I Thomas Newman of the County of McCracken and State of Kentucky ---? being
very sickly and weak in the body but sound in mind and memory, thanks be to
God. Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is
appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this my last will and
testament Viz;Principally and first of all, I give my soul into the hands of the Almighty
God that gave it , and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in a
decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executor. Nothing
doubting but at the last resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
Almighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has
pleased God to bless me with in this life. I give, demise, and dispose of
the same in this manner and form.First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Newman, I give my
part ? of my fathers estate. Also I give ----? all my real and personal
estate -----? one tract of land lying in Grayson County, near Litchfield
which I wish to be sold for the purpose of Securing ? her home which I
wish to be equally divided between her and my son Andrew Newman, which
estate I wish to be truly possessed by the said Elizabeth Newman, during
her natural life to help to raise my children. If she remains single, and
if she should marry again, I wish her to give bond and security to my other
Executor for my estate which I wish to be divided amongst my lawful heirs
----? the youngest sons, Hiram, Thomas, and Eli P., I wish to have fifty
dollars each -----? and the balance of my estate to be equally divided
amongst my children, except Nancy Hill to have fifty dollars ----? ---?
----? ----? which she has received.I do make and ordain Elizabeth Newman my beloved wife and Andrew Newman
the sole executors of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby
utterly disallow, revoke, and disanull all and every other former
testament, wills legagis ?, bequeaths and executors by me in any wise
before should ----? and ratifying and confirming this and no other to
be my last will and testament.In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this --? day of

At a County Court begins and held for the County aforesaid at the house
of Luke Wortiman ? ( the place of holding courts) on the 20th day of
March 1826 the foregoing last will and testament of Thomas Newman,
deceased was exhibited in court and proven by oath of Isaac Lovelace one of
the subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be filed and at a court held
as aforesaid on the 18th day of September 1826 the said will was ordered
upon the proof of one witness which is done accordingly.In witness whereof I as clerk of said Court have hereunto set my hand
this 21st day of September 1826
