Monroe age 21,
enlisted as a Private, in Falmouth,
KY October 13, 1861, for a period of
three years.
On October 23, 1861, he was promoted
from Private to Sergeant. He was
promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on
27 Dec 1862. He then enlisted in
Company A, Kentucky 18th Infantry
Regiment
on 08 Feb 1862 and was promoted to
Full 1st Lieutenant on 01 Jan 1864.
He was promoted to Full Captain on
01 Apr 1865. Mustered out on 18 Jul
1865 at Louisville, KY.
He
stood 5'8 1/2" with black hair,
black eyes and a dark complexion. He
was the son of William & Harriet
Monroe. Born March 1841 in Pendleton
County and his occupation was listed
as farmer.
