O. Donald Wright,
88 of Cable passed away Tuesday, June 24,
2003 at 7:20 p.m. in Mercy McAuley Center,
Urbana, Ohio.
He was born January 28, 1915 in Falmouth,
Kentucky the son of the late Ira and Effie
(Cushman) Wright. Don was a member of the
Teamsters. He drove trucks all of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Ella B. (Adams)
Wright, Cable; daughter and son-in-law, Anna
Corrine and Pastor Robert Instine, Cable;
sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sue
Wright of Franklin, Ohio and Jerry and Anne
Wright of Cable; step-children, Laverne
King, Jack Dickison and David Dickison;
Grandchildren, Roberta Best, John M. Instine,
Kenneth Wright, Pam Wright, Michelle
O'Laughlin, Mack Wright, Holly Cupps and
Amanda Ressa; great-grandchildren; sister
Genevieve Hedgecock of St. Cloud, Fla.;
several nieces and nephews. He is preceded
in death by his first wife, Mildred
(Cummins) Wright, a son Joseph Ira Wright, a
daughter Patricia L. Mazure and two
brothers, Lester and John Wright.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June
28 in the Middletown Church of God, Cable,
Ohio with the Pastor Robert Instine
officiating. Interment followed in the
Jenkins Chapel Cemetery.
James T. Dean,
age 70, of Hwy. 177 in Butler passed away
June 21, 2003, at home. James was born in
Butler on July 18, 1933. He was the son of
Thomas and Mattie (Smith) Dean. He was a
life-long Pendleton Countian, served in the
U.S. Navy and worked at Dot Wholesale Food
Distributor and Markin Book Binder, both of
Cincinnati. James was a Pendleton County
farmer and was a Butler High School class of
1952 graduate.
He was preceded in death by brothers Virgil
and George Dean. Survivors include sister
Dorothy Day of Ackron, Indiana.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26
at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Interment
was at Butler Cemetery.

Rev. David
Emmet Kirk, 65, of Paris, Kentucky,
passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the
Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born on June 10, 1937 in Augusta, he was the
son of the late Francis David and Frances
May Jones Kirk. He married Susan Phyllis
Wilson Kirk on January 8, 1972 and his dear
wife survives his passing. He was a minister
for 42 years, evangelizing throughout
Kentucky and Ohio. Most recently, he served
the United Christian Fellowship Church in
Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a musician, playing
the organ, piano, guitar and harmonica and
sharing his music ministry wherever he went.
In addition to his wife of 31 years, Susan,
he leaves five children: Ray Morgan of
Paris, Curtis Lynn of Williamsburg, Kenny
Wright of Logan, OH, Mark Clark of
Cynthiana, and Martha Honaker of Paris; 10
grandchildren: Tracy and Kenny Morgan,
Brittany Lynn, Chelsea and Dean Wright,
Mindy Stout, Brandon Clark, Susan, Travis,
and Joshua Honaker; and five
great-grandchildren. He was the last of his
family.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3,
at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, with Rev.
Tom King, Rev. Ronnie Corbin, and Evangelist
Dreama Hawkins officiating. Serving as
pallbearers were: Ray Morgan, Curtis Lynn,
Kenny Wright, Mark Clark, Joshua Honaker,
and Randy Honaker.
Charles
“Shorty” D. Gibson, 69, of
Alexandria, formerly of Butler, passed away
Saturday, July 5, 2003 at his home.
Charles was born in Newport on January 3,
1934, son of Everett and Anna Robertson
Gibson. He was a member of the Alexandria
D.A.V. He married Fran Gibson, whom survives
his passing.
Besides his wife, other survivors include
sons, David Gibson and Darrin Gibson, both
of Butler, John “Pickett” Gibson of
Demossville and Jeff King of Alexandria;
daughters, Beth Cahill and Wendy Rogers,
both of Butler, Becky Bush of Falmouth and
Jennifer Lackey of Cold Spring; a brother,
Everett Gibson of Ft. Thomas; 10
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday,
July 9 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, July 9 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Butler Cemetery
with full military honors.
Arthur Brown,
80, of Butler, passed away Thursday, July 3,
2003 at the Veterans Administration Hospital
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Arthur was born on November 14, 1922, son of
the late Tilford and Delia Hurst Brown. He
worked at American Laundry in Cincinnati for
34 years. He was a United States Army
veteran and was a member of the Neave
Methodist Church. He married Helen Wallace
on April 24, whom survives his passing.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Lenord
and Arnold Brown.
Besides his wife of 60 years, other
survivors include a daughter, Judy Henderson
of Deland, Florida; a son, Jerry Brown of
Butler; two grandchildren, Charlie (Cynthia)
Webster and John Webster; and sisters,
Thelma Moore of Falmouth and Ada Hensley of
Liberty, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
July 8 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.
Ruth Prouety,
39, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, July
6, 2003 at her home.
Born on November 20, 1963, she was the
daughter of Richard Leroy Proutey Sr. of
Parkersburg, West Virginia and Sarah Ella
Flynn Hudgins of Cynthiana. She graduated
from Harrison County High School in 1982.
In addition to her mother and stepfather,
Sarah Ella Flynn and George Edward Hudgins
of Cynthiana, and her father and stepmother,
Richard Leroy and Marie Proutey Sr. of
Parkersburg, West Virginia, she leaves her
two sons, Derrick Scott Proutey of Cynthiana
and Shawn Tyler Proutey of Lexington; her
sister, Connie Webster of Butler; and two
brothers, Richard Proutey Jr. of Lexington
and Johnny Proutey of Cynthiana.
Funeral services were Friday, July 11 at
Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Rev.
Charles Brock officiating. Music was shared
by Adarin Williams. Serving as pallbearers
were Ricky Beam, Marion Lea, William Flynn,
Ricky Hamilton, Russell Flynn and Johnny
Flynn.
Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery,
Pendleton County.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung
Association of Kentucky, Bluegrass Regional
Office, 1636 Nicholasville Road, Suite One,
Lexington, KY 40503.
Claudia
Lou Howell Ray, 77, of Falmouth,
passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003 at her
home.
Claudia was born in Birmingham, Alabama,
daughter of Claude and Johnnie Lou (Blain)
Howell. She was preceded in death by
siblings, Nellie Lou Howell, James Howell,
Jesse James Robertson and William David
Robertson; children, Barbara Hawthorne,
Carolyn Minnie and Bubby Ray; and a
grandchild, Shaunta Williams.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Jean
Hart of Florence, Robert Minnie of Newport,
Cheryl Teegarden and Jeanette Brock, both of
Falmouth, Patricia Williams of Union and
Richard (Richie), with home she resided; 17
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a
sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dot) Howell of
Bellevue.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 5 at
Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.
