Billy Ray
Duzan, 32, of Germantown, Ky.,
passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 in
Mason County.
He was born in Mason County on April 21,
1971, son of the late Wayne Duzan and
Louise Swim Thoroughman. He was an
operating engineer in construction for
Goettle Construction Company. He had a
lot of love for farming and caring for
livestock. He was an avid collector of
John Deere items. He and his wife,
Lesley Cooke Duzan (whom survives his
passing), dated seven years before they
were married on January 6, 2001.
Also preceding him in death was a
brother, Danny Wayne Duzan.
Their first child is expected to be born
in September. Other survivors include
his mother and father-in-law, Joe and
Janice Cooke and brother-in-law, Jared
Cooke; brothers, David Duzan and Michael
Duzan; and a sister, Penny Conley.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 17
at Palmer Funeral Home in Germantown.
Interment was in the Maple Grove
Cemetery, Germantown.
Memorials are suggested to the
Germantown Volunteer Fire Department.
Chandler
Maloney, nine days old, of
Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away at home,
Saturday, May 17, 2003.
Survivors include his parents, Kevin and
Anna Maloney; a brother, Matthew, at
home; maternal grandmother, Tammy Henson
of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal
grandparents, Michael and Ruth Ann
Maloney of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal
great-grandparents, Harry and Ava
Maloney of Cincinnati, Ohio; paternal
great-grandfather, Leslie Rucker of
Youngstown, Ohio; and
great-great-grandmother, Ruth Martin, of
Wind Ridge, Pennsylvania.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until
the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday,
May 20 at Cooper Funeral Home in Grants
Lick.
Interment will be in the Peach Grove
Cemetery.
Charles Allen “Frizz” King, 73,
of Brooksville, passed away Tuesday, May
13, 2003 at home.
He was born on November 12, 1929 in
Bracken County, son of the late Harry
Wilson King and Mary Catherine (Peddicord)
Bowles. He was a farmer and a member of
the Willow Baptist Church. He married
Eileen (Teegarden) King on December 25,
1948, who preceded him in death on
December 26, 2001.
Also precedeing him in death were two
brothers, Jerry Dean King and Robert
Elwood King.
Survivors include children, Steve
(Bonnie) King of Brooksville and Jo Ann
(Myron) Johnson of West Chester, Ohio;
grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Snodgrass
of Wester Chester, Ohio, Brian McCray of
Maysville, Nicole Lynn Schmidt and
Edward Jonathan Schdmit, both of
Brooksville; two great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, May 15
at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in
Brooksville.
Interment was in the Bracken Memorial
Cemetery, Brooksville.

Baptist Church, 2535 Powersville-Willow
Road, Brooksville, KY 41004 or to the
Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station

Delores
Mae Buckner, 69, of
Independence, passed away May 10, 2003
at her home.
She was a self employed cook.
Survivors include a brother, Robert
McMains of Eubanks, Ky.; two sisters,
Carol McMains and Linda McMains, both of
Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of
the family.
Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, were
in charge of arrangements.
Isabella Cox,
86, of Charleston, West Virginia,
formerly of Newport and Mt. Olivet,
passed away May 14, 2003 at the
Charleston General Hospital in West
Virginia.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Donald E.
Cox of Havelock, North Carolina, James
M. Cox of California and David C. Cox of
Chino Valley, Arizona; two sisters,
Delia Cox of Tampa, Florida and Louise
Howard of Southgate; five grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday, May 17
at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in
California.
Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, were
in charge of arrangements.
Jack Joseph
Martin, 70, of Butler, passed
away Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the St.
Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.
