1832- John Redinhour age 75, as of 28
Oct 1833, of Pendleton Co. KY-States his
case at the court of Pendleton Co. KY,
for a Rev War pension. Enlisted in the
Army ___, with Capt Bell, in the 5th
Regt of the Line, under Capt Bell,
[either Thomas Bell or Samuel Bell,] one
was the Capt the other Lieut.
for three years in Staunton Augusta Co.
VA. Was marched to Hillsborough,
NC. The Regt was commanded by Col.
Bluford and had joined Gen. Green's army
in NC, and marched to Guilford court
house. He was in the battle s of
Guilford Court house and Jamestown. He
received his discharge at Petersburgh,
VA. He believes his name would be
found on the roll of the regular army
or
state troops of VA. The court declared
him to be a Rev War soldier. Notarized

age about 70 of Harrison Co. KY-States
he is well acquainted with John
Reddenhour, who was born a few miles
from Staunton, Augusta Co. VA,
mentioned the bad treatment from his
father. Vouched he was eligible for a
Rev War
Pension. [Notarized]
25 April 1834- Certificate of
Pension, #26682 KY, issued for John
Redinhour. Inscribed on the Roll
of KY at the rate of $80.00 per annum,
to commence 4 March 1831; Recorded
Book E, Vol 7 page 96, 30 March 1838 -
William Baxter age 86, of Marion Co. MO,
formerly from Harrison Co. KY- States he
was in the Rev War and joined the
service under Capt William Payne at
Fredericksburg VA. It was during his
service that he became acquainted with
John Ridenour, who was in the
Regular service and
believes he lived near Staunton, VA.

joined the Army in Blanton Co. NC, a
visitor to Pendleton Co. KY- States he
was acquainted with John Redenhour, and
was with him at the Battle of Guilford,
and messed with him, was with him
10-12 months after the battle, after
which he knew nothing more of him,
until passing through Pendleton Co. KY
Was also with him at Staunton, VA. [

paid fee of $4.00 for copy of a John
Redenhours record of the United States. [Possible
record listed below, of Nov 1838]

circuit court trial on the grand jury
indictment for perjury on 11 Nov 1837
of John Redenhour is dismissed.18 Feb
1839- notation refering to a letter of
this date to
P. S. Loughborough, U.S. Att, di.
KY, "this man not entitled to a
pension. 20 Nov1844- A letter signed by
L. C. Suggeth, Long Lick, Scott Co. KY,
refering to a letter of 12 Nov 1844,
requested they return John Redinhour's
pension Certificate as he was indicted
for perjury, and is not entitled to
a pension 08 May 1848- Lewis Myers of
Grant Co. KY- States he has been
acquainted, as a small boy, with John
Readenour since 1816, and vouched for
him to receive a Rev War Pension about
1838. He, at the request of Old Mr.
Readenour, went to Marion Co. MO to get
a disposition of William Baxter for
defence in the Perjury Trial. Old man
Baxter had lived in Harrison Co. KY for
many years. John could neither read
nor write and unable to tell of the
spelling of his name or the family name.

of John's, it was spelled Ridener, Ridnour,

believe this to be John's son-in-law.

of Pendleton Co. KY- States he has been
acquainted and lived as a neighbor to
John Readenour for 35 years. Vouched
for him to be reinstated on the Rev
War Pension list. Also states John can
not read or write. [Notarized]
8 May 1848- William Dance age
72, of Pendleton Co. KY- States he has
be acquainted and lived near John
Readenower for 43 years. Vouched for
him to be reinstated on the Rev War
Pension List. [Notarized]
8 May 1848-Martin Fugate age
near 72 formerly of Pendleton Co. Ky,
but now of Grant Co. KY- States he
has been acquainted with, and a neighbor
of John Readenower for 44 years.
Vouched for
him to be reinstated on the Rev War
Pension List. [Notarized]
10 July 1856-Letter from
Honorable Samuel F. Swope, House of
Reprsentatives, [to whom not given]
stated John Ridenhour, now deceased, was
issued a certificate of pension that was
later suspended before the trial of
perjury. for which he was acquitted.
Mr. Ridenhour died about 1844 without
his pension
being restored. Mr Swope recommened the
Pension be restored in behalf of the
family.
Other letters over the years

other than his name could not be
found on any muster roll or pay roll.

13 Sept 1932- Mrs Frank M.
Smith 106 N. Miller St, Cynthiana, KY,
wrote a letter to Dept Of Pensions,
stating she had received the following
data by the KY. Historical Society of
Frankfort,KY; John Ridinhour Private
April 25, 1934- $80.00 age 77 North
Carolina Line. She requested a copy of
the statement he made in making his
application. Also stated her great
grandmother was a Readenour. But no
names found in DAR records.
23 Oct 1932- Letter to Mrs
Frank M. Smith, referencing her letter
relative to John Ridinhour, and
referring to the information obtained
from papers on file in the Rev War claim
for pension S.38329. to wit: born 27
Oct. 1757; enlisted in Staunton,
Augusta Co. VA, served in Capt.
Thomas or Samuel Bell's Virginia CO. and
Col. Bufford's VA Regt; length of
service three years. Allowed a pension
on his application executed 17 Sept 1832
while a resident of Pendleton Co.
KY. Soldiers father was living at time
of enlistment, not named. Refers to his
brothers George Redinhour, killed in
Battle of Brandywine and Joseph
Redinhour as age 71, living in 1833 in
Lewis Co. KY. name of mother not shown.
also states; in 1839 children and grand
children of John Redinhour were referred

Kauffman. Her great Great Grandfather
married a Kauffman, and he drew a Rev
War pension, but she does not know his
given name. also was a pension paid to
John Northcutt, and what was his wife's
maiden name?

this office has the record of any
soldier with the
surname Redinhour who married a
Kauffman. He indicated no record found
based on this info [Northcutt or
Kauffman].
