McANINCH, William Died 14 August 2004 

STANFORD - William McAninch, 69, of Moccasin Road, died Saturday at his home. 

Born April 30, 1935, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary 
Pittman McAninch. He was a self-employed gate hauler and the widower of Shirley C Hodge 
McAninch. 

Survivors include a companion, Fredia Fletcher of Stanford; three sons, Joe McAninch of 
Waynesburg, Willie McAninch of Danville and Jerry McAninch of Stanford; five daughters, 
Violet Petula, Mary Kidd and Carolyn Burchfield, all of Stanford, and Sarah Phelps and 
Dolly Yocum, both of Waynesburg; two brothers, Bobby and Jerry McAninch, both of Casey 
County; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny R McAninch. 

Services will be 11AM Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by the Reverend Rick Naylor. Burial 
will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Richard Naylor, George Yocum, Shorty Gooch, David Burchfield, Ben 
Norman, Ray Phillips and Jimmy Gooch. 

Visitation is 6-9PM today at Fox Funeral Home.

be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Ernest Martin. 
Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
She died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. 
Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late 
Joe T. and Effie Lunsford Bogie. She was retired from the Bank of 
Danville and the widow of Jerome McElfresh.
Survivors include two brothers, William Bogie of Port Charlotte, Fla., 
and Alvin Bogie of Frankfort; two sisters, Jo Ann Dietz of New Castle, 
Ind., and Nell Davis of Stanford.
Pallbearers will be Mike and Greg Dietz, Tommy Davis, Ira Fannin, Mike 
Johnson, Wayne Berry, Bill Bogie and Darrell Ward.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

McGuffey of Stanford, Jim and Sue Peek of Morelan, and Jasper and

Graveside services will be 6 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery by the 
Rev. Dennis Spencer.

the funeral.
She died Thursday at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. She was 
formerly of the Highland community of Lincoln County.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Moreland 
B. Smith and Senia Dell Walls. 
She was the widow of Hubert McGuffey and also was preceded in death by 
a daughter, Jean Owens.
Survivors include a son, Ranny McGuffey of Stanford; a daughter, 
Marilyn Dell Combs of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill and Greg Combs, Kevin McGuffey, Donnie 
Francis, Kelly Owens, and Fonzo McGuffey.

Born Oct. 28, 1921, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Kelly 
and Susie Chestnut McGuffey. 
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Mulroy McGuffey; a son, Alben "Sonny" 
McGuffey; two daughters, Susan Reed and Jacqueline McGuffey, both of 
Highland; two brothers, Harold McGuffey of Bowling Green and Orville 
McGuffey of Highland; a sister, Doris Coleman of Bradenton, Fla.; five 
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Methodist Church by the 
Revs. Don Scilley and Dennis Spencer. Burial will be in Highland 
Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 
18 of the American Legion.

Virgil L. McGuire

CRAB ORCHARD -- Virgil L. McGuire, 91, of Main Street, Stanford, died 
Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 5, 1910, in Halls Gap, he was a son of the late John William 
and Mamie Boone McGuire. He was a self-employed radio appliance builder 
and repairman and built the first television in Lincoln County. He was 
a member of Kings Mountain Nazarene Church.
He was the widower of Elizabeth Petrey McGuire.
Survivors include a son, James Kavanaugh McGuire of Circleville, Ohio; 
a daughter, Charlotte Detherage of West Chester, Ohio; a sister, 
Alberta Rogers of Stanford; three grandchildren and two 
great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel by 
Johnny Young and Paul Bastin. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs 
Cemetery. 
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Born June 4, 1938, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Frank 
and Nettie Maupin McKinney. He was a farmer, a Baptist and a member of

McNew of Nashville, Ind., and the late Raymond McNew. He was a 
self-employed painter and wallpaper contractor.

