Company
"K" State Guards Given an
Honor...
The Lebanon Falcon [newspaper]
says Capt. J.E. Willis and
Lieut. George Cleaver, of
Company K, State Guards at
Bradfordsville, were in
Frankfort last week as a
committee from their company to
secure orders for their boys to
accompany the Governor on his
trip to St. Louis upon the
occasion of the dedication of
the World's Fair grounds in
April. They had the pleasure of
personal interviews with Gov.
Beckham and Adg't. General D.R.
Murray, in which they were given
assurance that Company K should
be included in the guard of
honor. There will be eight
companies of fifty men each and
two battalions, A. and B. of
Louisville, [to] accompany the
Governor on this trip. The
number selected from Marion
county boys will depend on their
efficiency. An inspection will
be made between the 15th and
20th of April and the best men
will be selected. All the guard
will organize in Louisville.
Capt. Willis is very
enthusiastic concerning his
company and never loses an
opportunity to advance their
pleasure or profit, and the boys
should appreciate his efforts on
their behalf.
