Born June 30, 1933, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Garrett and Beryl Thomas Marlow Alford. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Alford of Lexington and Starling Alford of South Fork; and three sisters, Elenor Cook, Elvira Campbell and Alice Wilson, all of South Fork.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.

STANFORD - Andrew Arnett, 72, of Hustonville Road, died Monday at Pine Lick Nursing Home, Chandler, Ind., after a long illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1923, in Louisville, he was a son of the late Kenny and Leldr Arnett. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Arnett; a brother, James Arnett of Florida; and a niece, Bobbi Cooper, whom he raised.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ, Campbell Street, Lancaster, by the Rev. E.D. Thornton. Burial will be in Milton-Simpson Cemetery, Boneyville.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Jones, Ed Gooch, Lee Trumbo, Jack Powell, Glen Wilkerson and George Gooch.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Smith Jackson Funeral Home, Danville.

Ivan Foster Baugh, age 94, went home to be with the Lord, Sun. Apr. 9, 2006 at Friendship Village of Columbus. A native of Stanford KY, he was the son of the late John L. and Minnie Baugh. He was a Sunday School teacher and member of McKinney Baptist Church in McKinney KY; a retired farmer and Veteran of the US Navy 1932-1936 and US Army 1937-1939. Preceded in death by: an infant son, a sister Ophelia Baugh, brothers: Leslie, Jr., William, Ovis and David Baugh, son-in-law, Paul E. New, Sr. Survived by his wife of 65 years Nellie K. (Harman) Baugh, their daughter, Eloise O. New, of Gahanna, with whom they made their home, son John F. Baugh of Columbus, grandchildren: Paul E. New, Jr., Paula (Richard) Lee, David (Stacy) Baugh, Steven Baugh and Lori Baugh; great-grandchildren Alyssa Lee, Amanda Lee and Connor Baugh; sister Opal Couchman, brothers Denver, Edward and Roscoe Baugh, nieces and nephews.           Born March 27, 1948, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late David and Vena Wilmot Belcher. He was a production
          assistant manager at  Hitachi Automotive in Harrodsburg for 19 years. He was a member of Church of Christ and a 1966
          graduate of Crab Orchard High School.

         Survivors include his wife, Sue Playforth Belcher; two daughters, Melanie Warren of Lancaster and Nicole Jenkins of Hustonville;
         five brothers, Earl Belcher of Harrodsburg, Don Belcher and George Belcher, both of Crab Orchard, Jim Belcher of Lancaster, and
         Bobby Belcher of Vacaville, Calif.; four sisters, Roberta Singleton and Beulah Pearce, both of West Chester, Ohio, Virginia Harness
         and Mary Jane Belcher, both of Crab Orchard; and three grandchildren.

         and Andrew Woodall.

Radford “Randy” Brock, 42, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, March 19 at his home.

A native of Amherst, OH., he was born April 23, 1963 to the late Ledford and Nancy L. Kreeger Brock. He was disabled.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Griffin Brock of Asheville, NC.; one son, Radford A. Brock, Jr., of Asheville, NC.; one daughter, Melissa Sue Brock of Asheville, NC.; four brothers, Clifford Brock of Walker, MI., Alford Brock of Rockford, MI., Ledford Brock, Jr. of Baldwin, MI., and Brad Brock of Hustonville; two sisters, Lou Ann Burchfield of Waynesburg and Teresa Mae Dunn of Norwalk, OH.; and one grandson.

Graveside services were held Thursday, March 23 at the Brock Family Cemetery with Bro. Aaron Hogue officiating.

STANFORD - Services for Edith Myrtle Yocum Brown, 89, of McKinney, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Geneva Baptist Church by the Rev. Albert Gisler and Tim Brown. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Born May 13, 1917, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late William Z. and Nannie B. Coffman Yocum. She was a homemaker and a member of Geneva Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Ranzey Brown, Cecil Brown and Dallas Brown, all of McKinney; three daughters, Rosie Johnson of Hustonville, Shirley Meadows of McKinney and Frances Brown of Stanford; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Douglas, James Carrier, James Caudill, Jeff and Derick Moore, Maynard Hoskins and Lewis Allison.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the church. Spurlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Blackaby Butman passed from this earth and went to meet her maker on Sunday, February 19, 2006. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Merkel Church of Christ with Kirk Castleman officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St., Abilene, Texas.