Jack was born on August 24, 1932, son of
the late Delbert Martin and Salley Edith
Mullins Martin. He earned his Masters
Degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
He was a physical education teacher and
coach at Grant’s Lick Elementary School
for 22 years. He served in the United
States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member and deacon of Christ’s
Church at Eastside Park in Butler. He
was a Pendleton County farmer, a
Kentucky Colonel, member of the
Beekeeper’s Association, member of the
Kentucky Retired Teachers Association
and a member of the Limosin Cattle
Assocation.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle
Durham Martin; sons, David Martin of
Edgewood and Gary Martin and wife,
Sherry, of Science Hill, Ky.; a
daughter, Susan Cox and husband, Todd,
of Butler; two grandchildren, Ashley and
Kelsey Martin of Science Hill, Ky.;
mother, Edith Martin of Mt. Vernon; a
brother, Bill Martin of Mt. Vernon;
three sisters, Jean Shoemaker of Mt.
Vernon, Joyce Conner and Patricia Pyles,
both of El Paso, Texas.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.
Tuesday, May 20 at Peoples Funeral Home
in Butler. Funeral services will be at 2
p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at the funeral
home.
Interment will be in the Peach Grove
Cemetery, Pendleton County.
Janice
Rarrieck, 80, of Bethel, Ohio,
formerly of Pendleton County, passed
away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the
Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati,
Ohio.
Born July 25, 1922 in Hamilton County,
Ohio, she was the daughter of Lawrence
and Mildred Steele Sullivan. She married
William “Bill” Rarrieck on March 25,
1975 and her dear husband survives her
passing. She was an executive in sales
coordinating management with Cincinnati
Bell Telephone for 27 years. In
retirement, she became a certified
nursing assistant. She was a member of
the Cincinnati Bell Telephone Pioneer
Club.
She was preceded in death by her son,
Richard, and her brother, Bud Sullivan.
In addition to her husband, Bill
Rarrieck, she leaves three children,
Tammy Sue Rarrieck Raye of Richmond,
Ky., Donella Cline Rarrieck of Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida, and John Richard
Conosia of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; six
step-grandchildren; her sister-in-law,
Frances Sullivan of Williamsburg, Ohio
and her dear sister, Geraldine Pemberton
of Amelia, Ohio.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 17
at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with
Rev. Keith Reynolds officiating. Music
was shared by Adarin Williams. Special
reflections were given by Tony Rarrieck,
Alberta Rarrieck, and Clay Clifford.
Pallbearers were Frankie Rarrieck, Steve
Butts Jr., Steven Behymer, Randy Behymer,
Charlie Behymer, Eddie Rarrieck, Matt
Rarrieck and Tony Rarrieck.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.
Pauline Shaw,
58, of Falmouth, passed away Monday, May
12, 2003 at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of the
Keturah Street Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her
daughter, Darlene Pressley.
Survivors include Keith Shaw of Ludlow,
Bill Shaw of Cincinnati and David Shaw
of Falmouth; daughters, Sue Bays of
Falmouth, Jennifer Vaught and Anna
Vaught, both of Cincinnati; brothers, A.
D. Collins of Newport, Daniel Collins of
Louisville, Charles Collins of
Cincinnati and Johnny Collins of
Newport; a sister, Eileen Keller of
Bellevue; 16 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, May 16.

Robert
Lacen Hitch, 79, of Peach Grove,
passed away May 8, 2003 at home.
Robert was born June 12, 1923 in Paris,
Ky., son of Samuel and Gertrude
(Clifford) Hitch. He married Alma (Emminger)
Hitch of Falmouth on January 29, 1944.
He was retired from Yellow Freight
System in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1989.
He was a devout Christian, husband and
father of three children, Charles Robert
Hitch of McDonough, Ga., Samuel William
Hitch of Ft. Thomas and Conda Delite
Abbott of Collegeville, Pa.. He is also
survived by seven grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Robert’s remains was donated to medical
science.
Rubye Alice
Wyatt, 87, of Naples, Florida,
formerly of Falmouth, passed away
Sunday, May 18, 2003 at the Imperial
Health Care Center in Naples, Florida.
