From the Adair
County (KY) News, April 25, 1900
We clip the following from the
Lebanon Enterprise [newspaper]:
"Prof. James E. Willis,
assistant teacher in the
Bradfordsville Normal and High
School, eloped Wednesday with
Miss Verna Glasscock, the
beautiful daughter of Mr. James
H. Glasscock, Bradfordsville.
Their intentions were known to
no one and their elopement was a
great surprise."
Prof. Willis was reared in
[Adair] County--a representative
of one of the best families and
is a young lawyer, as well as a
teacher, whose energy and
ability will produce good
returns wherever he may locate.
Miss Glasscock is a charming
young lady and has visited
[Columbia]. These young people
have the good wishes of their
many friends in this part of the
country.
(Another source -- History of
Kentucky, Judge Charles Kerr,
Editor, Vol. 5 (1922) -- states
that Miss Glasscock was born in
1884 and that she first married
Mr. Willis "and is now the wife
Lawrence Walker.") |