Pauline was born April 5, 1920 in Stanford, Kentucky to Paul and Lue Annie Blackaby. The family lived in Kentucky until they moved to Merkel, Texas in October 1935. On June 16, 1940 Pauline married the love of her life Louis S. Butman. He preceded her in death February 7, 1981.

Pauline worked for the U.S. Army Finance Office in Los Angeles, California; Army Air Base in Abilene, Texas; ?A? Bomb Plant in Hanford, Washington; U.S. Census Bureau, Abilene, U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, Augusta Georgia; SAC 96th Bomb Wing, Dyess AFB; Corps of Engineers Ballistic Missile Construction Office, Abilene; Fourth U.S. Army 3d Combined Guided Missile Field Maintenance Shop, Dyess AFB; Gold Key Company Realtors and then from 1972 - 1979 owned Prestige Homes/Prestige Properties.

Pauline's favorite pastimes were playing Scrabble, Spinners or any game that presented a challenge. She entered and won over 1,500 major contests over her lifetime. Not wanting to be left behind the times Pauline learned the computer at age 80 and was entering contests until her death.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband and one sister, Rosalie Wingo.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Wilma Butman of Abilene; one daughter, Beverly Butman of Mulberry Canyon; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Butman of Austin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Don Russom, Joseph Swinney, Jerrell Butman, Richard Hoffman, James Meyer, Billy Bob Neff and James Butman.

STANFORD - Garnetta Faye Chapman, 61, of Danville, died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.

Born Dec. 10, 1944, in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late William and Delphia Mills Whitlock. She was a waitress, former employee of Palm Beach and member of Baptist Faith Church. She was the widow of George Chapman. (obituary file # 12)

Survivors include a brother, Charles Whitlock of Danville; two sisters, Pauline Douglas of Danville and Joyce Nevius of Kentucky; three sons, Steve Morris of Danville, Billy Whittaker of Burgin and Jesse Whittaker of Versailles; a daughter, Anita Hubbard of Parksville; two step sons, Gregory Chapman of Cincinnati and Eric Chapman of Williamsburg, Ohio; a step daughter, Barbara Motko of Visalia, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Morris.

Born April 12, 1927, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Earsie Brown Coleman. He was a retired farmer and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Terry Morris Denham, 64, of Mt. Washington, died Tuesday, March 14 at the University of Arkansas Health Science Center in Little Rock, AR.

A native of Detroit, MI., he was born June 16, 1941 to Russell and Virginia Denham of Stanford. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired employee of General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville, a member of the Church of Christ, the Tin Can Sailors, the Byrne’s Kentucky Battery CSA, the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry of the Civil War Reenactors, and the widower of Mary Ann Fowler.

Other survivors include one brother, Tom (Randee) Denham of Hendersonville, TN.; one sister, Linda (Will) Amos of New Albany, IN.; two nephews, Michael (Tracy) Denham of Strawberry Plains, TN., and Mark (Dana) Wheeler of Shelbyville; grand nieces, Ella and Caroline Denham of Strawberry Plains, TN., and Sarah and Hayley Wheeler of Shelbyville; one niece, Jennifer (Bryan) Tegarden of New Albany, IN.; step grandnephews, Nick and Joe Tegarden of New Albany, IN.; a cousin, Lee (Lori) Noffsinger and son, Michael of Richmond, VA.; one step daughter, Missie (Donnie) Riley of Bardstown; step son, Jeremy Fowler of Bardstown; and grandchildren, Daniel, Luke, and Amelia Riley and Joey, Jared and Logan Fowler all of Bardstown.