Born on January 25, 1916 in Pendleton
County, she was the daughter of Walter
Francis and America Elizabeth Wright
Bishop. She married William Edward Wyatt
on July 16, 1933 and her dear husband
preceded her in death on September 6,
1976. She was a sales clerk with the
former Moreland Drug Store for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by four
children, Betty Ann Crowley in 1991,
Billy Wyatt in 1991, Carol Jean Ockerman
in 1996 and Tony Wyatt in 1955.
She leaves one son, Bobby Lee Wyatt of
Naples, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and
18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday, May 22 at Woodhead Funeral
Home in Falmouth with Bro. Don Mays
officiating. A special reflection will
be shared by Kenny Ann Robers. Serving
as pallbearers will be David Crowley,
Pat Crowley, Bradley Wyatt, Brian Wyatt,
Rich Wyatt and Mitch Wyatt. The
visitation will be from 6-9 p.m.
Wednesday, May 21 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Riverside
Cemetery, Falmouth.

Stella Lee Hitt Browning, 96, of
Lexington, widow of Rolland Browning,
passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the
Hospice Care Center.
She was born July 18, 1906 in Robertson
County, daughter of the late Alfred and
Martha Ishmael Hitt. Stella was a member
of Broadway Baptist Church for 34 years
and participated in the Young At Heart
Club and the Craft Club at church.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her brother,
Ishmael Hitt.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Roy and Wanda Browning
of Lexington; two grandchildren, Clint
Browning of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina
and Dori Rhodus of Danville; three
great-grandchildren, Logan and Taylor
Browning of Ft. Bragg and Seth Rhodus of
Danville.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 14
at Broadway Baptist Church, with Pastor
Shannon R. Back and Rev. Christopher A.
Rieber officiating.
Interment was in the Powersville
Cemetery, Brooksville.
Memorial contributions may be directed
to Broadway Baptist Church or to the
Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Moore & Parker Funeral Home in
Brooksville were in charge of
arrangements.
Willis Trent,
81, of Cold Spring, passed away Sunday,
May 18, 2003 at home.
He was a retired foreman for the Duro
Block Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. He
was the father of the late Willie Thomas
Trent, who passed away in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Phoebie
Trent; two sons, Jerry Trent and Arlow
Trent, both of Brooksville; three
daughters, Bonnie Lindon of Dayton, Mary
Bihr of Cold Spring and Janice Cummins
of West Palm Beach, Florida; two
brothers, Earl Trent of Georgetown and
Gene Trent of Frankfort; a sister, Wanda
Sullivan of Middletown, Ohio; 15
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
two step-grandchildren; and three
step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m.
Tuesday, May 20 at Cooper Funeral Home
in Grants Lick. Funeral services will be
at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21 at the
funeral home.
Interment will be in the Evergreen
Cemetery, Southgate.
Elizabeth (Beth) Ann Gray Moore,
33, of Maysville, passed away Friday,
May 16, 2003 at home.
She was preceded in death by her
maternal grandfather, Lester Price and
her paternal grandparents, William and
Inez Gray.
She was born in Maysville on March 24,
1970, a daughter of Allen Gray of
Tollesboro and Carolyn Price Gray of
Maysville. Beth was the wife of Greg
Moore. She was a sales clerk for the
Maysville Wal-Mart store and was a
member of the Church of the Redeemed in
Maysville. She was a 1988 graduate of
Maysville High School and she had
attended Northern Kentucky University.
Besides her husband and her parents,
other survivors include three stepsons,
Gregory Allen Moore and Casey Douglas
Moore, both of Georgetown and Tyler
Washington Moore of Kansas City, Kansas;
two sisters, Mary (Ben) Chambers and
Stephanie Gray, both of Maysville; her
maternal grandmother, Hallie Price of
Falmouth; three nephews, Isaiah, Seth
and Matthew Chambers; and a host of
other close family members and friends.
Funeral services were at the Church of
the Redeemed Wednesday, May 21 with
Pastor Byron Mills and Pastor Tony Liess
officiating.