Tabitha Hunt of Morristown, Ind.; a son, Brian McNew of Shelbyville;

Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda N. McQueary; three sons, Freddie 
McQueary of Stanford, Shannon Lynn of Moreland and Lawrence Lynn of

Rose L. Coleman Manning of Waynesburg. He was an employee of Belterra 
Casino and Resort in Vevay, Ind. He was an Air Force veteran, a member 
of Double Springs Baptist Church, and a 1983 graduate of Lincoln County 
High School.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Joy Manning of Waynesburg; a 
daughter, Kristy S. Manning of Richmond; two brothers, Robbie Manning

Fort Logan Hospital.
Born April 15, 1920, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Willie 
J. and Georgia Adams Manuel. He was a farmer and construction worker. 
He was a member of Fall Lick Pentecostal Church and served as 
missionary to Fort Logan extended care unit and Lincoln County Jail.
Survivors include seven daughters, Diana Mounce, Patricia Napier, Debra 
Stickler and Carrollee Baker, all of Stanford, Sherry Napier of Garrard 
County, Sandra Davis of Berea, and Georgia Shoemaker of Crab Orchard; 
four sons, Jay, John and Donald Manuel, all of Stanford, and David 
Manuel of Lexington; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Manuel Jr.; and a daughter, 
Mary Cathleen Manuel.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by John 
Manuel. Burial will be in Manuel Cemetery.

Robert Maples

MORELAND -- Robert Maples, 83, of Hustonville died Thursday.
Born Aug. 27, 1918, in Casey County, he was the son of the late James 
and Ella Hall Maples. He was a farmer and truck driver. He also was a 
former member of Hustonville City Council and a former Hustonville 
firefighter. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a Navy veteran. He was the 
widower of Georgie Maples.
Survivors include three sons, Mike, Larry and Roger Maples, all of 
Hustonville; four daughters, LaVern Russell of Hustonville, Dorothy 
Strickland of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Bonnie Vaughn of Danville and 
Susie Walls of Hustonville; two brothers, Everett Maples of Harrodsburg 
and Freeman Maples of Hustonville; seven grandchildren; and six 
great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. 
Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.

a sister, Ruth Ballard of Stanford; and two grandsons.

Theresa Holtzclaw Milburn, 88, of 100 Nancy Avenue, died Saturday at her residence.
Born July 24, 1914, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Sweeney and Ophelia Walker Holtzclaw. 
She attended Stanford Elementary School and was a graduate of Stanford High School. A graduate of 
Campbellsville College, she earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown College in 1937 and a master's degree 
in education from the University of Kentucky in 1957. She was a retired school teacher, having taught more than 40 years in area schools, 
including Lincoln County High and elementary schools and Perryville, Jennie Rogers and Hogsett elementary schools, as well as in private 
schools in New Richmond, Ohio, and Indian Hills, Ohio. She belonged to the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the National Education 
Association. She was a long-time member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and Perryville Baptist Church. She was 
predeceased by her husband, William Isaac "Tobe" Milburn.Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Sue Milburn of Danville; two 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at her residence by the Rev. Barry 
Harmon. Burial will be in Perryville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at her residence.

Miss Belle Mitchum
The remains of Miss Belle Mitchum were laid to rest in Buffalo Springs 
Cemetery Friday morning after funeral services by Rev. C.C. Wattren, 
pastor of one of the Baptist churches of Danville, and Mr. William 
Severance of this city. She had been a member of the Church of Christ 
for many years. Deceased was born in Lincoln County but had lived in 
Boyle for some time, making her home with her sister, Mrs. Alfred 
Coulter. She was 76 years old and a splendid woman. Miss Mitchum was 
a sister of the wife of the late George W. Goodrich for many years a 
merchant at Rowland.

Baptist Church in Danville and the widow of James M. Neadow.

Patterson and Ruth Brackett, both of Danville.

sheriff and was retired owner of Newlands Electrical Service. He was a

World War II, earning the rank of staff sergeant and receiving the 
World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct 
Medal and the Asiac Pacific Ribbon.
