Joseph Lawrence Head
died at the Pewee Valley Hospital Sunday February 11, at 2
a.m. He was taken sick Friday. A physician was called
and after hours of suffering and an operation was decided
upon. He was taken to the hospital at 10 p.m. Saturday night
and passed away on the operating table.
Mr. Head was a son of Lawrence
and Susan Head and was born April 15, 1868, near LaGrange
and spent his entire life in and near LaGrange. He had for
many years been a member of the Christian Church.
On November 9, 1892 he married Miss Sammie Williams who survives
him. Surviving also are two daughters, Mrs. Al Hoffman of
LaGrange and Mrs. J. H. Goggin of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons
Warren Head of LaGrange and Lawrence Head of Cincinnati ; two
sisters Miss Dora Head and Mrs. C. C. McRoberts and two brothers, J.
M. Head and Charles Head, all of LaGrange.
Funeral services were held at 10:30
Tuesday morning at the Christian Church with Mr. C.C. Klingman in
charge. There was a profusion of flowers. Interment was in the
Valley of Rest. The pall bearers were Messrs. J. C. Haffler,
Hall Ratcliff, L. H. Morgan, Wilder Overstreet, Lan Taylor, Flem
Abbott, Robert Guthrie and R. H. Snyder.
Among those from a distance were Mrs.
J. H. Goggin of Chattanooga Tenn.; Mr. Doc Williams of
Smithfield; Mr. Lawrence Head of Cincinnati; Mrs. Robert
Hansbrough, Miss Pearl Hansbrough, Miss Emma Julian, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Williams, all of Louisville.