Interment was in the Washington Baptist
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Anderson, Guy
Thomas, Steve Chambers, Greg Hampton,
Shane Morgan, Alonzo Green and Raymond
Stewart. Honorary pallbearers were
Sharon Wallingford, Connie Gibbs,
Felicia Morgan, Tina Moore, Mickey Moore
and Mrs. Bickley.
Knox and Brothers Funeral Home were in
charged of arrangements.
Eugene
Wallin Feagan, 85, of
Brooksville, passed away Wednesday, May
21, 2003 at the Augusta Health Care
Center.
Eugene was born in Bracken County on
February 16, 1918, son of the late Grant
and Callie Cann Feagan. He worked for
the federal government as a tobacco
grader. He was a member of the Highland
Christian Church in Maysville. He
married Dorothy Day Feagan.
Also preceding him in death was a
sister, Mable Brothers and two brothers,
Herbert Feagan and Broadus Feagan.
Survivors include a son, David (Carolyn)
Feagan of Alexandria; a daughter, Linda
(Steve) Myers of Brooksville; seven
grandchildren, David Allen Feagan, Ann
(Wayne) Merkley, Nicole (Dave) Coopes,
Kendra (Bobby) Clos, Larissal (Rick)
Sumner, Kerry Teegarden and Christen
Myers; and five great-grandchildren,
Dayne Merkley, Hannah and Nigel Coppes,
Kortlyn Clos and Brooklyn Sumner.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 24
at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in
Brooksville.
Interment was in the Brooksville
Cemetery.

Frances Reed,
69, of Augusta, passed away Monday, May
19, 2003 at the Augusta Health Care
Center.
She was born in Robertson County on
April 9, 1934, daughter of the late
Thomas and Eva Fields. She was a
homemaker.
Preceding her in death was a sister,
Lucille Markwell and brothers, Calvin
Fields and Bill Fields.
Survivors include daughters, Vickie
Cracraft of Winchester and Robin
Nickoson of Augusta; a son, David Fields
of Augusta; six grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlos
Fields of Fayetteville, Ohio; and
sisters, Jewel Merill of Carlisle and
Christine Fields of Ohio.
Funeral services were Friday, May 23 at
Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Augusta.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery,
Augusta.

Goldie
Pearl Spegal, 67, of Falmouth,
passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at
St. Elizabeth Hospital South.
Mrs. Spegal was born in Kentucky on July
8, 1935, daughter of William and Sadie
Hewitt Work. She was a member of the
Short Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52
years, Richard Spegal; sons, Eugene
Spegal of Demossville and Jerry Spegal
of Falmouth; daughters, Judy Knipfer of
Greenville, South Carolina, Margaret
Pitzer of Dry Ridge, Karen Burby of
Ludlow and Debbie Justice of Falmouth;
brothers, Lee Work of Dry Ridge and Jim
Work of Falmouth; 19 grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, May 23 at
Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.
Interment was in the Mt. Carmel
Cemetery.
Kenneth
Lee Ridner, 67, of Foster,
passed away May 19, 2003 in Bracken
County.
Kenneth was born in McCreary County,
Ky., on July 19, 1935, son of the late
George Mahan and Ruth V. Ridner. He was
a retired tool designer for Dover
Elevator in Cincinnati, Ohiol. Kenneth
served his country in the United States
Navy during the Korean Conflict. He
enlisted on April 6, 1954 and served
until March 28, 1958.
Survivors include daughters, Sonya
Jacoby of Walnut Creek, California and
Carla Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; a
son, Stanley Ridner of Louisville;
sisters, Sue Bruce of Bonitay, Florida
and Patsy Lucille Bridewell of
Johnsville; and a brother, George David
Ridner of Palm Bay, Florida.
Funeral services were held at the
convenience of the family.
Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Augusta,
was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in the Bellevue Cemetery,
Boone County.
