Oaks is located on Ky. 450 aka Oaks Road at the rail road crossing of the NC & St. L Rail Road. Back in the early years of the 20th century the train stopped there, there was a general store and a livery stable, two hotels and of course a saloon or two. People in Marshall county would leave home and travel all day by horse and wagon and be close to Oaks at nightfall. A creek south of Oaks was given the name "Camp Creek" because the travelers would camp there
and go on into Paducah the next day. Some would livery their teams at Oaks and catch the train in to Paducah. Oaks was a busy place back then.