CRAB ORCHARD - Lillie Doyle, 85, of Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 28, 1921, in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl Wells Doyle. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Survivors include a brother, Clyde Doyle of Princeton, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Joseph Newman Durham, 81 died at his home in the Pine Grove Hall section of the county 12 Feb 1953 after an illness of three weeks. Married to Jemima (Mimie) Oaks in 1896, he was a faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mimie Durham, five daughters, Mrs. Dan (Bertha) Cain and Mrs. Dalt (Dalla) Manuel, both of Stanford Rt 1, Mrs. Ray (Ella) Garner, Crab Orchard, Mrs. James (Rosa) Martin, Stanford Rt 4, and Mrs. John (Bessie) Harris, Covington, four sons, Fred Durham, Elizabethtown, KY, Edd Durham, Lexington, Otis Durham, Kansas City, MO, and Oscar Durham, Lawton, OK, thirty-four grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday Feb 15 at the Pine Grove Church with Rev. Charles Hall officiating. Burial was the Pine Grove Cemetery. Grandsons acted as pallbearers.

Born March 13, 1948, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Willie L. and Ethel Simpson Ellis. He was affiliated with First Church of God. He served in the Army and the Navy and was a Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Garrett Ellis; a daughter, Michelle Womack of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Kenneth and Eugene Ellis, both of Hustonville; two sisters, Shearleen Green of Danville and Linda Austin of Liberty; and a grandson.

Born Oct. 5, 1917, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Shelly Newland. She attended Centre and Fugazzi colleges. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Salt River Baptist Church. She was the widow of James R. Fowler Sr.

Survivors include a stepson, Robert Fowler Jr. of Danville; a brother-in-law, Roy Fowler of Danville; a sister-in-law, Hattie Payton of Corona, Calif.; a caregiver, Bettie Burton of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be LeeRoy, Steven, Guy, Richard and Newland Fowler, and Tom Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are James Sheehan, Bill Johnson, Harold Harmon and Sid Wold.

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Walter Gastineau, 90, of Cincinnati, died there Saturday.
Born in Winfield, Tenn., he was an employee of Cincinnati Galvanizing Co. and King Machine and Tool Co.

Survivors include his wife, Linda J. Gastineau; a son, Donald E. Gastineau of Tennessee; a daughter, Delores J. Sess of Florida; two grandchildren; 10 stepchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home. (Sharonville, OH) Graveside serves will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Double Springs Cemetery, Waynesburg.

RAMSEY, Ind. - Ernest Genton, 93, died Saturday at Hillcrest Centre for Health and Rehabilitation in Jeffersonville, Ind.

Born Feb. 12, 1913, in Crab Orchard, he was a son of the late Louis and Sophie Goepp Genton. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from ICI America and attended New Salisbury Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include his former wife, Bonnie Lou Genton; five sons, Ernest D. Genton of Austin, Ind., Randall, Donnie, Daniel and Carl Genton, all of Memphis Ind.; a foster son, Dennis Goens of Charlotstown, Ohio; a sister, Ida Genton of Glenchester, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Services were today at Swarens Funeral Home. Burial was in Milltown Southern Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born June 15, 1914, in Grant County, she was the daughter of the late Bartley B. and Lucy Gaunce Ferrell. She was a secretary for the former Stanford Creamery and a member of McCormack Christian Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Gladys Ferrell Campbell of Stanford and Shirley Ferrell Price of Crab Orchard; two brothers, Gary Ferrell of Crab Orchard and Delbert Ferrell of Stanford.

Born Oct. 7, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence L. and Eva Chrisman Rankin. She was a retired bookkeeper, accountant and co-owner of the former Greer-Allen Motor Co. in Danville and Greer Motor Co. in Lebanon. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Frances Carol Meyers of St. Louis; two sons, Glen Greer of Louisville and Jerrel Greer of Danville; a brother, Clarence L. Rankin of Lincoln County; two sisters, Frances R. Caldwell of Danville and Lucille Kirkpatrick of Hustonville; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Barbara Dowell Harris, 63, of Waynesburg, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born April 11, 1943, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Blankenship Dowell. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Saley Harris Jr. of Waynesburg; two daughters, Joyce Smith of Hustonville and Kathy Rice of Waynesburg; two stepchildren, John Harris of Williamsburg and Irene Alley of Covington; three brothers, Elvie Dowell and Elmer Dowell, both of Waynesburg, and Vernon Dowell of Indiana; three sisters, Dorothy Morhinners and Elsie Carter, both of Waynesburg, and Christine Roberts of Indiana; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.

