraine Rist, both of Venice, and Charlene Barrett of Auburn, Wash.; two sons, Laurence Ensslin and Charles Ensslin; 13 grandchildren; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Elsie Abt Ensslin, 104, Venice, died July 8, 2006.

She was born April 6, 1902, in Ottenheim, Ky., and came to Venice in November 2005 from Tallmadge, Ohio. She was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Ottenheim Homemakers Club and wrote for the Interior Journal in Stanford, Ky., and was a life member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Ottenheim.

Survivors include daughters Eileen Bluhm and Lorraine Rist, both of Venice, and Charlene Barrett of Auburn, Wash.; sons Laurence of Barrington, Ill., and Charles of Wauconda, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be in Ottenheim. Ewing Funeral Home, Venice, is in charge.

She died Sunday at her home. Born Jan. 20, 1910, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Willie Alice Johnson Hasty. She was a homemaker, a member of Double Springs Baptist Church and the widow of Johnnie Falconberry.

Survivors include three sons, Delyn Falconberry of Stanford, Gary Falconberry of Crab Orchard and Larry Falconberry of Eubank; three daughters, Margaret Smith of Somerset, Annabelle Willis of Louisville and Marcella Cassidy of Stanford; a brother, Ottis Hasty of Auburndale, Fla.; three sisters, Beulah Witt of Nicholasville, Helen Miller of Waynesburg and Christine Pitte of Columbia; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. WAYNESBURG -- Services for Wayne Hamilton, 55, of Outwood Nursing Home, Dawson Springs, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Greg Powell. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery. He died Thursday in Dawson Springs. Born July 23, 1944, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Jacob H. and Della Salyers Hamilton. He was an employee of Outback in Dawson Springs and won first place in running in Special Olympics. Survivors include a sister, Judy Wahl of Kings Mountain. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Saturday.

LAUREL - Ramona "Faye” Harris , 67, of Laurel died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at her residence.

She was born May 27, 1936, in Lincoln County, KY ., a daughter of Blaine and Pearl Daley Brown. She lived most of her life in Franklin County. She was employed by Visteon in Connersville from August 1972 to March 1999. She married Wayne Harris Sr. on Feb. 10, 1973, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1992. She was a 1954 graduate of Brookville High School.

Survivors include three stepsons, Everett W. Harris Jr., Darrel E. Harris and Ronald Lee Harris , all of Connersville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Randy (Juanita Faye) Shipley of Connersville; a nephew, Charles Sims of Bronston, KY.; a special friend, Margaret Dye of Connersville; and several stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, her husband and a sister, Bessie Lovvorn in 2002.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville with Pastor Perry S. Richards officiating. Burial will be in Laurel North Cemetery in Franklin County. Friends may call Saturday after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

STANFORD - Services for Freda J. Henderson, 82, of Stanford, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Baptist Church by the Revs. Gary King and Chris Dalton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Born Dec. 23, 1923, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Clara Walls Clark. She was retired from Corning Glass after 18 years and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Henderson, Travis Henderson and Jimmy Henderson, all of Stanford; two daughters, Judy Johnson of Kings Mountain and Treva Hill of Stanford; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Terry.

Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters and members of Fairview Helping Hands Sunday School Class.

Christinna “Chrysti” R. Dunn Hymer, 24, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 as a result of an automobile accident in Las Vegas, NV.

Born April 7, 1979 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of Dawna Favors of Indianapolis and Alan (Charlotte) Dunn of Hustonville.

She was an honor student at Clark County Community College and an associate for a hotel-casino in Las Vegas.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her husband, James Hymer, Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Joseph Dykstra, Indianapolis, IN, and Justin Dunn, Harrodsburg; two sisters, Stephanie Dykstra, Indianapolis, and Alana Dunn, Harrodsburg; paternal grandmother, Norma Dunn, Danville; maternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Donnie Gaines, Brownsburg, IN; paternal great-grandmother, Helen Dunn, Stanford. She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Garland Dunn.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Palm Mortuary-Eastern in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held in Hustonville at a later date.

MORELAND — Timothy Ray Isaacs, 42, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.

Born Jan. 20, 1964, in Connersville, Ind., he was the son of Denver R. and Margaret Barry Isaacs of Berea. He was a truck driver and attended Maxey’s Valley First Church of God. He attended Jessamine County High School.

