John A Kimmel, of the
popular grocery firm of Kimmel & Rudolph. of Paducah, was born in Ballard
County, Ky., in 1851. He is the youngest and only surviving child of Israel
Kimmel and America M. Kimmel, nee, Ashley. His father was born within the
present limits of Ballard County, where he spent many years in merchandising,
and where he died in 1878, at the age of fifty-two years. His mother, America
M. Kimmel is still living and a resident of Ballard County. John A. received
a practical business training in his father's store, in Ballard County,
where he continued business until removing to Paducah, in May, 1884. He
here associated with F.G. Rudolph, in the grocery and provision business,
succeeding the firm of Nichols & Rudolph, and is located at No. 26
Market Street. Mr. Kimmel was married in 1870 to Miss Alice Rutherford,
who died in 1873. His present wife to whom he was married in Charlestown,
Mo., was Miss Annie Brown. They are members of the Baptist Church, of Paducah,
and have one child.