Elsie Hubbard Helton, 83, of Crab Orchard, died Monday, March 27 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehab in Brodhead.

A native of Rockcastle Co., she was born June 5, 1922 to the late Abraham and Katherine Miles Hubbard. She was a member of the Crab Orchard Church of God.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Harmon, Newt, Albert, and Dwight Hubbard; and granddaughters, Janet Hendrickson Clark and Barbara Hendrickson.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Francis Hendrickson of Stanford and Linda (Jimmy) Blanton of Crab Orchard; one brother, Aubrey Hubbard of Hamilton, OH.; three sisters, Octavia Rouse of Crab Orchard, Martha Simpson of Middleton, OH., and Verna Wood of Bandon, OR.; two grandchildren, Teresa Carr of Brodhead and Otis L. Hendrickson of Nicholasville; and two great grandchildren, Stephanie Carr and Curtis Sutton.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday, March 30) at 11 a.m. at the Crab Orchard Church of God with Bro. Lonnie Goodin officiating. Burial will be in Negro Creek Cemetery in Brodhead.

STANFORD- Frank Land, 73, of Hustonville, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Casey County and was a retired sexton of Hustonville Cemetery. He belonged to Hustonville Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Della Land of Hustonville; a son, James L. Land of Shepherdsville; a daughter, Doris Davis of Stanford; a brother, Hartford Land of Indianapolis; a sister, Naoma Powers of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Morgan and Fox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

MIDDLEBURG - Services for Minnie Edith Lanham, 91, of Middleburg, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bartle Funeral Home by the Rev. Curtis Brock. Burial will be in Lanhamtown Cemetery.

Born July 1, 1914, in Hustonville, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Katy Cochran King. She was a homemaker and former cook at Middleburg Elementary School. She was a member of Middleburg Baptist Church and the widow of Jesse S. Lanham.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse D. Lanham of Morgantown, Ind., and Paul D. Lanham of Middleburg; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John R. Lanham.

MORELAND- William Barkley Leathers, 80, of Hustonville died Monday at his residence.

Born Sept. 2, 1914 in Casey County, he was the son of the late George and Mary Roberts Leathers. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Moreland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Myrtle Smith Leathers.

Ruth LaVerne McCoy, (born in Ohio) of Six Churches, passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Weltman McCoy; and brother, Charles E. Dishon .

MIDDLEBURG - Pauline McWhorter, 91, of Middleburg, died Sunday at Casey County Hospital.

Born Dec. 27, 1914, in Kings Mountain. (Lincoln Co.) She was a daughter of the late H.M. and Hema Raney Shoemaker. She was a former clerk at Elliott's Store in Middleburg, a member of Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church and the widow of Matt McWhorter.

Survivors include four daughters, Joanna Doyle of Shepherdsvile, Betty Yarger of Wilmington, Ohio, Nancy Thomas of Danville and Brenda Smith of Hustonville; a son, Larry McWhorter of Sabina, Ohio; two brothers, H.M. Shoemaker Jr. and Lloyd Shoemaker, both of Kings Mountain; a sister, Ruby Clark of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary Mills, 72, of Arvin Road, Lancaster died at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2003. She was born on September 22, 1931 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Taylor and Callie Wiseman Ballard. Mills was a retired homemaker and a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Rev. Paul Edward Mills (Sheila) of Edmonton; one granddaughter Heather Ann Mills of Edmonton; five brothers, Artie Ballard (Margie) of Richmond, Fred Ballard (Ruby) of Richmond, James Ballard (Diane) of Kissimine, Fla., David Ballard (Jill) of Waco, Morris Ballard (Ruth) of Richmond and one grandchild.