Survivors include his wife, Kim Isaacs of Florence; a son, Travis Isaacs of Moreland; two daughters, Cassity Newland and Lauren Ashley Isaacs, both of Nicholasville; a sister: Theresa Salvaterra of Alexandria; two brothers, Robert Isaacs of Lexington and Stephen Isaacs of Mount Vernon; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian K. Isaacs.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Neil Salvaterra. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.

WAYNESBURG - Harvey Jones, 44, of Kings Mountain, died Saturday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Born Jan. 17, 1953, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Mae Jones Coleman of Waynesburg and the late George M. Jones. He was a contractor/installer and the widower of Peggy Jones.

Born July 30, 1907, in Clay County, she was a daughter of the late William Wyatt and Mary L. Clark Rawlings. She was a retired teacher, who taught 21 years at McKinney School, and a member of McKinney Baptist Church. She was the widow of Frank Ware Scudder.

He was a 25-year employee at the Stanford Creamery as a milk tester and was also a carpenter. Born Sept. 29, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Sara E. Brown Smith. He was a World War II Army veteran, a farmer and a construction worker. He was a member of Caswell Saufley American Legion Post No. 18, Cleve Dun VFW Post No. 7101 and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Reynolds Smith; two sons, David and Donald Smith, both of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Sheila Kilgore of Nashville, Tenn., and Marilyn Carman and Marlene Brown, both of Crab Orchard; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Ronald Snow of Kings Mountain died Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Ft. Logan Hospital. He was 77.

Born in Casey County on October 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Clay Snow and Elizabeth Perkins Snow.

She was a grocery cashier at Food Fair in Stanford, and was a member of the Little Pilgrims Rock Old Regular Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Grant Tackett of Waynesburg, whom she married on April 21, 1956; son, Joe Tackett of Stanford; daughters, Kathy Owens of Waynesburg, and Shirley Hamilton of Lancaster; brothers, Larry Newsome of Vermilion, Oh. and Rex Newsome of Amherst, Oh.; sisters, Geneva Newsome of Wakeman, Oh., Roberta Walbon of Lorain, Oh., Willa Jean Tackett of Teaberry, Ky., and Clara Sue Hall of Grethel, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Grant Tackett, and Tommy Tackett, and one daughter, Brenda Lou Tackett.

Jesse Terrell, Jr. of Danville died Monday, February 2, 2004 at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

Born in Casey County on June 3, 1927, he was a son of the late Jesse James Terrell and Martha Ellen Maxey Terrell.

He was a tile and carpet installer and attended Maxey Valley Church of God and Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Born Jan. 22, 1921, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Clay and Etta Morgan Thompson. He was a farmer, a member of New Salem Baptist Church and the widower of Mable Thompson.

Cecil Tinsley of Middleburg died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was 93.

Born in Middleburg on April 14, 1910, he was a son of the late William Tinsley and Jenny Smith Tinsley.

He was a former railroad employee and farmer. He was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Concerned Bikers of Kentucky.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Rader of Cincinnati, Barbara (and L.C.) Johnson of Middleburg, Bonnie (and James) Caldwell of Litteton, Illinois and Brenda Tinsley of Liberty; three sons, Bobby Tinsley and Buddy (and Lorrine) Tinsley, both of Liberty and Burl (and Becky) Tinsley of Martinsville, Indiana; 28 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

Mary Watson, 84, of South Columbia Avenue in Campbellsville, KY ., died on Saturday May 29, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late George Anderson and Frances Tomlinson Anderson, she was born on Aug. 4, 1919 in Pulaski County, KY . She was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church and a worker in church nurseries for more than 40 years.

She was married to Harold F. Watson on Nov. 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1975.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Cassie and Tom Miller of Danvers, Mass., Katy and Mike Kiger of Campbellsville and Nina and Mike McClure of Buford, Ga.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include four sons, James H. Wilder of Stanford, Doyle L. Wilder of Waynesburg, Laymon B. Wilder of Versailles and Jacob Wesley of Columbus, Ind.; two daughters, Ilene Severance and Deva Harris, both of Stanford; three sisters, Nellie Creech of Cincinnati, Nancy Napier of Stanford and Sarah Miracle of Crewe, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Chris, Jason, Shane and Jeremy Wilder, David Harris, Scott Gifford and Tom Wooten. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Saturday.
