Darlene Pressley,
41, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, April 8,
2003 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South,
Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Keturah
Street Church of God, Newport.
Survivors include her husband, J. T.
Pressley; sons, Josh McCullah of Florence
and Jeremy McCullah of Hebron; daughters,
Amy McCullah and Emiy Pressley, both of
Butler; mother, Pauline Shaw of Falmouth;
brothers, Bill Shaw of Cincinnati, David
Shaw of Falmouth and Keith Shaw of Ludlow; a
sister, Sue Bays of Falmouth; and five
grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, April 11 at Keturah
Street Church of God.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.
Memorials may be made to Keturah Street
Church of God, 401 Keturah Street, Newport,
KY 41071.
Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport,
handled arrangements.
Gerda Warner,
55, of Southgate, passed away Thursday,
April 10, 2003 at the Northern Kentucky
Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport.
She was a retired activities director for
the Hillenbrand Convalescent Home in
Cincinnati, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Warner; a
son, Rob Warner of Southgate; and a
grandson.
Funeral services were held at the
convenience of the family.
Interment was in the Alexandria Cemetery.
Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick were in
charge of arrangements.
John
William “Bill” Childers, 66, of
Falmouth, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2003
at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.
He was born January 12, 1937 in Indiana, son
of the late James and Hallie O’Neal
Childers. He was a retired truck driver and
a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom
Hall, Butler.
He leaves two daughters, Brigitte Hart of
Falmouth and Christina Oaks of DeMossville;
three sons, Kelly Childers, Aaron Childers
and Shawn Childers, all of Falmouth; six
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
sisters, Barbara Hogle, Betty Mariannes,
Dorothy Robinson, Phyllis Harvey and Bonnie
Childers, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; and
brothers, Donald Childers of Rising Sun,
Indiana and Milburn Childers of
Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by his brothers, Robert Childers,
James Childers and Steve Childers, and his
sister, Marilyn Hendricks.
Funeral services wre Saturday, April 12 at
Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, with Don
Hogle officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of
your choice.
Lee Roy Whalen,
55, of Milford, passed away Sunday, April
13, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Born in Harrison County, May 6, 1947 to Ella
Lyle of Brooksville, he was a former
carpenter at Baker Concrete, a member of the
Milford Christian Church, a former Local 698
Union Steward and a United States Navy
veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his
wife, Rosa Smith Whalen of Milford; a son,
James E. Williams Jr. of Lexington; four
daughters and three sons-in-law, Rhoda and
Gilbert A. Crump of Berry, Sherri D. and
Joey Franklin of Harrison County, Marie and
Larry Winkle of Falmouth and Janie Nunnelley
of Milford; a brother, Ricky Lyle of
Cynthiana; eight grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16 at Ware Funeral Home in
Cynthiana, by Bro. Greg Perkins. Visitation
will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at
the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Bracken Memorial
Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the
American Cancer Society or the American
Heart Association.
Military services will be carried out by the
American Legion Post 109, Falmouth.
Mrs.
Thelma Marie
Thompson, 81, of Berry, passed away
Friday, April 11, 2003 at her home, after an
extended illness.
She was born in Needmore, Harrison County on
June 16, 1921, daughter of the late William
Henry and Alma Bedford Stone Limerick. She
was the last member of her paternal family.
She was a retired employee of the former
Jockey International Company, Cynthiana and
was a member of Stringtown Christian Church,
Grant County.
Preceding her in death were brothers,
William Robert and Albert Franklin Limerick,
sisters, Cora Allene Ryan, Fannie Belle
Dunaway and Anna Reid (Poodle) Thompson and
four half-siblings.
Mrs. Thompson was the wife of Ralph W.
Thompson and mother of Jerry Thompson of Dry
Ridge, Keith Thompson of Falmouth, Dale
Beagle of Berry and Linda Thompson of
Corinth; seven grandchildren, Teresa
McKenney, Robbie Thompson, Scott Beagle,
Chad Thompson, Amber Thompson, Mattnew
Thompson and Cecelia Lawson; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
April 15 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry,
with Bro. Hank McAdams officiating. Special
music will be shared by Kevin McKenny.
Serving as pallbearers will be Greg
Thompson, Mark Thompson, Bruce Thompson,
Doug Dunaway, Jeff Limerick and Pat
Limerick. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott
Beagle, Matthew Thompson, Jeremy King,
Robbie Thompson, Chad Thompson, Danny
Plummer and Dr. Don Stephens.
Interment will be in the Pythian Grove
Cemetery, Berry.
Memorials are suggested to Stringtown
Christian Church in Grant County or to the
Hospice of Hope in Maysville.
William Robert “Bill” Knock, 67, of
Cold Springs, passed away Sunday, April 6,
2003 at the Northern Kentucky Care and
Rehabilitation Center in Highland Heights.
He was an employee of the C & O Railroad. He
was a lifelong Campbell Countian.
Survivors include a son, Louis Knock of
Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Lee Ann Elam of
Bellbrook, Ohio; a brother, Richard Knock of
Union; sisters, Patricia Bianco of Villa
Hills and Bonnie Gray of Alexandria; four
grandchildren; a dear friend, Sue Stewart of
Alexandria; and nine nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 9 at
Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery,
Southgate.