Born March 26, 1923, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Sara Baugh Williams. She was the widow of Paul V. Morgan and a member of New Life Church of God of Prophesy.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy J. Arnett of Cincinnati and Vicki L. Burchfield of Somerset; a grandson; and two great-grandsons.

Services were today at New Life Church of God of Prophesy by Jack Carter and Bill Pelfrey. Burial was in Salyers Cemetery.

Flora W. Morgan, 82, of Ky. 328 West, Waynesburg, was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the scene after her vehicle ran off Ky. 328, Lincoln County Coroner Bill Demrow.

She was driving east toward Waynesburg when her vehicle dropped off the right shoulder of the road. She overcorrected, and the vehicle crossed the center line, according to a report by Trooper Bobby Amon.

Morgan overcorrected again to the right causing the vehicle to run off the right shoulder of the road. The car struck a culvert and tree before coming to a final rest in a ditch. Demrow said the door of the vehicle struck the tree. Morgan was not wearing a seat belt.

STANFORD - James M. Morgan, 84, of Stanford, died Saturday at Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Born April 4, 1921, in Waynesburg, he was a son of the late Alva J. and Florence Wall Morgan. He was an auto mechanic, a member of Fairview Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion and its honor guard. He had served with Gen. George Patton in the medical detachment of the 410th Infantry. He received five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters for wounds he received in France in 1944 and in Luxembourg in 1945. He was the widower of Cora Hensley Morgan.

Survivors include three daughters, Saundra Sparkman and Brenda Bertram, both of Stanford, and Donna Morgan Stoudemeyer of Danville; two sisters, Rosella Carney and Naomi Singleton, both of Michigan; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Chester Cornett. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

COVINGTON - Robert Mullins - the "old man" of the Northern Kentucky Brotherhood Singers - died Sunday at St. Elizabeth South Hospital. The Covington resident was 76.

The group is an all-male a cappella quintet that specializes in Negro spirituals and old gospel hymns. Mr. Mullins, who sang tenor and was the oldest member, was known for his trademark hats and the cigar that dangled from his mouth. The men started singing together about 18 years ago.

"From the beginning, they were a group of men singing loosely - some belonged to the Ninth Street Baptist Church Brotherhood," said his daughter Pamela Mullins of Covington.

They started out singing at weddings, funerals, birthday parties and folk festivals sponsored by the Kentucky Arts Council. Their popularity grew after they opened for Ray Charles before 10,000 people at the Ottawa Blues Festival in Canada. Since then, they have performed in nearly all of the 50 United States and in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland.

Mr. Mullins was born in Hall's Gap near Stanford in Lincoln County, Ky. He attended the schools in Stanford, then joined the Army. He moved to Covington in 1951, and worked for more than 20 years for John Hemmer Construction Co. He lost his job when the company reorganized, so he did custodial work for Clopay Products until he retired around age 60.

He presided over a large and close-knit family - most of whom lived within walking distance of his Covington home. "Dad was one of the greatest fathers," his daughter said. "He was a good provider."

Mr. Mullins died the day before his 52nd wedding anniversary. The doctors had recently found that he had lung cancer. But his family believes he died from grief. His 94-year-old mother, Florence Dunn, died less than three months ago. She had lived two doors down from her son and made breakfast for him - and any other family member who showed up in her kitchen - every morning.

In addition to his daughter Pamela, survivors include his wife, Shirley Jennings Mullins; another daughter, Paula "Renee" Mullins of Covington; sons, Robert "Snookie" Mullins Jr. , Darryl Mullins and Michael Mullins, all of Covington, Jeffery Mullins of Erlanger and John "Ric" Mullins of Villa Hills; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ethel Gertrude Napier, 91, 96 Lovelace Subdivision, London, Ky., died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Baptist Regional Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 17, 1914, in Lincoln County, Ky. She was a homemaker and attended Laurel Chapel Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Phelps; her mother, Margaret Phelps; her husband, Homer Ralph Napier; her brother, William Phelps; and her sister, Margie Brown.

