WHITAKER born July 10, 1846 and died Feby 4, 1871 Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord Above transcribed by Patricia Cooper, August 1992. Further identification of the above, in case you want/need it: Penelope's middle name was Edwards and Caroline's was Lucretia (same as her mother). They are identified by parents (their parents were my 3d ggparents, twice, since I descend from two other daughters!); they were also gdaus of William W./Penelope Whitaker. Their paternal gparents were John Gorin and wife Elizabeth Franklin of Glasgow, Barren Co. (and VA before that). William W[hite] Whitaker (my 4th ggf), I don't think identifying his parents is too helpful, since they lived/died in MD, not KY, but I can if you want. He had a sister who also lived/died in Logan Co., Margaret m. James Wilson, and a brother, Henry Robert (who married Mary Edwards, Penelope's sister) and died young, leaving a son, Washington Whitaker, who also died young. William W. Whitaker's wife (my 4th ggm) was Penelope Edwards, daughter of Benjamin Edwards/Margaret Beall (of Edwards Hall, Elkton, and other places before that). Susan C[aroline] Whitaker was a daughter of James Gough/Rebecca Davis of Woodford Co., and a sister of Sylvester P. (so she was Carrie Morrow's aunt) and of my 3d ggf, Joseph Henry Gough (there were numerous other Gough siblings, BTW). Benjamin E[dwards] Whitaker was a son of William White Whitaker/Penelope Edwards. Benjamin E. (probably also Edwards) Whitaker, 1846-1871, was a son of Benjamin E. Whitaker/Susan Caroline Gough. Other graves, not found in 1992, but previously transcribed (at least twice): "Bennie E. Whitaker, born 6 August 1881, died 12 June 1882" (a son of Joseph Brown Whitaker/Sabra Frances Bailey, gson of Benjamin E. Whitaker/Susan Caroline Gough); "Joseph B. Whitaker, born 11 September 1884, died 8 June 1887" (same as Bennie E.); "Mae [or Mary] Cecilia Whitaker, born 9 April 1875, died 19 July 1888" (same as Bennie E. and Joseph B.); "Mrs. Margaret E. Whitaker - she was Margaret Evelyn Beall Whitaker Waggoner, [Waggoner being her married name], born 18 December 1807, died 23 September 1838, married 15 July 1830." Another daughter of William Whitaker/Penelope Edwards, and wife of Robert J. Waggoner. Many thanks to Patricia Cooper who transcribed this cemetery.