She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Napier) McCarty, London, and Anna Lee Martin, Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Walter Phelps, Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Steve Martin, Mequon, Wisc., David Martin, Virginia Beach, Va., and Bryan McCarty, London; and seven great-grandchildren, Elaine, Karen and Leslie Martin, Mequon, Wisc., Ashley Brown and Morgan McCarty, London, and Jessica and Justin Cantrell of Virginia Beach, Va.

Born August 31, 1914, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Talitha Bourne Holtzclaw. She was a teacher, employee of Palm Beach and member of Willow Grove Baptist Church. She was the widow of James R. Payne.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Underwood and Patricia Tapp, both of Lancaster; a son, Bob Payne of Conway, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A native of Lincoln Co., he was born Feb. 20, 1936 to the late Virgil and Bee Sims Reynolds. He was a graduate of Memorial High School, a 25 year veteran of the Air Force, and had retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs after 19 years.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carol and Boyce Reynolds; and a sister, Janell Stone.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Reynolds of Prattville, AL.; two sons, Mark G. Reynolds of Prattville, AL., and Robert D. Reynolds of Clearwater, FL.; one daughter, Donna (Kevin) Egan of Prattville, AL.; one brother, Leo (Lucille) Reynolds of Florida; four sisters, Opal (Earl) Smith, Alma Jean (Ralph) Delk, and Betty (Nolan) Scott all of Kentucky, and Marcia (Harold) Faulkner of Florida; six grandchildren, Justin Reynolds, Lauren Reynolds, Patrick Egan, Katie Egan, Brian Egan, and Kayla O’Connor; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

STANFORD - Joe L. Robbins, 83, of Stanford, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 17, 1920, he was the son of the late Jake and Verzilla Greene Robbins.

He was a car salesman for 40 years, a member of Stanford Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 60 F&Am for 50 years and a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lawrence Robbins; two daughters, Pamela R. Clark of Louisville and Deborah R. Howell of Berea; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Capitola Wheeler Roberts, of Manchester, Ky., died Tuesday Dec. 19, 1989 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was 73 years old.

James Newton Roberts, 75, of Liberty, Route 4, died Monday Dec. 12 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital following a stroke suffered Sunday. He was a retired farmer and a member of Hustonville Christian Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Tomes Roberts; a son, Vertrice Roberts, Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Terrell Crim, Louisville; two brothers, Walter and Cyrus Roberts, Hustonville; two sisters, Mrs. Essie Kirby, Hustonville, and Mrs. Flora Elmore, Hilton; and two grandchildren, James Robert and Ronald Lee Terrell.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week at 2:00 p.m. at the Hustonville Christian Church by the Rev. Paul Livesay. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery. W.L. Mrs. Martha George Roberts, 94, died Oct. 20 (sic) after an illness of four and a half years, in the home of her son, Walter Roberts.

The funeral was held at the Moreland Funeral Home with the Rev. Hobert Lynn officiating. Interment was in the Hustonville Cemetery with W.L. Pruitt in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Roberts, daughter of Emory and Frances McDonald, was born and reared in Casey County. She leaves six children, Walter, C.H., and Mrs. Lonzo Spaulding of Hustonville, J.N. Roberts of Liberty, Mrs. Flora Elmore of Gilpin, and Mrs. Mack Kirby of Cincinnati; 33 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and several great grandchildren; one brother, Seth McDonald of Gilpin.

Born June 6, 1962, in East St. Louis, Ill., she was the daughter of Eugene Goss and the late Ella Elizabeth Mullins Goss.

She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Rogers and two

STANFORD - Larry Gene Rowland, 52, of Middleburg Road, died Saturday at his home.

Born Oct. 10, 1953, in Danville, he was a son of Helen Tinsley Rowland of Hustonville and the late George N. Rowland. He was a former employee of B&B Electrical Contractors of Lexington and a Baptist.

MORELAND - Robert W. Russell, 78, of Indianapolis, died Monday at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born March 11, 1928, in Ellisburg, Casey County, he was the son of the late William C. and Sophia B. Grubbs Russell. He was a set-up technician and inspector at Lau Industries in Indianapolis for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Brown Russell; two sisters, Rita J. Desiderio and Betty Lou Humphrey; three half brothers, Jerry, Phillip and Tony Russell; and a half sister, Lora Crowe.

Local services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Scott Wilson. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

A native of Woodford Co., he was born June 17, 1957 to Jack Ryan, Jr. and the late Mary Eudena Brown Ryan. He was a truck driver driving for Fred Cain Farm Equipment and a member of the Danville Church of God.

Other survivors include his wife, Helen Cornett Ryan of Stanford; one daughter, Shelby Jean (William Henry) Corey of Junction City; three sons, David Lyle (Melissa Dawn) Ryan, Jr. of Danville, and Daniel Lyle Ryan and Alex Nathaniel Ryan both of Stanford; four brothers, Norman (Norma) Ryan and Gary (Pam) Ryan both of Harrodsburg, Ricky Ryan of Burgin, and Timmy (Dolly) Ryan of Stanford; two sisters, Darlene (Roy) Watts of Salvisa and Sharon (Bill) Price of Danville; two grandchildren, Matthew Steven Corey and Kristen Nicole Corey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11 at the Danville Church of God with Rev. Andy Turner officiating. Burial was in Double Springs Cemetery.

MORELAND - Services for Mary Elizabeth Curtis Sallee, 85, of Parksville, formerly of Lincoln County, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Larry Parker and Dennis Hisle. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Born Oct. 5, 1920, in Stanford, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Eva Clymer Curtis. She was a homemaker and a member of Moreland United Methodist Church for 50 years (now Westside United Methodist Church). She was the widow of John. W. Sallee.

Survivors include two sons, John W. Sallee Jr. of Stanford and Robert L. Sallee of Lancaster; two daughters, Sue Wilson of Parksville and Anne Raley of Cincinnati; three sisters, Betty League of Troy, Ill., Peggy Fuell of Indianapolis, and Christine Ingram of Mooresville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John W. Sallee III, Ronnie, Scott, Chad and Justin Sallee and Bo Raley. Honorary pallbearers are Pam Moody, Mischelle Pike, Jamie Ray, Laurie Morgan, Kara Lewis, Marla Naylor, Kelsie and Kennedy Sallee. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bill and Jimmy Sallee. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

MORELAND - Services for Vernon Lee Sears, 72, of Deer Park Ohio, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Scott Wilson. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.

Born Jan. 20, 1934, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joe and Mary Johnson Sears.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Sears of Mount Orab, Ohio; three sons, Jerry Sears and Billy Sears, both of Hamilton County, Ohio, and David Sears of Brown County, Ohio; three daughters, Patricia Thomas of Hamilton County, and Debbie Campahmor and Annette Sears, both of Brown County; a brother, Dawson Sears of Danville; three sisters, Eva Downs of Stanford, Ruby Drury of Harrodsburg and Elsie Kidd of Danville; a half-sister, Nellie Payton of Liberty; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

STANFORD - Roberta Simpson, 73, of Stanford, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug., 23, 1932, in Jeffersonville, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Belle Rogers Griffin. She was a seamstress at Cowden Manufacturing Co. and GENESCO. She was the widow of Tony Simpson.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Naylor, Marcia Smith and Kathy Bourne, all of Stanford; a brother, Henry Griffin Jr. of Indiana; three sisters, Jane Montgomery of Danville, Rebecca Beck of Louisville and Jenoma Hinkle of Danville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Simpson Avery.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by Dale Denton.

MORELAND - Peachie Qualls Snow, 84, of Hustonville, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 9, 1921, in Ellisburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Myrtle Wilson Qualls. She was a homemaker and member of Westside Community United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Carl Snow.

Survivors include a daughter, Hazel Hamilton of Moreland; a son, Jackie Snow of Hustonville; four brothers, James Qualls Jr. of Hebron, Clarence Qualls of Hustonville, Marshall Qualls of Junction City and Lawrence Qualls of Liberty; two sisters, Bessie Qualls and Ruby Merrell, both of Hebron; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward Parton and the Rev. Vola Brown. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carlos and Brad Hamilton, David and Donnie Qualls, Ronnie Smith and Greg Padgett.

Cecil Marcus Wheeler of Naples, Fla., died Thursday, August 19, 1993 at Naples Community Hospital.

He was one of only two people in the world with expertise in water pollution problems. He worked as a consultant in this field with the United Nations, South Africa, Brazil, Cameron and Austria among those who sought his help. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Tapscott Wheeler; a daughter, Cecilia K. Wheeler of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Hazel Gooch of Danville and Josphine Morgan of Liberty.

Graveside services were August 22 at Hustonville Cemetery with the Rev. Don Barnett officiating.

Born June 9, 1949, in Danville, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lois Maddox Wilcher. He was a truck driver, a heavy machine operator, and owned and operated Sundance Motorcycle Shop and Sundance Recording Studio. He was a member of Moreland Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Dale Pence Wilcher; a son, Marshall Wilcher of Hustonville; and two brothers, Jerry and Ronnie Wilcher, both of Moreland.

Pallbearers will be Rick Presley, Scott and Dave Sheene, Ben Von Gruenigen, Chris Southerland and Richard Rousey.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Gene Strange. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.

STANFORD - Glen F. Williams, 65, of Waynesburg, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 1, 1940, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late Claude O. and Hattie Mae Siler Williams. He was a farmer.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Brock of Waynesburg; and a brother, Eugene Williams of Stanford.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Cecil Roundtree and Vernon Dowell. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Essley V. Wilson, 82, of Maxey Valley, formerly of Junction City died Friday, April 7 at his residence.

A native of Jamestown, Russell Co., he was born Sept. 1, 1923 to the late Alvis and Nora Vertie Gosser Wilson. He was a member of the Maxey Valley First Church of God and the widower of Nettie McQueary Wilson.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Haskel Paul Wilson and one granddaughter, Allisia Gilpin.

Other survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Eugene) Ellis of Maxey Valley; three sons, Clinton (Judy) Wilson of Garrard Co., and Harold (Sondra) Wilson and Danny (Aquitta) Wilson both of Junction City; two brothers, Ralph Wilson of Stanford and Marvin Wilson of Science Hill; three sisters, Dorothy Hubble of Moreland, Glenna Rice of Junction City, and Judy Perkins of Stanford; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Packy and Jeff Wilson, Troy Ellis, Gary “Doc” Rothwell, Summer and Laci Dismuke, and Ashley Moore. Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Born July 12, 1926, in Morgan County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John M. and Verthena Bicknell Jones. She worked at Whirlpool Appliance Corp. for five years and was retired from Palm Beach Co. after 40 years. She was a member of Bohon Road Baptist Church and the widow of John C. Wilson.

Survivors include a son, Marvin Wilson of Moreland; a daughter, Paulette Calia of Harrodsburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spurlin Funeral Home by Ken Calia. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Molly Gertrude “Gertie” Kennedy Yates, 89, of Shea Villa Court, Stanford, died Friday, March 24 at her residence.

A native of Lincoln Co., she was born June 2, 1916 to the late David Vincent Kennedy and Dolly Daugherty Kennedy. She was a loving mother and “Granny”, member of Blue Lick Baptist Church since she was 14 years old where she loved her Sunday School class dearly and always looked forward to sending and receiving birthday cards, and was the widow of Charles Clyde Yates.

Survivors include her son, Charles Lee (Shelia) Yates of Stanford; daughters, Sally Dean (Gordon) King of Stanford, Barbara (Jackie) Greer of Richmond, and Betty (James) Stogsdill of Stanford; sisters, Emma Hays Anderson of Danville and Virginia Martin of McKinney; seven grandchildren, Ricky Sowers, Gary Sowers, Tammy Yates, Gena Greer, Robby Sowers, Dena Greer Masters, and Jaime Demrow; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Sowers, Kaylee Sowers, Shaina Sowers, Molly Kennedy Demrow, and Alek Masters; three step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 27 at the Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with the Rev. Wayne Stephens officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
